vivid or natural? can't decide - Samsung Galaxy S10e Questions & Answers

So I'm a little bit confused. Are you using vivid or natural and why? What would you recommend when watching videos or movies?

vivid is too much for me though natural is a little warmer

Which has a better screen? S4G or G2X?

Currently have a g2x but thinking about getting the sensation. Which has the better screen?
Imo the g2x has a better screen
I like the Sensations display a lot better for the fallowing reasons:
1.Direct sunlight performance is much much better that the G2X. Probably the best I've ever seen.
2. It's bigger and can fit more on the screen along with making it easier to type.
3. The RESOLUTION. Text is so much more clear and crisp that when I go back to my G2X after using my Sensation, everything looks fuzzy on the G2X. Also the higher resolution puts more on the display.
4. Colors are brighter and more vibrant. Not as vibrant as a super AMOLED but pretty dank close.
The only categorie the G2X wins is viewing from a angle. The Sensation washes out pretty quick on angle viewing but straight on, its nice
My advice to you would be to take your G2X to the store and hold it next to the Sensation. Make sure both displays are cranked up to full brightness.

Obviously its just personal preference as that's a very subjective question.
That said....the screen on the Sensation in the MAIN reason I switched from my G2x to this.
4.3" SLCD with qHD res and an awesome 16:9 aspect ratio.
As far as REALISTIC viewing angles....this is perfect. Im not often laying flat on the floor with my phone 5 feet away trying to use it....
After owning both phones, I knew I wanted to look at this screen everyday for the next 2 years....

Especially agree with this.
I really liked the G2X screen, but the advantages of having the higher resolution are the main reasons I prefer the Sensation.
I went with the Sensation although G2X might have a better camera. The reason I got the Sensation over G2X was the screen.

Off topic for sec... The still cam quality is debatable.
Do keep in mind one very important fact.
The Sensation does 1080p @ 30fps in STEREO.
The G2x does 1080p @ 24fps in MONO.
HUGE difference in quality for people who use the camcorder a lot....as do I.
Now back to the topic at hand....

THIS. also had to do with my switch. Sensation performs much better than g2x in terms of graphics quality. just too much damn bloatware
I have to agree with the consensus. Qhd really makes quite a big difference. Now if you asked which screen do I like better, SGS2 versus Sensation I would say I don't know.

Wifey has the Vibrant
which I imagine is comparable to the GS2 in quality.
No question, I've been spoiled by the Sensation's qHD. I'm an avid book reader on my smartphones, and the extra pixels seem to make a big difference, not to mention real estate on web pages.
The blacks on wife's phone does seem to still be blacker, but I'd rather have the extra pixels.

You talk about quality, but the microphone on the Sensation is almost unbearable! Where's the quality in that? Who gives a **** if it's stereo vs. mono if it's unpleasant to listen to in the first place?

A problem with every htc phone I've had. Galaxy s and iPhone has the best sound recording.
The issue is, if I recall correctly, that HTC uses a low quality audio codec to record with. Called amr or something like that

Define "better".
I agree with previous posters about the qHD screen. However the G2x's super amoled screen is brighter and has more contrast which makes it better for games and anything with a simple color scheme. But you can't beat the Sensation's screen for movies and TV - the 16:9 aspect ratio and more natural color rendition are an unbeatable combination.

The Mic is fine?
Sounds great on my 7.1 surround HTPC.
The G2x records in mono and it was obvious.
It's plenty good enough quality. Something must wrong with your Mic.
People have commented that it sounds like I'm on a landline when on a call.
Great quality.
Maybe your Mic holes are covered by a case? I don't doubt its crappy on your device....not mine though. Think of it this way ...better to have stereo craps, than mono crap.

Sensation vs G2X Screen contrast?

hello, I switched from a G2X to a sensation. My sensation is made in China, AUO screen, dated 6/7. Now I see people saying Sharp screens have better contrast, better black. In comparison, my G2x definitely has better screen contrast and darker blue. in terms of Whites, whites are as white as the G2x in the sensation.
I want to ask you guys, what is your sensation's color contrast like comparing to a G2X? please also state your Screen (AUO or sharp)
I have a sharp screen, it's considerably better than my g2x

How do you tell what screen you have?
I have a Sharp screen and a G2X. The blacks are blacker on my G2X but I could give two ****s which display on my mobile device has better contrast. Now if you asked me if I cared about contrast on my 4 LED Samsungs than yes, I do care about contrast and dark blacks on my HD TV'S. I am failing to understand why people care so much about contrast on mobile devices. People should be caring more about text clarity and brightness in direct sunlight. In both of those categories, my Sensation blows the daylight out of my G2X. When reading or looking at icons on my G2X after looking at my Sensation for a while, the display on it looks fuzzy. Seriously, the Sensations display pros far outweigh the G2X pros.

Once again, ill have to disagree, simply because the g2x's maximum brightness is much better than the sensation. I put both devices at 40%, and the g2x blew it out the water...

It depends on what panel you have. Why would you only put them to 40% when using it in direct sunlight? I have held them next to each other in direct sunlight, both at 100% and the Sensation is much more clearer. I can take a picture or make a video if you don't want to believe me. Even in a picture, the difference is noticeable.

I have an AUO screen and it's fine. The blacks can be just a bit dull but I mean, the viewing angles really are amazing. If I look on from literally 179° I barely notice any color change.

Interesting post.
I was doubting between getting a Sensation or a G2x, and finally bought a Sensation because of Sense and built quality. Well, I compared my old's HTC legend Amoled screen with Sensation's, and with the device in front of me, both are similar, but when the phones are for example in the car near to the radio (using them as GPS) and I have to look from a distance, legends screen is much better. Of course, I prefer Sensation's because of the size and the resolution, but legend's is easier to look from the distance (more color, light and angle vision)
I suposse G2x's is much better than legend's.
Just an opinion.

[Q] Atrix2 the display is too dark, so bad to enjoy the photos and videos.

Firstly i really love Atrix2. and i love the TFT display. i always hate the AMOLED ro Super AMOLED or SAP , because the AMOLEDs are colors distortion too much.
But now, the Atrix2 display color is too dark ,even i adjusted the brightness to 100%. there still something like the <dark grey> became to <black>, also the <dark blue> became to <black>, all the colors are too dark!
i took some photos and videos by Atrix2, and they are looks so bad on the phone, when i copied them to the PC then they are looks very beautiful and the colors are very true.
I particularly like this phone excepted the display. i'm so disappointed, yes the RGB pixel lets the texts looks much better, actually the brightness is enough too, but just all the colors are too dark.
i don't want to change another phone, i don't like Samsung or HTC.
So can someone fix this display problem? i'll appreciate that.

Wow, first report I've heard of this - I would take it back and exchange it - compare it to ones in store at least. For me, it looks brilliant and bright - outdoors even better than iPhone 4.
Yeah mines been great in that department. "almost" bright as Samsungs SMOLED.
I pitted my up against a SGS II in the store and I believe the blues are brighter on the SGS II. However the A2 is just slightly less brighter than the SGS II. The blacks are super black and the other colors pop nicely. I think my display is on the warmer side compared the cooler side of the SGS II. However I have zero complaints with my display. I keep my display on 0% brightness at the work place and it looks just fine.

Actually mine is doing the same. Take for example I was watching Iron Man 2 and the race track scenes were perfect, FANTASTIC. But the scenes where it was dark were HORRIBLE. The night scenes from any video are really bad.

It is super bright. I just watched the International. All the scenes popped and were perfect. I could see every detail. Even the night scenes were great because there were lots of night lights. Then there was a night scene inside the back of a car with a black interior. That same video on my old Ipod 3rd gen touch you could see all the details of the seat etc... inside the car. On the Atrix 2 it was so bad it was like they floated in black.
Now the deal is I would rather have the Atrix for sure. I love the super high rez and accept the trade off for super dark scenes. Nothing is perfect and I love this phone. grrrrrr
Don't worry. The Atrix 1 screen is just as bad, if not worse. It's black crush is *horrid*.
I think the screen is great looking if not doing anything dependent on perfect color. Text is extremely crisp and most stuff looks nice if it isnt dark.

I love the screen
The Atrix 2 does not have a pentile display like the Atrix 4G did. Therefore, it is far improved for certain colors such as green, yellow and black.
However, a true black is difficult for LCDs of any variety. The color on the Atrix 2 is not as vivid when compared to other phones, especially the SGS series, however it should be noted that when you get down to it, the colors on the SGS line are actually overly vibrant, and as such are indeed further from the *true* color of whatever it is you are looking at VS the Atrix 2.
This is determined by doing color tests, however tests are really BS, because its more about taste than anything else.
As to the Atrix 2 having a hard time with dark scenes, I have not experienced this to the degree described in the thread. I find the screen to be quite vivid, blacks / dark screens included. Even at low brightness it seems far improved over the OG Atrix.
The iPhone 4 series has a better color definition in MY opinion, however when I tested it against a color test, it was not as true as the Atrix 2, being slightly over vivid.
I'd recommend exchanging your A2 for a different one given the description of the problem, as I have issued 70 of these things out to company employees and never seen one be as bad as what is described.
I got the point of gigii.
You see, it's NOT about the backlight being too dark, it's the color contrast itself. Try getting another android phone, let's say, a Motorola Defy. Do NOT compare with any AMOLED/SUPER AMOLED.
Try installing yahoo messenger app. I chose to compare this coz you'll see the obvious difference with the color.
You will notice that the color purple is DARKER in Atrix 2 compared to any other phones.
I think this is intentional as the display would look more vivid given that you have proper backlighting. All colors have darker shades. This would actually "fool" us on having better color contrast. Some may not notice it but if you have another phone to compare to (a TFT LCD unit perhaps) then you would know.

try this app to view your picture :
"Perfect Viewer" , it can immediately apply gamma correction when browseing picture.
set gamma 1.1~1.3 is helpful.
I still can not find a video player app which can provide gamma correction function.
Any one suggest ?
Besides, I also use "Screen Adjuster" to increase color temperature because I feel the white color is too yellow. (set Blue value15~20)
I keep my brightness at the lowest for battery life, looks good to me.

Thinking of buying the Razr HD, have some questions

I've been debating between this device and the upcoming LG Optimus G, so I'm hoping to get some of my questions answered so I can make a better decision.
#01. Speed and Performance
Generally, is the phone fast?
Do you ever notice any lag when scrolling between home screens, or launching applications?
While browsing the internet, do you ever get checker boarding while pages are loading?
How is the browsing experience? Is it fluid or laggy? A web browser's performance is a deal breaker for me.
Do games run smoothly? I know when I tried playing Scramble on some Android devices it was really laggy.
#02. Display Quality
Do you notice any pixelation due to the pentile display?
I know that on a lot of AMOLED displays, the phone tends to turn the brightness down on large areas of white. Does the Razr HD do this when there's a lot of white on a page? (makes the white look grey)
Following the previous question, do whites look bright or dull? I know AMOLED makes blacks look deep, but the white brightness is my main concern. When I had the Galaxy Nexus, the phone made whites look really grainny and grey.
#03. Music and Sound Quality
Do you notice any static or noise coming from the headphone jack when you have headphones plugged in?
How's the sound quality when using headphones?
How's the sound quality when using the speaker?
I know I'm asking a lot of questions, so any responses are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thx for the info, was truly helpful to me. Question for you. How have you liked \ disliked the transition from the Nexus? Verizon gave me a loaner Nexus to use until they can get me an alternate replacement for my inop Galaxy S3s... so I am just waiting for a RAZR HD to get sent out. After a few days of use, I am finding I really enjoy jellybean, but the Nexus seems a bit small. I also don't like the fact that I have to put all of my files on the internal memory. Is there anything you miss from the Nexus?
Thx, in advance.

1) Yes. So fast.
2) as mentioned, swiping to the leftmost (settings) screen stutters, but doesn't slow down. Other screen transitions are fine.
3/4) No checker effect. Chrome loads the pages very quickly and smoothly, and navigating the pages is just plain sexy.
5) the pre-loaded game (MC3) runs great, and it seems demanding.
1) In order to see pixels, I have to bring the phone so close that my eyes are crossed.
2/3) whites are beautiful and bright.
1/2) my headphones are crap so I couldn't say
3) The speaker quality is decent, but it gets so loud I have to turn it down near halfway most of the time while on speakerphone or watching something on netflix.
Only complaint with the phone thus far is camera quality, and really it isn't THAT bad...

Clarity/resolution

The OnePlus 2 has a crazy crisp display. Just kidding, this is automated text so who knows if this screen is any good. So, you be the judge! A higher rating indicates that it's extremely sharp and clear, and that you cannot see pixels with your naked eye.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
1080P is still great. People should stop complaining.
FullHD display is still relevant. Helps in battery consumption

The colors look washed out, even in comparison to OPO. What is experience of other users?
The colors are natural and give a "true to life" look. Go ahead and bump up the saturation and contrast for that "amoled look" if that's your thing. We are on android after all.
1080p is more than enough for a phone or tablet.
The display color is way better than nexus 5 and OPO screen. Bright is also good when high, and gets very low too. The resolution is great, not missing QHD at all.
I will agree with saurabhp75 that the colours are not as vivid and looked washed out compared to the OPO. The only settings are brightness and colour balance which goes from cool to warm. I do agree that it is brighter than the OPO though.
For those complaining that the colors seem "washed" out, that is true to life colors. If you want to have that AMOLED like saturation, we are on android after all, flash AK kernel or Boeffla and from there google the gamma settings for the kind of color reproduction you are interested in
Color production is subjective in this case, it is unjust to call the onplus 2's display as sub par lel
1920x1080 resolution on 5" bit small but for my eyes enough. HD Videos, HD Pictures looking sharp and not pixelised.
super amoled is the best, screen clarity /color is not ok, if u compare with samsung's amoled screen, i'm not satisfied with OP2 sceeen

Flash AK Kernel, Change colors to some AMOLED-like mode. Then colors would be over contrasted and not natural...if that's what You want, You can do this. OP2 Screen is amazing. Whites are white and blacks are almost 100% black. I'm really happy with it

Install a custom Kernel and increase the saturation to 40-45. It looks much better now, and much more pleasing than the OPO's display. That one always looked weird and cheap to me.
Resolution n sharpness is good. FullHD is still pretty much enough for our eyes.
Agree that color is slightly dull (i always compare color with iphone - the most natural screen you can have) but its easy to tweak using kernel that have KCAL setting enabled. So no issue there
Mate! Really? You think the screen is bad? It is just not saturated. I have a Sony Xperia Z3, Galaxy Note 3, and an LG G4, and Honestly, I cannot tell the difference. Let me get a little technical in the hope of helping you understand it better.
If you feel a magazine page and the photos on a magazine are crisp enough, they are printed at 300dpi. Fine art printers go to 720dpi. And no one really goes beyond that. And from a foot away, even a person with perfect eye sight cannot see more than about 450ppi. The One plus two pushes more than 400ppi, and that I believe should be plenty, unless you want to plaster your eyeballs to the phone screen (which would result in you losing your eyes, unless the screen is turned off ).
