SM-J700H - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

Good Morning/Afternoon everyone.
Before i start, i want to point that i've tried a lot of stuff before being hopeless & turning to this forum.
I have a SM-J700H. yesterday i wanted to change my phones lock screen password, so of course i did so, the problem is, i think i made it wrong, i missclicked somewhere or i don't know, twice, & now my phone is locked. i dont know what to do nor how to deal with that. sadly the Usb Debugging is i think turned off ? i'm not sure. Adb doesn't seem to find it. i tried the google location stuff, it's turned by default on this phone. i don't know what to do, i don't want to hard-reset , as i have important data, photos, etc.
If anyone's could help. thanks

broken screen (black) how do i unlock my phone

hello, my friend has dropped her phone and now the screen is black and i dont know if the touch still works, she wants me to get her photos off the phone but it needs to be unlocked so the pc can see the files,
what options have i got to retrieve the files? ive tried one of the programs but you need to turn on debugging which obviously i cant do with out seeing the screen, which was frustrating after there great advertising!
thanks for any help
my friend has remembered her gmail details that the phone is connected too, does this help? i can install apps to the phone using my pc but dont know how this helps me?
If i can get usb debugging turned on somehow then getting the files off would be easy, is there an app or something that can do this remotely?
Im guessing not as nothings coming up with a search :?

Forgot phone password

Friend got into a fight with his brother. His brother was able to break into his phone.
Friend changed the password on the device last week, and because of his school, he doesn't take the phone with him.
He opened the phone today, and can't remember the password.
It is a Moto G7 Power, running Android 9
It has GenTech installed on the phone.
I do not know any specifics beyond that, as the settings are hidden behind a lock screen.
When I logged into the Google account, it looks like the account hasn't been backing up photos, contacts, etc since the GenTech was put on. iDrive also hasn't been backing anything up.
Are there any tools that can remove the lock screen? Preferably free, but I wouldn't mind paying a small amount. And NOT wipe the device.
Before coming here, I saw Eelphone, but it looked super shady.
Searching through XDA's forums, I saw Dr.Fone as an application as well.
Are these the best options? I mean, I troubleshoot devices for clients all the time, and thankfully haven't had to recover their devices like this, and I know that it has changed a lot since the beginnings of Android, but I need something in the toolbox for sure.
Any help is appreciated, thank you!
Edit: I thought I might try Dr.Fone on my Motorola device. Uh, not the right application that I need! I want the data preserved, not wiped. If I wanted the phone wiped, I'd have done it from the bootloader.
(Or do they make a copy of the device, wipe the phone, and reload everything minus the lock screen?)
(Or is Dr.Fone a malicious program masquerading as legitimate?)

Is the device rooted?
Does the device have USB debugging enabled in system settings?
If the answers to these questions are no, then all you can do is factory reset. After resetting, it will probably be FRP locked(Factory Reset Protection), which means you still need to remember the google account username and password to get logged into the device, but, the lockscreen pin/password will be removed. You'll lose the user's data in the process. At this point, if it isn't rooted or does not have USB debugging enabled, there aren't really any options to save their user data before resetting the device.

The phone is not rooted, unless the GenTech software gained the root access. (I am too new to post a direct link, but it is a monitoring program - I don't know how common it is outside of my community)
If I recall correctly, I did get access to developer options, but that was back in July - I'm not sure if I have developer options enabled at this time.
The paid softwares can't crack it? That really is too bad.

WARNING: never mess with DPI Or lose all your data!

If you try to set dpi to absurd numbers (eg 1000), it will result in bootloop. and unless you have unlocked bootloader and usb debugging on, only way to recover would be to wipe data. So be careful before setting DPI.

I have changed DPI umpteen times in custom ROMs with no issue whatsoever. Hope someone can help you out.
It's impossible to unlock bootloader without wiping data, unless you have some serious hacking equipment like a flash box. This is a very basic security feature in any SoC.
You set DPI to *3000*?!??
Sorry to be the one to say this, but, there's a reason why these settings are hidden by default. You really should have done a backup of all your stuff or at least enable USB debugging. If you had ADB enabled this would be a simple fix, but at this stage you're effectively asking how to crack Qualcomm/Android security so I wouldn't get your hopes up
Already wiped data. Never enabling Dev setting again. I've put this thread only to warn some unfortunate peoples like me. Anyway thanks. And one more thing, if anyone's desperately looking for solution, maybe you can try booting into "safe mode" and maybe able to save your data. Some phones have safe mode. I don't know if poco has one. Neither I'm gonna try. google it

Oh no, we forgot about safe mode! Yeah it exists in all Android phones afaik, basically you power on the device and then hold Volume Down while it boots.

Question unlocking

Hello,
Recently a friends son passed away and the family wants to recover whatever is in his phone including his last text messages and phonecalls.
Xiaomi only offered a full wipe which cannot happen even though the phone and receipt is on his mother's name ( the person who currently has the phone).
I'm uncertain if the phone has USB debugging turned on as I havent got it in my hands yet, trying to gather as much info as I can before I try anything on it.
The family also has a second Poco x3 so the idea was to try anything I find on the 2nd phone first to make sure it doesnt wipe.
It is locked with a pattern and face recognition, but they told me it doesnt ask for the face recognition unless its turned off and on again so they keep it charged at all times to prevent that from happening for obvious reasons.
Any ideas or ways or direction is welcome and very much appreciated.
Doesn't matter if phone has USB debugging turned on, you need to actually allow access from inside the phone to allow debugging on untrusted machine. Sorry, don't think there is any way, unless you know the password, or maybe try to face unlock by pointing the phone at a picture of their son? Don't know if this will work.

The picture is worth a try. Theres also a google recovery thing when you fail multiple times on the pattern to answer a secret question, so im hoping that he put an easy one so the family can figure it out. Thanks for your suggestion

[HELP] OnePlus7Pro locked and Pattern forgotten... Help please !!

Hello all,
Even though it is my first post, I'm an old member...
I know people is alwas asking for that answer but I need to ask it before having to reset my phone.
I've never used the pattern way of locking my phone and rather used instead password but I decided to use a pattern to lock my phone and now that I've forgotten it, I'm stuck...
My phone is on stock Rom, locked bootloader and USB debugging mode activated.
Is there any way to bypass that security and to use my phone again WITHOUT wiping anything (I'm on travel and I completely depend on my saved datas, that's why I'm looking for any way to do that) or am I just wasting my time ???
I know a lot of people will tell me that it's not possible but I'm still hoping that one will tell me it is and will give me the way to do that...
Thank you all...
