Can't open downloads from Chrome or see them in the Files app - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

Hello all this is my first post so forgive me if I make any mistakes. I have a Pixel 3 that was updated to Android 10 a couple of days ago. It worked just fine, but I wanted to make the phone more "fresh" so I factory reset it. Everything worked fine until I tried installing some APKS. Even though Chrome has permission to install files from unknown sources, every time I click on the file in Downloads on Chrome it says: "Can't open file." I tried multiple apks and the same thing happened. I also tried PDFs to see if it is a bigger problem and it is. I can't open them either. I also tried downloading photos and they won't show up either in the Photos app where they would be normally. It seems like nothing can be opened. In the native Google Files app nothing appears under downloads. I tried "show system" and digging through folders and there is nothing. I tried unistalling Chrome updates and reinstalling, clearing cache, clearing storage, cycling the phone on and off to no avail. I'm truly at a lost here. It seems like something got broken during the factory reset, but everything else is fine. Thank you.

Sorry but that is because of file storage protection. For browsers I use all but Chrome for file downloads. It is possible for other than Chrome browser to access download files. Kiwi, Firefox are my favorites. Until developers break and might not file protection is here with 10.

Market has disappeared

I'm using Cyanogenmod 5.0.7.1 on my Nexus One. Recently, it's been going through some random reboots, mostly while i'm on Pandora (music streaming app), but that's another matter probably. I don't think it's related, but after the last reboot, i noticed that the home screen icon where I usually have my Market app was a generic icon without a label. I should have tried to open it, but I trashed it instead.
I went into the apps menu to find the real market app to create another shortcut. It wasn't there. Application Manager (Settings -> Applications -> Manage; Filter:ALL) didn't show Market app, but did show "com.android.vending". Details window for that entry showed Application size of 0.00, with Data 108KB and Cache 1.79MB. So it appears Market app somehow got un-installled or deleted.
I hooked the device up to my computer, and `adb shell`ed to poke around. The directory listing for /system/app/ showed a "Vending.apk", so I copied it over to /sdcard, and tried to install from SD, but that didn't work, presumably because the installation it would overwrite is in /system/.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? I have no idea how the Market application disappeared. Is there a way to restore it without having to re-flash the the ROM?
Please help!

To answer my own question, and for anyone who's interested, I followed the instructions at the CyanogenMod Wiki (wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Troubleshooting#Market_Broken), and it's working fine now.

[Q] Monopoly images showing up in gallery, how to remove?

Does anyone here play the Monopoly game by EA? In my device, all of the game assets show up in the gallery and there are a lot of them.
I have gone through putting '.nomedia' files in them, rebooting, cache clearing, force stopping the gallery but nothing works.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
PS Similar thread in the Galaxy Tab area yielded no luck.
You're .nomedia file has a "." at the front?
yup '.nomedia' copied it from the copilot folder whose files do not show up in the gallery so im sure it is the correct system file, zero bytes
clear "media manager" cache after putting .nomedia inside "games" folder, then reboot, it won't work otherwise (i think it's a bug in the media manager)
is Media Manager the same as Media Storage? I dont seem to have Media Manager in my application list
yes sorry i did it few days ago (i had gallery spammed from monopoly too) and didnt remember the name correctly
Thanks Christian Troy, everything seems to be in order now, although on the first reboot nothing but web albums were showing up, now it looks pretty fine, I'll just have to remember to clear the media storage if it happens on another installation. XDA OWNS!
yes because you have to wait till the end of the scan (which can take some time if you have a lot of folders of image / video / music)
that thing made me go crazy... i fixed it the first time clearing all the cache, but few days ago i tried that way and worked

[Q] Ads.bin file auto downloading in chrome for android

Sometimes when I am using google chrome ads.bin file auto downloads on my phone. It seems like the problem occurs on very different web pages (happened here on xda too). I already checked my phone with avg and malwarebytes but nothing showed up. Is anyone else having the same issues or has any info about that?
EDIT: Okay, I discovered that Chrome automatically saves .apk files as .bin files (security related?). So .apk file is actually trying to get on my phone. I found a verry similar issue here, but without any real explanation: forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one-x/210532-url-bin-download-finished-what.html

[Q] Aptoide backups

When I attempt to backup (upload) my apps to aptoide, using either Aptoide Backup, or Aptoide Uploader, it doesn't show all of my installed apps in the list.. so I can't find any way to back these up. Years ago, I was able to find a way around this, by playing with my files, but I feel like I've tried everything with no success. My tablet is rooted, and I viewed the aptoide database files which showed all my installed apps correctly... but again, I don't see all of them when I try to upload. And, all of my apps are correctly listed in my data/app folder. Does anyone have a solution to this? I'd appreciate it.

Desktop User Agent on Chrome

Hello everybody
I have just upgraded from, I believe, Lollipop to Nougat on my Nexus 6. On the old OS I had Chrome use Desktop mode on default. I distinctly remember that I did it with chrome-command-line in /data/local.
I tried that again, I copied the file, removed the .txt and set permissions to 755. I tried rebooting and killing chrome. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it with Titanium Backup. Nothing. about://version still shows android.
Does anybody know how I can beat this damn browser into submission?
Regards,
Marco
Nobody has any idea that might help?
Been looking for a solution to this too.
