Al00 rollback from 9.1.0.135 to 9.0 is possible - Huawei Mate 20 X Guides, News, & Discussion

Those who updated to EMUI 9.1 Beta Firmwares and hated the EROFS and can't enjoy root can rollback to EMUI 9.0.
I was able to rollback from 9.1.0.135 to 9.0.0.200.
-Download the latest HiSuite.
-Click on "Update"
-Click on Previous Version
- HiSuite will then start to Download the EMUI 9.0 firmware, in my case it downloaded 9.0.0.200. Probably because this is the last EMUI 9.0 firmware.
- One download is complete it will proceed to install the firmware to your device.
- Once complete, you device will reboot to recovery and complete installation.
Note: This process will delete all your user data.
Goodluck!!

So you planning to use latest pre-EROFS to get/keep root and decrypt.
Is .200 the latest AL00 pre-EROFs version?
Do you need a HiSuite version > HiSuite-9.0.2.301?
I was going to do HSTool to do the rollback myself, though HiSuite would be easier/less crashes.

I'm on 9.1.0.120 right now with Globalized ROM 2.2 will stay on it until someone figure out EROFS.
9.1.0.120 is the last pre-EROFS. The next update to 9.1.0.120 is 9.1.0.123 which is when EROFS start.
Huawei website has HiSuite 9.0.3.300 but it update itself to an even newer version. The process was simple and straight forward. The only downside is that it will delete your data.

Thanks.
Did you have to unlock your bootloader again after the 133 and 135 updates closed it?

Yes, I think I did when I updated to .135 before.

Official Nougat firmware for Honor 8 (FRD-L04; USA)

Hi,
Does anybody know when the official Nougat firmware will be available for the Honor 8 US Model (FRD-L04)?
I received the Nougat update via OTA back in February but downgraded to Marshmallow due to battery drain issues. I haven't received the update via OTA again, so I'm looking for official Nougat firmware to try it manually.

I had the same problem just wipe cache in recovery and wipe data of the system update app.

It is available, I have the B385 OTA update on my FRD-L04. Maybe check on your PC with HiSuite if the update can't be found from your device.

You can try Firmware finder to have the latest firmware.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
I received OTA Update of B385 on my L04 couple of months back in Karachi, Pakistan
I have downgraded multiple times to Marshmallow and have always reviewed the OTA update.
Incase you're not recieving it, unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP. Then use Firmware Finder to download the firmware shown in the screenshot below. Flash all the downloaded files using TWRP. You will be updated to nougat without wiping anything.
(In future, remember that all firmwares that end with PV can be flashed using TWRP)
Thanks for the suggestion on using FirmwareFinder.
I tried different packages from FirmwareFinder but the installation stops at around 5-6% and throws an error saying it's not compatible, even though I seem to have selected a FRD-L04 compatible Nougat package. So I gave up on that.
I'm a bit surprised to read comments that OTA update has been pushed even after downgrading to MarshMallow several times. I downgraded sometime around March and haven't received OTA update not even once (in the US).

Ah dload won't work to install the Nougat update.
As I said, unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP recovery. Then install those zip files from TWRP as you would install a custom ROM. However, instead of installing B360, you can install B385 update to be on the latest version. Use Firmware Finder to download the update but ensure that the update is FullOTA-MF-PV as shown in the screenshot attached.
Or if you don't want to unlock the bootloader, then no problem. When you hit the firmware in Firmware Finder, along with Download there are other options too. Select 'Get an update through DNS' and follow the instructions.

You won't get any Nougat upgrade notification until you update your device up to B162 which is the last MM version for your FRD-L04C567.
If your device is stock and locked you just need to push the B162 FullOTA (version 66280) using Firmware Finder proxy installation method. Then you should get the B360 update notification. But if for some weird reason the notification doesn't come up automatically, then go ahead and push the B360 FullOTA (version 72309) using the same FF proxy method. For B385 (version 83098) it will be the same procedure.
I've done it myself before and it works.

[OTA] B008 for 701L (sept 7th 2017)

As you can see here:
Team MT's extract from Huawei OTA database
(download links are available on the page non translated = http://hwmt.ru/hwmtsite/firmware-database/?firmware_model=GEM-701L&firmware_page=0)
A new incremental OTA is available for 701L since sept 7th 2017, it's GEM-701LR001C100B008. it at least "Improved system security and stability with the latest Google security patches". But it's still android 5.0.1 & EMUI 3.0.5 !
As an incremental OTA, it has to be installed using EMUI3 local updater (put update.zip in a dload folder at the root of your internal or external sd card, then settings->updater>menu->local update.) on this complete rom already running on the device:
GEM-701LV100R001C100B005
(this link gives you the full rom package, so you can reinstall it/or upgrade your B003, by emui local update also)
Hi,
i´m on GEM-701LV100R00C100B005 but there is nor OTA available.
Is it possible to download the updatezip from Huawei directly ?

Just get my hands on a brand new GEM-701LV100B005R001C100B003 .
Unfortunately GEM-701LV100R001C100B005 update.zip file is not available on download neither on TeamMT extract from huawei database, nor through Huawei firmware finder, nor through Huawei Danemark website, where the full rom has been downloadable for a moment
So I tried to install this OTA incremental update on top of GEM-701LV100B005R001C100B003 directly. But like you allinstallation with dlaod stop at 3%. Either direct download + emui local update, Firmwar finder + its proxy, downlaod with firmware finder + emui local update. All of this with both version of the OTA (sept 1st 2017, and sept 7th 2014).
So I dig a bit more and found a full installation file for GEM701LV100R001B005CUSTC100D001 . It'll take a couple hours to download, but I'll be able to test B008 OTA on this firmware, and I'll let you know!

---------- Post added at 07:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:11 PM ----------
Hello,
dload with Update B008 stops at about 17 % .
i hope to get the full b008 Rom to install it with adb and fastboot.
The fact that you have to use fastboot to install those huawei files, means that's something is wrong since the begijnning with your device installation.
- do a EMUI factory reset (in settings) on your installed B005
- Retry to install full B005 (please check/verify the archive first, with your archive-software). Install it through EMUI 3 local updater: put the dload folder containes in B005 archive, into the root of your internal storage or a external sd card, then then settings->updater>menu->local update. That's the way I used for the 701L I updated from B003 to B008. Try also 3 buttons pushed reboot with dload well placed, if emui local update did not worked
this SHOULD work. If not, that could me the same cause that make.
My point is for you to suceed a dlod install before trying something else!
Don't worry as soon as @ajsmsg78 put the TWRP flashable stock B008, you'll have a way at the end to obtain your 701L on last stock rom!

Let me know for your device. And don't worry, I'm sending now to ajsmsg78 what he needs to finish his TWRP recovery flashable 701L B008 file!

Help for update for news roms Oreo

I was in Nougat and always updated my Mate 9 downloading firmware by FF and used the tutorial here script and HWOTA folder,
I installed Oreo using the script but now when trying to install another newer Oreo firmware, it is not possible because TWRP does not install anymore.
I do not want to downgrade. I want to be able to upgrade to the newer Oreo firmware. How do I do it now? Am I stuck on this beta rom forever?

[GUIDE]Rollback From Oreo

HWOTA won't work with OREO, so we need to rollback manually with ADB.
this guide (more like just code memo) is for people who didn't backuped before update,
or can't go back to B183 directly by any reason (like dead capacitive keys).
What You Need to Read
[STF-L09C432] How to install Oreo on your H9

https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/guide-honor-9-t3653719/post75439859#post75439859
What You Need to Download
HWOTA (Windows tool)
Firmware Finder (Windows tool)
ADB and Fastboot (Windows tool)
C432B120 Firmware File
Stock NoCheck Oreo Recovery
What You Need to Have
unlocked bootloader and superuser, ADB.
adb push won't work, so you will need microSD card.
exFAT may not work on some ROMs (like Treble AOSP 8.0), so format it to FAT32.
What You Need to Do
1.
download B432C120 from Windows Version Firmware Finder and rename it (check [REBRAND] Honor 9 Thread).
why B120? bcuz it's the only firmware that leave capacitive keys and flashlights alive.
put them into microSD card root, with NoCheck Oreo Recovery .img (check How to install Oreo Thread).
insert microSD card to your phone and connect the phone to your PC and open ADB.
first of all,
Code:
adb shell
su
let's change recovery with NoCheck one first.
Code:
dd if=/storage/sdcard1/STF_RECOVERY_OREO_NoCheck.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/recovery_ramdisk
dd if=/storage/sdcard1/STF_RECOVERY_OREO_NoCheck.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/erecovery_ramdisk
note that 'sdcard1' maybe different, like 'E1F2-A123', base on your ROM. It's your sdcard's name.
We'll put Firmware into recovery cache and make stock recovery to flash it.
Code:
echo --update_package=/sdcard/update.zip > /cache/recovery/command
echo --update_package=/sdcard/update_data_public.zip >> /cache/recovery/command
echo --update_package=/sdcard/update_all_hw.zip >> /cache/recovery/command
reboot recovery
note that 'sdcard' is not 'sdcard1', so you don't have to change it to sth like E6F3-A496.
your phone will reboot 2, 3 times and will suggest low level format and download new firmware.
now go to fastboot and unlock the bootloader.
this will do low level format.
2.
now your phone is something like EMUI 8.0 Android 7.0, with broken build number.
do HWOTA (no need to do rebrand, just do firmware flash with update option) with C432B120 we downloaded before.
This will make your phone Stock C432B120.
3.
Let's Go back to B183, the newest Nougat ROM.
download Firmware Finder for Huawei app at Play Store.
choose C432B183 and update it with proxy.
maybe you got 'yet approved' error,
but there are quite numerous C432B183 so check every single one of it.
There is one that is flash-able.
4.
TADA, now you rollbacked your phone.
I think you can also rollback with Hisuite on PC, I did a few times to rollback from beta.
I don't like your guide because :
-You're flashing a B120 firmware which is not to rollback from oreo when there is already a B183 oreo's rollback available for this on FF.
-You have to flash it 2 times to fix your build version issue (maybe because it's not a rollback firmware).
Please note that your step 1 & 2 are the same, you just did hwota manually on step 1.
-You then updated from B120 to B150 when you could have directly updated to B183 not for oreo's rollback on FF.
Sorry.

Never tried that, but it would be much more simple and clear. This Thread will become useless though lol.

1. isn't that rollback for beta B321 and disables capacitive keys and Flash lights with B360a?
2. that's the point of this guide, since HWOTA is not properly working with oreo. you can just change the strings inside the hwota.sh if you want to.
3. no you can't jump to B183 directly from B120, shows approve error. any other firmware except B150 shows the error, same to B183 from B150.
Thx for the opinions though.

Nope, it's a rollback from oreo B3xx.
It's still has to be tested if rolling back from B3xx to B183 mess with capacitives keys.

Sorry but you are wrong : by using FF on B120, I can guarantee you that YOU CAN update to approved B183 using the full ota update ( the B183 one that is not to rollback).

I found out that We do can OTA to B183 directly, so I changed the GUIDE + some minor change.
2. now your phone is something like EMUI 8.0 Android 7.0, with broken build number. d
I didn't get this point. i mean with hwota (link you put in) we have just 2 options. update and rebrand. we have no choice for just flashing. sorry for my bad understanding.

do update.
which version of B183 are we supposed to take? I choose the last one: 116404
but I'm not sure it's the correct one. (changelog tell it's a rollback firmware)
seems the good one is the 111176 (changelog is not about rollback)
Don't follow this outdated OP and thread which were never right in the first place.
For rollback use HiSuite or HuRUpdater.

First, try this => On the phone, go to "Settings" and "System Update", tap on "3 dots" (options menu) and check for the "Full package" update.
If no update found then try the RedLotus method (you don't need to have an unlocked bootloader / flash a modded recovery, if you install an approved firmware): https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-flashing-unapproved-firmwares-t3668306
You will need HiSuite 5.0.1.300 (for RedLotus, do NOT update it) => https://www.mediafire.com/?rrd2efg73erp6yt
The following "filelist.xml" link of the latest approved B562 firmware (FRD-L09C432) => http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G3109/g1699/v184123/f1/full/filelist.xml
Good luck!
EDIT: Rollback from B521 to Nougat was not needed... maybe the update was available via System Update app but it required to check for the "Full package" update in options.

Thanks bro, when I have time I'll try it ?
Is there another way without unlock bootloader ?

Actually not. Well, not free. Beside the official method (useless if you don't own the code as huawei discontinued that) there are a few alternatives but they will cost you money. The most reliable, cheap and discussed here on XDA is DC Unlocker. It will vost you 4€ and there are plenty of tutorials avaible for it

For what regards the topic, i've managed to uodate my phone to B562 with Hisuite. I was coming from a bad situation, my phone was unusable (couldn't boot at all) but luckily i was still able to boot into eRecovery. So i did that and from here i've downloaded the latest package (it was at that time B521 if i'm not wrong) and let it install. After that i've used Hisuite to rollback to Nougat and from here i got two update the first was a Security patches update, the second was Oreo directly in B526. Later weeks i found out that from eRecovery actually it installs the B526 so no need to rollback anymore. At least that was my experience
