I was in Nougat and always updated my Mate 9 downloading firmware by FF and used the tutorial here script and HWOTA folder,
I installed Oreo using the script but now when trying to install another newer Oreo firmware, it is not possible because TWRP does not install anymore.
I do not want to downgrade. I want to be able to upgrade to the newer Oreo firmware. How do I do it now? Am I stuck on this beta rom forever?

Frd-al00's rollback is different from l04.
If you are in official emui 5.
I suggested you download hisuite in huawei website, and then connect your phone to pc, click system update in hisuite, you will see rollback button.

Interesting discussion. so is 360 the only version you can do a straight flash back to in TWRP, or is there a newer version?
Can the stock rom be rooted using Magisk or SuperSU - can one of them be flashed immediatedly after flashing the update zips before rebooting, while twrp is still loaded?
Rommco05 said:
B360 is first stable Nougat for most models and I starting from this firmware and after update device with OTA. Yes supersu works, I was using modified supersu wich is posted in twrp thread by openkirin team and I always install them after first boot to rom

Yes, but if you flash back to b360, it doesn't take OTA updates, and I don't want to relock the bootloader.
The main issue I have with stock is the inability to turn off the battery charging LED - it really annoys me.
Help.
Been messing around. I'm now on b380 but camera doesn't work and updates don't work. I've lost twrp, and if I try to install it it fails, although my boot loader says it's unlocked. It's there a way to flash the restore from a pc if I can't get twrp reinstalled?

Hi,
Does anybody know when the official Nougat firmware will be available for the Honor 8 US Model (FRD-L04)?
I received the Nougat update via OTA back in February but downgraded to Marshmallow due to battery drain issues. I haven't received the update via OTA again, so I'm looking for official Nougat firmware to try it manually.

You can try Firmware finder to have the latest firmware.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
I received OTA Update of B385 on my L04 couple of months back in Karachi, Pakistan
I have downgraded multiple times to Marshmallow and have always reviewed the OTA update.
Incase you're not recieving it, unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP. Then use Firmware Finder to download the firmware shown in the screenshot below. Flash all the downloaded files using TWRP. You will be updated to nougat without wiping anything.
(In future, remember that all firmwares that end with PV can be flashed using TWRP)
Thanks for the suggestion on using FirmwareFinder.
I tried different packages from FirmwareFinder but the installation stops at around 5-6% and throws an error saying it's not compatible, even though I seem to have selected a FRD-L04 compatible Nougat package. So I gave up on that.
I'm a bit surprised to read comments that OTA update has been pushed even after downgrading to MarshMallow several times. I downgraded sometime around March and haven't received OTA update not even once (in the US).

Ah dload won't work to install the Nougat update.
As I said, unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP recovery. Then install those zip files from TWRP as you would install a custom ROM. However, instead of installing B360, you can install B385 update to be on the latest version. Use Firmware Finder to download the update but ensure that the update is FullOTA-MF-PV as shown in the screenshot attached.
Or if you don't want to unlock the bootloader, then no problem. When you hit the firmware in Firmware Finder, along with Download there are other options too. Select 'Get an update through DNS' and follow the instructions.

You won't get any Nougat upgrade notification until you update your device up to B162 which is the last MM version for your FRD-L04C567.
If your device is stock and locked you just need to push the B162 FullOTA (version 66280) using Firmware Finder proxy installation method. Then you should get the B360 update notification. But if for some weird reason the notification doesn't come up automatically, then go ahead and push the B360 FullOTA (version 72309) using the same FF proxy method. For B385 (version 83098) it will be the same procedure.
I've done it myself before and it works.

Background: I got my Honor 8 today, model # FRD-L04 (important later), updated to EMUI 5.1 and Nougat via Updater on phone, and decided I wasn't satisfied with EMUI. So I rooted and that went smoothly, but when I tried to flash a custom ROM, I bricked pretty hard. Long story short, tried flashing multiple ROMs until I found one that worked. The ROM I'm on right now has EMUI 5.1 and build number FRD-C900B131, which is completely different from my original build (FRD-L04). Looked it up and turns out it's a variant of the H8. Unfortunately, I tried to update via Updater and there were no updates available, so I'm stuck with EMUI 4.1 and MM for now (not complaining, since at least it works again). I also tried flashing the rollback ROM for the L04, but I got an incompatibility error when I tried dload method. So now, question is how do I get back to my original stock FRD-L04 ROM, or how do I update to Nougat on this model version (C900B131)?
Thanks for the quick reply. Could you guide me through how I would approach this? I'm not sure which TWRP to use for my (incorrect) build. Do you think using the TWRP for my correct build (L04) should be okay? I'm on EMUI 4.1 also, I think the EMUI version matters too when choosing which TWRP to flash.

Dude, i have the same problem, i´m stucked on android 6.0, my build number is C900B131 and it´s FRD-L04. Did you find an update for that exact same number? If so, could you please send it to me?
How about FRD-L09C900B131?
Those who updated to EMUI 9.1 Beta Firmwares and hated the EROFS and can't enjoy root can rollback to EMUI 9.0.
I was able to rollback from 9.1.0.135 to 9.0.0.200.
-Download the latest HiSuite.
-Click on "Update"
-Click on Previous Version
- HiSuite will then start to Download the EMUI 9.0 firmware, in my case it downloaded 9.0.0.200. Probably because this is the last EMUI 9.0 firmware.
- One download is complete it will proceed to install the firmware to your device.
- Once complete, you device will reboot to recovery and complete installation.
Note: This process will delete all your user data.
Goodluck!!
So you planning to use latest pre-EROFS to get/keep root and decrypt.
Is .200 the latest AL00 pre-EROFs version?
Do you need a HiSuite version > HiSuite-9.0.2.301?
I was going to do HSTool to do the rollback myself, though HiSuite would be easier/less crashes.
I'm on 9.1.0.120 right now with Globalized ROM 2.2 will stay on it until someone figure out EROFS.
9.1.0.120 is the last pre-EROFS. The next update to 9.1.0.120 is 9.1.0.123 which is when EROFS start.
Huawei website has HiSuite 9.0.3.300 but it update itself to an even newer version. The process was simple and straight forward. The only downside is that it will delete your data.

I still haven't got the update process to work, i've had problems with every possibile way:
eRecovery update - during the download process after a while eRecovery automatically reboots the phone, and when i re-enter the recovery and start the update process it resumes from where it left but at the end of the process the validation fails, this does not happen if the size of the update is smaller, like an 300mb ota successfully updated my phone. I assume it has a timer before it stops the update.
DNS update - from system updater it finds the update but fails to download it
Proxy update - not working
Is there a way to download the files and then update?
