Stuck on LineageOS boot animation (first boot taking 1h+) - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Need some help, I keep getting a infinite boot animation. I tried to install LineageOS (thread) on my G920F three times and let them all boot for about an hour without success.
This is the order of how I flashed it:
1. Wipe Davik, System, Data and Cache
2. Flash the LineageOS zip
3. Flash the Zerofltexx kernel img
4. First try flashed OpenGAPPS, second try flashed MindTheGAPPS and third try didn't flash GAPPS at all
5. Reboot and wait, after an hour still booting
Any idea's of what I'm doing wrong?

Fixed my issue!
Hi!
I had the same issue as you, followed the guides and installed TWRP through ODIN and flashed the OS through TWRP to boot it.
When I booted the device it just got stuck indefinitely on the loading animation (the Lineageos loading logo in my case).
Since you and some others had the same issue as me I assumed it was something to do with a new version of some software.
I resolved the issue by installing an older version of TWRP through ODIN,
I installed the TWRP version 3.2.3.
And then I flashed the same ROM with the GAPPS again.
After the ROM and GAPPS I also flashed MAGISK aswell from the magiskmanager website.
Download the MAGISK Zip.
After I flashed the ROM, GAPPS and MAGISK through the TWRP 3.2.3 it booted as intended.
Hope this works for you aswell!

how long did it take to boot

First Boot needs longer...up to 15 minutes is possible.

i have same probleme wtih my samsungs6 g920f i wiil try it ...hope it work ....

Remove the TWRP from the phone via the advance key in TWRP. I had tried several ROMs and Gapps only to get stuck on the boot screen then back to the TWRP screen. Removing the app made my new rom boot in less than 10 seconds.

If you can give us exactly the steps you follow

Steps (I have followed the instructions to the letter)
Wiped all partitions (advanced wipe)
formatted DATA partition
rebooted back into recovery
installed Lineage 17 and Gapps
Rebooted to system and left it all day, still stuck on boot animation
Tried again without gapps same results
Tried other roms they work, AOSP showing no encryption which works fine
What am I doing wrong? Do I have to flash different kernel? TWRP 3.3.1 installed.

Im using G920L it booting to long then just go to twrp anyhelp?

For reference, formatting data after install seems to often be the solution when flashing a new OS to a Moto G5 Plus.

Cannot boot into TWRP after flashing CM12.1 nightly

Hi.
Today I wanted to upgrade from CM11 to CM12.1, but I had to upgrade the bootloader first. It all worked and I'm now on bootloader version 41.18.
When I flashed the ROM it flashed in 20 seconds from an USB stick. It seemed a little to fast. When I rebooted it worked fine and I was on Android 5.1.1, but after installing SuperSU and rebooting I stuck into a bootloop.
I'm now in a bootloop and when I try to enter the recovery the TWRP splash screen comes up, but then it goes into the bootloop again.
I have the XT1032 and my TWRP version is 2.8.6.0 and I have a TWRP backup from CM11
If someone could push me in the right direction how I can access TWRP then that would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Quick update
The phone now booted into TWRP, but when I do a restore to my backup the phone goes back to the bootloop. The same happens when I try to wipe.

I have the same issue, cannot get into twrp, how did you managed to boot into TWRP?
i had same issues in my moto g xt1032 i tried below CM12.1 works without issues.
go recovery --- wipe---- format data
and try step install steps like install rom zip & gapps
Ok, first what do you use to flash recovery, can you reflash recovery with the lastest TWRP version (2.8.7.0) and post back the logs here? Then tell me if you can get into recovery
Its common place that twrp cause bootloop with backups.
No problem try to
Install new twrp using fastboot mode it will be work fine

Phone not booting up

So apparently after many days of using CM13.1
Yesterday i tried tried Carbon Rom( Yep the new build of 14.1)
Used it for 2 days then thought of rooting it.
Flashed the latest SR3 Supersu package and was working fine.
Flashed Arise V4A and changed SELinux to permissive and then the phone won't boot properly up.
Either it would get to the boot anim then get bootlooped again or completely shut down.
I tried restoring nandroid, but same result.
Tried flashing different roms, fastboot images of COS12.1,11,13.1 and even tried OPO toolkit
All results in the same bootloop/shutdown in boot anim.
Any help would be nice !
Update : Tried AOSPe and worked for a while until i clicked on Facebook and it shut down completely ;-;
TWRP works but when i flash roms it shuts down
If you have access to twrp, wipe data, cache, dalvik.
If it still doesn't boot flash stock cos13.1 ROM from fastboot.

Please help! My phone shows a black screen after I try to boot into the system!

Hello all,
After I wiped my system, I tried to install the latest Magisk (From the official MagiskManager website) and then, after I wiped again, and tried to reboot, my phone just showed a black screen it wouldn't even show the unlocked bootloader warning or the boot logo and when I charge it, the LED flashes constantly (I'm not sure what that means) therefore I have to boot back into the recovery or the bootloader as there is no system. I looked at the system files and there was nothing there although the Lineage OS flashed successfully.
Can anyone help me?
I'm not sure whether my phone is bricked or something as every other time I did it (2 times) there were no problems.
Version of Lineage OS I tried to install (lineage-14.1-20180108-nightly-athene-signed.zip)
Device: Motorola Moto G4 2016 (Athene)
Custom Recovery: TWRP 3.0.2.0
Magsik Version: Magisk-v15.3.zip
Thanks in advance!
You never wipe system unless you are flashing a rom. You pretty much removed the OS and then tried. To boot it.

phone boots into bootloader mode, even with a fresh rom flash??

Hi. i need some help.
I have a huge problem regarding getting my one plus 6 back up and running.
Here is what i did.
Downloaded a rom, gapps and magisk.
wipe in twrp, install, rom, gapps. worked fine, booted up rom.
when i flashed the lastest version of magisk, it boots into bootloader.
Then i did a DATA wipe. start a fresh boot.
*booted twrp via adb.
* pushed, rom, gapps, twrp into sdcard.
* installed, rom, twrp, gapps. reboot.
goes directly into boot loader.
WHAT DO I DO? my phone is screwed.
EDIT: Room bug. nothing wrong with phone or recovery. just bug in the rom.

Save everything from SD card to PC and try with:
fastboot -w
Then just try installing ROM
And rebooting to it.
Worry about gapps etc after,.
Possibly bad download too
Did you try booting into the other partition. A/B?
Use magisk 16.4 and then you can update thro the app. 16.7 has a flash bug
From seeing him in another thread I think he got it

when a wipe does not get it working, then ( sadly ) go to the next step of "format data", but "BACKUP" stuff you want to keep ( ie. /storage/emulated/0/Download ) to pc first . . .
( it's what I had to do )
Same issue here...
Tried to fromat data but still boot into fastboot.

Had the same problem, boot to temporary TWRP with the fastboot command "fastboot boot <twrp img>", wipe /system and then try flashing stock ROM via fastboot, it worked for me, hope it helps. Good luck! :good:

Help wanted: Device shutting off, rebooting to stock recovery when booted

Dear op7p xda community,
A few months ago, I rooted my device and flashed TWRP succesfully. After a stock OTA (still Pie), I lost both. Today, I wanted to re-root and re-flash TWRP. I used mauronofrio's Tool All In One 2.0.0.7 for this. I didn't flash TWRP, but booted it and used that to flash Magisk 19.4. Now, I wanted to see if the rooting process was successful, so I booted the OS. Unfortunately, once it boots and reaches the lockscreen, the "shutting off..." prompt immediately shows and reboots me into the stock recovery.
Edit: I now flashed TWRP after booting TWRP again and ran Magisk to root it again. Unfortunately, the problem persists (only now reboots to TWRP instead of stock recovery). Help is much appreciated!
Can someone help me get my phone to work again? Thanks a lot in advance!
Regards,
Wouty

Thank you for your reply. I am now on TWRP 3.3.1-4 (latest). I have tried to factory reset and wipe the phone in hopes of getting it to start properly again, but now the OS doesn't even boot and immediately reboots me into TWRP. I have now tried to flash 3 different stock, official ROMs, both International and Europe, like OnePlus7ProOxygen_21.O.14_OTA_014_all_1907281611. I used the recommended flashing instructions (flash ROM, flash TWRP, reboot TWRP, flash Magisk) But none of them boot at all. Only TWRP is usable now. I don't know what to do

When it reboots back to TWRP try to format data if that doesn't work then you need to use MSM tool.

Thanks for your reply. I had indeed wiped data, but that worsened the situation (not booting at all, instead of rebooting once booted). I have now tried this https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-7-pro-t3931424 and it now seems to be booting (booting animation on-going for quite some time now, though). I will keep you posted. If it doesn't work, I'll look into the MSM tool. Thanks for the suggestion!

That is the latest official TWRP for this device. The official builds don't support Android 10, as decryption is not supported, so that may be part of your problem. The latest unofficial is -70, and I believe you need to use build -65 or later for Android 10.

Wipe is not the same as format. In TWRP, go to Wipe section, and you will see a button "Format data".
If you are now stuck on a boot loop, try booting into twrp and clearing cache. If you still can't boot, then i recommend downloading the full official rom and flashing it via fastboot. This will remove twrp and u'll end up with stock recovery and everything. Then after that follow proper instructions to install twrp first, then clear cache. Then magisk, and clear cache.

Trying to flash an official ROM via fastboot for a second time did indeed solve the problem for me. Now able to boot. Now backing up everything to make sure I'm able to solve these issues faster in the future. Thanks to all for your input!
