Seems I'm one update behind. Is there anyway to manually update? Or do I have to wait for TMO to push it

What version are you currently using? 9.5.10? If so, that is the most current for Tmo.
If not, try changing the date, or a factory reset....or actually waiting.

That's what I'm on. I'm slowly catching up on all the latest for this device. I didn't realize TMO controls the updates. 9.5.11 is the latest for the international version. Not sure I want to go through the process of switching over to the international FW

Not difficult at all. And, I HIGHLY suggest "going through the process" leading up to the conversion (proper drivers). Otherwise, the MSM tool wouldn't work in case you brick your phone or are in need of a compete stock reflash.

I'd consider myself a veteran flasher. Can't imagine it too difficult. Still doing research. Any idea if the T-Mobile ROM has any optimizations to run on their network? I just don't want to lose anything. I haven't read enough yet

RCS works on Tmo. Also, for some odd reason, the Horizon Light doesn't work on the international ROM. For those who don't know, Horizon Light is the blue lights that flash on the edges of the screen along with the Ambient Display when you get notifications.

Hmmm so no RCS on the international ROM? So far the only benefit is faster updates? I think until an update comes out that I want to flash I think I'm good. And I think the RCS is the Tmobile variety not the Google universal profile

It's a two-part deal. International pushes faster updates while TMobile begins lagging behind on their end, increasing the gap. I would be on International firmware if not for a physical defect with my phone (inconsistent battery & soft microphone while using speakerphone).
Replacement will be converted promptly. I'll have to solve the Horizon Light at a later time. Not a deal breaker, but I don't like having features that outright don't work anymore.

Yeah I was just on the international version and my blue light was working as well. RCS no of course. Just went back to the T-Mobile version this evening though.
So, do you recommend staying on tmo rom or switching to the international?

I recommend switching. The TMo firmware still had some quirks, like the ghost touch issue & shorter battery life.
I have no issues and I'm on Tmobile and Sim unlocked and Bootloader unlocked from OnePLus Token . My phone runs smooth .

Sorry. Just got power restored this morning after the hurricane. Anyways, I had zero issues with the int version. If you don't like using a different launcher and need/want the Google feed or whatever it's called today, keep the T-Mobile version. If not slap on Nova launcher on int version. I myself prefer the int version just because I dispose the T-Mobile startup logo and sound. Lol. I know, first world problems.

Yeah. When I had the int version, I ran that for awhile with no issues. Had my phone carrier unlocked, installed the Android 10 beta that dropped the 3rd. Anyways, I had bars but the x next to reception. No data and late to arrive text. Instead of messing around with things right before the hurricane came, I just went the safe route. Reinstalled int version then Android 10 beta this morning, and all was groovy.

well that's underwhelming for people who like to use the stock firmware, wonder if verizon will get jellybean out for the s3 this year...was at my local vzw store yesterday and the sales guy was surprised to see a touchwiz-less S3 running jellybean. then i got an earful about voiding warranty when all i went there to do was get a sim for my wife's nexus. (my old phone, just replaced it with the S3 this week)
Happy to see that error being killed. A couple of areas around Rochester are basically s3 dead zones thanks to that. Not quite as exciting as jb but... enough to make me happy.

The JB upgrade will most likely come in late 1st Q.
No new radios? Nothing updated that needs to be?
Typical verizon and this ****, didn't a UK Update come out in July that fixed some issues? Where the hell is that one...
I had a sim error once, when I went to install my SD card I realized the vzw rep didn't fully insert the sim card... never again since then.

This is a Verizon only issue that NEEDS to be fixed. It is bull that Verizon wasted time locking down the bootloader that they screwed up their device... but to people who live in one of the "dead zones" the phone is all but useless as anything except a music player. Just because it's not an issue you have suffered doesn't mean it's not a necessary and needed fix.

The NO SIM error is ridiculous, and I am glad this will fix it. For those who don't know, some people can hardly use their S3 at times. I've had instances where every time I try to send a text for 20-30 minutes, it says sending, I lose all connections (no network at all) for a minute or two, then it reconnects, rinse, repeat. This happens when trying to send texts AND making a phone call. Imagine if you had an emergency and every time you tried to call your network dropped for 2 minutes.
But I don't know what else this will do to the phone. Disable current root methods? Bootloader issues?

Yes, many of us have the same issues, even in great 4G areas like DC. No new sim card or handset replacement would ever fix it. Took long enough for VZW to release this fix.
As usual if you are rooted/unlocked/running a ROM do NOT download the OTA update. Wait less than 24 hours for someone on the forums to debloat and flash manually. Obviously if you are stock, rooted, and locked go ahead and take the update VZW pushes out.

Anybody else surprised there was no leak for this build? Or any other build for that matter? Especially having it go live within the week. I don't know maybe seeing so many leaks on previous devices over the years has left me spoiled. Regardless I am looking forward to some new radios.

I'm not familiar with how these updates work on a Samsung phone.....I had a droid x2 and when that phone received and OTA update it would prompt you to download and install the update. That's not good. I really have no desire to root the phone at this point but this may push me in that direction. I'm surprised that's legal.... When updating you typically lose all service briefly, which I would think is a choice up to the user. I would be pissed as hell if this thing updated without me ok'ing it.

I had this no sim error only in a few places around my home area... but one of those areas included my house. Two new sim cards and two new S3s later, I am extremely happy to hear about this fix! Oddly enough, I never got a no sim error here on a 2 week business trip to Utah.
Had to manually load the update tho, now all is well! Thx for the tip!

Hrmph. I buy and sell a lot using the ebay app. The update killed the app.
Just got the update pushed to my phone. Deferred until we find out if the new version is rootable/unlockable.
hi guys,
so i am in the market for a new phone and decided to sticking with Samsung and going to an S4. the problem is that with all the bs about the locked bootloader, i do not feel confident about buying the AT&T model and to be honest, i also don't feel like giving AT&T any of my money. so that leaves me with 2 options: go with the GE which is a lot more expensive and also only comes in white or just buy a T-Mobile model and get it unlocked so i can use it on AT&T. so my question is if anybody here did that and just bought a T-Mobile model and runs it on AT&T?
any other advice?
I bought the t-mobile s4. I run it on AT&T and have had no real problems. The one thing that I have noticed, running a few custom roms, is that LTE drops in and out.
I've also noticed some weird behavior regarding talk and data. If I take a phone call, data ceases to work for a few seconds. I'm pretty sure this is an apn setting or a rom issue. Nothing to do with the network I'm running on or anything like that.

That or just run a AT&T Rom. I am under the impression they are the same device, once you confirm that I would recommend just running an AT&T rom to avoid issues. If I am wrong please someone let me know. It would have to be the non Loki version.
Their may be some international roms you can flash as well
Please double check this information before flashing, even though they seem to have almost everything in common they may differ in minor ways (radios and so on) I do not have a S4 to test and have not read around.

edit: looks like you are right and most roms will work on the t-mobile device, you just need the correct kernel.

trust me, if it was up to me, i would have kicked AT&T a LONG time ago since i really do hate this company and how they treat their customers. however, since i don't actually pay the bill (my company pays for my phone and it is their account), i don't have any other option.

Honestly I do not mind AT&T at this point. Yes, locking down phones and cheating people out of money bugs the crap out of me... but they have been really good to me.
In the last couple of months they have:
1. Let me upgrade to the HTC One for $200 without charging one of my upgrade and waived the activation fee
2. Gave me the option of canceling all my lines early or take credits for my trouble
3. Gave me about $300+ in credits
4. Told me that I can upgrade early on my line that isn't available for an upgrade until May of 2014 (just as long as it is not an iPhone)... I'm going to save it for the next big thing.
How can I complain?

Yeah I got really lucky. Talked to all the right people and they were great. I find that you have to push a little and they will help, don't accept the first thing you hear. Everyone at AT&T will give you a different answer so it can be hard. I also noticed that a lot of them have different policies and things they can do. They have no idea what the other call centers are saying.

I have run AT&T as well as T-Mobile ROMs. I believe you need to (I have been doing so, after getting a black screen) run a T-mobile kernel though. None of the custom roms I have flashed have radios or modems in them. Generally, custom roms don't include them, because well terrible if you flash the wrong thing.

I didn't see an update from you about this, but I wanted to weigh in. I saw this thread and your issue. I installed the update myself and it seemed to stay on the Sprint LTE screen for way too long. I actually had time to stare at it, worry, then pull up this thread, reread your issue, read the reply about recovering, and reread the solution! Then the screen dimmed and after I stared it down some more, it loaded the system stating the update was successful. Not sure if this was your issue, but maybe? For those that may run into this, I guess be patient!

I had same issue before this update. Phone was stuck on beta version and said I was on the latest version when checking OTA. Smartswitch is complete garbage. Not only do you have to mess around with old C++ redistributable just to get the latest Smartswitch to run, once you do get it running the auto-prompt to revert back to stock no longer worked and the manual recover feature also didn't work as it said I had an invalid serial number even know I didn't. Not only did it not work, apparently the serial it wants is on the box only so if you don't have the box your SOL. I had the box and it still didn't work. Total lousy tool and worthless.
I ended up having to flash the official build with ODIN doing a clean flash. Once I did that, everything was great. Issues went away (battery drain, lag, getting hot, etc) Now this latest update popped up like normal. Update didn't take long to install, all good.
So those that were on beta at some point, use ODIN to flash official build. I already have a GS8+ on order and moving to big red after 15+ years with Sprint. Sprint is taking away subsidy on top of I can't take the network anymore it's total crap. That is a story for another day.
Well if anyone cares, the update includes the checks against hiding GPS mock apps from system. No more hiding. No more Pokemon Spoofing, if you're into that.

I just checked with your app. It still does not work in Pokemon. It says failed to detect location. The "fix" was almost specifically to benefit Niantic.
Stuck at LTE Screen

To fix the issue, I had to perform a clean Odin flash then update. I'm guessing the conflict was related to me previously being on the beta versions of Nougat.

I have the same issue. Updated late Sunday evening and never got past the LET screen. I left it on over night plugged in and still at the LTE screen in the morning. Went to Samsung Experience Center in Best Buy and they re-flashed and all was well with no data loss.
I was prompted for the update again this morning, ran it and again looking at the damn LTE screen as I type this. The Samsung folks are off until Thursday so trying to figure this out. The SmartSwitch app does not recognize the phone.
Will look at Odin and appreciate any tips you, or anyone, has.

Hi all,
I think enough time has passed for those on EE to get an update, absolutely no sign whatsoever and not entirely sure where or who will be providing the update; has any one has success updating yet?
I'm currently on 9.5.1 and system updates fail constantly.
Is there an option to root and install a custom ROM?I'd rather do that then wait for EE/Oneplus.

I have tweeted the same question and EE responded with "The updates will come from OnePlus". I think you can flash the regular OnePlus 7 Pro ROM on the 5G variant but I think 5G functionality will be lost.

I've just had a lengthy (about 1h30m) chat to OnePlus and they were totally useless. I saved the chat history as a lot of the things were basically - reboot the phone, wipe cache and then finally erase everything; although I knew these steps would not work and I explained I had already tried that I done it anyway just to satisfy his requests.
Afterwards he pretty much said "Ah well, nothing more we can do then"
I find it hard to believe that between EE and OnePlus no body has the answer?

Mines updated to 9.5.3 on release day 30/5/19 nothing since 4g up to 9.5.7 with camera improvements yet us mugs who bought the best one going getting left behind
Sooner the exclusive deal comes to an end the better
Upgrade it to a international model and ditch EE tweaked rom

While that is a possibility, why pay more to have 5G when we'd be losing 5G functionality if we convert to an international model.

Tried Oxygen updater and still no joy, unfortunately!
What does it say? Up to date or just update failing?.
Just failing still ?. Same error message as always
Seems to me that OnePlus has pulled the update for some reason.
Mine updated to 5.3 when I first set it up.
Not really had to many issues with mine, no ghost touches or anything. All I've had is the odd crash on nova launcher when exiting my banking app for some reason but other than that not much to complain about.
That being said I would like to see the camera updates that are being talked about in 5.7 as these are supposed to make a significant difference to the pictures.

Bloody strange... Surely if it's failing to update its defective.
I just find it hard to believe its a flagship device and know one knows what the hell is going on.

There are also people on the EE forums with the same problem.
I'm sure EE knows what's up here, but reaching the "right people" there is probably very hard.
It's a phone with essentially a "Beta" radio, using effectively "Beta towers", and I bet that they're gating the updates, carefully, based on that fact.
In time, I'm sure this will "smooth out", as 5G becomes a bit more proliferated, but right now, if you have a 5G phone, you're effectively a "Beta Tester", IMO, even IF the carrier doesn't "sell it" like that...
It's too bad they didn't abstract the builds a bit more, across the OP7, OP7 Pro (several variants), and the OP7 Pro 5G.
I bet OP will do some work here, as things evolve, to "limit" this issue. It's possible too, that they already did this, and EE "botched things", in terms of the carrier-development side, good luck figuring that out though, or getting anyone to admit it...
I returned my phone to EE as it wouldn't update (just said it was up to date, but on 9.1) and I started suffering numerous ghost touches and random crashes.
Unless Op / EE get this sorted, I suspect I'll go to 3 when they launch 5g in August

Yeah, it's a **** state of affairs. How long ago did you get the phone, on day of launch?
Oh, just as side note. I searched on Google for days for an answer and nothing came up. One search on Duck Duck Go and the second and 3rd post are full of people with the exact same problem.
Yes, I got mine on launch day. Gave it the befit of the doubt she allowed 3 days to get an update- nothing turned up and it was pretty un-useable due to the ghost touches.
That's when I told them to take it back

Go to the Samsung apps folder on the app drawer, then Samsung Members app is there, unless maybe you rearranged your apps drawer.
Samsung rep on Twitter said the banner would come late today maybe but more likely tomorrow.

It will just show up below the top band of banners, like a small strip (Thats my guess as that is where one Ui 2 ones showed up). You cab try my opening App info for Members app >>Storage and clear Data but make sure that you know how to log back in to your Members account. After this when you open the app the One UI 2 banner will show up (Thats where One UI 3 one is going to be is my guess)
In India, updated today evening. Crashes Samsung Music Player and buggy app drawer. Lingers long time at 84% during update. Rest fine so far. Looks are cool. No exciting features though. Yet to explore.
There is a possibility that only people who are on August or September patch will see the banner. The reason being that the beta build might be based on / tested on the older builds. I am thinking of reverting to an older build, any thoughts?
