Hello,
I really have big problems with my Gear S3 and the notifications with Android 10 (xioami.eu) last beta.
Viber = never worked at all
Messenger = till 2 days ago was working, now stopped
What I have already done:
.) checked all notification setting (gear app, xiaomi settings)
.) installed notch test
.) cache deleted from all "problem-apps"
.) complete new install from gear app, WITHOUT import the "old" settings and restared completely new
.) tried with AVRCP Version 1.5 (read it somewhere)
I installed on my MI9 (global): Gear apk, Samsung Health and Samsung Accessory Service.
Nothing really works.
Someone an idea, what else I could try?
Same issue
I am on miui 11 android 10 stable release.
Notification on gear s3 worked for couple days then just not working.
Tried resetting watch, reinstalling gear apps. No luck
Anyone with fix?
I'm on Android 10 with my OnePlus 7 Pro and my Gear S3 constantly just disconnects from the watch. Only ways to get it to reconnect are to wait for it to do it eventually on its own or force stop the samsung accessory service then reopen the samsung gear app.
It's driven me to the point of replacing the watch altogether as no one seems interested in a fix for this.
Check background running permission
Did you check that.?

I went to notification access and turned on for xiomi service framework.
Since then it is working.

I had the same issue. To fix this you need to factory reset your watch and set it up again. After that it will work perfectly. Hope this helps.
Same issue
I have been having this same issue. I tried factory reseting the watch without improvement. I also tried clearing the data of my phones s voice app without any luck. Any ideas?
same issue started recently on my gear 2 neo, s voice doesn't work on the watch, just connection failed after a few seconds. reset the watch, didn't restore data, and wipe data and cache on both the Samsung gear app and the s voice app. still no success.
Anyone found any solution for this? I just got m Gear 2 Neo last week and I haven't been able to get it to work. Someone said to do this but I can't find it anywhere:
Browse your purchased apps in the Galaxy Apps app. See if there's something called S Voice Provider. It is listed under "All", under "Purchased". Go ahead and install it. Got done reason it will disappear from this list afterwards, I couldn't find it again to confirm the exact name, but s voice now works like a charm from the Gear 2.
I don't see anything even close to that in my galaxy apps. I just uninstalled and reinstalled Gear Manager and still nothing.
Update:
Looked in my apps and the saproviders is installed and started. Still getting connecting and then connection failed.

I am seeing the same issue. Except my Gear 2 Neo is on a latter version R381XXU0BOA2.
This seems to be an issue with Lollipop 5.1.1 on the Note 4 and Gear Manager 2.2.15092142. I paired my Gear 2 Neo with my Note 10.1 (2014) running 4.4.2 and S Voice worked as expected. I have seen in other forums that S Voice works on an S6 running Lollipop 5.0.
Which version of Gear manager are you running? Which version of Android is on your Note 4?
Any others having the same issue running Lollipop 5.1.1?

I was comparing installed apks between my Note 4 and my Note 10.1 (2014) in Application Manager (on Note 10.1Settings -> General -> Application manager -> All) and (on Note 4 10.1Settings -> Applications -> Application manager -> All).
Missing on my Note 4 was svoiceprovider. I backed up the Note 10.1svoiceprovider app using ES File Explorer. Sent the file to my Note 4, installed the app on my Note 4.
If anyone needs the svoiceprovider.apk let me know.

I have 5.1.1 and the Gear Manager is 2.2.15111841_2.2.02.15071741. I was able to hook it up to my Note Pro 12.2 and S Voice worked fine. Everyone keeps talking about not having the saproviders on their phone but I have always had it, so that isn't my problem. I did have it originally connect to a Fit Gear, so maybe that is screwing it up.

I have a Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch paired to the phone. SVoice works on the phone not on the watch. Every time I double press home button on watch I get the message "Accept the S Voice Samsung Disclaimer on your mobile device." Then on my Note 5 I get this: "This app is not available for your device.(com.vlingo.midas:2290:4002)" I do have svoiceprovider installed and the version is 1.0.3 Anyone else experiencing this?

I have exactly the same problem, very disappointing. Only received the watch for Christmas and straightaway I hit a problem.
I'm sorry to of your problems, I too received mine for christmas this morning. Have root s5 and connect right away and updated not a single problem so far.( Other not enough apps for my likeing )
Going to ask the obvious, have you tried reseting the watch ?
Hi all,
Mine was just the same issue, after reading a bit you should reset the watch after updating and the phone too. But disconnect and erase the connection phone <-> watch too. After new pairing all was ok.

Can you explain steps required? I have same issue after gear manager update. I would like not to hard reset my phone. I'm on non-rooted Note 4 with lollipop 5.1.1. It used to work excellent until last update.

I did back track latest apps installs and updates on my phone and I wonder if Gear Manager is main source of the problem.
Night before I discovered that gear manager stopped working correctly, I did mandatory update for few of Oculus apps for my Gear VR.
My question is: do people with Gear Manager problem have any Oculus apps installed on their phones?

Hi,
can't help to solve your problem but got the exact same problem.
Receiving notifications once after soft reset and then never again - except incoming calls. Checked all settings - notifications are enabled in the gear app and the watch itself is also NOT set to "dont disturb". Very annoying! Can anyone help?
Cheers Thomas
Hello,
I have the same problem.
I used a Gear 2 before with my Galaxy S6 and that worked fine.
When I started using my S2 I did receive a Whatsapp notification on my watch but then it got an update via Gear Manager, it rebooted and now I get no notifications other then SMS, phone and standard mail. No FB, Google, Messenger, Whatsapp ect.
All my settings in Gear Manger are the same as I used with the Gear 2.

My Gear S2 Classic started missing notifications yesterday. Re-booted the watch (hold Home button to turn off, then same to turn on). Notifications working fine now!
My problem was that the setting in the Gear App, under Notifications got turned Off!!!
Once I turned that back on, I started getting everything.

Hello again,
I found a solution for my problem. I had tried rebooting before but that didn't help. After digging a bit on this forum I tried the following:
Deleted watch on phone in BT settings.
Rebooted phone.
Added watch again by just using BT settings (not via Gear manager).
Watch connected and all worked as it should.
I hope this works for somebody else as well.

Hi,
found my problem from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3285032: the watch needs to be "worn" in order to show notifications.
In my case the problem was the NATO strap I bought as an replacement for the leather strap. The new strap covered the backside of the watch (I do not use the pulse sensor anyway) which lead to the watch thinking that it was not worn - it seems to need contact with the skin on the backside in order to consider to be worn.
So I replaced it with an two-part strap and now notifications are received again. Weird that this is not mentioned by Samsung (I did not find it at least).
Cheers,
Thomas
Hi!
After the last update my Gear S2 Clasic no longer receive lost call notofications and the other ones enaled received with huge delay, my gear is connected to a Galaxy S5, I don't know what to do, maybe it's a bug ?! Any idea ?
Saw this thread and thought I would post my experience.
Received watch and worked well with all notifications that should be received being received. I was charging the watch and figured I would shut it down as well during charging. After boot up it no longer received notifications. I tried a bunch of stuff including restarting the watch, restarting my phone, changing notification settings and finally doing a soft reset requiring me to unpair and re-pair Bluetooth through the Samsung app. All of this was done with me wearing the watch and nothing worked.
I stumbled upon the thread above saying notifications weren't being received when the watch isn't being worn. So I tried taking it off and putting it back on but no luck. Finally, I took it off, turned it off, turned it back on with it still not being on my wrist and finally after waiting 5 minutes or so of it being on, I put it back on my wrist and voila, notifications!
So, my best guess is that when I started up the watch with it being on my wrist the watch believed it wasn't being worn and since I never took it off that never changed. Or maybe it just decided to work after the last reset but from now on, if I shut it down, I will boot it back up when it is not being worn and then put it on after a little time.
I like the watch a lot but it is a bit finicky.
Thank you so much!!! This fixed my problem! I've been looking for weeks now and nothing worked! I'm always wearing it when I turn it on so that must mess with it. Thanks so much for your post!

Since I updated my Pixel to Android 8.0 Oreo about a month ago, I don't get any notifications any more. The only thing that seems to be working is phone calls which I can see on my gear.
What I've tried to do, to solve it:
- Cleared data for the Gear app
- Uninstalled and reinstalled all Samsung applications
- Factory reset the Gear
- Checked that the Gear app has permission to notifications
- Checked that the Gear has the latest firmware
- Rebooted my Pixel
- Tried to connect my Gear S3 to a Huawei phone running Android 7.0 (notifications worked)
- Contacted Google that said the issue probably is because the Samsung app doesn't support Oreo
- Contacted Samsung that said Google is "probaby right" and I'll have to wait for an firmware update for the Gear which they have no ETA for?
If Google is right, everyone with Oreo should have this problem? Or atleast someone else? Is that the case?
I have Oreo beta on my Nokia 8 and have no problems which weren't present on nougat.
No issues with notifications.
Sent from my TA-1012 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Ok, does anyone else have any idea of what can be the issue for me?
I'm having the same issue. Also with my pixel. Tried everything you have also done. Almost at the stage I'm about to switch back to my old moto 360 until they release a patch. Not being able to receive any type of notification is a deal breaker for me.
have you tried to clean cache, stop the Bluetooth process on pixel and run it again?
Anybody got solution for this?
I upgraded OnePlus 3 to Oreo and notifications stopped showing on Gear.
Soon afterwards I upgraded Gear to Tizen 3 but that didi't solve problem.
The new software update that was released a few days ago solved the issue for me.
Exactly the same problems and frustrations
In short, have tried all the same actions as set out by yourself. No Gear 3 notifications started with Pixel upgrade to Android 8.0. Like others have stated here, makes wearing and relying on Gear watch very marginal. I bought Gear watch to pickup notifications when doing outdoors, relatively hands free sporting activities.
Everyone: please keep THIS discussion thread alive in search of eventual solution. Thanks. John, Sydney Australia
Same issues
I recently purchased a gear s3 Frontier watch, after much researching, it was the one that most fit my wants.
It is paired with my Pixel phone and for the first 3 or 4 days it worked great but now I don't receive any notifications at all except for Samsung Health... Notifications are all turned on but nothing comes through?
It seemed to have started with the Tizen 3.0 update. But could't say if it was immediately after or a day or two later. I've done multiple resets but nada.
Phone calls do come through to the watch but my phone doesn't ring anymore when the watch is connected..
No settings were changed on the watch or the phone app.. One day it worked fine, the next day, everything quit...
This is very disappointing... these notifications were the reason I wanted a smart watch in the first place.
Any idea whats going on?
The watch is SM-R760 running Tizen 3.0.0.1 version R760XXU2CQL1
Knox 2.2.0
Know Tizen 2.2.0
SE for Tizen 1.0.0
TIMA 3.0.0
Pixel Phone on Android 8.1.0
Snapdragon S8 on nougat with a similar problem. My notifications will disable themselves and the switch to turn them back on will be grayed out and unselectable. Only way to get them to work again is by rebooting the watch and the phone, but it will only work for a few hours until it's broken again.
I have a similar problem with my Oneplus 3.
Evertyhing worked fine until I updated my phone to OxygenOS 5.0.3 Android 8.0.0. Since then the Gear S3 doesn't receive any notification. The only one are phone calls.
The settings for notifications are on (in the Gear App and OS settings unchanged). Resetting the watch didn't change anything. Round about 2 times a day the gear looses the bluetooth connection for ~30 seconds which is new as well.
Resetting the phone is no option.
Any ideas or new information about this problem?

Hi.
I have my Gear S2 Classic paired with a Galaxy S8 running android oreo, and I will get vibrating notifications for calls and texts, but nothing else.
On my Galaxy S5 it worked great. I really miss vibrating notifications for reminders.
Have any of you experienced this? Can there a setting on the phone or something else I have missed?

I think there is a setting where you choose which apps that gets to send notifications to the watch. Check in the Gear app on the phone.

Yes, and I have checked all apps I want notifications from. And I do get the notifications on the gear S2, it just doesn´t vibrate any more. For calls and texts it vibrates, but not for any other notifications.
Am I the only one having this issue?
Same here, I get notifications without vibration for almost all apps. Calls vibrates, SMS vibrates also (even though I am using Textra and not default app) and even Whatsapp vibrates. Sadly Viber does not and I really need it to.

I´m sorry you have the same issue as me. But at the same time I´m a bit happy that I´m not alone. I use textra for sms just like you. And calls, sms and Whatsapp vibrates for me to. That´s it.
I contacted Samsung support and they suggested a factory reset of the phone. Wich I did last night. Sadly it didn´t do any difference.
Hopefully we will get some help to resolve this soon. I need my notifications on my Gear to work!!!
Yeah, I tried factory as well this morning but no help. Contacted Samsung also, but no reply yet. Sad thing is that it was working fine until like 2 weeks back and suddenly it stopped. No Gmail vibration either. I tried everything I stumbled across, reinstalling Gear app, reseting watch, deleting app data, factory on phone, older versions of Gear app, turning vibration on in the android notification settings for each app. Nothing. I am afraid it has to do with Android itself, because only thing I can remember is some minor android update happening, no Gear updates as far as I can recall.
I did try with different older phone and there it was working fine
Still hope it will came back to life.

Okay quick notice, last thing I could think of - deleted Viber and downloaded older version from like 2 months ago. Now its working for viber. I guess that on Oreo the notifications are handled somehow differently as I can see that in each application the Android can change tons of things (Settings - application - choose any app - Notification)
So probably this is somehow tied to sending vibration to the Gear as well. So the older version of Viber is not yet "integrated" into Oreo notification management and that is why its working. Probably?
As I mostly use Viber, I will stick with the old version as long as its working hoping some other solution will be found in the meantime. Will try to contact Viber team as well.
The last answer I got from Samsung support, after testing their suggestions, was that the only thing I could do was to wait for an update. For the Gear s2 I assume. So for now I´m stuck with this lack of notifications. :crying:
