Anybody else having issues with Gmail not syncing? Sometimes a random email will come through on time. Most times I have to open Gmail before new emails will arrive. I've cleared data. Using unlocked Note 10.
Go to Battery optimization in Settings. Gmail would be optimized. Just toggle to unoptomize and that should solve the problem.
Yeah thanks. I finally found an article talking about the battery optimization setting. Looks promising so far.
Thanks I was also having that issue now resolved
I'm also having this problem to the extent that I've repacked the phone ready to return to Samsung for a refund. Over the past 3 days, I've tried each of the optimisation settings and no matter what I do, some emails still don't come through.
I've read a lot of S10 owners are suffering the same problem.
Please let me know if any of you have successfully got The emails to sync correctly.
Thanks
Did you go under Special Access-Optimize Battery Usage? Select All. Then find Gmail and toggle it off?

Check that whether your gmail is working properly in any other phone or not. It could be a gmail server issue.
Something similar happened with me about a year back & ultimately it was a problem at Google's end.
If nothing works, do a factory reset and try again.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm going to unbox the phone and give it one more go., I tried so many different configurations, I may have missed that one.

Unfortunately it's still not working. I've got an S7 next to the Note 10 and I'm sending emails from an iPad. The S7 receives them straight away, the Note sometimes takes a minute and sometimes won't receive them at all until I go and open up the app.
Thanks for your help anyway.

Did you factory reset it?......also is your phone on some power saving mode?
Yes. I've factory reset it twice over the last couple of days. It's currently in 'high performance' power mode.
Also having the same issue and have tried all the steps above. Super frustrating when your company utilizes Google Enterprise.
I tried every suggestion to get it to work, but none worked for me.
My solution was to just use my Gmail account with another email app. I'm now using outlook express and I'm very happy with it, it works perfectly now.

Hi guys,
Ive got a sensation on T-mobile and last night i had problems trying to send an sms to one contact in particular, it kept coming back saying unable to send message, i am able to call this contact and also receive their calls and sms. I know its not their phone as it takes sms from their other contacts and likewise mine still sends to the rest of my contacts. I have tried sending a few messages to this contact that i am having trouble with and a few have sent, but the rest come up as unable to send.
I hope someone can shed some light!
Cheers

Ive just deleted my whole inbox of every message and this seems to have solved the problem!
Edit: Nevermind, I just noticed your edit and see that you already resolved the problem. Glad you found a solution, guess I'll have to give that method another try.
Experiencing the same problem with one contact (though for all I know it may affect other contacts as well).
I haven't found a fix that works for me, although I have seen other people reporting the same issue having luck either by deleting all SMS threads or creating new (but identical to the original) APN settings. Neither of these worked for me.
The only two workarounds I have found that have worked are to add a subject to the message which in turn converts it into an MMS which will send without any problem OR using another messaging app altogether.
Yeah it seemed to work ok for me, deleting all SMS threads.
Maybe if you cant find a quick fix, give HTC or your provider a ring, its definitely nothing that we have done wrong!
Good Luck!

I'm having the same exact issue. I can't send sms to one contact using the stock app, but it'll work with GoSMS. Deleting all my threads doesn't work. Anyone have any clues? BTW, I have an Evo 3D, but I doubt the solution would be any difference.
My new mails notifications stopped?!?!?! Huh? Any ideas?! I have to manually go into the Gmail app and click Refresh to see my new mail. I'm on WiFi.
Funnily enough mine have not been working lately either.
---------- Post added at 11:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:54 PM ----------
I've just fixed mine. Try this: Settings, Accounts and Sync and make sure your gmail account has a green circle at the end of it. Mine was greyed out so I clicked on it and sync everything, now it works. Also make sure you have set up ringtone and vibrate for the account you want to use.
I checked that earlier... that's not my problem. It seems like it takes a really long time though. Is there a way to decrease the checking period. Is it push based mail? Or does it have to poll?
AFAIK GMail is push email
Sent from my HTC1S
Was it working and suddenly stopped notifying? If that's the case, try erasing cache and data for Gmail app inside Settings->Apps->Gmail. You'll have to reconfigure Gmail itself (not the gmail account), but it will probably fix your problem.
bye!
I turned off sync and turned it on again and that seemed to work. The push seems to be really slow though.
It seems very some time-ish, I'm watching my notifications very carefully now. Most messages I received took about 2 mins to get to the device... I'm currently waiting on one now near 5 mins.
It looks like Google waits for atleast 2 before they push the message though. Also, I notice that it doesn't seem to push notifications while I'm on 3G/HSPA.
Just replying for me own use... I'm in Jamaica, using Digicel's network. The solution was to just use an APN with web.digiceljamaica.com and no other settings (except APN TYPE as default). No username, no password, no proxy, nothing else.

Hi all,
Moved from a Galaxy S3 to a Nexus 5.
Everything is working great, with the exception of the stock Email app syncing with an Exchange account.
I connect to a zimbra server using the same settings as on he gs3. I connect fine and get all my email loaded. The issue is that syncing of the inbox doesn't work. Sub folders seem to but the main inbox will not even manually sync.
I have cleared the caches, removed and re-added the mail account and I still have the same issue. I can send emails fine. I have also factory reset the phone and still have same prob. Syncing is ticked in every possible setting and my gmail app push syncs fine.
Any ideas? I am at a loss and need my company email as I work on call in the evening and weekends.
Thanks!!
I have the same problem with my N5. My exchange email account would start working again if I force it to re-verify the account settings. But after a while, it would stop working.
I've been using Nexus phones since Nexus One. This is the first time we see an update on the default email app. But it doesn't look like Google has done a great job verifying/QA their app before releasing it to public.
I'm thinking to open up an official support case with Google support if you haven't already done so.
Actually, haven't you tried changing the Security Type in Incoming settings from "SSL/TLS" to "SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)"? I just changed it on mine, and waiting to see if it helps resolve the issue.
I'm having issues with stock email client and company exchange, too.
When set to push, as i usually did on the n4, it won't let the n5 properly go to sleep, but phone keeps awake, and consuming quite a lot of battery overnight.
Sync also has stopped yesterday, but started again 2 hours later, therefore I'm not sure wether it's the n5's or exchange's fault.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for your replies. Yes I have tried this, I have tried every security method (except none, which defaults to SSL/TLS anyways).
I notice if I look under Accounts > Corporate and then my Exchange account, the sync / cancel sync animation is on a constant loop. My S3, for example, just sais 'Last sync at xxxx'. etc. Do you guys notice this also?
Something deff not right with this. How do you log a ticket with Google support? I have tried with Google Groups but getting no response.
Thanks.
Same problem here. Refreshes fine when I manually sync but push is not working. Was working fine on my Galaxy Nexus/Jellybean
I'm not experiencing any of these issues, my sync is working fine, as is the app and battery usage
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I have had to move off the stock app and onto K9. My problem is that the stock app is deleting emails from the server when deleted from the phone, even when I make sure it is set never to do so. My account is a POP account and I have never had this problem with any other app on any other device. I tried recreating the account but it was the same problem.
6 people in the company I work for got a Nexus 5. I tried to set up one of their email accounts yesterday, but it wouldn't do anything. It seemed like it accepted the account, but it wouldn't sync any old mail, and it wouldn't notify about new mail. New mail would only show up about 15 minutes after being sent, and only after the inbox was manually refreshed.
Tried K9 mail. Same thing. I have never had any luck with K9 mail, though.
I'm hoping Google fixes this rather quickly. I'm a developer and I need my work email to always be available, because I am essentially on-call all day.
It seems like Google, in their rush to get KitKat out, did way less QA this time around than they have in the past.

This is similar to what I am seeing. After initial sync, I would never get any new messages. Check your subfolders if you have any, these seem to sync fine.
Whats the process to raise this with Google?

Subfolders were not syncing for me yesterday, however, I'll have to wait until my phone comes in today to really test this. Most of the people I work with don't set up their subfolders correctly in Zimbra because they can never get the filtering to work, and I am always too busy to do it for them. As a result, they make subfolders, but just drag-and-drop what they want in that subfolder from the main inbox-- an utter pain in the ass.
In 4.3, "Take Bug Report" is one of the choiced under Developer Options. If that is still present in 4.4, that would probably be the best place to do it.
If that doesn't work, there is always this: http://source.android.com/source/report-bugs.html
Same as I'm seeing too. Initial email download worked fine. Manual sync works. Push sync is not downloading new emails

Got mine working eventually by following this youtube video - GT5uHXLO298 - sorry won't let me post a link as I'm new! Just search YouTube for this reference number.
Took 3 attempts. First time it got stuck in a sync loop. Second time it stuck at waiting for sync. Third times a charm and now getting push emails.
Slick Google, real slick!

Thanks for posting the link to the video. My auto-sync data is ticked in the Data Usage setting. If I turn off then back on again, it still makes no difference to the sync.
The thing with my issue is that I cant even manually sync, if I try, it does not update any emails which have been delivered to my Outlook client. The fact it only affects my Inbox is strange too, my subfolders sync fine.

Yes, I'm getting the exact same issue. Exchange push sync is working fine, but the e-mail app is keeping the phone awake. My phone went from 100% to 41% battery in 4 hours! I have changed the setting to check mail every 5 minutes rather than push to see if this helps in any way.
I have raised this with our Zimbra provider, and they have said they have seen this on another 4.4 device and are currently investigating. Still not sure if its a Zimbra and/or Email App issue at the moment - I am leaning towards a Zimbra issue but will wait and see.
For now I would personally think oft an KitKat issue, as my problem persists with an MS Exchange Server, not Zimbra.

Zimbra Exchange Problems
I'm having all the same issues with Zimbra Exchange on my Nexus 5. Sync will work the first time. Then it will either stop or get stuck in a sync loop.
I have just been playing with the settings and seem to have gotten it to work for a short time (well more than it has done so far)..
On the mail profile set the Days to Sync from 3 days to 'All'. I also un-ticked the 'Sender Image' under General Settings. After a few mins, it ceased pushing emails again, and the sync loop was showing under account sync settings. Its like it was working whilst it performed its 1st sync, then died straight after
My corporate email account has been pushing and such just fine since I set it up yesterday, we run an Exchange 2007 server at my office. Not sure why it isn't working for you guys..

Hi everybody,
I have the sames trouble with my new Nexus5.
I had a Nexus 4 with an Exchange Push Account and a Zimbra Push Account. No problem !
Yesterday,I configured my Nexus5 with exactly the same configuration. And that is a tragedy !
With a perfect similar configuration, the Nexus5 is unable to synchronize email for Exchange and Zimbra ... For Zimbra Sync loop and drains the battery.
Let's hope Google responds quickly
I am reassured that I am not alone
Hello everyone
I'm unable to make Exchange work on a Nexus 5 from my colleague, it basically doesn't matter what i enter, i always get a connection failure.
Using my LG G3, i do not have any problems with it, is this a known issue? I know it was on Android 4.4.4, however we've hoped it would be fixed in Lollipop.
Thanks for your help!

I got it to work on 5.0 (even had it working on 4.4+) Try using CloudMagic to set it up. That is what I was using on the Developer Previews for my work emails (as the Exchange APK was absent). If you can't get it to work on CloudMagic; it has to be a mistyped username, password, or email.
I know it throws me off when Gmail copies the email address into the username field, as my setup requires a different username than my email.

Here the same.
Exchange connect fine. I see this on the server. Sync works fine to.
But it does not appear in Gmail or Calendar!
If I manually sync my calendar in the app then i can see the entries after 20 seconds for one second. And poff only the Gmail entries are available again.
I reset the phone, Install all new. Clear the cache form the apps... Nothings help. I think is a bug.
Working now, deleted the App Cache and added the Exchange account via Settings, make sure to enter your settings manually, should work this way (atleast it did for me)

Exactly the same for me. Everything was working fine on 4.4.4 until I installed the factory image. Mails and calendar entries visible for a blink of an eye. Then nothing. I'ts so frustrating.

Have already experienced a few times that google have a problem with exchange after a (big) update.

Yeah, but since this is such an essential function for many people you would assume that it has been tested properly.

No themes have been created for this rom. MOAR is a good rom with a few themes built for it though.
Wifi calling not working
wifi calling sometimes will connect, but if it doesn't connect, there is no way to get it to retry or have it even connect. it just doesn't work
Is that a question? Sometimes it never worked right on stock for me either.

Half the time your wifi calling fails is due to sprint bringing down the wifi calling servers... You should join the sprint forums also to keep an eye on the wifi calling server status.
If it's server related usually it reconnects on its own, but in the notifications panel there is a wifi calling icon you can toggle, or you can toggle wifi out-right to force a handshake...
Have been using since posted. yesterday system ui kept force closing with error message. Tried to factory reset and clean install. It worked briefly then same error message and instability. Had to go back to stock deodexed. I hate pop up messages but can't risk the same problem again with this Rom. Any ideas?
Not sure, I've flashed this version and 2 newer ones and I don't get any fc. I would need to see a logcat.
Cant flash 1.4.1
i try to flash 1.4.1 with twrp 2.8.6.0 and it says extracting files and then moves to installing busybox and all the other stuff and says finished, but when i reboot, i get stuck at the galaxy s5 splash screen and then it forces a reboot back into recovery. I have done clean installs and everything and it is not working.

Not sure, I've seen this happen before but don't know why its doing it.
Maybe they need to format internal storage as part of the wipe to make sure they're really getting a true clean install?
It's possible. I've seen it before too, it happened when I did a dirty flash but a clean flash fixed it. Kinda weird.
You guys should try what tdunham suggested and backup your internal storage and wipe it as well.

Thanks for the groovy ROM * I tried TN's ROM, MOAR, and several others. This is looking like the one for me, finally! I greatly appreciate the time and effort you put into making this available for us all! BS/BD *
sms/mms timestamp/sequence issues?
This ROM is amazingly great, first and foremost! After running if for a day now, I'm noticing an issue with incoming text messages. I send a text (time stamp is proper), recipients reply (time stamps are off by an hour earlier). The incoming text messages appear before the original messages I've sent. This is happening with multiple contacts. I tried Handsent 3rd party SMS software, issue seemed to resolve, though I'm not a huge fan of their pop up ads. Also tried 8sms, the ordering issue reappeared. Each 3rd party app was set as the default accordingly. I tried going back the the original pre-loaded messaging application and still have the out of order issue with relies from contacts.
Is anyone else having this or a similar problem? Are there any known fixes besides installing 3rd party messaging apps from the play store?
I did restore messages from my previous ROM's backup, using Super Back up. There were a good # of texts too (over 1k). Those all restored no problem, but this issue of the new texts coming in before my most recently typed message seems odd.
Thanks for any feedback/suggestions/solutions that anyone has to offer!
Thank you! I have that issue with texts sometimes too. It really just started a few days ago. Seems network related.

I'm inclined to agree, I've started to see sent messages send then appear in the wrong order recently. You can also use Google stock messenger that has no pop ups

Problem with apps
After installing MetalRom, have been unable to install any apps from the Play Store. After rebooting, it will begin downloading the app but at either 90% or even 100% download, it will stop and not finish the download or install the app. After that, if I cancel the download, it won't even begin to download any apps after that. It just has that preparing to download. Has anyone else ran into this issue and figured out how to fix it?
Along with that, I was not receiving any text messages, even ones sent to myself

That's a strange one. Try clearing the cache for the playstore, and updating profile and prl. Clear cache for download manager as well.

Thanks for the quick reply. This does require gapps to be installed, correct? And I was able to receive a few text messages but I'm not sure what caused them to come through, but I lost the ability to send any. I did try updating the prl and profile but nothing was happening when I hit the buttons for updating them so I don't think that worked. I've been receiving error code 97 which is usually only a problem for people with Airave so I'm not sure what to make of that.
No, this is touchwiz based, gapps are not needed, and should not be used.
