If you uninstall all the updates and disable the auto-update for the app, the problem goes away. We'll have to wait for Google to fix it. Apparently some Xperia users are having the same issue.
Not facing any issue as u said above.. just a small bug which lags playing slow mo

I had that issue but now it's OK since last Google photo update.

Same here.
It is a conflict between the default "Splendid" color gamut mode and the Google Photos app, if you disable it under Settings -> Display -> Splendid -> Color Mode:Standard (instead of Wide Color Gamut) the photos should stop doing that bright/wash out change. Annoying but a simple fix until Google updates the Photo app.

solution is:
Enabled and disabled color inversion and the issue got resolved
https://support.google.com/accessibility/android/answer/6151800
Go to Settings > Accessibility.
Select Color inversion.
Newest update fixed the problem. No need to change anything.

Now that I have Android 4.4.2 from the words coming from that developer on Google Play that states this new build has a stock option of disabling the camera shortcut but I can't find it...any ideas?

It's under security near the top of the list, but it doesn't seem to be disabling the camera shortcut on mine.
One way I found that partially disables it is to install another camera app that can be chosen as a default (e.g., Focal). Your phone would then require you to unlock the screen and choose a camera app if you access the shortcut.
Is there a way to invert colors in Nexus 5 for reading at night?? I found a few answers on google that said that if I accessibility setting there would be an option there, but there wasn't.
Also, same with grayscale, can I turn my screen into a grayscale screen, is there an app for this ??
No answer... I was just looking for this tweak and it seems there is no solution, for now.
I was thinking maybe with the Xposed framework...but I'm no geek
Might look at high contrast settings in accessibility.

Check out an app called Lux on the playstore. It is a replacement for stock auto brightness but has options for night viewing that would likely address what you are looking for.

If I freeze Google plus, and press the back button from within the camera,l app, my photos get deleted.
Any way to fix this? Seems the stock camera is looking for the Google plus photos app, which deletes the photo since the app is disable.
Thanks in advance.

Don`t think so, foto`s is part of Google+.
There's no way to fix it - they're one and the same I tried doing the same a while ago. As of now I'm just hiding Google+ in my launcher... Photos is too awesome to get rid of
Any way to remove the shortcut for photos from the stock camera app?

Delete google + off the phone and it will go away. I deleted a bunch of Google Apps that I did not want. Hangouts,Google+, amongst others. PLus if anything I would rather download and install then have installed as system app.

Thanks for the reply.
What I don't understand is how this has a different effect than disabling the app via settings.

I suppose since it is a system app and still on the phone.
OK the camera app update fixes this association between the camera and photos.

Hi,
I installed the new camera app update but didn't like it so uninstalled the updates on the Play store to get the old camera app back. Thing is, now when I take a picture and click the little preview on the top right corner to see it, it takes me to the Photos app instead of the Gallery app. This wasn't the case before I updated.
Is there any way I can set Gallery back as the default and stop previewing my pictures in Photos?
Thanks.
I'm stock, unrooted btw.
I've never used this but If you go to Settings > Apps then the menu you get "Reset app preferences" select that ( option to cancel or reset) and it says the reset includes "Default applications for actions"
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately that didn't work

I'm afraid that doesn't work either. Thanks for your help though.
Can you see Photos in settings > apps? I thought it was a component of Google+ and clearing the defaults for that may do it.
Disable Photos and Gallery is the only option.
