hi guys. i have a samsung note 4 n910c running rooted stock mm rom. i've encrypted internal and sd card storage. after several months somehow, the phone is unable to mount its sd card when i turn it on. i have no idea why. the only changes i've recently done was an attempt to make viper4android fx app get work. thus, installed the version of busy box which was on v4a site.
the fun part is when i tried to encrypt a blank sd card on the phone to use that trick that talks about transferring encrypted files to a new encrypted blank sd card, the phone dined to encrypt this new sd card and simply replied unable to mount sd card! that working new sd card formatted by itself is mounting and working unencrypted, but when i try to do encryption, phone gives back that error i mentioned.
i even re flashed system partition *no changes to data - internal encrypted storage is accessible* but no chance to mount that encrypted sd card or even encrypt a new on the phone.
any idea to solve this problem plz?

Dear Tech Support Team,
After the installation of the new version of Android (4.0.3) everything worked fine. On the Storage Device Information I found that the system does not use the SD card for write purposes but only for read. The system demands the SD card to be encrypted. When I tried to encrypt the SD card, the android asked for a "pin" and after that the SD card got encrypted. But all the data of the SD card disappeared. On the system info I see 7.40GB free space on SD card from 7.40GB maximum!!!
Please can you help me to recover my data or to unencrypt the SD card??? Do you know what went wrong with the encryption? The user guide describes that the SD card data must exist after the encryption.
I Have the HTC Sensation Z710e, HTC Sense 3.6, Software number 3.32.401.5, kernel 3.0.16-gda3fdfc, baseband version 11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M)
Thank you for your help ))
Try reboot and factory reset. I used this feature once (maybe a month ago) but the process did not produce this error.
Sorry but I don't understand. If I reboot the phone and then a "factory reset" then I will loose all my phone data not only the data in the sd card.
Is this correct ???
As far as I know the encrypted function a the tools to make only the devices can read the data. Before the encrytion process does you mean "
the system does not use the SD card for write purposes but only for read"

are you can store any file on the card. If so either the card has special function or your MicroSD card has been broken or need to be reformatted. Try reformat the card with pc an see if it work again.
I've been rooted for a while without any issues, until recently I'm not sure what happened but suddenly TWRP won't show the /mnt folder or be able to access anything on my SD Card, I've tried mounting and selecting the SD Card in TWRP settings but it displays 0MB and won't select it. All I see is my Internal Storage files, which means I can't flash anything easily. I don't know when it happened but it was working about a week ago. I formatted my SD Card as ext4 in TWRP itself and also tried NTFS on Windows.
NOTE: I can view the SD Card in Solid Explorer and on my computer, TWRP is the only one that can't mount/read any SD Card files or even recognize it.
Is there any way I can work around this without formatting the SD Card?
Hi Guys, yesterday i decided to reset my xperia z5 to factory defaults because i wanted to have it with the apps i use the most and remove all of the others that i didn't use that much. So instead of uninstalling the ones i didn't use, as i said before, i did a factory reset. Before doing this i decided that it would be nice to take out my sd card to copy some pictures, without remembering that i had my sd card encrypted with my fingerprint, so i did the factory reset (with the sd card out of my phone) and after that i noticed that there was a marshmallow update for my phone, i accepted the update (with the sd card off my phone) therefore when i moved all the sd files to my NAS and i put the sd card back in i saw that all the files that i had moved to my NAS where still there. after that i decided to format the sd card with my surprise of seeing a Windows error message of "windows cannot complete format", i did a low level format, formatted my sd card with disk part, etc. None of the things i did worked, Do you guys know what i could do to my sd card to delete all the files in it?
Thanks a lot

Galaxy S7 - Cannot Decrypt SD card (haven't factory reset&used only with this device)
Hi guys,
So I've read the forums here and tried all solutions but none have worked thus far.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S7
Model Number: SM-G930F
Android Version: 7.0
Build Number: NRD90M.G930FXXS2DRA9
Basically, I want to decrypt my brand new SD card which for some reason, it won't let me.
After doing all of the below, when I select the "Decrypt SD card" in Security Options menu, it takes me to the "DECRYPT SD CARD" page which says the message "This SD card cannot be decrypted because it was encrypted on another device. SD cards can only be decrypted on the device used to encrypt them. Decrypt the SD card on the device used to encrypt it, then reinsert it in this device, and try again".
This happens every time I go to decrypt the SD card. I have tried the following popular methods for solving this issue:
• Turned off Lock Screen security, removed SD card, rebooted, re-inserted SD card.
•Turned off phone, and held Home_Key, Volume_Up,Power at the same time and then cleared Partition Caché, rebooted.
•Deleted Android "LOST.DIR" folder (which it won't let me delete anyway).
•Rebooted the phone.
I haven't
•Used the SD card in any other device other than this one
or
•Factory reset the phone (I know this can lock you out of the files on your SD card permanently).
so these two are not the issue.
I have tried, what feels like, almost everything and nothing has worked so I'm wondering if there is anything else I can do? People say they have done the above and it's worked but for me it hasn't which is frustrating.
I don't care about the files - it's a brand new SD card (10 days old) with only a few videos I've taken so I don't care about the files. I just want to be able to Decrypt the card, and Encrypt it again.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Hmm, I recreated your problem kind off.
I encrypted an SD card on a J3 a few pictures and a video, when encrypting it, you have to create a password 6 characters including at least 1 letter and 1 number, so I did.
Then I took the SD card to my S7, same model as yours and on nougat.
Once the card was on, I got the following message, the one you mentioned Pict 1 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AucTXRDIpxdm7sM8Nvv2wFy5fHJc_4Ld/view?usp=sharing
Then when you click on the arrow < decrypt sd card it takes you to the storage screen Pict 2 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pC-M0TW2abQkSPBxbxtfRjwlVs6F3w5U/view?usp=sharing
then when you click on sd card ffrom that screen you get the message card has to be mounted Pict 3 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ah8B5tb0EG_UN1K2ZWzQ1sh_kiQ0sdOD/view?usp=sharing
Then when you click on mount you get the format sd card screen Pict 4 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1g_U94OsGUouKqtBaq2laS72HOtnd1WgX/view?usp=sharing
then I went to the J3 and decrypted the sd card
When I put it back on the S7 this is the message I got Pict 5 https://drive.google.com/file/d/14AMsMT5pdf3pO4bzzMjSbgGOO7uM8mTJ/view?usp=sharing
From that screen is when an SD card can be encrypted within the S7
So it is clrear to me that it was encrypted somewhere else, maybe someone took your sd card and encrypted it, anyway when you encrypt an sd card, you remember that you done it, because a password must be on the phone or you don't get the option to encrypt. Pict 5 is an SD card non encrypted inserted on the S7
So if you don't care about the files in there now, then format the SD card and you will be able to encrypt it on the S7 from scratch
Now if the S7 does not get you the format option, you can use windows to format the SD card, if windows cannot read the SD card then use Mini Tool Partion from your PC, delete the actual partition and create a new one.
