I am looking to completely flash back to stock, recovery included in order to receive OTA updates again and hopefully update to 9.0.
I am in the US region using the H3223 variant of the Xperia XA2 Ultra, running 8.0.0 with the March 1st, 2018 security update, rooted with the bootloaded unlocked and I have used an alternate recovery on the device before (TWPR).
Would someone be able to let me know what tools I'd need to properly flash the device, and where I could locate stock recovery images, as well as clean images of the stock firmware that I can safely flash to?
Thank you.

I'm sure you probably found the answer by now, but you can go here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xa2-ultra/help/how-flash-to-stock-h3223-t3959331
Or you can try the great pie ROMs already made before you flash stock.... There is Lineage, RR, and AOKP under the development threads, just a thought.

Latest for CM11S is 05Q and Oxygen is only available through a flashable zip. So you will need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash it.
You can also wait for CM12S to come out "later this week," which should be available through an OTA.

You can use a toolkit, but I would suggest against it.
@timmaaa has an excellent thread that has been posted here which gives you literally everything you need to unlock your bootloader, install a custom recovery, etc.
If you flash Oxygen, you will not be able to OTA to 12S. However, I'm sure there will be flashable zips up the same day it comes out.

Download and flash: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4302781&d=1508010356
You should now be rooted with Magisk.
Make sure you have TWRP 3.1.x from the twrp thread

Is it really that easy? i have mine rooted with TWRP 3.1, i can flash that file and I'll have magisk? I'm on the same HW/SW version as the OP.
since the Oreo is coming out, will I need to flash stock to get the Stock Oreo update when its released? I assume so. I am new to the Mates and they seem to have a much different flash method/path than the Nexus 6p and HTC devices i have done in the past. I'm kind of leery to pursue Installing ROM's and Magisk (never used it yet) but would like to. Any tips or links to detailed instructions for the Mate flashing? I cant find, what I feel, to be detailed instructions on XDA.
thanks

If you're rooted with SuperSU or Phh you will need to restore your stock boot image before flashing Magisk,
this can be done by downloading your firmware from http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/ then extacting update.app and opening it in Huawei Update Extractor where you extract BOOT.IMG.
Flash it using fastboot flash boot boot.img.
As long as you're using firmware B182+ (Loop device support) and TWRP 3.1.x you can install official Magisk/SuperSU.
Oreo will be a full firmware so it shouldn't need to verify any partition, meaning you will only need to restore stock recovery.
alright here is newest beta (U2ZQKM)
https://files.fm/u/46nzxpg2
this updates your bootloader, so you cannot roll back if you do this.
You need to odin back to AGQL (only flash AP,CP and BL if you want to keep data), ota to QJC through stock recovery with this zip (https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1clYBB5bB55rxaGBQJ0SM195wXHqgiYCC&export=download) , then use this to ota again through stock recovery.
Between the odin and recovery flashes, do not go back into system. Boot from odin flash directly into stock recovery, then again from first ota back into stock recovery.
This is for tech savvy people only, and for snaodragon version only.

Can you update to this from anything else? If you're on a BL2 firmware you can't Odin back to older fw.

You need to be on QJC. It's super easy to get on qjc though. I didn't even wipe when flashing from oreo back to nougat.
There is a nougat with the other bootloader so you could flash back to that.
Okay, the latest att firmware (QJC) didn't upgrade bootloader but the unlocked firmware did. So if you're on unlocked youre screwed as you CANNOT go from bootloader 2 down to 1.

You mean the latest AQK2 OTA for XAA already upgraded the bootloader?

I have the International MHA-L29 version. I require the above files to flash directly after SuperSU.
On the forum all links are dead or broken.
Could someone please send me a working link of where to get them?
I'm currently on stock Nougat rom, however, wish to unlock bootloader, flash recovery, root and flash the latest Oreo rom.
However, I require the above so that I may be rooted with recovery on Oreo.
Many thanks!

Hi, I'm having a lot of trouble trying to install a custom recovery. I had it working a couple months back but wanted to go with official again for dumb reasons and now i want to go back but it won't let me flash TWRP, i can't find a TWRP specifically for this version either. It's Android 10 with March security patch.
I hope someone can help me.
Thanks.
Please only create one thread per topic. I've removed the duplicate thread you started on this topic.
As far as your issue goes, I don't actually know much about Samsung specifics, but I believe that particular message means you haven't unlocked your bootloader. You'll need to do that before you can flash custom stuff.

Like I said, I'm not 100% on Samsung shenannigans, but have you checked to verify that you didn't lock the bootloader as a part of flashing the stock firmware?

Hi ยก...
1. You have to reinstall via odin the latest version 9 (AP, BL...etc)
2. On reboot do the entire TWPR flashing process for android 9
The current problem is that there is no TWPR for android 10.
Cheers
