All the size speculates that the Note 4 will only have a 5.7" but with 4k resolution. I don't get the point of this, why have a such high resolution but still on 5.7" screen?

I'd be more than happy if it would retain 5.7". Anything above 6 inch seems to go overboard with the so called phablet. Pocketability option would be close to non existent if it is.
4k resolution on 5.7 inch for me is fine too. I've tried LG G3 and I am honestly impressed.
But that's just my opinion.
We'll still see what Note 4 has to offer. If it is just a screen size/resolution bump and additional sensor gimmicks. I'd probably pass and wait for Note 5.
Since Note 3 still serves me well. I'm hoping that at 2015. New battery technology would be powering the upcoming handsets, as we all know we are just a year or months away from 64 bit processors. The supposed new ion batteries that theoritically doubles battery life of the current lithium ion batteries.
Yeah seriously, 5.7 is like perfect size. Instead of bigger and bigger screen, they can spend that time making better screen and other specs. Seriously the whole thirst for bigger screen and octo processors is just asinine. At the end of the day, its a damn phone. And then after all those specs dumped into the phone, another one will be released the next year. 5.7 with better screen and more PPI. Yes please

I want smaller bezel and slightly shorter.
I reckon its about 5mm too long at the moment.
IF the note 4 has the same 5.7 inch screen size as the note 3 I am going to skip it and wait for the note 5 next year. I want a 6 inch screen note and won't support a phone or a company with my hard earned $$ for a new device with the same screen size as last year's model! I currently own a note 3 with a 10,000 mah zerolemon battery and rugged case so I can wait for the note 5 if need be.
QHD =\= 4K.
I'd like a jump to 5.9" myself.
Introducing the Galaxy note 8, with the best AMOLED screen yet, sitting at 9 inches!
Come on guys, when and why did a bigger screen become part of an update requirement?
I won't mind a bigger screen as long as the size of the phone stays the same (ie smaller bezels). But, there's not much room left.
Hhhhh , you wont see a 4K display in a phone untill next year or the year after and the screen size will be smaller not bigger
Samsung need to compete with the 5.5inch iphone 6 so they will make the note 4 screen smaller to 5.5inch or they will keep the same 5.7inch and it will have a snapdragon 805 chip with a QHD=2K super amoled display like the galaxy s5 lte-a
Personally i have the galaxy note3 and i skipped galaxy s5 because the note 3 was better and i am waiting for samsung to impress us/me with the note4
The screen size doesn't bother me if it goes up, but any of the epic fail features (waterproofing causing system overheating or port covers that fall off/are a pain to use) will preclude me from buying the Note 4.
I want buy it but I won't if it's going to be a turkey like the Galaxy 5, Xperia Z2 etc.
I must admit I get quite a kick out of people who say they'll wait for the Note 5, even though the Note 4 hasn't even been released yet.
For the guys who think the Note 4 sucks, I'd just like to save you a little time...
The Note 5 sucks too.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW
If this the logic is new device = bigger screen then note 6 will be a tablet. For me 5.7" is perfect. If they make the device any bigger than this I won't buy it. It would be perfect if they could keep he 5.7" screen but make the device smaller which means more practical and easy to handle with one hand.
What logic?
I just think 5.7" is too damn small for a phone with a stylus.
Minimum should be 6".
*smaller bezel, like the G3
*stereo speakers, cupping speakers is ridiculous, imo
*better battery life at full brightness, no tweaks
*improved TW speed, the devs have it pretty smooth, but there are still some lag relative to iphones
*an incremental processor upgrade is not going to be enough imo
the iphone will have the better design, better battery life, better processor, and smoother OS and it will be released withing DAYS of announcement, which really means nothing to me since the phone is so locked down, so I am done with Apple products
why can't HTC just release the REAL phone I want which is a 5.7 M8
Personally 5.7" is my perfect size too.. i wouldnt buy if the size would increase..
but screen bigger than 5.7" but smaller or same footprint, well thats another story..
Personally I'm gonna wait awhile before getting a new phone as I am still really happy with my Note 3. Of course I'll be curious and probably tempted but the Note 3 can easily last another 2 years (if not more) and it will be interesting to see what is out and available by then

Pretty much this. at 5.7" the screen only just fits in the pockets of my slacks without sticking out, and barely better in my jeans. If the device retained the current form factor and reduced bezel size that would be okay though.
One area where samsung could really reduce the size of the device, or increase the screen size is by moving the damn buttons. It is 2014 and Samsung are now the only android OEM with physical home/back/menu buttons, just give us some damn softbuttons already.

Pretty much this. The only thing that could make me move off the Note 3 before that would be a Nexus for Verizon Wireless in the states haha.
Hmm.
1. I think physical button will stay. (have not seen a galaxy phone without it)
2. I think we won't get stereo front speakers. (aforementioned physical button)
3. So much hate for the phone that's not even out yet.
4. I think TW is going to stay. (they now have "Galaxy Apps"!, instead of Samsung apps..., not to mention Samsung wearables only for Samsung phones)
5. New features from S5 will definitely be a possibility. (i.e. heart rate sensor, fingerprint scanner, water resistant rating)
6. I agree that they will have to come up with something we have not seen before(not just software, or features from the S5) or many people will not upgrade or jump ship to a different manufacturer. (sigh...no more updates to Wanam Xposed)
Relax and enjoy the ride.

Not really, when you remember that the note has no on screen buttons getting in the way. A phone still has to be portable you know and unless they're gonna be fitting that screen in the same footprint it may be a little too large IMO.
Can those who have come from a note 8,please share your thoughts and views, on what you miss, performance wise etc, now that you are using the pixel 2 thanks.
Miss the ability to use themes and select a different font. And nothing can beat the Samsung OLED panels! I don't miss the S-Pen that much though!
In short, the Note 8 is crammed with features and sometimes can come in the way of your working. I find the Pixels smoother to work with and just allow me to get what I need done. I probably wasn't the right demographic for the Note 8 anyway!

I have to agree here. I have a Note 8 review unit currently, and I haven't been able to put my Pixel 2 down since getting it. The camera is much better, and aside from a few nuances, I'm overall very happy with my choice.
I'm almost ready to upgrade and currently using an S7 edge. I torn between the Note 8 and either of the Pixel's did dropping in screen size take time to adjust?

I was honestly torn between the S8, Note 8, and Pixel 2. I think they're all great devices with pros and cons, and a great deal just depends upon personal taste. I'd highly recommend walking into a Best Buy or other store with these models on display, and take some time to play around with them.
One thing I will admit regarding the Note 8 is how surprised I was with its size. The Note 8 certainly has a large display, but I didn't find the device to be as unwieldy as I had expected. I also found the fingerprint reader to be far easier to use than I had assumed (I'm right-handed, and hold the devices with my left hand).
My only concern is how the Note 8 would feel in a pocket all day. I already have a great tablet that I use all the time (Kindle Fire HDX), so my phone is simply my "Go everywhere with me at all times device". I'd certainly be interested to hear from others how it feels with constant carry in pants or coat pockets, but IMHO I imagine the Pixel 2 being far easier to have on oneself 24/7 as opposed to a Note 8.
Substratum themes work on Pixel 2

For me personally the note 8,has been the fastest phone I have ever used. I know others don't have much care about the headphone jack, but for me it's just convinient to have. I listen to a lot of music, play games and watch movies on my phone so not having the headphone jack is a deal breaker for me.
I have been torn as well.
I wanted Pixel XL but it's screen issues put me off. Pixel 2 small big bezels, wasn't sure coming from 6p.
Ordered S8...
Stunned with the display but that's about it... Camera - front crap so much worse than 6p, rear - could capture nice pic but 6p was much more reliable in this matter.
Overall smoothness wasn't somehow great, still full of Samsung crap,. Fingerprint scanner is a joke, location, accuracy and speed.
After one day of owning it I have sent it back
...
And bought Pixel 2!
What an amazing experience. Super smooth, amazing camera, great display but tad small although appreciate one handed use so much!
Speakers could have some more bass.
You can't go wrong with Pixel. Great phone;

Hmm if the pixel is much smoother then it's definitely out of this world. I have found my note 8,to be very smooth as for the first time ever I have not bothered installing a custom kernel or any kernel tweaking app. I am using it stock , just rooted but it's been great. Maybe one more point is the fact that mine is the Exynos version so it might help explain why it's been performing great. I am however always on the lookout for a fast phone so might just try the pixels.
Has anybody sold/traded their Note 8 for a OnePlus 6? Does anyone have both? If so, how does the OnePlus 6 compare? Obviously the OS is different, faster processor and GPU, but I would like to hear people's thought about whether they like it better, if there is a way different feel to it than the Note 8. I am currently considering switching over myself. Thanks for your thoughts and opinions in advance!
Note 8: better screen, better camera (debatable), ip68 certified.
Op6: fastest phone on the market right now, nothing can beat it. OxygenOS is smooth and has no bloatware. Battery life should be a bit better than your Note 8 too.
I had an S8+ before this which is very comparable to your Note 8 and I don't regret it. The speed and snappiness of this phone is addictive.
I am a hardcore user.. lots of video calls, heavy multitasking with ****loads of apps open on the same time, gaming (pubg) and the phone never breaks a sweat.
Oh and gotta love the dash fast charging. Half an hour and you're back with 50% charge.
The camera is by far bad, close to flagships but missing out here and there to be as good as S9 or P20 pro or Google Pixel 2 XL camera. I recommend watching some reviews to get more insight in the camera. I'm personally not disappointed.
Hope this helped. Good luck.

I also came from a dual-SIM 256GB N8 and mostly agree with what you have said but the camera, man, it's horrid. Nowhere as good as the reviews claimed and absolutely abysmal in low light. It is a very fast phone, the fastest I have ever used (have used dozens and dozens of smartphones over the last twenty or so years). I miss the wireless charging, though I got around it by adding the wireless charger sleeve but it charges very slowly.
By the way, if you trip Knox and install a custom ROM on the N8, it's also pretty darn fast. Just a bit more work to do that. I definitely miss the Note 8's camera.
If your always been using a flagship phone, oneplus is not for you. Its made for budget type people. The screen, camera, overall experience is not for you. Its for people who dont care about a little small thing thats is missing but the speed. But for the speed itself it does not much different from the note 8 so imo its not worth changing (im not saying upgrading)

See I disagree. I've always went "flagship" in the past. I've stayed with Samsung mostly, and coming from the note 8 most recently. I am not really missing anything. I love this phone. Best of all, I'm back into the custom side of Android again and I get to play a little. I missed that. There's tons of gimmicky features out there that i could have, but wouldn't really make my personal user experience any better. Honestly, I can do more with this phone. For me and my needs/wants, this is a better phone than the note 8, but to each his own.

To answer your questions, I do like it better. I love the feel. It's a nice phone aesthetically, and I'm happy with the build quality. Feels better in the hand than the note 8 and definitely fits in my pocket better. Holding them side by side, the op6 is smaller, but with basically the same screen real estate. I'm by no means a OnePlus fan, as this is my first, but this was a good start. I personally am glad I made the switch. That certainly doesn't mean you will and obviously there are others that will disagree. This is just my honest opinion.
I went from Note 8 to OP6.
Miss the camera just a little bit, and SPen features like cropping screenshots and writing on screen
My note 8 was having issues and sold it. It was a few days before the OnePlus released. Only bought it because it holds it value.
Community(not xda or Reddit) makes me dislike the phone. Device is nothing special. Not bad but does nothing special outside of maybe 1hr plus of sot. Quick Updates obviously.
International note 8 over most phones.
OnePlus 6 pictures. Doubt the note 8 will do massively better. Yes in low light it's not as good as a flagship but it ain't bad either.

I switched from a Note 7 to Pixel XL to OP6 Silk White, and I couldn't be happier. But I also was a big fan of Note 7 over the awful Pixel XL. I am hesitant to recommend OP6 over Note 8, just because I loved Note 7 so much. OP6 is a great phone nevertheless.
Above sums it up. Can't go wrong with either choice
sold Note 8 for OnePlus 6 (my first OnePlus phone) and I'm really happy with it. Obviously it depends on what you're searching from a smartphone. If you like speed, fast updates and modding (like me) you'll never regret the change

I've set up an S9 for a friend, and it was a fantastic phone. The one thing to consider for sure is that an OP6 comes with a plastic screen protector factory installed and a silicone case (which is actually excellent,) so you are good to go out of the box. I had to spend about $60 to put a Dome screen protector and a Slickwrap on the back for the S9. Takes time and money if you want to protect the glass surfaces. It's amazing to me how no large company like Samsung ever thought of it.

That's a tough decision for sure. I guess it depends on what you need out of your phone. I wanted to get back into heavy customization (I like to tinker with stuff and the note 8 was locked down tight), and out from under TMobiles thumb, so I sold my note 8 and give up my jump plan. It was the original jump too, which made it a very hard decision...but necessary to truly get free from TMobile.
After doing some research, the OnePlus 6 just stood out to me as the best choice. I'm not regretting it at all. Super fast phone. Great Android experience. No frills but I'm ok with that, and it's got just enough that I might even used the frills that it does have, and developers will add more . I'm pleased with the caliber of developers that are showing up here. Exciting for sure.

Especially since the TPU case and screen protector can't have cost OP more than a couple of bucks.
I have both. When I compare the two, the only thing that sticks out for me between the note 8 and the one plus is the screen and form factor of the note 8. I love the note 8 screen. But thats it. In my opinion, the note 8 is waaaaay too slow for me. Tons of features, but pointless with all the lag. I love the oneplus cuz it's simple, fast, and so much more fun to use. Plus, Im a big fan of stock Android. Samsung is great, but can be too much at times.
Put all specs bs aside, buttom line:
Less screen .
Les battery.
Optic zoom *2 only....
No headphone jack.
No dedicated second stereo speaker (earpiece).
Price-LOL...
Your opinion?
Having just purchased the Mate 20 X 5G I can honestly say it's a stunning device, and that I really do love the 7.2" Display.
As you will be aware the 5G variant doesn't have a headphone jack (this doesn't concern me as all my headphones are Bluetooth).
I have also Pre-ordered the Note 10+ 5G I don't think it's inferior, intact it's the only device that incorporates the pen and it's actually a fully functional tool (yes we have the M-Pen) but it's not quite the same.
I never dismiss a product but I do agree that for the Note line it ought to have been better and for me personally that would have just taken two things (on top of what was announced) those are a 90hz Display & 5000mah battery. This didn't happen and was a disappointment to which I think Samsung will regret.
However as I don't own a Samsung currently to have both the Mate 20 X 5G & The note 10+ 5G I'm in a very happy position. Two powerhouses that perform very differently but each has their own strengths and weaknesses.
I own a EVR-L29 (Mate 20 regular version)
I was an avid user of the Note line (as shown in my signature), and i always had issues with battery life not lasting long enough. I use it a lot during my daily commute & work (Spotify, 3D Gaming, Google Maps, BT headphones & Smartwatch, Note-Taking, Youtube & a lot of photo/video taking). I always had to charge intermittently whenever i could.
After switching to the Mate 20 X, I never had to charge at any point throughout the day/carry a power bank. It just lasted me until night despite my power use. The big screen was a joy to look at and game with.
The only thing i missed from the Note was the S-Pen. Sure the Mate 20 X has the Mpen but it feels hard & slippery and counterintuitive to use. I also wish the Note 10+ had a bigger battery but understand the space constraints when factoring the space needed for the SPen.
Having said that, like @Duncan1982 I have pre-ordered the Note 10+ (non-5G) and will use both devices. Lets see how the new Note fares.
Wouldn't trade mine M20X(4G) for any sammy device.
5000mah 7.2 inch amazing cameras and performance and awesome speakers

I noticed the slight bulge in my regular front pocket initially, but after awhile it felt normal
I'm interested in what the screen size difference is side by side. 6.8 vs 7.2, but the note plus has a larger screen to body ratio. Has anyone held both yet? One in each hand. Interested in how big of a difference the screen size actually is.
Let's face it, the note 10 For day to day usage it will never be as good as mate 20 x in the area that matters the most, BATTERY LIFE. Galaxy Note series always had it's own magic that called the Spen but to be honest, better camera and longer battery life is all that matters these days since even the 300$ phones have the speed and good displays nowadays
The longer I have this phone, the more valuable it is to me. You see the new phones coming out, with mediocre upgrades and a hefty price tag.
Note 10 Plus is a great phone, no denying that but in the UK it will cost £1000 for the 4g version. In the UK you can buy the Mate 20X and get a Huawei Watch GT for £499.
Stellat battery life, fantastic screen, the Dolby Atmos stereo audio is amazing, HDR display... And fantastic camera for me just keeps me with the Mate 20 X. If course you have the Pen with the Note 10 Plus which is no gimmick.
Also I prefer a flat screen, the curved screen doesn't do it for me... Horses for courses
I answered my own question today, I held the 10 plus and my mate 20x. I was surprised how small the note plus felt at 6.8 compared to 7.2. I had pre-ordered one just in case, but I think I'm going to cancel it. The screen is lovely no question. But I don't want to go backwards in size. I hope a Mate 30x is in the future and the rumors aren't true that they're going to kill the line.

Yup that's what I saw in person when I compared them. Really no comparison screen wise, now to see if we get lucky and a Mate30x is in our future, I'd love to have wireless charging.
Tested the N10 today in the store, the plus version.
It's SMALL compared to the 20 X, awesome screen, ok speakers but the rest is same as s10.
M20 X FTW
I'm very tempted by the 20 X since it's day one (finally a phablet close to my old Xperia Z Ultra), however I'm not sure whether EMUI would be to my liking. It seems that the MPen isn't really as useful as an S-PEN... Additionally Samsung DeX and Linux on Dex are really good. I guess Easy projection is close to DeX, albeit less polished. But there's nothing like Linux on Dex on Huawei's side.
Still can't decide (of course there is the 500 euro price difference).

EMUI 10 inspire by OneUI, I think. It optimized for one hand operation plus M20X battery life is the beast so likely I want to keep M20X over jump Note10+. For me Note10+ advantages are smaller footprint ( still big screen ) and SPen. Cons: M20X much better in term off P/P.

Note 10+ is easier to see in sunlight compared to Mate 20x.
Note 10+ has better camera quality (not by much however)
Mate 20x is louder and clearer sound.
Note 10+ pen is simply far superior & incredible.
I still own a Mate 20 x. No intentions of leaving. It is my daily.
My problem with Samsung is that they use punch holes and curved screens. I really don't like/want that.

i feel your pain lol, am an architect and i hate those very useless curved displays , i have no idea why they do it. the size of that mate 20x is just what the note line should be , i dont know of the screen quality currently on the mate 20x but 2k would be much better for sure and add an spen to it and thats the most perfect phone, and tbh even without the spen i think its the most perfect phone size wise, speakers wise etc
I want to trade my S10+ for OP 7 Pro.
The following reasons why I want to switch to Oneplus 7 pro are:
1. QHD 6.67" amoled all screen, vibrant big and bright all screen. Nearly as vibrant as Samsung's screen.
2. Camera best Oneplus have produced. Images sharp with good detail, really impressed. Obviously not as good as Samsung's but for me good enough. I'm not a massive picture taker or selfies person. 4k 60fps super stable.
3. Loud dual speakers, again this is top notch. Not as full or rich sound as S10 plus but it's darn close. Another surprise.
4. Triple SSS performance (coin that one) - Super smooth speedy performance. No strutting or freezing experienced as of yet.
5. Near stock firmware with a few Oneplus touches. Love it better then stock android a actually
6. Quick updates to latest Android software.
7. Pop up camera prefer it over the hole in the screen, use it unlock phone as it's a cool feature.
8. That damn 90Hz refresh rate, boy ow boy is it smooth. This has completely spoilt me, it's fluid.
9. Snapdragon cpu which is better than samsung's exynos.
Do you guys think is worth the switch or i should stick with S10?
Do it
I did this exact thing a year ago and am still happy with my decision
Swapped it six months back and am happy with the phone at the moment. Screen is good. Software is snappy. Camera is a tad bad as compared to s10 plus but you can use gcam mod to compensate for that.
Battery is also better with custom kernel.

Hi
Yes and only one! It's a Samsung! [emoji6]
Envoyé de mon OnePlus 7 Pro en utilisant Tapatalk
I miss a few
Namely this phone is a bit heavy as compared to s10 plus and the feel in hand is not as good as s10.
Secondly miss my water and dust resistance. Used to wash my phone after my covid duty, haha.
The last thing is the headphone jack.

These are the only things that bothers me.
The phone is too bulky and heavy.
Sounds like you have your mind made up lol. I wouldn't because it's basically a side-step instead of an upgrade.
Also root depending on phone versions (both the s10 and 7pro)

it seems like youve made your decision which is the right one .. go for it you wont regret it ... for camera if you install gcam i think it's as good (or even better) than s10 .. also you get used to its weight .. i'm using 7p for about a year and i'm super satisfied .. i just wish it had better battery .. (its decent but
i'd like it to be more than decent ) also i wish i would have chose 8gb or 12gb ram variant i'm using 6gb and ram management is not as good.. other than than i dont think i'm upgrading at least for a good 3 years to come
came from s10+ as well before getting the op7p. the most annoying thing I had with the s10+ was it heats like you can cook something especially if mobile data is used. best decision ever.
