Anyone notice this feature missing? I always encrypt the phone to require a pin on startup and I'm pissed off that they removed this feature. This might be a deal breaker for me. It's definitely not in settings but it is on my Note 9.

Being a cop, I have way too many numbers/addresses in my phone that I would never want out there. It's a big deal to me, unfortunately.

Are you referring to the lock screen Screen Lock Type. On my note 9, every time I start up, screen times out, I use a pin to sign back on. I see that on my Note 10. If this is not what you mean direct me to what you are talking about on the Note 9, I still have my Note 9. Used the Note 8 to trade-in for the Note 10.

It's called secure start up under biometrics and security
i only see it as strong protection in s10+

I think that's different than what you could do with the Note 9.
Android has requires you to enter your pin when you restart instead of biometrics.
What seems to be missing is the pin at restart before the file system loads.

That is definitely not the same thing. The Secure Start encrypts the phone at the boot level. This allows the phone to boot to the lockscreen before requiring a pin code. Not even close to what my Note 9 does.
It's not missing they just changed it... Your phone is completely encrypted until you enter you chosen security.. that's why face and fingerprint don't work on the first sign in

The more reading I've done on this is so if you rebooted you could receive calls even if you didn't unlock the phone.
Before with secure startup you are stuck pre OS boot until you enter the password.
My only concern is if the OS is loaded even if it's encrypted could it be forensiclly bypassed easier?

Yeah that's when it was secure startup... Supposedly the is is fully encrypted when it's locked with this version of Android and on... But there's a option called "strong protection" which adds the benefit of not allowing biometrics on initial startup so someone can't kill u turn it on and use your fingerprints or the cops can't force a bio scan or emulate ur face. It also periodically goes into this mode after a few unlocks. It's been like this since the S10/+ and they shipped with the newest Android versions... The only way to get a screen before boot now is to do simcard lock.

Hi guys,
I've recently realised that after I receive a phone call, the phone automatically gets unlocked after the call has ended.
Is there any setting to prevent this?
I am so used to stuffing the phone back into my pocket and do not wish to inadvertently butt dial someone or launch apps while the phone is sitting unlocked in my pocket.
Hope you guys can help on this.
i dont know what kind a security lock you have, if its a pin it shouldn't, thinking about this, im sure i have to put my pin code to access the phone during and after a call otherwise this would be a security loophole.

Slide to unlock is pretty useless without security. It even let's you use the notification area so I doubt it would fully prevent pocket dialling.
Anyway, doesn't surprise me.

Umm, yes I know that it doesn't offer much security but I don't want to punch in a password or use the camera security each time I want to access my phone.
The lock screen doesn't automatically lock after a call without security. Power button to turn off the screen does. So after a call, turn off the screen.

Make sure you don't have any apps setup to turn the screen off, IE I used to have tasker setup to turn screen off when i set it on wireless charger, but was actually locking the device each time. I've heard others mention the same thing with other apps. So Rule that out first. Otherwise it is not 100% unfortunately.

Also something wise I just found out while experimenting is that of you are device only for gps it never works either.
Basically it is face unlock. Wait for a few seconds and you should see the lock become unlocked at the bottom

Its face unlock that sucks. Face unlock on KK you just point the device and if its good, it goes straight to your home screen. No swipes, no hands.
This version always takes a swipe even if successful and as you can see yourself, you cant direct the camera.
Talk about fixing something that isnt broken google! :crying::crying::crying:
It depends on your usage. On KK, when glancing on my phone when changing the music track with lock screen controls often unlocked my phone accidentally, so I needed to lock again. Now on Lolipop, I can change tracks without worrying to unlock.

Yes, if you are listening to music all of the time when using your phone I take your point.
I'm not against what they have done in Lollipop, I'm against the lack of choice.
Per this patch note http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/lg-v10-update/?skiptag=1 looks like Verizon will be getting marshmallow on their LG V10 beginning today. Will other carriers follow? I have reached out to T-Mobile for more information on the progress of theirs.

Experiencing the same issue here...
After a reboot I cannot unlock with fingerprint, after the initial unlock it works fine.
I know for a fact my carrier will not be getting this update. I use a regional carrier and they never push out updates, the only way I'm ever able to update my phone is if a Verizon update works on it, or a bootloader unlock becomes available and I can flash an updated ROM.

For those having fingerprint unlock troubles here, I'll simply note that in the Verizon V10 forum they've only been reporting improved fingerprint scanners. Not sure why you both are having that issue, but it by no means common, and it is unlikely that solely the update caused the problem.
This update screwed up the bluetooth again that they fixed in the little scanner update a few months back, it no longer will play music from my 2014 Chevy Silverado via mylink, it connects fine, shows the music playing, but no sound will come from the speakers
Carrier models are being updated ahead of international variant, coming from HTC I see this very oddly.

The fingerprint scanner didn't unlock consistently after the update for me, I was running Nova prime, I reverted back to the stock launcher and the issue disappeared.
the issue with the fingerprint scanner is due to nova launcher... if you remove it, it will work just fine... until nova updates, thats the only option!
Like the title says, ask me whatever you want about the 1+6. This could be useful if you are considering to buy this amazing phone!
Debating between this phone and the mi mix 2s. By all counts the OP will have better development, and the headphone jack is a plus. The mix really has style and wireless charging. But unconfirmed reports that Android pay didn't work. Does Android pay work on a stock OP? Is it seen as certified on the Google store (can I play Netflix?). I don't plan on rooting or installing an after market ROM until later in life (if OP stops supporting it). Also how does OP handle the warranty in the US? Basically there isn't one on the mi mix 2s which is a big minus.
I'm coming from a LG V20 so I debate whether or not to upgrade at all considering it has almost everything lol

Q: Does Android pay work on a stock OP?
A: Yes! Google pay works with the Oneplus 6
Q: Is it seen as certified on the Google store?
A: Sort answer, yes. I didn't have any problems with the Google play store on my device.
Q: Can I play Netflix?
A: yes, Netflix works fine on my device.
Q: How does OP handle the warranty in the US?
A: I'm not sure, I haven't looked into this yet. I'll keep you up to date if I know more information about your question. But I'm pretty sure the warranty is alright.
Some extra information:
- Don't let the 1080p screen hold you back. The screen is gorgeous and you won't see the pixels.
- Screen on time is about 4 and a half hours with average usage.
- Dash charge does what it's promised to do.
- The Oneplus 6 is for my small hands a two handed phone.
I hope I answered all your questions well!
Best regards,

Hi! I'm planning on making the OP6 my first OnePlus Device.
I also plan on getting the 6T later as well. I know that seems pointless. But I like have 2 major devices from a company for a years run..
Anyway, I know the phone is brand new and we have to see how things go, but, do you think there will be ROM support for this device? Given that it had the dual partition system (A&B style) would it be worthwhile to get the OP6 for ROMs right now?
My only want is to Root & ROM the phone. I have a LG G6 & V30, both from T-Mobile and have no dev supoort or ROMs. I like them both but I miss LineageOS and that's actually why I'm buying the OP6.
In your opinion, should I expect to see ROMs like LineageOS for OP6 or should I just wait and get the 6t.
I'm just trying to justify it to myself, especially now that the Nylon bumper case is sold out and that's the one I wanted. Ha, minor detail holding me back. Obviously I'll snag a Karbon Bumper hopefully..

Wow is that the reason they say they removed fp gestures? This didn't make sense because it's the same size as the fp sensor on the s8 and so she fp features work on those devices. So I wonder if this new sensor just doesn't support gestures or if it can be added back in from a custom rom?

First of all I must excuse me. Because I live in the Netherlands, my phone's language is set to Dutch.
First go to you security settings, then press the little settings circle. Now you should see some sort of a timer. Change this timer value to something more then 0 sec (instant lock). Ow and toggle the instant lock slider for when you press the power button

Does PIN unlock work similar to a phone? or as long as its on your wrist, it is unlocked?
I have setup Google Pay and it needs a PIN unlock, but its annoying if you have to unlock the watch whenever you want to use the watch.

I have it set up you don't have to put in the PIN everytime you look at your watch. Usually once in the morning and maybe once or twice the remainder of the day. Not sure what triggers it TBH, maybe inactivity. I was expecting it to be an annoyance it isn't that bad though.
It needs to be put in if you take off the watch and put back on
Normally only when you first wear it, but if your watch moves more freely on your hand it might think that you removed the watch so will request again the pin. Happens to me not more than once or twice during the day.

I agree whole heartedly. I came from a Galaxy Watch Active2 and a Galaxy Gear S3 Classic before that and you only had to unlock them for Samsung Pay and not to read or clear notifications, even if you didn't have them on. The lock thing is a bit of a pain, especially on a day that I don't wear my watch such as Sunday. What was Samsung thinking with this?
So I find once I've put the watch on and have unlocked, I dont need the PIN until I've taken out off then picked up.
