Why am I able to get LTE in LOS and PE but not in MIUI? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi, does anyone have an idea on why I am not able to connect to 4g towers on MIUI when in the same location I am able to when I have LOS or PE? Does Xiaomi disable some of the bands? And if yes why, what's the point? Also I know I get LTE for sure because when I do speed tests I get over 40down 10up and when I use MIUI and do a speed test I get like 5down 2up or something like that because it's hspa+. On LOS I have even been able to connect to LTE+ towers. So does anyone have an idea if Xiaomi disables some of the bands?
Thanks in advance

indoor i am getting nothng with jio network no signal but when i go outside signal came but internet speed is crap, its xiaomi buggy roms always

[Q] Question about bands/3.5G

1) How can I tell if my phone is running on a 3.5G network? I am on T-Mobile in Virginia Beach, VA.
2) I know there are different bands out there for different carriers, so can I change to a band that can get me better 3G coverage? I have slooooow 3G coverage where I am right now.
Any help in the right direction would be awesome, and don't be afraid to dumb it down for me. I am getting pretty savvy on all this phone stuff, but bands still elude me.
Hi
until recently, 3.5G was known as HSPA7.2. If your device shows "H", then your device can use the HSPA (real) speeds.
If so, and your browsing is slow, then this is mainly due to saturation and low signal strength, but exists more factors.
To use another bands, you must change the service provider (and change your device). No manually way to do it.
Best regards

I recently visited Jacksonville Florida where my CM7 Rom showed me I was running on 4g. When I came back home to Virginia Beach it is showing me a H. Stock rom shows me as 4g but CM7 still shows me as H (HSPA). Is this truly telling me that I am operating on 3.5G network here in Virginia Beach?

Can you change LTE network band with Root?

Hi,
I'm having speed issues on OnePlus 7 using Jio. While the internet is relatively more smooth on Moto G5+.
One thing I did note was when connected to a phone call, it gets faster speeds.
I'm not sure if changing the band could affect anything.
While looking into it I came across https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/how-to/root-change-network-band-internet-speed-t4015883
My phone is not rooted, so not sure if it'll be able to change the band similarly.
Asking if someone can confirm.
Thanks.
Works
Rooted it myself and it does work.
Unfortunately didn't affect Jio's connection on either band.
Moto G5+ gets more signal strength than OnePlus 7 huh.

it works just "Network signal guru" app(mentioned in op link) does not support dual sim for basic users
try this
it has dual sim support for free users
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=make.more.r2d2.google.cellular_pro
and make sure you take carrier aggregation into consideration while making changes to bands of respected carrier.
good luck

T-Mobile US

Anyone using the Poco F2 Pro on T-Mobile in the US?
I am. Reception is no different than my T-mobile OP 7pro. The F2pro also don't have tmobile 5g bands.
I tried to reply on Reddit to your question, but guess it didnt show due to low post count. I'm using a Xiaomi Mi 10 Global in the USA and I have VoLTE enabled over a Tmobile MVNO. Wifi calling does not really work properly, at least with the provided IMS settings. As stated above, 5G will NOT work in the USA due to Xiaomi missing necessary USA 5G bands; and 4G LTE may be a hit or miss depending on your area. As long as you're not getting the phone for 5G, it's an excellent purchase! It's not going to be necessary to have a 5G enabled phone for many years anyways, 4G is really fast enough. Hope this helps

Are you getting voLTE on T-Mobile? If so, did you have to use the dialer code to enable it?

Thanks for the info. I currently have a Mi 9 and have voLTE on T-Mobile and Fi (I did have to use the dialer code). I was just wondering if it's different for the F2 considering it lacks band 12 that the Mi 9 has. Looks like the Mi 10 global has the same bands as the F2, and you're getting voLTE, so I should be good. I also had a Mi A2 in the past, which had bands 2 and 4, which was fine, but voLTE wouldn't work, even with the dialer code. So calls defaulted to 3G, and I would constantly miss calls because it wouldn't ring. I just want to make 100% sure I can get voLTE with the F2 before buying.

Yes I'm getting voLTE and voWifi. I used the dialer code but the funny thing is to enable both I actually had to disable them. Even though after the code I get a prompt that the they're disable they are actually enabled.

No problem. I had Google Fi on my Pixel, then got the SIM to use for the Xiaomi Mi 10 Global and everything worked, but I just ended up going with another cheaper MVNO for Tmobile. The only complaint I have is generally I receive like 1-2 bars of reception in my house, when I go about 2 miles out it will jump up to 4+ bars. So when you receive your F2 Pro after setting up the APN settings, ensure in "preferred network type" it is 5G and not LTE! It will obviously not connect with 5G and default back to 4G LTE, but I had a random bug when setting it manually to 4G without voLTE, my phone calls would cut out at exactly 8minutes on the dot, NO Idea why that would happen, just giving you a warning lol. You don't need to use the dialer code by the way, you can set the "Use VoLTE" in the Mobile Network Settings and you will see a VoLTE button ontop. Have fun with your future F2, it's a great purchase .

Question 3g connectivity on pixel 7 pro

I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated from my p7p cellular connectivity, especially 3G.
It is almost nonexistent, I tried to flash multiple roms , factory images , different carriers , rooting , with no use.
I tried using network guru to force the modem to use wcdma , with no luck .. I spotted my phone using wcdma UMTS couple of times , so there is no defect in the modem .
I'm always unreachable unless I forced it to use GSM .
Any idea how to resolve it , or workaround it ?
Can I erase modemst1 /2 and check ,or it is risky ?
Please I need help
Are you in the USA? Because 3G is either phased out or will be very soon for most networks.
I have to ask "why" are you trying to use 3G? The phone is capable of 5G and in the event that 5G is spotty you can turn 5G off and use 4G/LTE exclusively which will allow you to make calls and have data access at the same time. 3G is nearly obsolete. YMMV

I know, but here in Jordan ,3g still active for calls , volte is only provided by one carrier. And naturally, you won't be able to call using only lte coz by default, when you make a call , the phone switches from lte to 3g, and when 3g is unavailable it switches to GSM . And it's going to take long time to switch between those bands. I'm mostly unreachable by this process
So by default it's NR/LTE/ wcdma / GSM ..

Meanwhile here people have no idea what volte is and carriers dont enable it by default, i have to call them to enable it for me every time i switch a phone. 3G is still the most used network for calls there, even though 4G has even better and more stable coverage. I live in the european union.
I am only familiar with 3G with Verizon in the United States with the US version of the p7p with Verizon modem. The bands associated with 3G Verizon work well when you are outside of major cities and go more rural. But, max speeds of CDMA with Verizon bands are sub optimal at 1mbps. The call quality is great though as the old Verizon commercials "can you hear me now" reflect.

5G Signal Issues on Android Phones

Hi all,
Recently I've had the Pixel 7 Pro, S22 Ultra and S23+ and every phone has issues keeping a 5G signal. I use AT&T and my iPhone 14 Pro Max holds 5G just fine. In the same exact spot with the Android phones I will get full bars and 5G will work for a few minutes and then stop. Signal bar stays full but no data will pass. I have a brand new SIM with each phone I've tried but it seems to be an issue with Android and the cell network from what I can gather. Restarting the phone does not help but switching in and out of airplane mode will do the trick for a few minutes. My cell plan is the highest tier plan that includes 5G. I use Android 13, OneUI 5.1 on the S23+.
Anyone else having a similar issue?
If you want to enjoy 5G service, actual coverage matters. Check your carrier's website to see if they offer a location-based breakdown of which towers they utilize for their 5G signal. You can also look at third-party apps like OpenSignal or Cellmapper.net, which use crowdsourced databases to pinpoint 5G towers near you.

Hi, thanks for the response. I have narrowed this down to a tower issue. Where I work we have a cell site installed by AT&T just for our building due to coverage issues inside. Anytime I am away from work, 5G and 5G+ are both working great. We have placed a call to AT&T to see if they can come and see what's going on. The only weird thing is that the iPhone 14 will hold 5G and work fine in our building but not the Android phone.
Thanks again.
