Inverted and Grayscale Mode in Kitkat 4.4.2 ? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to invert colors in Nexus 5 for reading at night?? I found a few answers on google that said that if I accessibility setting there would be an option there, but there wasn't.
Also, same with grayscale, can I turn my screen into a grayscale screen, is there an app for this ??

No answer... I was just looking for this tweak and it seems there is no solution, for now.
I was thinking maybe with the Xposed framework...but I'm no geek

Might look at high contrast settings in accessibility.

Check out an app called Lux on the playstore. It is a replacement for stock auto brightness but has options for night viewing that would likely address what you are looking for.

The browser has its own brightness settings. Just hit menu while the browser is open and you'll see it.

Thanks! Missed that option ha.

Just because it has its own brightness setting, doesn't mean I want to use it. I'd much rather have the option to have an independent browser brightness than be forced to manage two brightness levels now.
I have yet to find a way to turn it off though... besides just getting a new browser.

You say you'd much rather have an independent browser brightness, when that is exactly what you have already. I think what you want is one consolidated brightness for the entire phone.

Note screen "too" bright?

My XDA friends
I an a heavy data user on the Note. Especially during night time I find the notes screen to be"too" bright. And I have the brightness setting set to a minimum.
Have also tried the built in "auto brightness" feature
Do we have an app that can reduce the nighttime brightness?

I use Screen filter
One of the first apps I install when wiping/switching roms!

I'd use ''screen adjuster'' free on play store. A lot more user settings than using screen filters.
Not sent from an i phone....cos im not a fanny

Get screen filter from the Google playstore
tryying "screen filter " now, thank you all for your help
Check out rootdim to go to true minimum brightness, slightly darker than what you can normally reach. Also juicedefender has its own auto brightness function which integrates a screen filter-like dimming by shading, works nicely.

Chrome-browser brighter than Internet-browser

Why are some apps brighter than others?
When i set the brightness completely down I noticed it with chrome and internet browser but i think other apps act equal.

The bright is changing automatically, i believe.

But the "auto" checkbox is unchecked.
Is this something i have to live with or are there settings or apps wich could fix it?

have you tried other web browsers?
There is an app "screen filter" from play store. To reduce the screen brightness. Ya. Chrome is a lot brighter. it doesn't even have the inverted mode that stock browser has! (Google must be crazy!)
Check and see if you have the setting to change brightness depending on image content enabled or not (different than auto brightness).
I like the Screen Filter app. I even use a similar thing on my desktop. Bah humbug to too-bright screens.
The screen filter app is great, thanks
But the normal internet browser is still darker. If i open chrome or an other app and than open the internet browser in splitscreen the whole screen gets darker. I thought there were more apps wich are darker but i think i was wrong -> the only darker app is internet but why?
@pennycake this setting changes nothing. What does it exactly do? How can i check if it's working.

Hybrid settings (xposed)

Is there anything I can do to let me get the phablet ui . I know paranoid android doesn't have hybrid settings yet and pacman isnt officially released so is there a way ?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
The phablet ui no longer exists. Google removed it.
There were 2 things before:
Tablet/Phablet layout of SystemUI - This changed how status bar, notification drawer and navigation buttons were laid out. Google dropped the native implementation (which PA used) for kitkat. Any future implementation of this will need to be completely custom. I haven't seen that anyone has managed this yet
Tablet layout of apps - this is different. App developers may want their app to appear differently on a tablet than on a phone so they develop the app to change at a certain dpi (generally tablets have lower dpi). This still exists. It can be triggered by dropping the dpi to something that will make your eyes bleed or by using xposed+app settings module, which allows per app control of the layout using the "screen (dp)" option
Hope this helps

I think google wanted a unified experience across device types. It kind of makes sense to me. If you can use an android phone, you can use an android tablet. When I first tried a Honeycomb tablet I didn't know wtf was going on
Downgrade to jellybean.

[REQ] Xposed ? Change color of Active Display

I've been trying out different ROMs and AcDis apps, but nothing compares to the stock Active Display. One feature I liked of the AcDis-like apps was the ability to change the foreground color. Is it possible to change the stock app's foreground color with an xposed mod or app? Thanks.

I have been messing around with xblast and managed to change some of the colors. Not the clock color but some of the info you get when you press down on a notification in active display. That's a powerful xposed module.
Yeah I would love to be able to change the colors. I'm sure it could be done with xposed but I have no clue how to code. If anyone took this up it would be appreciated!
Might be able to come up with something...
Is there any way to change the active display pulsing time / duration? It's great, but the time difference between the Active display going off and coming back is six seconds for notifications, which is little too much for me.
Thanks for you help, let me know if you need anything from me. I'm on an unlocked Verizon running stock system, faux kernal, and TWRP.
