I've have just bought a Pixel 3 unlocked from Swappa. It was labeled as Unlocked Google Google edition. I want to root the phone, but the OEM Unlocking switch is grayed out.
I tried resetting to factory settings, using my AT&T SIM card, but the switch is still grayed out.
I revised the IMEI and starts with 35. As I understand, this is a Verizon configuration, but it has eSIMs enabled (as I understand, Google phones have this).
How can I verify that this is a variant or not? And if it isn't a variant, is there something I can do to enable OEM Unlocking?
Thanks in advance.

I would like to take my old Verizon Pixel 2 and use it on T-Mobile. Do I need to unlock the Verizon Pixel 2 before I can use it on TMO? Or, is it as simple as changing the SIM card?
I have verified that the Verizon Pixel 2 is locked by seeing if I can turn on OEM unlocking in the developer tools (I cannot).
Sorry if this has covered but I did not find it in the threads. Any advice appreciated.

The pixel 2 from Verizon comes factory unlocked. Not bootloader unlocked, but sim unlocked. Yes you can put a TMobile sim in it and it will work
Hi,
OEM unlocking isn't enabled on my Pixel 2, and I'm not successful in getting it enabled. It's just greyed out.
I just got my Pixel 2, bought it used. I'm in New Zealand, the carrier "Spark" seems to work fine with the phone, the guy I bought it from said it wasn't locked to a carrier.
I've tried resetting it, with and without connecting to wifi, but the "OEM Unlocking" option stays greyed out no matter what I do.
Any advice please?

How can I get the "Buyer name" from my IMEI, like this guy did please?

Just called the place I bought it from and they confirmed it was a Verizon phone. Apparently they get them cheaply and ship them over here
The model is G020E, but does not have any Verizon branding on it; everything just says Google. I was told it was a Sprint phone, but I don't know if that means Sprint sold it, or if it was just moved to Sprint network at some point. Either way, the only branding (physical and software) is Google.
When I go into Developer Options, OEM unlocking is greyed out and says "Connect to the internet or contact your carrier." (Connecting to the internet doesn't change anything.)
From what I've read, there's no way to unlock the bootloader on the Verizon version. Does it sound like this phone is in that group?
Also, I've read some people saying that Verizon will unlock the phone after it's been activated for a couple months. It seems like they are talking about SIM unlocking, but I've also seen claims that people got the bootloader unlocked by just waiting the 60 or so days. Anyone have any experience with that?
Thanks

I Googled the model and it said it's an unlocked model. But once you boot it with that Verizon SIM card in it, Verizon will lock you out of OEM unlocking. Remove your SIM card and factory reset. Go through the setup, then try the OEM unlocking again (remember after you flip that switch, you still need to go through fastboot to actually unlock). Then factory reset again, this time with your SIM card installed.
That 60 days thing is definitely SIM unlocking. It will be a cold day in hell before Verizon consciously allows the bootloader to be unlocked.
Hey, so basically I bought a clean IMEI but financed (not by me) OP8 5G UW t-mobile edition, and I'm trying to figure out how to SIM unlock it so that the OEM unlock option in dev settings isn't greyed out. T-mobile support told me to try a 3rd party unlocking service, which is what I'm looking into right now. I'm just thinking of doing it off of some seller on ebay with some amount of reputation, but will this fix the issue of the greyed out OEM unlock setting?
I was in the same exact scenario, just do what I did borrow anybody's T-Mobile sim card drop it in and then use the T-Mobile app via chat with support and they'll unlock it.
I just bought a (supposedly) G013A Unlocked Pixel 3, but when I go to developer options, the option to enable OEM Unlocking, I get the "Connect to internet or contact your carrier" message. I decided to use an IMEI lookup site and there are multiple comments about this specific IMEI number being grabbed from XDA and spoofed and that it's actually a Verizon phone. Is this possible/is there a way for me to confirm it?
In this case, unlocked simply means it can be used on other carriers. The phone is not bootlocker unlocked or able to be. No soup for you if you have a Verizon phone.
i have blueline with vz version and i can unlock bootloader i use CalyxOS right now.
