[Q] Ads.bin file auto downloading in chrome for android - General Questions and Answers

Sometimes when I am using google chrome ads.bin file auto downloads on my phone. It seems like the problem occurs on very different web pages (happened here on xda too). I already checked my phone with avg and malwarebytes but nothing showed up. Is anyone else having the same issues or has any info about that?
EDIT: Okay, I discovered that Chrome automatically saves .apk files as .bin files (security related?). So .apk file is actually trying to get on my phone. I found a verry similar issue here, but without any real explanation: forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one-x/210532-url-bin-download-finished-what.html

File Download Issues

I just got my gtab just last Sunday and so far I really like it. I just downloaded and applied the new OTA update (3389-very smooth update)and for the most part, the unit is stock.
I've had from the very beginning a problem, however, with downloads. I can download all the apps I want from the apps store or using the browser with no problem, but anything else just won't go. Whether it's Aldiko books from their program or their web site, or using the web browser to download any other type file--doesn't matter--nothing downloads.
I have not rooted it yet, but really that shouldn't matter. Has anyone else experience this? Any solutions?
I'm able to mount the unit to my pc and drag and drop all the files I want on to the main sd, so just about everything else works great.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jerry
OK, the more I work with the gtab, the more I'm beginning to realize that my problem has to do with file associations. My browser will not download anything that's not a pdf or apk. So, gurus, I've looked around the system and haven't found a gui/app/place where I can add these associations or tell the browse to just download and I'll make the decision.
So, now that I have more information, any ideas on how I can get the system to download what I want though the browser? Or, is anther browser the answer.

Stock Gallery App not refreshing

Ok, this is probably a simple fix that I cannot seem to figure out. I have googled this OVER AND OVER with several old suggestions but nothing works. I assumed that the problem was rom based on my old phone, and hoped that I wouldnt have the issue on my new nexus.
The phone is a unlocked rooted stock Nexus 5 on the latest build. The problem is when I make changes in FX file explorer re-arraning photos to different folders, those changes do not reflect in the gallery app. I hit refresh, and no luck. I try connecting to the pc and that partially works. By partially I mean this. Say I moved 10 photos from Download to a new Nature folder, well SOMETIMES after I connect the phone to the pc, it will partially refresh meaning it may show the new folder but 5 photos will be in the new one, and 5 in the download folder. But when you go to FX file explorer, everything is organized correctly. Same on the pc folder tree.
Any suggestions for this? The problem is so random its driving me nuts....
Update: Never really thought to try using another file explorer, but ES File Explorer doesnt seem to have an issue updating the gallery :/. Guess I'll use that unless someone knows of a fix with FX.

Can't open downloads from Chrome or see them in the Files app

Hello all this is my first post so forgive me if I make any mistakes. I have a Pixel 3 that was updated to Android 10 a couple of days ago. It worked just fine, but I wanted to make the phone more "fresh" so I factory reset it. Everything worked fine until I tried installing some APKS. Even though Chrome has permission to install files from unknown sources, every time I click on the file in Downloads on Chrome it says: "Can't open file." I tried multiple apks and the same thing happened. I also tried PDFs to see if it is a bigger problem and it is. I can't open them either. I also tried downloading photos and they won't show up either in the Photos app where they would be normally. It seems like nothing can be opened. In the native Google Files app nothing appears under downloads. I tried "show system" and digging through folders and there is nothing. I tried unistalling Chrome updates and reinstalling, clearing cache, clearing storage, cycling the phone on and off to no avail. I'm truly at a lost here. It seems like something got broken during the factory reset, but everything else is fine. Thank you.
Sorry but that is because of file storage protection. For browsers I use all but Chrome for file downloads. It is possible for other than Chrome browser to access download files. Kiwi, Firefox are my favorites. Until developers break and might not file protection is here with 10.

APK s keep getting removed

Hi. Just got the P30 and all is good and fine until I noticed it is constantly deleting the APK files I move to its internal storage. Every time I copy at a certain time they get deleted. I can see several folders getting updated at the same time but I cannot figure out why it does that. I thought there is something wrong with the files, but they seem ok. I can install any app and it remains on my phone. Does anyone know why it is doing this?

You should probably check in the app Optimiser > Settings > Auto-clean junk files
Thanks @ykkhern. It looks like it was the online virus scan in optimizer that deleted. Good to know

My phone downloads a file named Downloadfile.bin by itself

Hi everyone,
My phone (Xiaomi 9T) downloads a file named Downloadfile.bin by itself. If I delete the file, my phone downloads it again after 2 or 3 days.
Sometimes (but less often) it also downloads additional files with the same name variations such as Downloadfile-2.bin, Downloadfile-3.bin.
I have no idea what those files are since I did not download them myself. The only info that I have is the begining of their URL source : storage.googleapis.com/mlkit_models_
I have scanned my phone with Avast, Malwarebytes, and the Xiaomi antivirus app. So far, no prositive results have been found.
Do you know what those files are? Why my phone downloads them? Could they be malwares or viruses?
Thanks a lot for your help
