Gps problems - Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello, I have a strange problem. Every day or two gps is turning on by itself to high accuracy. I never use gps at all, have disable all options for gps and opted off all permissions for apps who can use gps but this still happens. I am running latest official eu rom. Also did not notice it before two latest updates (so mainly it started in android 9 update). Any help?

Google Maps 4.0

Has anyone tried out the new GMAPS 4.0 on their device? Has anyone got it to work when using GPS? I installed it and everytime I click on Use GPS it crashes the application. This use to happen to my old I910 with version 3.32 and not sure why.

Version 4.0 works perfect on mine and I get a quick lock on GPS. Maybe you should try reloading it.
i get a gps satellite lock inside in under thirty seconds with 4.0
I had this same issue as well. I had to revert back to v3.2.1 to use the app.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times and the same result. I also reverted back to an older version.
wow, I just got my i-920 omnia2 about 4 weeks ago and it was about 3 weeks ago I downloaded and installed google maps. it is version 3.3.0. when did they come out with version 4? the one I have works fine. takes a while to acquire satellites. I just tried out that latitude yesterday. very cool thing, but it didn't work. but the phone that I was "tracking" had latidute running then "exit". it asks if you want to still send location info and yes was selected. per google, when in this mode it sends signal based on cell tower info--does this to preserve battery life since if the gps were on constantly and sending signal if would drain it. cell tower info not as accurate. but it didn't work at all. showed essentially no movement. was going to try to leave google maps open and thus sending gps info to see if it worked that way.
oh, to original poster--didn't the i910 have gps locked so you couldn't use it except for verizon stuff?

The GPS on the I910 was unlocked. I used IGO8 as well as GOOGLE MAPS and BING.
GPS
I have the i920 and have installed the google4 with no problems. The gps was locked within one minute, didn't time it but was within 10 meters.
Just installed Google Maps 4.0 yesterday -- works AWESOME on my i920, gps lock within 30 seconds when outside. Unfortunately still no navigation like they have on the newer android devices (grr, google bastadz!) but it most certainly does not crash.
What ROM are you using, and did you uninstall the older version manually before installing the new one? Also try using SKTools' uninstaller -- that will also scan for left behind registry keys \ temp\cache files and remove them.
Well I installed the newest version which is 4.1 with the voice command and it works great.
Working great
I would make sure you have the version available for the windows 6.5. Other than that I can't think of anything that would cause this problem besides the fact you don't have the GPS turned on for both the phone and the program.

Huawei Ascend P1 - GPS Issue

A friend of mine recently bought the Ascend P1 and has been having issues with getting accurate GPS locks on it. I've double checked the location settings and everything is set right. She uses the GPS mainly in fitness apps to track her runs. In Runkeeper, the tracking is very off and the phone never seems to get a solid lock. She tried a different running app, Endomondo, just to compare and the results were similar. The route mapping is way off and overstates the runs significantly. She had no issues on her HTC Wildfire S prior to this.
All apps are up to date and the phone has been updated to the latest version pushed out by the carrier/Huawei. Any thoughts on what's happening here or if there is a setting somewhere in 4.0 that I'm not familiar with? Thanks!
try fasterfix and see if it gets better
I've got similar issues. I partially solved it by using those kinda bracelets which let you hang your phone on your arm. But anyway I guess the GPS sensor or the antenna are not really optimised.

Guys ... can anyone confirm me one thing from stock ROM 4.0.3 ICS that if you have a rooted rom and not touched the /system/etc/gpsconfig_viva.xml , then in data/gps folder , does the lto.dat exists after the gps is fixed with data on?
Huawei Ascend P1 gps proble is fixed in the jelly bean version Emotion 1.6
Only the GPS log bug still exists and needs to be rectified manually by rooting and unrooting
After the fix, it fixes extremely fast , faster than the s3
The gps bug is solved from the post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45424819&postcount=188

[Q] GPS accuracy loss after upgrade to Android 6

Greetings,
Before updating my device to Android 6, I used SmartLock so my phone would unlock automatically when I arrived at home.
After updating, SmartLock doesn't work anymore because of the GPS location, it doesn't have the accuracy needed for it. Whenever I open Maps, for instance, I need to wait for GPS get my accurate position, but if I close and then reopen it I need to do this again. I have high precision setted on my location settings.
Does anyone have experienced this?
Anyone has a clue about how to fix it?

degraded GPS with Android 6.0
Been using Speedview long term to track speed with my Nexus 5. Upgraded to 6.0 and I've discovered app no longer works. Opens with notice waiting for GPS fix. Tried another similar app, Speedometer GPS and I get the same error. Satellite locks come and then go but never stable enough to display speed as designed.
I've also been experiencing slower GPS fixes with MRA58K.

I have the same problem.. Installed Android 6 and have no GPS signal anymore..

Running latest Cataclysm now, with LMY48M bootloader/radio.
Not that I expect this will solve this issue with GPS slowness. Anyways, can't hurt to try.
thought I'm alone in this matter. sigh.

GPS Issues with new update AW v 2.7.0.178645119

My watch is having issues now with acquiring standalone GPS with standalone apps like Strava for instance.
Tried a factory reset as well, no luck. Issues were not present before update.
Anyone else having standalone GPS issues since update ?
J
i got the same when i took a jog without my phone. no gps from watch
Standalone GPS was definitely fubar'd from the latest OTA.
Just to be sure I flashed back to 1.5 and let the watch update itself to current OTA and the GPS issue was still there.
I flashed back to the May 1 2017 OTA patch and standalone GPS is back to working as it should. ( unfortunately now I just have to deal with the annoying "update" notification until the next OTA )

GPS signal issues

Is it just me, or the last beta update screwed up everyone's gps?
My phone constantly loses gps signal, even on apps, which are allowed to use it every time, like strava, which should use it, because that's how it works. Before the update I've never seen any kind of these issues. Is there a way to fix it, or just quit form the beta program and things will work fine?
Hi, i had the same issue on the last two version of oxigen os (beta 5 and last stable) so i reverted the last pie and the problem is vanished.
