Recover data from formatted sd card that was formerly adopted storage - General Questions and Answers

I have this SD card that was used as adopted storage on a now broken phone. To make a long story short, it was inadvertently formatted. I was able to get the encryption key. Any ideas on how to recover the encrypted data? The solutions I've seen assume the card was not formatted and/or an intact partition table.

Encrypted SD card not detected by my S7. How do I recover the encrypted data?

Hi all
Samsung S7, standard rom, encrypted SD card (Samsung 128 EVO)
My 128GB SD card held a huge amount of photos amongst other things. One day, the card stopped mounting (and I therefore couldn't decrypt the files). Taking the card out and putting it in a card reader connected to the phone, it would mount but didn't give me the option to decrypt the files. I copied all the encrypted files to my laptop, and formatted the card. A different volume name was generated. I copied all of the files back to the card, but the data couldn't be read. I imagine a new key was generated when I re-formatted the card.
Data recovery tools can see the files, but they remain encrypted.
Renaming the volume label to the original name and trying again didn't work either.
I have not changed my pattern code, not done a factory reset, and have not updated the OS since.
How do I go about recovering the encrypted data. I have all the files, but no way to decrypt them using the phone. Is there any way to restore the files?
You can try this
I am very hesitant to overwrite back all the encrypted files to the SD card so as not to write over the old files (which I can see in a data recovery tool, although they are encrypted)
So, I will try the following.:
1. I will connect an old SSD and format it as external storage and encrypt it using the method you linked.
2. I will copy the 80GB of encrypted data backed up on my PC onto the SSD (probably using wifi)
3. I will then try decrypting the external SSD drive using my phone and see whether I can read the files
4. I will report back
Ideally, I would like the volume to have the same volume name as the original SD card volume. I wonder if this plays a part in the encryption/decryption process
If any other suggestions are forthcoming, I'll take them too!

Recovering deleted data

I formatted my phone and I was wondering if it was possible if I could recover the data on my internal storage. Additionally, is it possible for Recuva to detect my internal storage?
Bump
According to my knowledge, if you have already formatted your phone then it is not possible to recover your internal storage.

SD Card encrypted after reset

Hello,
a friend of mine factory resetted the phone (Samsung J6) then he found his SD Card is encrypted and he lost all his data.
Is there a way to recover that data?
I read that he could:
- Backup SD data on pc
- Format the SD card using the phone
- Encrypt the sd card using same password
- Copy encrypted data from pc to SD Card
- Decrypt the sd card
Is this a working solution?
And... is it safer to use a new SD Card instead of formatting the encrypted SD Card?

SD Card formatted as internal / adaptable storage is not recognized anymore.

Basically I have an SD Card that I formatted as internal memory. It has worked well for about a year now. Today though, the phone told me that the card had been removed and that I should re-insert it. At the same time, it tells me that the very same cards format is incompatible and I have to format it in order to use it. All this while I never removed the card. The phone is a Moto G5 running Pixel Experience.
What I've tried so far is rebooting the phone and taking the card out and inserting it again, in various orders. Inserting the card into various computers, none of which recognize it (as expected). GPartEd shows the space on the card as not allocated.
Is there anything I could do to make that card be recognized again? Or else, to get the data off of it?
If this is not the right forum for this question, please tell me, or, if you're an admin, please move the thread.
When you converted external SD-card to Adoptable Storage it got formatted as internal memory and also encrypted as internal memory is.
AFAIK there is no chance to recover the data stored on because they are AES-encrypted.

unable to mount encrypted SD card on original encryptor phone

hi guys. i have a samsung note 4 n910c running rooted stock mm rom. i've encrypted internal and sd card storage. after several months somehow, the phone is unable to mount its sd card when i turn it on. i have no idea why. the only changes i've recently done was an attempt to make viper4android fx app get work. thus, installed the version of busy box which was on v4a site.
the fun part is when i tried to encrypt a blank sd card on the phone to use that trick that talks about transferring encrypted files to a new encrypted blank sd card, the phone dined to encrypt this new sd card and simply replied unable to mount sd card! that working new sd card formatted by itself is mounting and working unencrypted, but when i try to do encryption, phone gives back that error i mentioned.
i even re flashed system partition *no changes to data - internal encrypted storage is accessible* but no chance to mount that encrypted sd card or even encrypt a new on the phone.
any idea to solve this problem plz?
