Bluetooth issue when "calls" option is on. Sound is horrible - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

I cannot seem to figure this out. When I pair my bluetooth either to speakers, car, samsung buds if the "call" option is on under bluetooth settings the volume of the song drops in half and the bass is completely gone. To me it sounds like it's sending anything I play through a call channel? If that's a thing. The second I turn off the call option the full volume comes and bass comes back. Turning off call is not a solution as my car and galaxy wear app says my bluetooth is not connected without the call option on (which means the controls of my buds don't work). Does anyone else have this problem or have a solution?

[Q] Is my headphone jack ruined?

I bought some JVC headphones that are high quality and the sound is really clear after a while i notice when i plug them in my Sensation the sound is terrible it sounds like a pair of 5 dollar headphones with no bass, it was working fine what gives?
Wait... So you were using the headphones in Sensation fine for some time, but then this suddenly happened? Try them in another device to see if it's a problem with headphones. You can also turn on SRS/Equalizer in Music settings.
Did the sound get worse after answering a call and going back to the music app? Does the problem get fixed when you reboot the phone? If so, disconnect the headphone, play music through the speaker and connect the headphone back while the music is playing. It should get fixed. If you have a headset, while listening to music, you can press the main button twice (as to redial a call) and then immediately cancel the call. It should give you back the good sound.

Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset Mic

Just recently bought a Bluetooth Headset for my Motorcycle Helmet, I'm on ICS right now, SCV7. The problem I'm finding is that no matter which voice commands app I use (Vlingo, utter, Skyvi, Voice Search) I can't seem to get it to use the headset's mic to listen to me!
But whenever I take a call the microphone works just fine. When I go into the headset's bluetooth settings it is connected as both phone and media. I've tried both by themselves but didn't get a change. Phone calls work and music plays, but voice commands just don't.
Anyone have similar issues? Any ideas?
Would this be a hardware issue with the headset? Hardware with the phone? Or Software?
On a side note: Noticed that music effects have been really buggy with the headset.. MusicFX and DSPManager go crazy, make it sound worse than without them, like the speaker is about to explode from all the static. (Tried all Loudness levels, switching songs, and tried all equalizer settings but I can't pin it down, sometimes it'll be exploding ear-screeching sounds but when I open DSPManager it's as if it finally clicks and makes the equalizer work again.. goes away next song)

[Q] Bluetooth Streaming Audio Issue

I've been having an issue with Bluetooth streaming audio on every original development rom I've flashed. I'm currently running Slim-4.2.2 build 5.
The problem is that when I'm listening to music through my bluetooth headphones (LG Tone HBS-700) and an incoming call comes through, the music I'm listening to through my headphones comes blaring out the phone's speaker instead of being paused. This happens only when the phone is in vibrate or silent mode. If I have the phone in ringer mode, then the music will pause and the actual ring tone will play out the phone's speaker as it should.
I use Poweramp for local music and Pandora and Spotify as well. For some reason the problem doesn't show itself when I'm listening to Poweramp; only when I'm listening to Pandora or Spotify. (I haven't tried any other apps).
It's only incoming calls too, notifications don't play out the phone's speaker while in silent/vibrate mode during music playback.
A temporary solution for me is to set my ringtone to "none", but then when I have my phone in ringer mode, I have to remember to manually set the ringtone to the one I want and vice versa. I could use something like tasker to handle that, but I'd prefer to fix the root problem if possible vs. covering it up with a hack.
Has anyone else encountered this and hopefully been able to fix it? I'd really like to leave my phone in vibrate mode at work without the possibility of my music blaring out the phone if I get a phone call.
Not a single person has encountered this issue?

Have you tried an app called Soundabout? It is not just a bluetooth issue even with wired headsets this happens also. You will have to get the paid version for Bluetooth settings.
Yeah, I tried out Soundabout with the pro license. I messed with every setting and I couldn't get it to fix the problem.
I never use wired headphones so I didn't know that was an issue too. I just tried out some wired headphones to see if it behaved the same way and there's actually zero issue with wired headphones in relation to an incoming call on my phone. In silent mode, the audio continues to play out the wired headphones and I see a phone call on my screen.
As it turns out, now setting my ringtone to "None" doesn't work as a temporary solution anymore. Media audio from Pandora and Spotify will reroute to the phone's speaker for an incoming call on silent or vibrate mode. I'm going to try out Slim's weekly build 5.5. If that doesn't work, I'm going to check out a custom kernel. If nothing, I may need to revert back to stock as this is a deal-breaker. I can't have my phone making unnecessary noise in a quiet area in the slim chance I get a phone call.
Any and all solutions are welcome if anyone has any ideas or troubleshooting methods they'd like to suggest. Thanks!
same here on stock
i am getting the same thing and running a stock Droid Razr android v. 4.1.2
very f'n annoying when i get calls at work and i got jams playing and all the sudden just blares out the phone speakers.

Has this been solved yet?
Having the same issue with LG Tone+ using PlayerPro with local music. I don't know if it makes a difference (I guess I could test it), but I use last.fm to scrobble all music live.

Bluetooth and wired headset call volume issue (LOUD on VZW Note5).

I have spoken at length with samsung and plantronics customer support to no avail and would like to see if anyone else has had this issue. Bluetooth and wired headest call volume is extremely loud, much louder than media volume on the same devices. Even with volume set to minimum on both phone and bluetooth headset it hurts my eara and does not seeem safe for longterm use. Devices I have replicated the problem on include Plantronics Voyager Legend, Plantronics Voyager Edge, Jabra Stealth, and some skullcandy wired earbuds. So far both samsung and plantronics state thay they do not guarantee compatability with other manifacturers devices.
I have not had any issues so far and I do have and have used a Plantronics Voyager Legend. I have also used Bluetooth in my car. The only frustrating thing I have had to deal with is the stupid high volume warning you have to bypass to turn the volume up past a certain level. Sorry to hear about your issues.
Speaking of this, I get a pop-up alert when I turn the volume up past a certain threshhold (only happens via blutooth or probably wired headset). The problem is that this happens for each session, rather than just one time only. It's rather annoying because I use blutooth to play music in the car and when I go to raise the volume it stops for the pop-up message, which I have to clear to continue to raise the volume up.
Can this be disabled?

That is the same message I am referring to, but it only pops up once per boot for me. As long as I don't reboot, I don't get the message. Each boot, however, I have to deal with the pop up...stupid!

Solved: Waze on the S8 and audio when BT connected

I did extensive searching on this and no help so I thought I would try here.
I had Waze on my old S6 and was able to configure waze to send turn by turn directions and alerts through the phone speaker even if the phone is BT connected to the car by configuring waze settings.
Now that I migrated to the S8, Waze will not put out any sound to the phone speaker or the car speakers whens BT connected. It is totally silent. If not BT connected, it will speak through the phone.
I tried the same procedure I used on the S6 to get the audio through the phone speaker.
Anyone have similiar problems and find a solution?
Thanks in advance.
I haven't tried that yet, I usually let it talk through BT but I'll see if I can get it to work so we know if it's a common problem.
Edit: I checked the slider over to sound to speaker and it worked fine for me, sorry.
Nope i don't have that issue.
Just to be on the safe side (although i bet you did)
Did you :
Settings > Sound and voice > play sound to speaker?
Thank you. Yes, Settings > Sound & Voice > Play sound to speaker has a green, checked button that is swiped to the right. App Volume is set to max. Also Sound it set to "Sound on"
I did some more experimentation.
First, I discovered that under Waze ==> Settings ==> Sound & Voice, you must turn off "Play sound to phone speaker". If you have this on, or green, Waze will NOT provide sound guidance through the phone speakers, BT connected or not. Odd I thought.
Second, with the "Play sound to phone speaker" tuned off, and the phone BT connected to the car, if I put the audio source on the car to BT, the navigation voice does indeed go to the car speakers.
I still have not figured out how to force waze to send the navigation sounds through the phone speakers while the phone is BT connected. I prefer it go through the phone speakers, as I would like to set the car to other audio sources instead of BT.
I'm having the same issue with Google Maps. My S6 was able to send the sounds through the speaker instead of Bluetooth but it seems to longer be possible on the S8... The setting used to be in Google Maps but it's no longer there.
Solution found!
I put in a ticket to Waze support and this absolutely cured it.
1. If you are using a voice (I was) that has including street names under the title, please tap Menu > and type [email protected] in the Search bar. This will clear your cache in Waze and should resolve the issue. To check if you're using this type of voice, tap Menu > Settings > Sound and check which voice you're using underneath Voice Directions.
2. Restart Waze
3. Turn on Settings > Sound and voice > play sound to speaker
Enjoy turn by turn navigation while the phone is BT connected to the car and is playing some other audio source.
This worked for me just now:good:
