When I was installing lineage, it will start the boot, but after a while, it reboots and enters twrp, any ideas why?

Same here with lineage-16.0-20190925-nightly-oneplus3. It goes through description, displays the boot animation for a while and then reboots into recovery (TWRP)

So I was installing a new rom, going from the latest Cataclysm 5.1 to the latest Chroma 5.1.1, and before that I did a nandroid backup. I attempted a clean flash and formatted /system but the installation on CWM would get stuck at "patching system image unconditionally" and freezes up, (unless it stays at that stage in the installation for a long period such as 3 minutes +). I then shut the phone off and went back into recovery to restore from my backup. After restoring the phone is now stuck in the boot animation. I'm not sure how long it should stay like that since I have heard some boot's taking quite a while. It does not go to the google logo, the colored balls just keep spinning. Is there anyway to get back on Cataclysm even if it is not my backup OR get Chroma to install? I do not have USB debugging enabled on my phone but I am still able to access recovery and fastboot. I do not have the .zip files for any other ROM on my device currently.
EDIT: I have just done a factory reset in recovery and went to reboot system. I am still in the boot animation.

Irrelevant. Adb sideload a rom .zip or fastboot flash a factory image.
Fyi, ElementalX is a kernel, not a rom.

First off, get rid of CWM and flash twrp.
Then wipe /data, /system, then reflash your ROM, no gapps.
Does it boot?
Ok, so I had to reinstall my OS through TWRP (2GB Full update)... and rebooting to the Bootloader to reinstall TWRP and rebooting again, I want to install Magisk again.
When I install Magisk through TWRP and reboot, the boot animation is stuck forever and animates very slowly. The only way to get out is to press VOL UP + POWER and inmediately VOL DOWN + POWER to enter TWRP. To fix the stuck boot animation I have to reinstall the full OxygenOS update and reinstall TWRP.
My problem is that I'm in this vicious cicle where if I install Magisk it doesn't work and I have to reinstall the OS and TWRP.
What am I missing? Why Magisk is making my device stuck on the boot screen?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
I had that earlier today. For me I switched to the other partition from twrp and rebooted and it worked fine. Guess I'll flash ROM and magisk to both partitions next time

So let me make sure I understood you. I need to switch to Slot B and also install the OS and Magisk?
OK, an update. After trying to switch slots, install the OS in both of them and Magisk and all the possible permutations, I tried flashing 19.4 and it worked flawlessly first time.
Now I'm going to update it!
Update 2: I'm finally running the latest version! Updating Magisk through Magisk Manager worked fine.

I have the same issue with the slow boot animation and the endless loading. I tried to install the OTA again, TWRP again and magisk 20.1, 20.0, 19.4 ...
Sadly the animation stays that slow and my OP7Pro doesnt boot up. How exactly did you get rid of that problem? I feel like I tried every combination of flashing

I had this with PA. Not sure what caused it as my flashing process is the same every time.
In the end I gave up and formatted /data

I decided to give up too... Was a bad mistake. I accidentely rebooted the phone after the update today. I will never do that mistake again
That dreadful moment when you have this problem again and googling points you to your own thread with no solutions.
UPDATE: Oh I think I got it! I had to uninstall Magisk Manager AND flash Magisk Uninstaller zip, reboot to OS, reboot to Recovery again and flash Magisk 20.3 again and it finally worked! No more stuck slow boot animation.
Probably the two reboots aren't needed, but I like doing things slow.
Need some help, I keep getting a infinite boot animation. I tried to install LineageOS (thread) on my G920F three times and let them all boot for about an hour without success.
This is the order of how I flashed it:
1. Wipe Davik, System, Data and Cache
2. Flash the LineageOS zip
3. Flash the Zerofltexx kernel img
4. First try flashed OpenGAPPS, second try flashed MindTheGAPPS and third try didn't flash GAPPS at all
5. Reboot and wait, after an hour still booting
Any idea's of what I'm doing wrong?
Fixed my issue!
Hi!
I had the same issue as you, followed the guides and installed TWRP through ODIN and flashed the OS through TWRP to boot it.
When I booted the device it just got stuck indefinitely on the loading animation (the Lineageos loading logo in my case).
Since you and some others had the same issue as me I assumed it was something to do with a new version of some software.
I resolved the issue by installing an older version of TWRP through ODIN,
I installed the TWRP version 3.2.3.
And then I flashed the same ROM with the GAPPS again.
After the ROM and GAPPS I also flashed MAGISK aswell from the magiskmanager website.
Download the MAGISK Zip.
After I flashed the ROM, GAPPS and MAGISK through the TWRP 3.2.3 it booted as intended.
Hope this works for you aswell!
how long did it take to boot
First Boot needs longer...up to 15 minutes is possible.

Remove the TWRP from the phone via the advance key in TWRP. I had tried several ROMs and Gapps only to get stuck on the boot screen then back to the TWRP screen. Removing the app made my new rom boot in less than 10 seconds.
If you can give us exactly the steps you follow
Lineageos 17 boot animation stuck

Steps (I have followed the instructions to the letter)
Wiped all partitions (advanced wipe)
formatted DATA partition
rebooted back into recovery
installed Lineage 17 and Gapps
Rebooted to system and left it all day, still stuck on boot animation
Tried again without gapps same results
Tried other roms they work, AOSP showing no encryption which works fine
What am I doing wrong? Do I have to flash different kernel? TWRP 3.3.1 installed.
Im using G920L it booting to long then just go to twrp anyhelp?
Helpful

For reference, formatting data after install seems to often be the solution when flashing a new OS to a Moto G5 Plus.

These steps solved my issue. thanks
My Phone was running Android 11 perfectly fine. Has been for about a week and a half, and I've decided that I don't like the OS. I was going to flash a custom ROM and went to create a nandroid before flashing. Literally all I did was boot into recovery and TWRP got stuck in a bootloop, the TWRP splash screen appears, crashes and then reappears about 2 seconds later, now when I try to boot back into system, TWRP appears instead and continues to bootloop. I can enter fastboot mode but that's all.
So far I've tried
Booting TWRP through fastboot. Failed another bootloop.
Rebooting through ADB. Boots into TWRP.
Rebooting Bootloader. Seems to do nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this ? It seems strange to me that something as simple as booting recovery could do this much harm. I also have a nandroid backup stored on the device from about a month ago, so the data loss wouldn't be THAT major, but I'm also not sure how I could access it without system or recovery access.
Hi , Which version of TWRP use? I think there is an update a new version TWRP 3.5.2 , Try to flash it. if its still not booting try to boot the original Boot of OOS11.
May be this threads will help you.

New version does not work as well. Flash the stock boot img to get out of bootloop.

Hello, I'm Poco X3 NFC User,
I had Official Lineage 18.1 installed in my device, with Oragne Fox as Recovery,
Yesterday Tried to Dirty Flash Baikaal OS, ( Found in Poco X3 Telegram Group),
it Showed the Rom boot logo and then restarted to recovery,
cleared dalvik/Cache, Room did boot to welcome screen and restarted happened 2-3 times,
Booted to Recovery , formatted system, cleared cache, and installed AOSP Extended from XDA,
it behaved exactly the same , Rom boots to welcome screen and restarts in split second,
And Orange Fox Recovery also kept restarting on Recovery Splash Screen,
Tried Installing Orange Fox Recovery via Fastboot, Still Restarts on Splash Screen,
Tried TWRP 3.5.0-0 By mahajant99 via fastboot, it flashes but keeps restarting to Recovery Splash Screen,
So, Right now I'm Unable to boot to Rom, or recovery.
Rom restarts after Welcome Screen, And Recovery on the Splash Screen.
What can be done??
Any help would be appreciated.

You shouldn't have done that. Always do a clean flash when changing ROMs.
To solve your problem, flash this fastboot ROM (5.3 GB) and don't relock bootloader:
Xiaomi Firmware Updater
The ultimate script that provides firmware packages for Xiaomi devices.
xiaomifirmwareupdater.com
When your phone reboots, simply always "skip" till it's up and running.
Install a recent TWRP. You will find one on this forum.
Install your ROM according to instructions
