Dear ardchoille,
You have received an infraction at xda-developers.
Reason: Commercial Links in Signature/Profile/Post
-------
Linking to sites with paid work is not allowed under XDA rules.
-------
This infraction is worth 3 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.
All the best,
xda-developers

The mods removed my "make a request link" in my signature.. I guess I'm no longer allowed to do custom artwork for the community. First they tell me that I can't link to my paid themes, but they don't do anything to people linking to paid apps. Now I get an infraction for having a "donate" links in my signature but tons of others are allowed to do this.
Why are these moderators singling me out for punishment when I'm doing the same things others are doing? Is this how we want our xda community managed?
1st off. I will come right out and say it.
NO ONE, I mean no one from the Team Whiskey Development Team sent in a complaint. We all appreciate everything you do for our team, so why would we do that.
2nd, Someone who says they are from Team Whiskey, that isn't the following:
Sombionix, ViralBlack, myself (Krylon360), DesignGears, Morfic, ardchoille, and SkOrPn; are lying.
And as far as the infraction, you may as well give EVERYONE who has a link in their sig that has Pay For stuff on that site a infraction, starting with me. Why, because we have a Donator's section.
Enjoy.
Krylon360 off XDA.
If you really are the only one treated this way, looks more like personal vendetta instead of forum moderation.
They have done this to me also, which i think it really stupid,
all i did was provide invites to a certain site, not post the link of the site here,so they banned me for 7 days, maybe those ppl need a life
and also new mods are allowed to break the rules but if membes do they get a warning
Since the OP has been posting links to paid/commercial software it falls under rules 7, 8 and 11 of the Forum rules
So this infraction was giving in full compliance with the rules.
If there are (as implied) other users who link to software with the intent to sell, please report them so we can evaluate and take the necessary actions.
If you think you are treated unfairly, please contact one of the board Admins, present your case in a rational matter and they will look into it.
Opening a thread isn't a good way to handle it.
Regards,
EquinoXe

If it isn't clear enough, you are clearly selling your work on XDA. Your signature was modified to remove the link to your website where you are selling the themes (in case you don't see any issue with that, this is known as advertising)
Just as my pm as well as pulser_g2's pm, we both quoted the rules that you are breaking by doing this. In case you missed them, here they are:
7. Do not spam.
If you wish to advertise a product, contact us we provide ads. But do not post it in the forums, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
You are however allowed to sell used goods like your own device, parts of your device or accessories for your device in the marketplace forum, please read the rules there before posting. (This rule includes signatures, if you use a signature it will appear in your post)

11. Don’t post with the intent on selling something.
As an elaboration to rule number 7, don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. If you are the proprietor of a for-pay product or service, you may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or offer support on the product, but you may not make any posts with the primary intent of selling. This includes posting press releases, announcements, or links to downloads for trial software; the only exception to this is when you’re posting an exclusive release to XDA. Off-site downloads are permitted as long as the site does not require a fee or mandatory registration to access the content.

@Krylon,
Your work and Team Whiskey's is fully featured on XDA and free of charge to members. Donations are only prohibited when they are asked up front as per Rule #8
8. Donations.
We appreciate all donations to xda-developers.com, it keeps our forum online and well maintained. As a user you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work. However donations up front are not allowed, this forum is about sharing, not about getting paid to do something, that's what your job is for.

There is nothing wrong with having Donate links in your signatures. Asking for donations in lieu of a service, product, etc is no longer a donation as is called selling.
So, before you all jump in trying to defend him, make sure that you read the rules first. Plain and simple. I am not acting on a vendetta (hell, I don't even know him). He is selling his work on XDA and that is against the rules. No ifs, no buts.
If you are all so hellbent on not reading the rules, you have a moderator among your ranks. Ask him and he will tell you the same exact thing I just did.
Per forum rule 11:
8. Donations.

As such, having threads open for the sole purpose of showcasing a theme requiring payment (I call this selling, but this could also be classified as requiring a donation up-front) is not acceptable.
Likewise with linking to these threads off-site, as that is advertising of your paid product.
Users are free to have a donation link in their signature or (recently added) button above the user profile. You are not allowed to require donations for access to work (selling), or offer to do work in exchange for donations (see end of rule 8 regarding up-front donations).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, on an unrelated note, posting invitations or offer of invitations, to sites engaging in the distribution of warez is not permitted on XDA, and re-adding the offer to a signature isn't acceptable behaviour. Rules 6 and 9 cover this.

Jeez...
First of, you were giving invites to D*******d, which is a warez site (one of the largest torrent trackers on the web). So, right there you broke Rule 6
6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, either pay or find your cracks and serials somewhere else. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained.

You were told once to remove the links in your siggy and since you didn't comply, these were removed for you. A few days later, we found out that you had placed these links again, so you got banned for it.
The "mod" breaking the rules that you are describing here was reprimanded for it. In case you guys are wondering, this is for posting an eBay link in a MP thread, which is not allowed. The link was removed and a warning was issued to him.
Is it against ToS here on XDA to offer a donation to get one on one help for phone problems? I just want to post a problem, offer payment for successful repair and connect with someone on here to receive support. I know this is a community based forum but didn't know if that was against ToS. Thanks!

hello, we know it well but alas any rom for our model (except the lineaos) of telephone comes out on telegram and not on xda as usual so how should we do when someone asks if such or such rom and output for the p7p? .we are here on a sharing forum so we have no choice but to share the information.
xda should ask the devs why they don't want to post their rom here anymore.

There is a reason XDA is basically forgotten among the mod community and this arrogant attitude only further supports why all of us now use Telegram.
The redesign of XDA was poorly implemented and to this day the XDA app is almost useless.
However, the real issue is forum moderators like this who seem to be on a power trip and oversee the forums with an iron fist. No one needs this and it only further pushes users away from what used to be a bastion for the modding community as a whole.
I'm very happy with the Telegram community. There are multiple roms already out for Cheetah and Panther with more being worked on as we speak. In fact, most developers migrated to Telegram a long time ago because of nonsense like this. Everyone is helpful and friendly without any arrogance or admins with power trips. The app works perfectly and it's much more user friendly. I suggest that anyone who is interested in the modding community to go to Telegram and drop XDA.

Why do you want to not make public the issues some XDA users have with how these boards are administered? Actually, I think I do know why and it only further supports what I said above and why user sentiment is where it currently is with XDA.

I think you´re wrong in this instance. And completely misunderstood the XDA environment.
If a ROM is posted on XDA, it is somehow related to its relevant forum and the people populating the forum.
If posted on Telegram or Baidu, or any other channel for that matter, it is not relevant to this group.

What kind of logic is this?
The point of the forums is for users to share information with each other regarding the device the forum is dedicated to. Just because devs don't want to post their work on XDA, no matter the reason, doesn't mean their work is not relevant to the discussion.

I prefer how XDA moderates the forums, nearly everywhere else they devolve into random, completely off topic garbage thats its impossible to find solutions and good info. Most groups on Telegram need to be shifted through hundreds of meaningless commentary to find the info needed.
Moderator Announcement
Greetings to all. Just thought I'd drop in to share what XDA is and isn't with regardss to TG links and discussion on XDA since this thread has apparently gone off the rails. But first, the rules that we are all required to follow which are stickied at the top of virtually every forum on XDA:
TG Chat Channel Rules:
Spoiler: TG Chat Rules
WhatsApp/Telegram Groups and Channels - Going Forward
Hello XDA family! Just notifying all members that posting certain links to Telegram and other sites like WhatsApp is now allowed on XDA.
What does that mean?
We will allow links to messages on Telegram and/or other platforms anywhere, as long as they provide content for a discussion, question, or is pertinent news. This is exactly like the guidelines for YouTube links.
What about download links?
Download links from hosts, platforms or other sources are allowed as long as they do not require registration. Some Telegram links require registration for downloads, so they will not be allowed. Please check them before posting.
What is NOT changing?
Only one link to a Telegram support group is allowed in the first post of a development thread on the condition that main support is still provided on XDA. This means you can mention Telegram group: https://t.me/abc in the first post as long as you're providing thorough support in your XDA thread.
What is NOT allowed?
Posts like For support, join my Telegram group: https://t.me/abc. This means you're not willing to provide support to users on XDA.
Drop-and-run posts/threads are still not allowed under the self-promotion rule. So posts/threads like "Come to my channel for xyz" or "Watch my video and like my channel" are still not allowed. Such links will be removed and the member will be contacted regarding XDA Forum Rule #5 for self-promotion (under bullet point #6):
Self-promotion is forbidden, this includes blogs, social media and video channels etc. Random links will be removed.

We thank all members for their cooperation in this matter, and wish you a pleasant stay on XDA.

While I realize that many members like TG for it's real time capability, simply posting TG links that "require" XDA users to register for TG is not acceptable.
If you wish to post DL links to TG that do not require registration, then that is fine. All we're asking is for members to keep as much discussion as possible on XDA since that is why most of us are here for in the first place.
We also realize that TG may in fact be the future of android development since there are virtually no rules to govern such discussions, which of course appeals to many. Having said that,
consider this, would you have even known about those groups in the first place if someone didn't share it first on XDA?
I also understand that many members do not enjoy what some may interpret certain Moderator actions as "Power tripping" or "Iron Fisted." This is often a misunderstanding as to what the Mods on XDA are tasked with doing in the first place, which is simply to make sure that the rules are followed, and that's it. Are we going to make mistakes? Absolutly we will, as will members that wish to dispute our actions, which is why we we prefer to take such disagreements to PM's in order to prevent threads from going OT as this one did. Which is why respect, cooperation, and understanding is a two way street with regards to all the rules on XDA.
Going forward, all we're asking is for members to respect and follow the Forum Rules whether you agree with them or not as I must do as well. If anyone wishes to discuss
the rules with me, or any Moderator actions in a polite and civil manner, them my PM inbox is always open. In the mean time, please let us return to "On topic" discussion of this thread,
and hope everyone has a great day.
Best regards: Badger50
I know I'm slightly late and that my esteemed teammate @Badger50 already cleaned this thread but I assessed that all the posts with a content like "PM me the Telegram link" are off-topic in a thread that intends to share information about ROM availability. I've removed such posts.

Although @Starzboy77 propagates that all "interested in the modding community" to leave XDA behind, I see that he's still available on XDA and didn't go ahead as a good example. I can only speculate about the reasons. @Starzboy77 here's the link to conformably obliterate all your traces on XDA:

On the other hand, if you decide to stay (something I'd really appreciate) I must ask you to review the XDA Forum Rules prior to your next posting and to determine if you really want to continue to post off-topic e.g. in this threads. If you like to rant or complain about the XDA Forums here is a complete forum, in which you certainly either find an already suitable thread or that allows you to post your own one:

Alternatively, as you seem to be very unhappy "with how these boards are administered" I invite you to initiate the in your views required changes from inside of the XDA staff and to apply as a forum moderator when you've reached the required 500 forum posts but I know this would mean you can't drop XDA:

On a somewhat related note, I wanted to inform everyone here who cares about root and passing safetynet that you cannot choose Graphene OS, or else you will always be failing hardware attestation even with safetynet-fix and magiskhideprops. Also, LSPosed will not work on Graphene OS, no matter what. I personally found CalyxOS to be almost suitable, but not quite, for the sole reason that I could not log into Pokémon GO with my Google account, which is a necessity for me. I've been happily on the unofficial LineageOS with MindTheGapps and have had zero issues for my personal needs (spoofing pogo location, and normal root stuff).

I agree with everything said here. as a Dev of going on a decade. i hate telegram. but it seemed like its where everyone went and then i just forget about XDA . I think telegram is a sespool. XDA has legitemcy to it as well. its not the mods its the users that pushed away a lot of devs. they don't read anything we go through the trouble of writing up like changelogs or directions or how to take a log or they argue with us about something they know nothing about and it gets really frustrating and we get less motivated to come back and deal with that bs. thats why. so its U GUYS not the mods. if there were no mods this forum would be full of porn and neo nazi memes ... get real people.. on that note. god damnit who leaked my spark build . oh well , cats out of the bag now.. i'll make a post in a bit....
