Hi,
I've a few question about updating after rooting with Magisk:
- What are the steps to update? do I patch and flash the new firmware?
- Do I lose anything after the update?
- Will the bloatware I removed/disabled return (if flashing the full firmware is required)?
Thanks.

I have my Pixel (obtained from Google) rooted. I have not installed any Kernels or Roms.
I received a notification that there is an Android system update. Is is OK to install this update?
Based on your comments, I assume you are not on Verizon - if that is the case, whether you do an update or not is completely up to you - I have the GOOGLE PIXEL - am using ATT service and I am also rooted - I updated - ultimately I had to re-root - install Twrp and flash the rom I wanted to use - but beyond that - no reason not to - completely up to you. Good luck.
So, if I install the update, I will lose TWRP and root?
You never want to take an OTA update if you have a custom recovery. Can and will brick your phone. As long as you have stock recovery your more than welcome to take an OTA update.
Restored factory boot.img to boot_a and boot_b
When I try to install the update, it says "Installation Problem"
I have a rooted (SuperSU, xposed) MotoG3 with custom recovery (TWRP) running 6.0.
I just got the notification that an update is ready for my phone, which I assume is 6.0.1.
Now, I know that that OTA update is going to fail because of root & modified recovery.
What is the easiest way to update to 6.0.1, while keeping or reinstalling root, xposed and TWRP.
Can I just unroot, reflash stock recovery and update?

Click to collapse
It's just a simple security patch, not an version upgrade, it can be safely ignored. That said, if you really want it you need to be pure, unmodified stock... Restore your pre-root Nandroid or flash the current factory image with fastboot.
Hey.
I have a Google Pixel running on Oreo (8.1.0) rooted with Magisk. Earlier today i got the OTA for android Pie (9.0).
Can anyone help me out by providing steps as to what do i need to do in order to update to android 9? Do i unroot and install OTA update or simply flash the update package from the recovery?
Edit : My bootloader is unlocked (ofcourse) and i have TWRP recovery.
Thanks
Sideload the OTA file following the instructions here:
https://developers.google.com/android/ota
Keep in mind that you will lose root and TWRP. You'll have to repeat the procedure to (boot from and) install TWRP, then install Magisk, as you did before.

Hello,
Can i install latest offical TWRP on G930FXXS3ERKE and patch the kernel with no-verity ?
The Firmware has Bootloader v3 so iam not sure.
My Phone is currently on G930FXXU2ERGE with Bootloader v2 and i want to ask before i do the update.
I just need TWRP to get rid of all bloatware in /system/app and /system/priv-app.
Greetings,
Chris
If you update to V3 you won't be able back to nougat but answer for your question is: yes, you can.
I am on global rom and got an ota update.
Can I update without issues? Or will magisk or twrp cause problems?
Do I have to remove twrp and root before I update or is there any other way?
