Unable to flash AT&T firmware on regular Note 10 - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

I have flashed both the ATT and USC firmwares for the SM-N970U1 but still no wifi calling option. At this point I don't know if I've actually flashed the ATT firmware or not. Odin says Pass. Under the Service Provider SW ver. it makes mention of ATT/ATT/XAA but I'm not sure if that means the phone is on the ATT network or if that's firmware info. How do I tell what firmware I've actually flashed?

There is already a thread on this and one of the members was nice enough to post exactly what firmware to flash.
I suggest looking for that thread its exactly what you need

That thread is for the Note 10 plus. I'm asking about the Note 10. That's where I got the idea to flash the USC version from but like I said, didn't work.

Bummer, figured the thread would give you enough guidance to get it done on the smaller one.
Of course samsung has to make it difficult lol

I used the home_csc file instead of the csc. That should not have been an issue. I assume I'm still on the unlocked firmware but I have no clue. I don't see any AT&T bloatware or Logo. I downloaded the firmwares from the sammobile site. Even downloaded from the samfirm app just in case. So I flashed 3 times. No difference.

What did you type into the SamFirm when you searched for firmware for your AT&T?

Maybe ATT doesn't put their firmware online as I tried searching and couldn't find on SamFirm. I am on T-Mobile and we have 2 different firmware versions.
If I type in SamFirm the following:
1) SM-N970U1 and region: TMB - I will get pretty much same unlocked firmware that I had on the phone, nothing will pretty much change after flashing this firmware.
2) SM-N970U and region: TMB - I will get T-Mobile firmware that is on their branded devices and all features.
Ask the OP in the below thread for latest ATT firmware file(userdata). If you recently flashed firmware, but the firmware in the thread is a bit older, you may not be able to flash until newer version is released.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10/how-to/n970u-n970u1-firmware-links-t3957705

So should I search for SM-N970U and ATT instead?

I did also do an ota update when I first got my phone so I have the August security update. Not sure if that's an issue since I have newer update?

Normally that is correct, but it doesn't look like ATT is putting their firmware up on server as other carriers do.
Go to the link I provided of that thread. Click on the first link that says U firmware. Then look a bit down where is says: SGO - 1 - 9.0. After this link opens, you will see first 2 files: N970U_SGO_1.zip and USERDATA_ATT... You can try to download these files, extract to a folder and flash including the userdata file. If it fails, then you may need to wait until this person provides new firmware and you will need to download the firmware and that userdata_att

Yeah At&t is horrible about posting firmware. I usually just use USC firmware and once installed it will provision to At&t based on sim and you will get all At&t carrier options such as Volte..wificalling..advanced messaging.

Thanks yeah that's what I'm about to do. My mistake was downloading from the U1 section instead of U. So confusing. Why even have any carrier firmwares under the U1 section?

Flashed the U / USC firmware and got AT&T firmware.

Are you on the July security patch? I just did this process with the ATT firmware and it says up to date with July security patch. On the U1 unlocked firmware, I was on August already. I just wanted to be sure I didnt mess up something and it wont update properly.

I am on the August security update. That was part of the USC firmware. I didn't do an ota update after flashing so at this point I don't know if ota updates will work for me.

Did you download your files from here https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=297974 ? Thats here I got mine and its for the SGO firmware on Note 10. Im thinking something went wrong now becasue mine wont update OTA and smart switch says im up to date when there is another firmware for ATT out - ASH4 version.

I got it from samfirm which is the ash4 version.

Thanks. What did you put for Model# and region? I input SM-N970U and USA(AWS) and nothing pops up. Using samfirm 0.4.0

Use USC for region

It is possible to eliminate the Service Provider SW version from my SM-G955U1?

Folks,
Happy 2018,
Quick one:
I bought a locked ATT SM-G955U & reflashed it to a SM-G955U1 (currently on the latest December Security update) but the issue here is that despite doing this and eliminating ATT bloatware my phone continues to show Service Provider SW Ver. 9889544437594c3958 XAA//ATT
My buddy have an unlocked SM-G955U1 out of the box & there is no Service Provider information on his phone settings. He also gets all updates via OTA without issues, whereas I need to flash using ODIN manually which is not an issue for me but will be easier to get the OTA updates.
My phone is almost perfect but is there any possibility of flashing the specific CSC file for the SM-G955U1 on my SM-G955U transformed to a SM-G955U1?
I guess this was explained clearly.
Thanks for your support. XDA is the best.
SW, if listed as xaa/xaa/att...is what you wanted. The last three are always hardwired. I bought a T-Mobile U1 and switched it to Verizon. So mine now says vzw/vzw/tmo. If I read correctly in previous postings, you may still be forced to update manually, if on ATT. I believe...
If you flashed the files correctly in ODIN, then you wont see the provider version at all. It doesn't appear in the unlocked firmware. And you'll also get OTAs just fine. I know, because I bought a VZW 955U and flashed it with the unlocked 955U1 software.
Yup I can confirm too. I flashed the unlocked firmware to my spring g955u.
I can get OTA updates same with unlocked phone
Precisely .. I need to flash the correct one...
Where do I get the unlocked firmware ?

You can use samfirm for download the newest firmware & update from your pc manually with odin.
if you s8+ is from at&t the region is USC, fot T-Mobile is TMB, Sprint is SPR, Verizon VZW

I'm kind of in the same boat as the person you're replying to. I have decided to flash 9.0 Pie. However, the links in the youtube tutorials are sort of dead. And I'm not sure if I can flash my 7.0 S8+ straight to 9.0 Pie or do I need to first flash it to Android 8.0 and then 9.0?

Those did not work. Frija says "CSC code not supported". SamFirm doesn't load "USA" option in region.
I have an ATT branded s8+.
EDIT: Nevermind that, I realize now that Samfrew is not Samfirm. I'm trying that now...
EDIT#2: Can I flash unbranded 'XAA' Pie instead of an ATT branded one? I see one guys tutorial on youtube but said to only use a 'modded' Odin, but his video is from three years ago. How do I know if that modded Odin is still compatible with recently released Pie firmware from just a few months back?
Final Edit: I took the risk and flashed the latest XAA firmware I could find (which I downloaded using Frija, I searched for XAA CSC code, not ATT) using the patched odin 3.14.1_3B. I used the slow port on my laptop (I was warned not to use the fast one a year ago by someone who rant into some issues) and I had also removed sim and micro sd card just to be on the safe side. It worked. Phone is now running the latest Pie release I believe (SM-G955U1 20210304173908).

anyway to change CSC?

I'm trying to verify and confirm is that you are using a u1 firmware and not a "U" firmware. If you are looking for carrier features then it isn't guaranteed to work when using on unlocked firmwares. If you want to have a feature that is offered by your carrier, I recommend flashing the full "U" version for your carrier which would include the proper CSC file.
I changed mine F916B with Samkey. Very easy.

How To Guide F711U and F711U1 Firmware Links and Flashing Discussion Here

(WIP, files are currently processing and uploading)
For those who aren't already aware, F711U is the model number of all of the US carrier versions of the Z Flip3. The F711U1 is the model number of the same device, but sold by Samsung SIM unlocked and with no carrier bloatware. Firmware is 100% interchangeable among these models: any U or U1 firmware version can be flashed to any U or U1 device at any time, assuming that you're not trying to downgrade the bootloader. A "U to U" or "U1 to U1" flash does not require a factory reset, but changing from one firmware to the other will require one. Also, U firmware is identical for the 4 base files (AP, BL, CP, CSC) for each individual build, no matter which carrier it comes from. So if you download 2 different carrier versions of the exact same build, the 4 base files will be identical. Where the firmware differs is in the USERDATA file - that's where the carrier bloatware and customizations reside.
Manual Odin flashing is designed for those who:
- want to manually update to a newer version of U firmware on their U device, either because they don't want to wait for their carrier's OTA or because OTAs aren't working on their device, or a different carrier got a new feature/patch before they did
- want to flash U1 firmware to their U device
- want to convert from U1 firmware to carrier U firmware
- want to convert from one carrier's U firmware (with all apps and bloatware) to a different carrier's U firmware (with all apps and bloatware)
For those who aren't already aware, anyone can now download firmware for almost any Samsung device any time that they want, via the various firmware download tools posted here on XDA like SamFirm or Frija. There are threads and info about them here on XDA so I won't waste time explaining - do a search if you're not already familiar with these tools. But they only provide whatever the latest/newest/current version is - nothing older. I have access to an internal Samsung firmware download tool that usually gets new versions before they hit the public firmware download tools, so that's where my files come from.
This is not a "beginner's guide to Odin flashing" -type post/thread, so I won't list basic, step-by-step flashing instructions. My threads are geared towards those who already know what they're doing. If you're new to manually flashing Samsung firmware (or haven't done it in a long time), I recommend you consult one of those "beginner's" guides- there are tons of them here on XDA.
Happy flashing!
U firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=327752
U1 firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=327753
Notes:
- DON'T QUOTE THE OP WHEN YOU REPLY, kthx
- I have lots of threads just like this one for other Samsung flagships, if it interests you. For those who have already made use of my previous threads for a different device and are upgrading, welcome back
- My zips are compressed extra small for space and bandwidth savings. The default Windows extractor can't handle it, so you'll need a 3rd party tool like 7zip, WinRAR, etc
- it's quite time consuming to download the files, zip them up, and upload them to AFH. And, I do threads like this for every single flagship model, so I won't be uploading every single version. The only full builds that I upload are ones where I get access to a new bootloader and/or Android version early, before they hit the firmware download tools.
- My naming method for folders on AFH is: build - bootloader - Android version
So "SAT - 1 - 9.0" means the full build number ends in SAT, it's bootloader version 1, and it's Android 9.0. When bootloader and Android versions increment, the first build to have those changes will have its folder notated appropriately.
- HOME CSC file keeps data intact; using the other CSC will wipe data. Flashing USERDATA will also wipe data.
- Since AT&T doesn't allow their firmware to be publicly available (for any of their devices), I'll try to always upload at least one USERDATA per bootloader increment for AT&T (and Cricket, if they get this model). I'll also upload any full builds if AT&T is the only carrier to get that specific build, because you won't be able to find the files anywhere else.
- For identifying USERDATAS, and to know what region/CSC to use in the firmware download tools if you're downloading yourself:
AIO = Cricket (not available via firmware download tools)
ATT = AT&T (not available via firmware download tools)
BST = Boost Mobile
CCT = Xfinity Mobile (Comcast)
CHA = Spectrum Mobile (Charter)
DSH = Dish Network
TMB = T-Mobile
TMK = Metro PCS
USC = US Cellular
VZW = Verizon (available via firmware download tools, but Manual Entry is required - Auto will not work)
XAA = U1 firmware
Flashed a physical T-Mobile F711U to a F711U1 XAA firmware using Odin(Can't stand the bright pink boot up animations).
Flash worked perfectly. But, when I tried to test doing an update from Google settings it failed every time with "Registration Failed". I flashed the device back to the T-Mobile F711U firmware and was able to update without issue.
Not sure if you ran into this issue, but it's worth noting you might not be able to update the phone if the carriers are checking the Firmware.
Edit: Also forgot to mention, had to use the patched Odin due to the Firmware Model mismatch. Phone does work properly though.

From "Settings" App > "Software Update" > "Download and Install" and pressing the "Download and Installing.
I get "Connecting to server" and then immediately "Registration Failed" I've attempted over Wi-Fi and with that option toggled off.
This could also be the phone is new and T-Mobile doesn't have the F711U1 XAA firmware at their carrier level, but the registration failed annoys me. On F711U (official T-Mobile firmware) I simply get a notification that the device is up to date.

I flashed my phone using the F711U1OYM1AUG7 (F711U1 XAA) firmware from sammobile.
I flashed it back to the T-Mobile firmware, (F711UOYN1AUGB (F711U TMB) and the issue went away.
I did flash it again to the XAA to confirm the problem this evening. Never retained data during the process. Factory reset and removed my account information (Google and Samsung) before updating the firmware each time.
I've done this on a few phones in the past. If I'm making a blunder in the process causing this then I'm truly sorry for wasting anyone's time.
Edit: Typo

Once an update is available, if the phone is still giving the same error, then you can worry about it

1. Thom Browne *is* U1 firmware
2. USERDATA belongs to U firmware, not U1. So I have absolutely no idea. You'll have to try it and see what happens
Have successfully flashed F711U1 to F711W. Everything working fine. Used Odin 3.14, CSC_OMC_OYV, and working on Telus with all available features working.
Please note that AFTER the flash, you will be prompted to reset the device to stock. Reason being is that it needs to install the appropriate CSC linked to the inserted SIM card.
Can anyone confirm if cross flashing different build firmwares that it will unlock the unlock bootloader option?
Currently on carrier firmware for TMobile and I'm wondering if this is possible or if the u1 firmware has the unlock bootloader option available

Stuck on Android 9 and One UI 1.0

Greetings,
I am a new user here. I just bought Galaxy S10e and I really like the phone, but the problem is that I ordered it from USA (I live in the Republic of Georgia). Originally the phone was from AT&T, but the seller had it unlocked for any GSM carriers and it works fine with my Georgian sim card. The only problem is that I do not receive any software updates. It is stuck on Android 9 and One UI 1.0. When I try to check for updates, it says that my software is up to date. The same happens with Smart Switch.
I tried Frija and Odin. My CSC is G970UOYN1ASD9 and PDA is G970USQS1ASD9. There is no way to download firmware for my own country's CSC, because there is no firmware for SM-G970U (Snapdragon chipset), in Georgia they only sell Exynos ones officially. So, I tried to find updates with CSC ATT in Frija and it does not give me anything. I tried XAA and XAS (which is for unlocked phones) and still nothing. I tried TMK (I think it is for MetroPCS) and USC (This one is for US Cellular) and also TMB (T-Mobile) and they do have Android 11 firmware. But now I am afraid I will break something if I install above mentioned firmware to my device. Or maybe I will not break anything by changing the CSC, but maybe there is also a chance that if I install the above mentioned ones, the phone will get locked on these carriers and I won't be able to use my sim card. Is logical, or am I just overthinking it?
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
don't flash your nations CSC- that shouldn't matter. Snapdragons LTE bands should be good enough to work internationally
go and reflash a USC or XAA rom with patched ODIN... I had to do this for my phone and OTA started working once it was on the correct CSC
you could even flash it to the latest firmware if you wanted too.

Thank you for your answer.
What do you mean by correct CSC? I believe, my phone is on correct CSC now. I have already pasted it and in about phone > Software information > Service Provider it says ATT/ATT/ATT. But it seems that ATT doesn't receive updates outside US.
I cannot seem to find firmware for XAA/XAS, there is one for USC but I have already downloaded TMK. Is there any difference if I install USC or TMK? (TMK is MetroPCS).

Greetings,
I have already updated to Android 11 using U1 XAA firmware and it works great. I used Frija and then Odin if anyone wants do to do this. Weird thing happened though - when I flashed the firmware and when Odin did it's job, the laptop suddenly shut down and I couldn't turn it back on. I had to disassemble it and unplug the integrated battery, plug it back on and fortunately it turned on again.
As far as your question goes, I am sorry but I cannot check it since I am already on Android 11.
