HTC Gallery for U12+ with dark bar removed - HTC U12+ Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I've updated my U12+ to Pie.
On Oreo I had a version of HTC Gallery which worked perfect, with the thick black bar on the bottom removed.
(it was version 10.20.836439 which was modded by someone on here I think)
I am pretty sure I found it here on XDA, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
I tried searching but am obviously using the worng search phrases.
Does anyone have a link to that version of HTC Gallery?
I tried putting a backup from Titnium Backup on my phone again, but it won't play nice (can't safe modded files on my sd card)
Any help woul dbe greatly appreciated..

When you're so sure about the version number, why don't you try to look for that number on the web, i've found some app with that number, but is not installable.

I'm not sure, hence I said "I think"
Also, I searched on the web and found the same you found, not installable.
Sorry, but if you think I don't know how to search, you're wrong.
But thanks for your input and help.
Much appreciated...sigh

It was extremely laggy on mytouch, obv N1 can handle much more-- have you ran on N1 vs. mtouch? Any feedback?
To be Frank it's much more userable than mytouch or g1.. and if you use big t9 key its just nice...
its already my default dialer..

^^ this much is true. My N1 feels complete now. Getting the word out and the apk to some ppl. This needs more exposure >;]
I just installed HiDialer, and it's something I've been looking for for a LONG time, but do you guys know what the two services running in the background are? One says "remote" and it makes me a bit uneasy.
Just installed HiDialer 1.50 on my rooted stock N1, gives me FC as soon as I try to search for a contact by pressing the key pad.
Also, it does not show contact images pulled from Facebook, only "local" images...

Also, I have all my contacts synced and stored with Exchange and it seems this only pulls from Gmail contacts.....?
HiDialer is amazing, thanks for letting us know. By the way, I'm using 1.5 with no issues. I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling it .
Anyone knows the author/contact of HiDialer? I'd like to contact him for some additional functions. It'd be good if it's open-sourced.

Did you know that HiDialer doesn't have a single instance, it create multiple instances in the memory - this consumes useless RAM.
I strongly suggest everyone to use SpeechDial from The Market.
Try SpellDial from the market. Quick. Easy.

Mine is cooked in. Screens attached. I'm removing it because of the Chinese buttons though. You can use buttons taken from an older client (bt_send.png etc.) but they only seem to work in new sms. If you reply the Chinese buttons still appear
Can someone re-up that .cab? It only downloads 2mb of it for me.
So, this completely wouldn't open a single message for me. Also, couldn't find the secure inbox option...not there at all

ok I think I know why I don't have it in my version. I replace the lang pack with the previous one as the latest pack only have chinese lang mui (which is not a problem for me, but I'm cooking so I tried to stay English)
edit: now that I've enabled it, this feature is really cool. basically it allows you to transfer messages in/out of the "safe" inbox, and you can access the "safe" inbox by entering a passkey which you will setup during the first access.
basically it provides ability to secure your private messages

[Q] No youtube app on Belgian Transformer, some help?

Hi all,
I have a quite annoying issue with my Belgian Transformer.
There is no YouTube app (no widget either) on it! Apparently it is due to the stupid Belgian copyrights protection organisation, called SABAM.
When I search for it in the Market, I can't find it. When I click on a direct Market link to the app, I can find the phone version, but when I try to install it, the Market can't find it anymore.
I also tried a hint from someone, he said to search for the wigdet, and then the app would show up in the app drawer.
I installed the Youtube 2.1.6.apk (for phones) on it, and it works, but it does not have the nice Honeycomb interface.
Is it possible to exctract the application from an onther TF (rooted or unrooted) so I can install it on mine?
If yes, would someone be that nice?
Thanks!
I hope it's not against the rules for me to post this, but please delete it if it is.
This is the YouTubeTablet.apk extracted from the Prime_v1.2_US ROM (I just happened to have that one on my PC), it should work for you. If it's not what you want, head over to the development section, download one of the ROM's and extract the apk.

@i_machine: Look for "Market Enabler" in market and set it to US. Then open market again and see if you can find Youtube now
P.S.: F**k those governments that try to censor your daily life! Stay out of my affairs, state! I'm the one who's paying you!

Thanks for the tip, but this requires root access, which I'm not planning to do in the near future.
@I_machine,
Where did you buy your TF ?
I got mine imported fom US so no issues with stupid Sabam...
Nice to know a fellow Belgian is using the TF
AFAIK there is are no separate firmware update for BE. Don't know how they will detect that your device is a SABAM'ed one. Did you upgrade to 3.1 already?
Or will it just filter Youtube out as soon as you set your location to BE?

I have an imported US model, youtube works fine on mine, but indeed in the market it isn't available so i guess future Youtube updates are also an issue for me I Guess.

Kef
I do find it strange that 1 TS bought in Belgium does not have the youtube app/widget where mine also bought in Belgium does have the youtube app/widget installed by default.
Am happy to see that I_machine finally got his app
I_Machine and had already a discussion about this subject on a dutch forum.

haha, maybe thats the cause, you just give me the answer i think.
Difference between me and I_machine is that i choose for the English installation and he obvious choose for the dutch (Belgian) configuration.
Only way to not install that youtube app is indeed looking for country specific setting.
same problem here.
Belgian transformer french and no YouTube :-(
Tryed toi install thé apk but. I have a message application ont installed
Someone could help ?
Thxxxx
I bought mine at mediamarrkt in Brussels... left it in English. Was able to install YouTube without a problem. I have 3.0.1 and SKU HRI
Same problem for me too.
If anyone has a working youtubetablet.apk.
I have 3.2 and sku TB
Thanks in advance
Me too. No youtube app (Belgian TB) bought at Makro and installed Dutch.
Today on 3.2; notice that when I open a non-tablet app and the screen resizes, when I leave the app and go to the home screen, one third of the bottom screen keeps on 'flashing' and is unreadable until I open another app and then go back to the home screen.
I've uploaded the latest version of the youtube app here:
http://ubuntuone.com/p/18j6/
Sorry this one does not work on the tablet. This the one for Android 2.x
I think we need youtubetablet.apk and youtubetablet.odex.
This one worked for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15817110&postcount=19
I'm now on 3.1 rooted.
Yes thank you It works on 3.2 unrooted
Thanks Dauntless, version works just fine!

What in the name of Zod is LocalTryTry?

This has just been sitting in the my apps section of marketplace since I ran market doctor in Titanium Backup. I have absolutely no idea what this app does, (if anything) both the description and Whats New text simply says LocalTryTry followed by two screen shots of a three paned interface that is completely blank. Attempting to update the app fails and I can find no actual trace of it's existence on my transformer anywhere.
So I ask, what is this thing had how do I get rid of it? Frankly Its freaking me out a bit.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.asus.weatherwondered the samething. just looked on the market page. It says in the url com.asus.weather. thanks for making me look.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.asus.weather
Well that seems to be that mystery solved
I have exactly the same problem.
It came about exacly the same way i have tried using two different roms with the same result.
Have you got rid of it and how you did it.
Thanks

Using Titanium Backup just unlink LocalTryTRy (Asus weather) from the market and it stops nagging you about updates that always fail.
Well first post gets an answer pretty quick.
Pretty easy when you know how
Thanks for you help.
So instead of breaking the market link is there a way to port the update again? If I knew how I would since that seems like a better option.

[Q] Old Gmail on ICS

I already searched on here, and someone asked this before but got no reply.
I want to uninstall Gmail 4.7.1 from my Kyocera Rise that's running ICS, and install the older Gmail 2.3.4.1 on it. Has anyone else done this before? Any idea if it'll work?
I want to do this because 2.3.4.1 is what my old phone (was running Gingerbread) had on it. I don't like the newer Gmail app, IMO they made it harder to read and navigate. I find myself using my old phone just to check my email, because its less annoying. It'd be awesome if the older app were to work on here.

Welcome to Xda, you will see that this happens allot here and i wish everyone could get the help they deserve but most of the time they don't as for your problem, you could google Gmail 2.3.4.1 apk and might be able to find someone who mirrored that like you can try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181033 download that file from your phone or computer and find it and install it. it might not work because google sorta wants us to use newer versions of their apps but if it does you need to turn off the auto update so it wont. good luck and welcome to XDA!

Hello, thanks. I've been a lurker on here for a while, but I have no experience asking my own questions here.
Yup, I did that, I downloaded an .apk of 2.3.4.1. I was asking on here to try and find out if attempting this would even work.... in my research I can't find anything on whether something like this for Gingerbread will work correctly in ICS. It looks like I have to root to even remove Gmail 4.7.1 so that's why I was asking before getting into this.

The reason why you can't completely uninstall it is because it's a system app. So yes you would have to root to remove it
