Phone charges extremely slow - ASUS ZenFone 6 (2019) Questions & Answers

I thought the ZenFone 6 was a capable of being fast charged but it takes much longer than I expected.
Does anyone know what is causing this? Perhaps I overlooked some setting..

Judging from that screenshot it isn't fast charging. Are you using the charger it came with? Did u try replugging it in? Try a different outlet
When it's quick charging it has 2 plus signs inside of the battery and will say fast charging

EDIT: The problem is back again. For some weird reason the MacBook Pro charger at my work seems to be the only one that's capable of quick charging my device. No other quick charger does.
Either way the phone shows its capable of fast charging albeit with a foreign cable so I'm not sure whether to send it for repair or wait for an update...

[Q] Phone charging extremely slow...

Hello!
Recently, my phone has been charging very slowly. When I first got my phone, it went from zero to 100% in ~2.5 hours, but now it takes about 5 hours to fully charge. I am currently using the stock charger and USB cable that came with the phone, and I have tried other cables and chargers to ensure that it wasn't my charger's fault (or my USB cable). I also tried flashing the stock rom and kernel, but the problem was persistent. Could it be a defective battery that is causing this problem?
My current settings:
Mahdi Rom 4.4.3 6/12
Stock kernel settings (no UV, OC)
No partial wakelock problem
Thanks!

Take a look at the charging levels.. While charging via a wall charger it should be between 800-1050 mA.. If it's below that, it's most probably a low standard usb cable or a charger.. Try changing the cable first and check the current.
I'm getting around 600mA so that's not good.. I'll try another charger and see what goes. Thanks!

FYI, I am currently using the stock charger and cable that came with the phone and still getting low mA. I just tried different cables and chargers and the result comes out the same. What else can I do?

Aah.. That's not good. In the OP I see that you have already tried going back to stock and checking the results?
May be you could try a different wall socket in your home? You could also try charging via a computer and see whether it's getting charged properly? (Fast charge needs to be enabled for this)

i charge slow on the stock charger/cable as well. i ended up buying a 5amp charger with two usb holes and a better usb cable, now i charge from 0 to 100 in about an hour and a half.
Thanks for your help, guys! Turns out most of the cables I own are faulty/below standard. I found a cable later that charged my phone at around 800mA. I guess I'll do some cable shopping later

Could it be something to do with custom ROM settings? Stock charger and cable should be able to pull 800-1000mA from a power outlet, I can't understand why some devices wouldn't be able to do so.

No. The only thing that would influence charge speeds is USB fast charge (charges faster on USB, AC still the same) and that's a kernel level feature.

Something that was overlooked was temperature. IIRC at higher temperatures the phone either stops charging or slows down charging in order to keep the heat down. This was done to preserve the life of the battery as charging batteries while they're hot could degrade the battery.

no. ive found in the past(with the n4), the default cable/charger also went bad quick, ended up using a nexus 7 charger/cable on it.

Phone not charging the same speed when using non OEM charger.

The title say's it all. When I use the included charger the phone charges much more quickly than when I use a 3rd party charger. I've tried a variety of different charges all with the same result. I know this was supposedly fixed in the most recent update, but it seems to still be affecting me.
AFAIK, most 3rd party chargers that I've come across only output 1A, such as my old iPhone adapter.
The one included with the OPO outputs 2A.
This is the same with my note 3 adapter outputting 2A which I've tested and performs the same as the OPO adapter.
I heard that the OPO usb does make it charge faster too. Saw someone on this forum tested it, can't remember which thread though.
Using Galaxy S3 charger took forever, I charged now with the OPO one and it went 20% in 20 minutes.
the S3 charger gives 1.0A, while I have also the Asus TF101 charger which gives 2.0A....
I will verify later the cable too.

Link that the OPO usb makes it charge faster? I use a usb cable from a previous phone bc the OPO usb is too short.
mcbyte: ASUS TF101 is 2.0A? I thought it was 1.2A

it's the same with my Note 2 and my Note 8. They need 2A chargers, otherwise it's sooo slow, like the OPO.

Found It, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/accessories/charger-cable-oneplus-1-t2802484 I'm not sure if it's true though. I might try some of my 3rd party cable and compare to 1+1 cable.

I was trying to find a app that keeps track of the charging rate but I didn't have much luck. That would be a definite confirmation. But yeah, I would for certain want to know.
I am pretty satisfied with the charging rate right now though. Using my Nexus 5 usb with the oneplus one wall charger. Alternatively, I have the blackberry folding charger which is 1.8A charges really fast as well even though it isn't 2A.

[Q] Doesn't always fast charge?

Does anyone else have an issue with fast charging? I am using the original cable/charger that came in the box and I have to unplug/replug it in anywhere from 2-6 times for it to register as fast charging, sometimes more. I have also tried using the charger that came with my Note 4, same issue. Tried using a different wall outlet, same issue. I noticed a thread on Android Central references this same issue but as that is not purely T-Mobile brands, it's hard to gauge where the issue comes from.
Anyone else experiencing this?
If the usb isn't fully plugged in to the adapter, it won't fast charge. I haven't had any issues fast charging with the included charger or the note 4 charger.

I'm currently running ForeverLoco's ROM but I was running stock (both BOH4/BOH6) before recently flashing FL's ROM and the issue still happened. I'm starting to think it was a bad batch of devices sent to T-Mobile from what I am reading on Android Central forums. Was hoping someone here would have a suggestion for a fix but I might just have to take in and replace it since I'm still within the 14 day window.
Get a new one bro. Take it back and plug it in the store. Test it.

might as well get something new then a refurb one.
I have this issue but far less common for it to annoy me. Usually when I plug in our check my notification to make sure fast charging is enabled. My s6
Charger doesn't fast charge at all (same model number and same everything). The original charger fast charges 95% of the time. Yesterday was only the 2nd time I had to reseating the charger after I noticed I was still on 17% after 15min. And didn't see the fast charge notification.
Could be for me what someone else said about not plugging in all the way as it happens once in a blue but idk. My s6 had the same problem if it even is a problem.

This normal. The note 5 does not fast charge while the screen is On specially if the phone is being used... Is a safety precaution which is already answered by Samsung. I also had this issued and I was worried..

Wipe cache partition
This is a known issue with the update to 5ERA1. I had the exact same thing happen to mine. Phone will only do fast wireless. My charging port is emaculate. My wife just updated to 5ERA1 and her note 5 is glitching like crazy.
Wait, i have the same thing, but this is because of the cable or charger. I saw it a couple of weeks ago and now it happens a lot, so, when i connect my phone and its not fast charging, i just unplug the cable, wiggle it a bit and connect back. It doesnt work all the time so i might repeat this 2-3 time and in the end its fast charging. When i tried another good cable, it was fast charging all the time so before buying a new phone. try another good cable hope thats your problem

Honor 8 Qi Receiver & Case

Hey Good day.
Has anyone tried using a Qi receiver with a case. Would love to know about your experience if its any good? And which products you guys used.
Hi. I've got this one with a normal slim case: http://s.aliexpress.com/IfuQnquQ
It works well, although the qi adapter is a bit too long so I had to improvise a little.

Does this make it so you can't plug anything else into the USB C port then while using this charging pad? Like if I needed to quick charge my phone I wouldn't be able to without unplugging the charging pad first? Or is it a pass-through port?

Nope - if you need to use the USB C socket for something else, you will need to unplug the wireless receiver pad first.
Sorry - Pain, I know.

No problem, I thought that was the case. Was just curious. Thanks for the info though!
How fast does it charge? Would it charge say low % (10-20%) to 100% over a 6-8 hour night on the charging pad?

That's probably a fair estimate. I gave up using it when I started to need my USBC socket more than the wireless.

I have multiple charging pads around the house and office so I never really had it get very low. But those estimates seem pretty close to what I would expect. It is a pain to pull it out though so I go through phases, I'll have it on for a while then I take it off.

Galaxy S8+ 'Slow Charging'

Evening All
So the last few weeks my S8 has been charging really slow.. it doesn't actually say 'Slow Charging', it still pops up with Fast Charging when plugged in (original charger with no damage).
It used to charge from pretty much dead to full in about an hour or so but now it's completely different. When I plug it in from about 20% it says around 2 hours to fully charged with fast charge.
Anyone else had this issue? My charger seems fine, always treated it well etc. My carrier (EE) has told me to contact Samsung but I just thought this would be worth a shot first.
Thanks

Even original cable charger works both ways, one side its slow charger and other side is fast. Try to change charger sides in the phone.

I am experiencing the exact same problem with my s8 plus. Its just been the past few weeks. I've tried switching out the cable and the AC adapter and nothing. I think I read somewhere that a recent update killed fast charging on some s8 plus models so I'm hoping that If it is a software issue it will be fixed when they roll out the next update. Otherwise I don't know what to do.
