Best way to calibrate the battery - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hello!
So my battery drops from 96% to 67% in 30 minutes. Sometimes the phone restart at 60% and the battery drops to 5%.My camera drain the battery instantly to 0%.If my phone is charging the battery acts normaly. My questions is what is the best way to recalibrate the battery? The factory reset will fix this,or updating with huruupdater?
My phone is rooted.
Thank you!

I forgot to say that the phone randomly restart but battery % remains the same and sometimes is charging very slow

Mine was doing the same thing. You will probably need to replace the battery. I bought one on ebay for $8. I followed a youtube tutorial. You will need a hair dryer, phone tools and alot of patience.

First off, I agree with Anumunir. Replace the battery. It's a used phone. The slow charging is an indicator that the battery is old and worn out. Good batteries are cheap (Search for Anker on Amazon or eBay and that's what you want)
However, the issue with the phone jumping to 100% is adding to your problems. That's kind of normal....but it can be minimized. The problem this creates is that the phone thinks it's at 100% so it shuts off the power circuit to the battery so it stops charging. But it's not at 100%. It's at like 70%. So after you unplug, it quickly starts dropping to what the actual charge is. So it looks like it's draining fast.
Here's how you minimize this...
Frist, get the new battery..because why not?
Second, drain the battery until the phone shuts off. Restart it, plug it in, and let it charge all the way. Don't reboot. Don't mess with it. Just let it charge. When it gets to 100%, keep letting it charge more for another hour.
Third, use the phone until it drains all the way down and shuts off again. Play videos or a graphically intensve game if you need to in order to burn the battery down. Don't reboot it until you use up the battery.
Fourt, plug it in and recharge it all the way back up again. Now it should be smoothed out a bit so you don't get those big battery jumps on reboot.
Don't bother with 'battery calibration' apps or wiping battery stats that someone will repond to you thread with. They don't do anything. It's an urban myth.

Ey mate, I have the same problem. My battery is fully charged after ten hours or more. I cant afford to buy a new one, so, what did you do with yours¿?

[Q] Why do I lose 3% battery in 10 mins, then it's fine after that?

Not sure what's happening with my phone, but after removing the plug on my fully charged phone, I will let my phone sit idle for about 10 mins, when I go wake the screen, I see that I've already lost 3% of battery capacity.
The weird part is after this initial 3% is gone, my battery will drain normally. Does this mean I need to calibrate my battery? Is there anyway to do this without damaging it?
It means you need to get a new hobby... seriously, why do you care if it changes nothing what so ever. In order to fix this, you should try not checking your battery percentage every 2 minutes. On the upside, this will probably give you another half hour of battery life as well.(damn a change of attitude would fix like 90% of problems on this site)
On a more serious note, it's likely just because your phone doesn't keep charging when it hits full charge, it stops charging in order to not kill your battery, and lets it drain to like 90% at which point it will charge back up to 100%, so it may be at any point in between when you disconnect it. Even if it is truly at 100% when you disconnect the charger, the measurements may not be completely accurate when approaching 100%, so it is likely, that could make it drop faster at first. You need to do nothing in order to fix this, seriously don't mess with it.

Are you running stock or custom kernel and any custom ROM? Ive noticed this sometimes too but that's because the phone, when unplugged is running services to start phone on battery power versus the cord/wall charger. Check logcats to see what happens when phone unplugged to see what may be happening when phone starts on battery.
I think you are worrying about it a little too much. It could be searching for service (which drains a lot of battery), starting services as someone previously said, heat is horrible for a battery, anything. If the drain is normal after that who knows it could be the ROM you are on, battery percentage not being reported correctly.
Not worth an RMA by any means. Reset battery stats in recovery and see how that works out for you.
Bear in mind, these batteries are cell batteries, a user who plugs their phone in every time the battery hits 50%, is going to notice over a period of time the time it takes to go from 100% to 50% is shorter and shorter, and suddenly, 49%-0 holds a better charge. If you're constantly charging your phone, you'll wear those cells of your battery down. This is where the "hoax" of always letting your battery drain to 0% when you get it to "maximize" battery potential came from.

Strange issues after replacing the battery

I just got a battery from etradesupply and now im having some issues with charging and fast drain. The battery will charge like normal up to 100% but if i power the phone off it will start charging for another 15 mins before full. After it's full and i power up it will show 85-90%. Ive done this cycle about 5 times. The battery also drains the first 10% in about 10mins after i unplug it then it will slow down. Just strange that even with these problems the battery life is about the same if not a bit better than the old battery. Im rooted running 5.0.1. I might try a fresh factory install when i have time. Anyone have suggestions before i try that?
bump...any ideas?

I'd say try to wipe everything on your device and flash the stock factory image first and see how it goes to rule out a software issue. If it still does not help then should be the battery.

When the battery first reaches 100% it's actually not done charging yet, it takes about 30mins afterwards before the juice stops flowing. If you unplug during that time it is normal for the battery to drop to show you the true charge level. Could that be what's happening here?
Try keeping it plugged in over night and then the next day it shouldn't drop by more then 1 or 2% (trickle charge kicks in around there).

Hello,
Can you please elaborate issue?

More in depth description of the problem
I Purchased a NOTE EDGE Used about 2 weeks ago, I was told the problem was a generic battery causing the phone to overheat, I bought A New battery which somewhat solved the overheating problem however upon using the phone even with a new battery I noticed there still is significant battery drain in a short time. Also When the phone is completely off the battery still drains at a fast rate, If plugged in the battery doesn't die but charges extremely slowly even with a rapid charger and rapid charge activated. Another Issue that I have is when I remove the battery the phone will not turn back on once its back inside unless plugged in and when I connect by usb to the computer it shows connected on the phone and on the computer but in programs such as Odin it doesn't show up unless I remove and re install the battery multiple times I've done all I can think of to fix this ( bought a new battery, tried re flashing the firmware, Shut off all unused apps and turned off all data Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, dimmed the screen, battery saver etc.. ) the phone drains regardless even when phone is completely powered down.

sounds like a PCB having a problem. Maybe the charging circuit

N.m. just googled it
After I updated to 6.0.1 update on my note edge , once the battery reaches 49% it just turns off , it doesn't turn on , while I put it for recharge the battery charge shows 49% and it turns on.
I have done 3 factory resets still the problem arise. I did factory reset to clear cache and to clear any errors in apps. This is my primary phone for work and I need to carry power bank all the time. Please assist
Time to change the battery. It is not about the percentage of the battery. It is more about that the voltage breaking. As it seems the battery can not longer hold its voltage due to battery age. When the voltage breaks, the device will automatically shut down to due low voltage

From what I notice is something is wrong, mine started to act weird earlier after I updated a latest ota firmware, before when I charge its take only maybe less then a hr to full charge, I did a factory reset now its take two hr to full charge, now monitor again
My battery went to hell also after this update and I just got a new one a few months ago

the only solution i see is to stop buying original battery replacment since it might not be the issue , rather slap a zerolemon 9000 mah battery on , it looks like a tank but at least the battery last lol.
Im still having trouble with mines too, injust dont understand why phone is draining battery while off and fast . You ciuld feel the heat off the phone while off...
Maybe you should try to get an extended battery pack? here's what i tried - so far so good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i70xqUNoYVE

galaxy j7 battery problem

i think my phone has some serious problems and i'm wondering if it's the battery dying or a short circuit
when i plug it on a charger while of it shows a normal charging image but how it switches from one animation to the other so i can see the status of battery percent it's like a short on the screen happened
it chargers to 100 but when i switch it on it shows mybe 95 but never 100 and if i connect it to a charger to get to 100 it only decreases
it gets warm now days which did not happen and it like drains 50% overnight which is obviously not normal. these two days the battery life is like 4 hours with internet wich with j7's battery it should not happen. if i switch it off and then on again i loose like 20% of battery and if that is all i had i get 0% and the phone doesnt switch on. the phone never had contact with water . it's been 4 days since this started and it happened all of sudden like today my phone stays up to two days at most and i just woke up it barely finishes a day without data and with power saving mode
i'm sure it's not about background apps or any activities because i hard reset it already and i don't have any app. and it's not about wifi or sync or poor network i tried all that. i did everything it didnt help. i could buy a new battery but i'm scared it might be a short because i don't think a battery can just die in one night like this.
can anyone help me with this or it's nothing serious and i have to change the battery
