Enabling DEX on-device with no monitor - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Questions & Answers

On the Galaxy Tab S4, you can run DeX without attaching a screen. I know the screen is much smaller on the Note 10+, but I think it would be cool to be able to do this. I was wondering if any intrepid poker-arounders would be interested in looking at that. I tried using a shortcut maker to run any of the DeX shortcuts that became visible, but had no luck. I did notice there is a DeX panel, whih does not show up in the quick settings panels. It does show on the Tab S4 all the time, and allows you to turn DeX on.
Anyways... food for thought...

Nope not possible as far as I know. And yes the tab has bigger screen so it makes more sense to have it on the tab. I don't thin Samsung will bring that feature to the mobiles as it's probably not worth the hassle for them. I don't think there is much demand for such a feature on the smaller displays.

Decent drawing app

Just discovered "sketchbook mobile" by Autodesk, brilliant drawing app with loads of brushes and even layers. Works fine on my Tab, just needs tools for cutting bits out and being able to load photos to draw on.
Maff, from my Tab
is it full screen?
It is on mine as I have everything set to full screen, not sure if it would be or not otherwise, works really well

Yes, I've mentioned this before of Sketchbook being very good.
I also mentioned there is another title by the name of 'Magic Doodle Premium' which operates very similar to Sketchbook and like the former has tons of pencils/brushes etc to work with.
My only gripe with Sketchbook is it does not utilize the Tablet screen. You need to use Spare Parts to get it to do this.
Magic Doodle Premium on the other hand uses the full screen and is my preferred choice.

[Q] Interested in printing currently active icon theme for use in Zooper widget

Hi, all!
I, and I'm sure many of you as well, have a lot of icon themes / sets installed to my device (currently a VZW Samsung Galaxy Note 3). Lately, I've been sticking with Nova Launcher Prime, and I've noticed that I can click through a few layers of menu to see my currently active icon set. I tend to change these sets pretty often, and sometimes I can't remember which one I'm running. Now, granted the answer is only a few taps away at any given moment, but I'm interested in hooking into wherever Nova is storing that variable and making it available to Zooper Widget Pro so that I can stick it in a cute little box on my home screen.
Yes, this is more an academic pursuit than a functional necessity, but does anyone have any idea if that's doable, and even better where I would start?
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
Tom.

It's possible to make edge panel persistent?

I was wondering if it's possible to make the panel persistent. I'd like it to be visilbe all the time instead of autohiding when entering apps. Is this even possible with root or custom rom?
Not a whole lot of mods for the Edge. Best mod I've seen is RuggedHunter's AutoCocktail. Search RuggedHunter in the play store. Also that 24hr night clock mod...
Seems like having the panel fully visible would block stuff.
That's pretty cool, even though it's not what I'm looking for. I wonder if it would be difficult to make by myself. I'm a programmer but never tried android modding. When edge panels are active on the home screen, they don't block stuff, maybe that would be possible in normal apps ass well. Is there any developer who could at least give me any hint where to start or if this is even possible to do? I found a simple workaround for this. If you'll start popup window and make it as big as possible, you can use both app and screen all the time. Perhaps it would be possible to force apps to launch as popup which would take entire homescreen except edge?

How do I make my display look like Samsung's ad (photo attached - clock, icons, etc.)

The image is from Samsung's product page for one of their Note 20 Ultra covers, which features a transparent strip that shows the display on the phone itself. How can I get that display configuration on my phone?
I would like to get it set up exactly as in this picture, with the clock sideways on the top and the icons on the side below.
All I could manage was to set the Always On Display Clock Style to show the clock sideways, in one single row (screenshot of my phone below).
Thanks!
Can't see the pictures but if it's the case I'm thinking of, I think you need to case itself to activate it
Thank you for answering! I don't know why I can't get the images to display. I also tried to add one from imgur and it doesn't show either. I'm trying again,
This is called the Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G S-View Flip Cover, Black. https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/m...ra-5g-s-view-flip-cover-black-ef-zn985cbegus/. It has a transparent strip along the side. Samsung says that the "Transparent cover window provides critical information when the cover is closed."
I thought that meant that it exposes the Always On Display (or the Lock Screen?) so you can press the icons through the cover. But maybe you are right. I wish I could figure it out. I don't even know where those icons are from, they are completely different (and much nicer, IMO), than the phone, etc. icon on my phone.
The cover only uses either part of AOD but it does not let you press it. Since it's a view cover meant to show what it supposed to show without you needing to open cover.

Thanks, I'm trying to figure out what AOD options it is using, and also the icon style. The case got pretty bad reviews for quality, but the ad picture intrigued me. I want to get my beautiful phone to show off all its bells and whistles too.
I even called Samsung to ask, and the best I can say is that they were less than helpful.

Well looking at the relevant image ,(you posted)
i would say it's super easy, if you know how to
use a app called KLWP (Play Store)
No root or anything etc
Some of my themes that i either "modded or made"
with KLWP.... below.
So my advise is get an
3rd party app eg KLWP and learn how to use it.?
Really super easy.... believe me and it's also relaxing and fun.
Good luck

I read an article about these covers that wasn't great and might make you want to think twice about doing it, which was because that part of the screen always has pretty much the same things showing all the time, it causes screen burn-in, which is not reversible. Think I'd stick to a tap to show method

Just to add to my previous post.
I did this( snapshot) theme... "loosely" similar to your image.
Took me 15 minutes.
Good luck
I think it detects the cover and switches automatically. My S8 used to do that

Yes, you are quite right.
However, how I understand OP post, is that she read, that the actual Samsung Cover has received bad reviews ?
She is looking for alternatives ways to mimic
her screen/phone, to look like the relevant cover .?
Good luck.

Missing 'Lock home screen layout' option

Hi
My mother's S7 phone on stock Android 8, Samsung Experience v9.0 is missing this option and she finds her ihome screen cons are constantly moving or disappearing, presumably because she is long pressing the icons by mistake and then swiping them.
Is there an app (or less preferably ROM) which provides this functionality? All the ones on Play just lock the screen and not the icons.
I asked on the Samsung forum and someone just said to upgrade the phone - doh!
Is there a way to use a different home screen UI is the Samsung one is not modifiable by apps?
It's frustrating that developers are not catering to more senior members who are much more prone to doing this thing. Not everyone has young nimble fingers!
