Overheating Issue (Phone is getting too hot) - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Oneplus 7 Pro gets too hot even for just gaming a few minutes to a near hour.. I think the issue was the changes made to Oxygen OS because my Oneplus 6T ALSO GETS TOO HOT now using the last few Beta updates, which was not the case in the past (I am certain).. Also a few updates ago made the 6T show the "Phone is getting too hot" message, which DID NOT HAPPEN BEFORE, so definitely something is up.
Also, all background apps have been controlled too (literally restricted every single one and already on force stop)... Still the same, gets too hot.
Even if you factory reset the device, it's still the same, so I definitely think it's the changes they made to Oxygen OS. Compare it to other Snapdragon 855 devices and you'll see that OP heats up more now even with the cooling system.
The Games that I've been playing before that produced minimal heat even in hours of gameplay are now producing too much heat in just a few minutes... This is unacceptable.
Hopefully this issue gets resolved soon, users can help in reporting and testing.

Yes I confirm that,My game exits automatically after playing for few minutes & the phone gets very hot

Which game? I tested Asphalt 9, phone never gets hot. I'm running latest stable OOS, full stock not modified

The games with the * are the games that never gave the previous 6T with no problems, until the last few beta updates... And now those changes are also being felt in my 7 Pro.
The "your phone is getting hot" message didn't come before even hours of gameplay even on MAX SETTINGS, so I'm certain the problem is Kernel-side.

Yes, and I'm also using an unmodified, unrooted fully-stock Oxygen OS.
Tried everything, I think this is kernel-side changes. Hopefully more people especially mobile gamers report this problem.

yes I'm experiencing this issue too, it started when I tested my phone on a benchmark app and heated more than usual but from that day after it heats everytime I play PUBG or sometimes even watching Netflix.

Finally more people are experiencing this too, I tried both latest stable AND beta ver. of OOS, and had this heating issue, I even changed the Kernel to see if it'll make a difference but no.
Also, I saw some other people with the same issue on twitter, maybe someone should open an issue on the official OnePlus forums.

Hi there!
A couple of days ago I started noticing that my Oneplus 7 Pro was hotter than usual. Way hotter than usual. So I removed the 2 apps I recently installed. Nothing changed.
Just so you know, I'm using Oxygen OS 10.0.5.GM21BA with XXX NoLimits 10.2 and I haven't touched/updated the rom in weeks.
This morning my device was so hot I had to put it in the freezer.
When I took it out, I the CPU temperature: 40C (104F).
Then I let it rest for 5 min. The temperature rose to 48C (118.4).
So I used it for 10 min (normal use). It was 71C (159.8F).
The battery temperature, instead, varies between 30-ish C and 40-ish C.
I don't think this is normal at all, but I have no idea of what to do.
Any suggestions are welcome!

Note 3 N900 4.4.2 heating and lagging discussion

Hello everybody,
I opened this thread so anyone experiencing this problem (overheating and lagging in heavy games such as: Real Racing 3, The Amazing Spiderman 2, even Candy Crush, Asphalt 8 and so on) can discuss it here and maybe we'll get a better perspective of the problem, and maybe find a solution for that.
The Problem :
The phone would heat up, sometimes to the point I can't touch the phone, and the game FPS drops significantly (the games start to lag).
It happens for me after about 5-8 min of gameplay.
From a little google search, some users reported that the problem was caused by the constant running of the IndexService(this process is responsible for Indexing files both on the internal and external sd card) process, some users formatted the sdcard and reported that it has stopped, some users reported that the problem is still there, some users replaced the sdcard with another.
For me, I'm still trying to figure out if the sdcard is the problem by running some monitoring apps like System Panel Pro, and waiting for tomorrow to see which process/apps uses the CPU more than the others.
For anyone commenting this post, I would like you to ask to state if you are on a stock or custom rom, as well as the kernel.
Hopefully, we can identify the cause and help the Note 3 community and finally enjoy the full power of our AWESOME phone.
Happy discussion!

From my own experience, the cpu clock and the brightness of the screen has most to do with overheating. I have the same problem on a rootex X-note v13 (and all other xnote versions before 13), the cpu temp would reach 60 degrees celsius after 5-10 ninutes of gameplay on max brightness and stock cpu clock. BUT if I were to lower brightness to minimum and lower the cpu clock to 1.7ghz (left it at 1.7ghz since then out of laziness), it would last at least 25 minutes before reaching the same temperatures. Still, I would be curious if there is any software trigger that creates this overheat, not just the cpu and brightness. I had my phone unrooted for a very short period of time so i cannot really say, but it did feel like stock unrooted did not overheat so fast. Or maybe it was just a placebo, I do not know

Not sure what could cause that problem but i cant confirm that i dont have the problem, i usualy play RR3 and Clash of clans for long periods of time, 2+ hours and my phone wont heat up at all. i do have the lastest RU official firmaware do, but even with the other ones i never got that problem, i use to hate my s4 for that but i cant be happy enoght with my note 3.

I will be sending the device for repairment to see what the problem is, and will report back here
Maybe there is a problem with some Exynos devices ...
Will be interesting to find out what's the cause for the problem with our high-end phone.
Update: installing other ROM + Factory reset in that ROM gave the exact same effect: overheating.
Disabling DVFS completely fixed this issue for me.
Either use the DVFS diabler app or Wanam exposed to do this.
FYI I have the n9005 so this may not work for you.
I think everyone has the hot screen issue but for me it seems to happen in certain games only.
This isn't limited to 4.4.2 either, it happened in 4.3. It really seems to point to a software issue rather than hardware.
The weird thing is its the upper portion that gets hot on my phone while the battery portion is just normal.
I have temperature software on mine and for what it's worth I've never had a warning about overheating yet.

Disabling DVFS does not Solve the problem unfortunately...
The heating is where the cpu is...
It gets to the point I can't touch my phone...
I've tried different games and it kinda happens in every single heavy games... It is very annoying that I have such a powerful phone and I can't fully use it as I please...
Will try to send it to Samsung and see what they will do...

I managed to solve the problem !
Opting out google's location based ads in Google settings , disabling Samsung DVFS , formatting the phone and SD Card (with data included), installing a custom Rom (Dr.ketan K7 ROM with some options from the AROMA installation) ,
All that has managed to solve the problem .
Now the phone just get warm , as I think it should be for such a thin and powerful device.
I hope that now everyone that have the problem can solve it and enjoy his awesome phone!
Have a great day guys!

What CpuTemp is normal while phone is being used?
My temp fluctuates between 35-45 C (95 F -113F) while web browsing, using Tapatalk etc.
Is it something abnormal ?
My top 2 battery drains are Android OS & Android System.
Thanks
Mine overheats aswell especially on YouTube (56 celsius). Few times I discovered the minimum CPU frequency change to 1.5 ghz.

If you have SD card, it might be causing heat and lag issues, so try to remove it then try phone, if yes then format it, if its not the cause then perhaps you have an app causing problem, so do full wipe from recovery mode, after that try phone for couple of days without downloading any app.
The problem was DVFS. SD has nothing to do with battery drain

The temp seems about right.
My phone got up to 80C when I tried to play it once for more than 10 min and then it just did a reboot...
Within the Android OS and Android System services there are a lot of processes going on... You should try and pin point the exact process that causes Android OS and Android System to be active.
I'm here if you need anything else!

Overheating

Hi, 3 day ago I recieved my Mi4c (3gb) and just after couple of minutes surfing on the net I realized, that the top of the phone is really hot (the bottom was normal). The next day I tried it with game - after just one or two rounds (about 2 minutes) phone got hot again - again at the same area. I downloaded some app and I looked at the temperature after running the game - it showed even 55 degrees Celsia. Is it faulty piece or is it just software issue, which can be fixed by different ROM ?
Under load, the SD808 can get pretty warm.
Add to that the fact that MIUI (in all of its various forms) is a steaming, overheated pile of rhinoceros feces and you have a terrible combination just asking for heating problems.
TS CM13 does a pretty good job of mitigating the software issues that lead to heating.
The phone will always get warm when playing moderately intensive games or when used in direct sunlight on warm (30c+) days.
I found that the miui versions some vendros provide are manipulated or corrupted by vendors,
I suggest you check if your bootloader is unlocked, install a recovery, do a total format (not a factory reset, a full system format from recovery) and install the latest miui,
I had overheating issues and the phone would eat the battery away in less then 12 hours, i did this and im currently going on 39h standby and around 1 - 1.5 hours screen time and i still have 34% of the battery life.
Clean house, start from zero and you might be surprised.
Just installed MIUI 7.1.6.0 Global stable from xiaomi.eu and I like it more tham MIUI 8 already. Plus, phone seems to be a little cooler. Snapdragon 808 is still a hot chip though, so don't expect miracles.
Switched from MIUI 8 because of heat and battery life issues.
I tested different rooms and every room has overheating. The only difference is the time the systems downclock the CPU.
In cm13 I changed the values so it doesn't close the big cores so fast.
But the big cores are still the most time off.
Normally my Temps are between 40 and 60 °C
And that's bad.
Miui doesn't change anything.. Only the time of throttling.
I don't need a phone that throttles itself when turned on.
When I'm home I'll try to open the back cover and take a look.
Maybe I can hard mod it in some way.
I'm facing the same problems here.
I use dual Sim, so I thought this could be the signal usage. But my battery is draining faster and faster. Some times even dropping from 14% to 10% in 1 sec!
When using wifi, the cpu reaches over 50ºC (currently 57-59ºC). MIUI 8 didn't help much.
I'm using my phone a lot, 3G and screen on for long time, but it's dropping from 100 to 15% in less than 7 hours...
Is there anything that I could do?
Install MIUI 7.1.6.0, temps and battery are better, or go Apollo the way and flash CM13 or Slim
I have over-heating problem too. Specially by keeping screen on for several minutes. I'm on miui 8 by xiaomi.edu
The overheating is caused by a ****ty rom some vendors use,
Install the latest recovery, and do a full advance wipe (everything except OTG USB), then do the format,
DO NOT REBOOT the phone, connect it to the PC and copy over the latest miui weekly (i used 6.9.1) and flash it, then see if it keeps overheating.
Apparently some of the malware some vendors install are hard to get rid of, i had weekly, monthly, slim6, Teamsuperluminal and Omni rom installed, and they all showed the same issue. it wasnt until i did this "sanitation" process i managed to get rid of the heat issue.

You found some way to hard mod it ? =) The snapdragon 808 would be very powerful if there aren´t that overheats.
Making some holes in the back cover (get out hot air) or give more space (case is extremly tightly built) ? A heat pipe (passive cooling)?
Things are a lot better using an undervolted kernel. Built one from kuma sources (not for MIUI), I could share if you want.

nice idea with passive cooling
i glued my nhd 14 to the back that helped
no serious i dont have any clue to make the phone cooler with hardware modifications.
without the backcover it isnt cooler. the difference isnt noticable.
i would say how the cpu is build into the phone is wrong.
for me the phone isnt worth it anymore. im moving to a BQ or the HTC10.
why should i use a phone that i have to downclock to a fraction of its performance ?
or i use normally and get throttled after 20 minutes?
and it doesnt matter which os i use any miui or cm version suffers from overheating.
so i think ether xiaomi make mistakes while building the phone or it is just the bad 800 series.
but looking at the lg g4 the picture is the same. so qualcomm is to blame for it.
sorry for this but the only solution is to use a fan on the back OR the better solution buy a better phone ;(
edit:still finding grammar fails
For anyone willing to try this is an undervolted kernel based on kuma's sources and a modified msm8992-regulator.dtsi with lower ceil voltages.
Tested only on CM13 but should work for other ROMs based on CM13. It can make your phone unstable (freezes, crashes), so before you try either keep a backup of your current kernel or simply boot (don't flash!) the kernel to ensure that everything works normally:
Code:
fastboot boot undervoltedk.img
@Ydraulikos
im already using a kernel from kuma (Resurrection Rom) and yeah its very great, less overheating. The Rom itself is slim for less heating too.
But its overheating though while playing 3d games for a longer time.
@kar5ten
..nhd 14.. that would look funny xD.
Yeah the problem is the cpu. Snapdragon 808 and 810 suffering from overheating, 810 more.
But xiaomi could handle this too. Not use this cpu or built better cooling system, instead make it as thin. The most temperatures i have is on the top right. If they used passive cooling like pipe heats for distribute the heat, we don´t have this problem or rather less overheating.
@Ydraulikos thanks i will try this.
@Danny94
i made another test.
i use resurrection rom 5.7.1 with oc kernel 1.12 (intelliactive gov.) custom temp. throttle at 75 C
i opened the back and added aluminium foil .
10 layers on the upper side where the cpu sits and 6 layers above the battery and the cpu. they both are connected.
now i run antutu 3-4 times and i got these results
75899-74012-70371-68155
with max temp of 53 C after those 4 runs.
the idle temps are now at 30 -35 C most time
but i only tested it for 2 hours
@kar5ten
oh nice that sounds like a good idee! And withouth foil wich results you get, antutu - temps ?
The Alumiunium foil could take the heat from the cpu and distribute it over the device, for better result thermal paste as connection between cpu and foil could help.
Maybe with another material (foil) you could improve it as well. The best result you would get maybe if the backcover consists of metal, this way you could get the heat out of the phone, air cools metal. (problems.: back cover can get hot, you can heat back cover with hands[maybe a case])
Care about that foil doesn´t heat up the battery and the metal can disturb radio signals (gps wifi mobile data).
Could you share a picture as well of your modified version here in the forum, maybe one too please how it looks inside. At the moment i don´t have a plan how to open the back cover. =)
I will post some pictures but next weekend. Before I open it again I want to test it.
I don't know the exact results from antutu before I modded it.

2nd 60k
3rd 55 k
At the moment I didn't noticed any signal drop or something.

Thx, well it's not exactly the same problem as you have since my CPUs are running in low power state when the phone is not used.
Anyway, when I start browsing the internet, the phone gets hot and when I'm playing games, it just gets super-hot. (not in charge while using it btw).
Previously, I had a Nexus 4 which is famous for its overheating problems, but the S7 is worse.
This, the ill placed speaker, the poor quality of the AMOLED, I'm so disappointment with this phone.

The AMOLED screen on the S7 was widely regarded as the best screen on a mobile phone when it was introduced.
You're running an unofficial ROM + kernel and running into problems and are blaming the phone? Lots of people seem to hold LineageOS up as the solution to all problems, but on many devices it seems to be a giant hack.
This screen is a piece of **** (mura effect & spots when lowering the brightness), my Nexus 4 screen is at least 10X better.
I'm running Cyanogenmod/LineageOS since the very beginning, never had this kind of problem before...
The S7 Exynos phones do tend to get a bit warm if you're browsing certain websites, Facebook and streaming, and it'll get hot if you're playing resource intensive games like GTA & Bully. That's what happens when your device's CPUs can reach a max clock speed of 2704MHz. Take a look at what apps are running in the background first.
I'm only able to read the battery temp sensor, no other sensor available despite having tried a lot of monitoring apps.
Idle temp : around 29-33°C
Heavy use : up to 45°C
Past 39°C, the phone gets really uncomfortable to use.
I did further testing with another S7 (carrier firmware, brand new), launched a stress-test app on both phones at the same time and after 15 min, mine is 4°C hotter (battery temp). It's not really relevant, maybe due to my tempered glass preventing heat dissipation or some LineageOS optimizations, I don't know. Anyway, the S7 feels way hotter than my previous phones.
it's strange that power user/advanced user have to complaining about overheating and comparing with other brand when they are running unofficial software and kernel. and i think the word 'overheating' is about the cpu/chipset not the battery. *correct me*

Yes but I only have access to the battery sensor. The frame is hot on both phone tough.
i have a snapdragon version of S7 and i don't think exynos version have overheating problem running on official firmware. running Oreo right now and still don't have such problem. and FYI using the phone INFO apps (google playstore), i can see the temperature of the cpu.

Question Poco X3 Pro state

Hi, I am thinking to buy x3 Pro, but at first i want to know if all problems are already fixed.
I read a lot of comments about problems, but most of these comments are 3+ months old, so...
1) under load it gets very hot. Throttling...
Just by running Antutu benchmark few times, you see how score drops over 100K.
2) Touch issues
3) lags in games, Laggy UI, delay when scrolling
4) fast battery drain
5) network Issues, unstable data connection
6) unexpected shutdowns, screen freezes
7) back panel vibration when audio is playing
There are more, but these are most common.
I hope most of these problems come from their "amazing" MiUI, and can be fixed.
I can only confirm point 7 but it's not so noticable unless you are banging music at high volume.
No heat issues but then i'm not running Antutu over and over. No touch issues here but some people mentioned it. Laggy UI? First time hearing this lmao. It's butter smooth even on MIUI. I get 3 days of battery life with 10h SoT on average with 120Hz, i dont think it's bad.. plus i'm using navigation (GPS) and camera quite abit, you can probably get more than that easily. Never had any network or random shutdown issues (almost 20 days uptime, since last update of ArrowOS) probably some people with magisk / mods reported it.

I would agree, although I'm not going so good SoT (but since I'm a light user I still get very good battery life).
Never forget that people report issues, not good experiences. If you look at each indvividual grievance, you'll never buy any phone anyway
"i'm not running Antutu over and over"
It's just one of ways to put your phone under load and immediately see/compare results.
Many smartphone reviewers do this test to see if phone will throttle.
Check this video:
I found video where we can see x3 pro from inside.
On the left is x3 NFC and on the right x3 Pro.
Very interesting decision for x3 pro.
There is copper tape, instead of metallic plate.
Plus, you see that thermal paste is only on memory (3x pro).
If they don't use paste and there is not enough pressure then heat will not be dissipated by pipe.
And here you can see how much they use thermal paste between tape and pipe.
3 small lines on CPU and a bit for memory.
Just look how much more contact surface is on x3 NFC.
Now i understand why x3 pro is so hot.
If your x3 pro is not hot, then you are lucky (there is enough pressure/paste).
If you are not lucky, then idk. It's faulty phone.
1. Yes, the phone gets really hot, but that is only while gaming, especially when on mobile data. I just bought a cheap cooler and everything is fine
2. I had problems on AncientOS only, now on Crdroid i dont have it
3. Games dont lag, ofc u cant play Genshin Impact maxed out, but overall the gaming experience is smooth. On Crdroid i have no problems with scrolling, but i also use Samsung Browser and Relay for Reddit, Chrome and Reddit app were laggy even on custom roms
4. Battery drain is a problem of MIUI, on custom roms i get 8-10h of screen time from 100-20%, but i feel like i should get more than 2-3h of gaming
5. & 6. No problems
7. Yes, the back of the phone vibrates while listening at max volume, which is to be expected with how loud the speakers are and i dont see how this is a problem. Did the people who complain about this ever hold a speaker? Even overhead headphones vibrate while listening at high volume.

wait, only 2-3 hours of gaming and battery is empty?
"Yes, the phone gets really hot, but that is only while gaming"
I think we all will agree that it shouldn't be like this. Either Chipset is hotter than they expected and cooling solution used in older models can't handle it. In this case they had to slightly undervolt/downclock. Or they have huge % of faulty phones (cooling problem) and they simply close eyes on it.
But maybe it all goes by the plan. They know that chip will be hot, but it's fast and it's enough to get good sales.
Yes, its around that, but i mostly play CoD mobile and Wild Rift maxed out, so that might play into that.
I also agree that the cooling solution isn't that good to use this phone to the max and no update will ever fix it without a performance drop. Honestly this device would have been better suited with a SD855, the SD860 is too hot for the device, or at least the body of the phone didnt allow for a better cooling solution. But i guess they didnt want to have a 2 years old chip in a new phone, even if overall that would allow the phone to work faster for a longer period of time.

It's not normal. It's defect, same as cooling system.
Here you can see comparison with Redmi Note 10 Pro at max volume.
Being honest i really dont mind it, actually i enjoy it, the speakers feel powerful.
I feel many of the bugs described on first post and I find it a real shame what POCCO has done with this phone. Cheap phone? Yes! Powerfull? Yes! and... It works as expected? No!
On the other side, there are more than 10 different ROMs available for this phone and most of them are the same. Same bugs and same problems but with different skin.
I loved this phone but after see how it evolves, i feel like i did a bad investiment. Next time i will go for Realme.

I had some of the these issues when I was on miui and before unlocking BL. Phone gets warm during gaming which is perfectly normal and on par with other phones.
I sold my galaxy note 10+ for poco x3 pro, it was the best decision I made this year. Gaming got better with no throttling on custom rom, more fluid, better battery life, native google ui.

how many hours you can play games, or watch videos?
For example, on Realme 8 you can play pubg 6-7 hours (14%/h). On poco x3 pro, around 4 hours (23%/h) But can you squeeze 6+ gameplay hours from x3 pro on lower settings?

I haven't tested that long prolonged gameplays. My comment was against my previous phones - galaxy note 10+ and black shark 2 and it easily lasts for 2 days for my usage. But 4 hrs in 23%/h is still a good life, isn't it? don't get killed yourself playing for so long

Pointless comparison, Realme 8 SoC is about twice slower. It's like comparing if Ferrari or Volkswagen Golf will empty their fuel tanks first. Ofcourse Ferrari will but there is a reason for that. Not to mention 120 vs 60 Hz screen.

Dude turn off this "protective" mode. I am not comparing, i am asking question.
I understand, you own this phone and it's most amazing thing you ever had.
"It's like comparing if Ferrari or Volkswagen Golf"
Reality is that there are more powerful phones on smaller batteries and they live way longer then poco x3 pro. For example poco F3 with 4520 mAh. Even if x3 pro has 5160 mAh, it's battery is empty at point where F3 has more then 20%. And both phones has 120Hz screens. Only difference is that F3 has amoled display.
k3lcior, i am asking question (it's not comparison): why F3 with smaller battery lives way longer? Is it because of amoled display? Is it because of chip which is hot as hell? or?
if we compare processors:
Snapdragon 870 vs Snapdragon 860: tests and benchmarks
We put Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 against Snapdragon 860 to find out which SoC is better. See performance comparison in benchmarks and games.
nanoreview.net
we see that "Efficiency of battery consumption" is the same, so problem shouldn't be in cpu.
so, amoled display does all magic?
I'm not defensive and no it's not most amazing thing i ever had. And yes you are not comparing, but you are asking to compare no?

It does save battery when there are blacks on the screen because they are not 'powered' on AMOLED screens on that large screen it can make large difference. There are also more small details which also can make some difference for example SD card slot, Poco F3 doesn't have one and Poco X3 Pro has one which has to be powered at all times.
Not to mention GSM signal, small signal difference can easily make several % battery life difference which can be easily manipulated hence why these comparisons are idiotic.
And btw. here is less than 40 min. difference in battery life from what i see.
Edit: Also UFS 3.1 in Poco F3 is more power efficient compared to UFS 3.0 in X3 Pro.
Question was, if on poco x3 pro you can squeeze out 6+ hours of pubg gameplay (even on low quality).
Everything else was just additional info.
Why i am asking? Many poco x3 pro owners wrote that battery life is bad. I am trying to understand if problem is software based, or hardware. If software, it can be fixed, if hardware, then you have powerful phone with bad battery life. If F3 and X3 Pro are both on the same soft, then seems that problem is hardware based (IPS screen).
I saw this test and F3 has 24% of battery when x3 pro dies:

Actually I find your attitude toxic. You make some good points but you listen to nothing!
I could tell you that the phone is great, that your points are somehow valid but not really IRL. I'm afraid of your attack though.
Good luck with the phone.

Question Stuck on A09 rom anyone received OTA to android 12 / UI 3.0 ?

Got myself a realme gt neo 2 a few days back and got automatically updated to A09. My info says : RMX3370TW_11_A.09 which is weird as i bought the phone in Thailand (TH).
There is no Region option in the Language settings on my rom for some reason.
I have been trying to find the update to Realui 3.0 android 12 with a lot of VPN but no luck sofar
Anyone an idea how to get the update or is it maybe not released yet in this region ?
Thanks
<Moderator Edit>: English translation added to the top.

Is there idle drain in a09? Iirc that is the latest version for everyone while rui 3.0 is being rolled out.
No problems at all with idle drain or anything else in a09. Very stable

mine is on RMX3370_11_A.09 and for me, the idle drain is present. Losing 2% every hour is a lot.
I think it will be a while for a.09 user to be updated to rui 3. I've got the same version but I change my rom to indian a.07, register for trial version c.03 and from then, got official c.04 android 12 update. So far its been great. The battery is okay. After updating, I recommend to clear data or factory reset and give it some time to adjust to your usage and update the system in background. It only consume battery for couple of days and got back to normal. Don't worry about it.

You need to let the phone charge to 100% and just leave it charged for 3 hours in order to let the phone optimize it after every update. I just found out about this recently.
My only issue with a.09 is for some weird reason realme underclocked the cpu. So there is performance hiccup especially if you play games like genshin.

hmm does the 100% chargee state is in powered on / off position?
Your 2nd point is valid though. I forgot exactly how Pcore and Ecore frequency range when battery temps reach 45-46C playing genshin, monitored via cpufloat app.
Funny thing is if you multitask genshin and then opening antutu benchmark, the cpu frequency went all the way to the max. When idle, this improve genshin impact fps by like 5-10 fps in cities like Liyue. As soon as you focus to the game however, the cpu then throttle back. For me, this is the same as cheating lol.

Powered on. Afterwards I left it with wifi on untouched while I sleep. Probably up to 8 hours.
Yea this is kinda cheating. My guess is realme get bombarded with complaint by indian user not getting a lot of SoT when playing BGMI, so they release this update unannounced to underclock cpu hence giving you the illusion you have a better SoT while playing games.
The reality is you're using half of what sd870 have to offer. Pretty stupid of realme if my assumption is correct, since gaming for mobile realistically on heavy games you should only expect up to 4 hours max. Honestly idk why realme is doing this. Even on rui 3.0 it os underclock.

allright, i usually unplug the phone when battery % reach 82. You know, the more you actually charge to 100%, the less charge cycle you got during the battery lifetime. However i will try your suggestion, see if it will improve the idle drain. If it's not, then i assume the idle drain is always present and will have to wait until the Android 12 arrive. If android 12 does not solve this issue, i guess i have to live with it. I remember owning a Poco F1 and that phone idle drain is like 2% per 8 hours! Which is a total contrary to 2% per hour lmao.
Realme did put some sort of limit on the cpu side, i think, especially in Genshin. You can let the phone be cooled by active cooler like blackshark fun cooler 2. You open the battery app and it reads like 22 C. You turn on the so called "GT Mode" and run Genshin Impact. And the performance figure? Well it performed more or less the same when the device run without the cooler. And even if you use the cooler, and lower the graphic settings to the lowest, it wont get any better since it was cpu limited. (at least, this is my experience while monitoring things)

Yep pretty much the same thing for me. It was actually fine on a.07, but a.09 is when I noticed the underclock. Btw I've just received rui 3.0, updating it now and I'll see how it goes. Will update on performance etc.
Hello. An input to OP from a Swedish user.
I got my phone 1 week ago and even though version A.09 (Android 11) and UI 3.0 (Android 12) is released and available in my region, the phone would not update, or even find any updates. I checked the IMEI via Realme EU site and the IMEI and region checks out correct as EU version.
I found a tip on a Swedish site, and following that, I am now happy with my phone running Realme UI 3.0/Android 12. Here is what I did - please note that at least this worked for my Swedish EU phone and I am not sure if it works in general:
Downloaded and installed a VPN apk from Google Play store (not sure if I am allowed to name any specific)
Established connection to France via VPN
Checked for firmware - the phone immediately found the A.09.
Turned off VPN and downloaded and installed the update. I found out that it was enough to have the VPN connection active while searching for FW - the update could then be downloaded without VPN.
Once A.09 was installed correctly I once again activated the France VPN connection and searched for new FW - immediately the phone found the Realme UI 3.0/Android 12. Followed the same procedure as 4) and the phone is now running the correct region version of Realme UI 3.0.
BTW - I factory reset after the UI 3.0 installation - very fluid experience so far.
Hope this is helpful to EU users who haven't got UI 3.0. Good luck
