I think I posted this in the wrong place earlier:
A friend just bought a tablet here in China preloaded with Android 2.1. Its setup to be used in China, which has given me problems in the past on my Android phone. Is there anyway to go about updating it to the new version of Android and maybe even getting rid of the Chinese app store and adding flash support (right now it says the device doesn't support it, even though it looks like it meets requirements)? You guys have been helpful in the past so thanks in advance for any advice.
Did you try connect the Onda-Vi10 customer service?
How about they said solve about this... In China, i remember my friend told me they also improved the Android at a fast speed.
Howdy,
So, I have a Toshiba AT200 tablet that uses android 4.0.3 and I'm disabled currently jumping through all the hoops for SSI. In the meantime I been using the usertesting app to make enough money to cover my rent & internet barely. Trouble is, they just discontinued support for android versions older than 5.0 so I need to upgrade it to android 5 or 6. Since I have no real clue how to do much of anything on android other than install and run stuff from the play store, I called Toshiba for help and was told that they don't offer a manufacturer update to higher android versions but that I could easily google an unofficial one that is completely legal.
Well, after the last 5 hours of trying, 3 system crashes, 21 removals of trojans by windows defender and malwarebytes, and I-have-no-idea how many 'surveys' & 'offers' completions trying to unlock downloads; I STILL don't have a working upgrade.
PLEASE help me! I need this done to continue earning enough money to pay my rent & internet.
Thanks,
Robert

my galaxy tab 8.9 china model wasnt updated to android 4.0.4. the last update it received is android 3.2 so I flashed the firmware of global tab 8.9 which received android 4.0.4. it boots up fine and works great except for the sound and a few minor issues like no lockscreen and video recording doesnt work " which I suspect dude to sound problem "
anyways, if someone here believes that they are up for the task and could pull it off, i will pay you handsomely

Instead of spending 200 USD to repair this device, why not use the 200 USD to buy a newer, more up to date tablet? It will perform much better than your old device and won't have the compatibility issues that your old tablet will definitely have with today's apps. Even if you get your old tablet to function perfectly with its software, it isn't worth it, the operating system is too old and the hardware is not viable for use with modern hardware/software. Even if you found a way to update the device to a more modern android version, the device will be very slow, glitchy, will freeze and/or randomly reboot when the hardware struggles to keep up with the software.
A decent used tablet for 200 USD is your best option.

yes I agree. you make very good points but It's not only one single tablet. let's just say that I have a whole lot of them and I'm willing to spend even than 200 USD to get the sound problem fixed. I can take logs and follow instructions..I just need to work with someone knowledgeable enough to diagnose and then patch the issue

The fact that you have many of them makes it that much more of a waste of time. To put all that effort into repairing devices that are no longer viable for use with today's technology.
Hi, I'm new here and totally layman. Being naive, I bought an android phone from the cheap clone brand Note40Pro. The description was promising: 10-core, 5g and Android 11. However, the device worked very slowly and after a system check I noticed that the android version was 4.4.2 and not 11. Moreover, I could not upgrade. Because of this I am also unable to pay contactless and get modern apps. I think only a root operation can solve this problem. Hopefully the forum can help me with this, otherwise I'll toss the phone in the trash. Thanks for the support.
Return phone to seller and request refund - because you got cheated.
Hi!
First of all, sorry for posting in this thread , but there is no other thread for the Huawei matepad paper.
My question is if there is or will be any custom firmwares for this tablet, because even if its a good e-reader, notetaking device, i don't trust it for handling my private documents, because its Huawei and also it runs Harmony OS.
Maybe my answer comes after 1,5 a month, but I'll give You my 5 cents. Unfortunately, as there is no way to unlock Huawei this days do not count on any custom roming.
It's stupid of them, but sadly that's the way they choose to do it.

I love this device. Got it somewhere in September and have to say it crushes any other eink Android tablets (got few, mostly made by Onyx). It's superresponsive, doesnt lag at all and, with help of Aurora, has access to Play Store and all ebook apps available there.

sorry, bro... but our tablet is dead as a "custom-rom-enabled" device
it works good (yes, with old Android 10 VM and old HMOS 2, but good) without modifications.
I hope our chinese brothers makes HUAWEI to release some sources and some unlock-software that helps us make our device great again!
Price was good, so I've bought it.
If I knew that it will not receive an upgrade to HMOS 3 and not able to unlock and flash some custom rom, I didn't buy it
Are You sure?
On their HOS3 site I see that Paper is included: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/harmonyos-3/
They are still updating other devices and Paper is not the flagship device unfortunately.
And even without HOS3 it's great device. A10 won't be forgotten by Google for few more years, so not a problem for me.
