I've tried the stock Marshmallow ROM, and I've tried Resurrection Remix Pie, and I've tried Clear_Modem_Status.zip (flashed in TWRP) - nothing. Still can't get even a single satellite.
So now I'm left to assume that I've damaged the antenna, if not the radio itself. I performed a DIY battery replacement around June 2019.
I'm nervous about taking the back off again (concerned I will damage it more and wear out whatever glue is left; the phone lives in a case but I worry that a drop could have nasty consequences). Should I dive in and try to fiddle with the contacts at the top, or just live without GPS on my Turbo? (It's not my daily driver any more, having been replaced by a Moto X4 for that role.) Please advise.

Hello, and thanks in advance to whoever contributes to trying to help me here. Heres my situation
I started with a Galaxy SIII [Verizon] on JellyBam [the most recent version before kitkat] I had GPS working just fine, there were some bugs and I saw a KitKat version came out so I figured I'd give it a try, ever since then regardless of what ROM I run I can't seem to lock on to GPS.
I tried CM11 and still to no avail, I get GPS through my location and google maps and such so I am able to get step by step directions but no turn by turn navigation, sometimes I just float along roads as if it knows where I am but it can't 100% lock on. Since then I've done everything short of an ODIN flash because that is such a hassle..
I've tried CM11 nothing on the GPS location end.
I tried LiquidSmooth still couldn't grab a GPS signal
Any JellyBam even RC2 still no GPS lockon.
Anyone got a proposed fix, I even grabbed GPS Status and cleared my A-GPS data, and also tried those work arounds like turning your phone on with location already enabled before the restart etc etc. I just can't get GPS to work. I'm wondering if I'm going to have to ODIN and if somewhere along the line a tweak changed something
Also Question 2 - Do system tweaks like AndroidTweaker and such stay after a full rom reload..
Example; On Jellybam use android tweaker to optimize battery life play with GPS on android tweaker
then I format my phone to another rom [cm11] do those tweaks stil stay there until I ODIN or something?

Try taking the back cover off and screwing tight all the screws. (sounds mad but it actually works, there's a whole thread about this)

Okay, I will try that. I think its a software issue though, but I will certainly give it a whirl.
Update: That did not work.

Did you REALLY tighten them? What I mean by that is get yourself a good quality small phillips head screwdriver, not a flat head. Turn those screws on the back with a good screwdriver, they're probably loose. I've had the exact same problem twice and both times this worked like a charm. I also did it for a friend of mine, same result. It's worth the $5 investment. I got a "teeny turner" at my local computer store, worked like a charm.

I'll be honest I actually didn't tighten them that hard.. I am going to give it a good twist tonight and see what happens because I have started to grab a signal since I did the original turn. But when I did the turn I Also pulled the SIM card and the SD card and the battery for over 60 seconds, I am wondering if that potentially aided inf ixing it as well.

The first time I thought I tightened them it had no effect. Then I got the correct screwdriver and really tightened them, as in they turned at least 180 degrees each and pretty easily with the correct driver. My GPS will lock from the middle of a highrise in Chicago and get 11 satellites. Prior to that I needed to be near a window and pray that it would find 3. Trust the experience of hundreds of others, get yourself the right screwdriver and try it again. Don't use a cheap screwdriver or flat head, you'll just strip the screws. Get a small phillips, shouldn't cost more than a few bucks.
I just wanted to share how I fixed the GPS on my sub-100$ "Laude S500" MTK6582 based chinese android phone.
May I start by stating that I am astonished how well this phone is working, for the price? I bought it as a backup emergency phone, but as far as I can see up to now, it simply....works fine. A completley different best compared to the cheap chinese android phones I tried a year or two ago, which were simply not usable.
Anyhow, so everything worked, except the GPS. No matter what I did (and I did everything), even after 30 minutes, the GPS would only see maybe one satellite, and would of course never get a lock.
I've tried all the steps floating around the net - all the EPO fixes, Faster GPS, manually editing all the .conf files, and I even almost bricked my phone by messing up build.prop. That last one almost cost me the phone, but thanks to SP_Flash_Tool and MtkDroidTools I managed to install CWM Recovery, which in turn gave me a root shell, which allowed me to fix build.prop via ADB. If you need help with that, let me know, and I will describe the process (the other threads seem to be literal translations from russian, which leave something to be desired in clarity, IMNSHO).
Regarding the GPS:
It seems that there was simply a lose contact between the mainboard and the GPS antenna. I watched this video (which is for a S3): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI4hs19riRM
So I simply unscrewed the plastic back-plate on the phone. In the upper right corner there are two contacts labeled "GPS/BT/Wifi". I held a piece of aluminum foil to the upper contact, and ran GPS Test for about 3 minutes, and got my first GPS lock ever, on that phone! Yey!
After that, I simply, very carefully, bent the little pin-contact that's on the mainboard up a little bit, so that it would make a better contact to the antenna's contact (which is on the plastic back plate). I also cleaned the contacts with a drop of rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip.
After that, I simply assembled the phone again, and now I get a 3D GPS lock in less than a minute!
Hope that helps,
M.
I recently changed the housing on my M8 to red and have been using the phone perfectly until I recently tried to use GPS and found it non functional. I have tried flashing sense roms which have always gotten a GPS lock right away no matter which version I was using at the time. I am running the latest Lollipop firmware and currently am on bliss CM12, however no matter what rom I try I always end up with no lock and no signal change when looking at GPS status or other application. Is the GPS module on this phone plugged in or physically attached to one of the main/daughter boards? It almost seems like either the new body is interfering or the GPS is unplugged(if that is possible). Any help here would be greatly appreciated as the only other thing I know to try is to purchase replacement speaker grills and try swapping back to the original housing.
Have a look at this thread. It may the answer for you.

That you SO MUCH, that sounds highly likely due to the tightness of the rear housing.
FIXED!!!! I can't thank you enough for that link. I found the "pin" broken off(sorta? it looks like it is held by placement rather than solder) ended up soldering a very short piece of wire to the small pad on the board so that it touches the case when closed. Booted up and GPS Status locked 12 Satellites immediately
I've got two OnePlus Ones sitting in front of me:
1) Physically in mint condition (not a scratch on it, never been dropped, flip case from day1, etc), my original phone that has (as far as I'm concerned) a faulty flash storage chip. It kept committing suicide whenever the bad part of the flash got "touched". Eventually hard bricked itself, and all the ColorOS based recovery tools kept getting stuck with the dreaded "Sahara" error nobody seemed to know how to get past. I consider repairing this a lost cause directly.
2) My girlfriend's old phone. Physically, pretty beat up. Corner of the screen is cracked slightly, but it still works - although the touch screen is a bit flaky on detection. No problems with the storage chip, never had any OS issues. Presently just installed the latest Resurrection Remix rom on it.
My question is simple. Can I transfer the basic guts from phone #2, into phone #1? I've been skimming through various tear down guides - it looks like a pain to disassemble, but doable.
I'm hoping none of the hardware is married?
After i replaced the amoled display everything seemed to be normal. But then after some month i had to unscrew my phone to replace the battery and install new camera replacement. And when i was sealing phone i missed a bit my screw and kinda broke the signal cable (long one, it was flattened a bit).
And then after that i promptly noticed that my wifi range plummeted tremendously. Seriously, router was not seen at all just 10m off it! (still worked thought)
And not long after that(maybe it was since the wifi issue arose, maybe it was a bit later) i also noticed that GPS connection is missing too. I checked all the apps to make sure, gps test showed absolutely nothing.
I checked my antennae inside the phone and it looks like ok. I even flashed my phone to miroom 20.3.26 but still issue is there.
I'm running out of suspects by this moment and i really need your help.
I'm starting to realise that it may be a complex mobo repair

I would start with reflashing original stock ROM with MiFlash tool. If the issue persists on stock ROM with locked bootloader, then you should go for repair
