Firmware update China vs Global(firmware only) - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Guides, News, & Discussion

What's the difference of Global vs China firmware(only)?
I flashed Chinese and works as expected, China's firmware seems to be of newer version compared to global
Source: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com

No one knows? hmmm

Hey,
Yeah the Chinese version is mostly newer 1-2 versions.
The differences:
Only Chinese and English language.
Google services aren't included.
Some bloatware/alternatives apps for the Chinese market are pre installed.
Xi voice assist as default voice assistant (only in Chinese language)
Some minor things I forgot. But that's it.

Well as said "firmware" only, so what language or google services are you talking about? ..I'm running LineageOS. Again "FIRMWARE" only update
P.S. I guess no one knows in XDA Community as I've seen no real replies, people read this and move away as they actually can't reply to this. MIUI International vs Chinese sure, easy to spot or guess the differences but Global vs Chinese firmware? ..firmware is for the proper function of the cell phone, bluetooth, proximity sensor, wifi etc. Why there is Global and Chinese version is my question, should be just 1 version of firmware?

Really don't think there is any difference in the firmware. They include firmware with every rom and there is no hardware difference so no reason it would be different.

I would agree with you although there is global firmware and Chinese firmware and Chinese always is ahead in version
P.S. So if u flash MIUI global would have older firmware compare to Chinese MIUI. Wonder why they don't use the same firmware as the firmware shouldn't be language related
P.S.2 Just flashed latest v9.8.22 Chinese firmware on my latest LineageOS, everything is good

Now I'm on 9.9.3(China), everything works just fine in LineageOS

Hi, I know that this is old, but have you checked if you had LTE B20 working on Chinese firmware? I'm also wondering if update would bring any benefits

I hope some one can translate it in to English. I got it today on my Chinese import 703L
The most significant update in there is the latest patch from Google which I think is the stage fright patch.

Is it possible to Sitch from Chine ROM to European ROM?

Hello,
I've buy an imported Huawei Mate 9, wich runs a Chinese ROM
I can switch to my native tongue (French), but some apps, especially Huawei apps, have chinese option. Furthermore the dialer with Yellow Page is kinda boring.
I've read some article saying that Google Apps may not work on Chine ROM
It's also seems that 4G is slower than with my Huawei Mate 8 in European or International ROM
Is there a way to switch to a European ROM? if it's possible how to do it?
Cordially
Right now, without unlocking the bootloader, it IS possible to install European build 115 (somewhat older build). But it has many, many bugs because the device doesn't match the firmware. I wouldn't recommend doing it.

You think it will be possible in a near future to have an European Build without bugs?
Thanks for the answer
But here is no way to install an Update manuelly On Mate 9

Global ROM? UK usage

Hi all.
I know the 8th November Xiaomi UK launch is rumoured to include the Mi Mix 3, but I'm not confident that it will. Besides, if it does it will probably be priced in line with other handsets oof similar spec in the UK.
I'm thinking of buying one from a Chinese source such as AliExpress or Gearbest, but I'm now questioning if I'll be able to load a global ROM on it or not?
This article states that phones pre installed with Chinese ROM cannot have Global installed: https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/09/...-miui-china-rom-no-longer-support-global-rom/
Does anyone know if this is the case? When I got my original MIX I was able to flash Global with no problems.
Thanks,
Dom
You can flash a global rom on a China device, but you can't relock bootloader
Ok thanks... So if you can't re-lock the bootloader, I guess apps like Google Pay won't work?

Sorry for the double post.
Do you have any detail about that? Or a source?
My original Mix 1 bootloader was unlocked, Global flashed, and then re-locked.
Has this changed recently?
Thanks

Thanks for your help. I believe the UK release is rumoured to be the Mi 8 Explorer. So I will probably order a CN Mix 3 and hope that the China ROM is fully compatible with the UK after GAPPS are installed.
I don't think UK apps such as google pay, and most mobile banking apps, will work if the bootloader is unlocked. But I may be wrong. Anyone know?

I also have an unlocked bootloader on my Mi Mix and have no issues with Banking apps (when using Magisk).

This and maybe EU rom out soon, tomorrow global without unlock if you believe the rumors
You guys think there's going to be major hardware differences with the new Global 5g version coming out in 2019 (besides the 5g capability of course) ?OR the rest of the specs should be the same? I'm not sure on ordering one now or wait for the global one to be released. But I'm assuming that the 5g should be more expensive.

I have the mi mix 3 Chinese version 256gb.. Love the phone but I can't get Google Assistant to work. I read in another post that we have to root the phone but I think the Global version will have it all preinstalled and allow the Xiaoai button to control OK Google... This is honestly the only thing I'm waiting for assuming we're able to flash the Global rom on top of the Chinese one...

I've done quite a bit of research into this. It's not a simple process as for example Xiaomi.
It will involve resizing the system partition among other partitions.

No sorry, this was a tangent regarding the RMX2075 (UK) getting the RMX2076EU update which was posted on the UK site.
Probably they just named it wrong. Sorry, I don't have the RMX2017 (CN) (but isn't it 2071 lol).
Just as an interest, what's wrong with the CN version?

As per my first analysis, RM2071 (CN) did not bring the majority of the languages (in my case, I need PT), just CN, EN and other two or three asian languages. It does not have Google Play store although it is possible to install it separatedly.
Finally there are many CN apps that comes together and when using EN, some untranslated texts in CN are still appearing in many screens.

Disappointed with Chinese Rom
I also own a RMX2071 version.
To be honest I'm disappointed as my expectations with this phone were too high.
Here are my remarks:
Breeno is only in Chinese and you cannot download EU voices,
Global search is only retrieving Chinese news,
Impossible to fully replace Breeno with Google Assistant (shortcut will still launch Breeno instead of GA, GA will not produce notification sound when activated...)
Some software and some rare options are not translated in my language (I set the FR language and still Chinese texte)
Security check is done for all app you are downloading from Google store (which leads sometimes to Play Store crash)
Google Chrome is freezing from time to time
I need to switch mobile data off and on to get back internet (specially after leaving the phone locked for a while).
I need to switch mobile data off and on right after a call or I'll not be able to get Internet...
Regards

This phone is the China rom with Google features. It is a Xiaomi.eu rom, at least mine was. Since this phone comes pre-rooted with an unlocked bootloader, I installed TWRP and flashed the latest version of MIUI 12 from the Xiaomi.eu website. The roms there are based of the Chinese roms, minus the Chinese bloat and with Google features added in. Remember, the EEA or Global version actually supports different bands than the Chinese version. Being in the US and a T-Mobile user, I need bands 2,4,5,&12 which are not supported in the EEA version, but I need the Google services, so flashing the Xiaomi.eu rom gives me the best of both worlds.

It’s not the xiaomi.eu , it’s as I said in my previous comment. If you check the included bands, i have the same bands as the global version. The Chinese version has less etc...
The issue is Xiaomi Mi 10 is a runaway success so all the resources have gone on this version. The mi 10 pro has not had the same amount of love. Even the Chinese version hadn’t had much love. You can check this on the official mi forums.

Hong Kong is where mine was imported from (Giztop). There are only to versions of this phone. Either the Chinese version or EEA/Global version and they are priced differently too. There's a very limited number of roms this device can run. There's stock EEA/Global or Chinese and then there's the modified MIUI roms from Xiaomi.eu and MIUIMIX, which uses the Xiaomi.eu as it's base. The Xiaomi.eu rom uses stock Chinese as it's base. The stock China rom also has Google services built in. One merely needs to go the Xiaomi store and download Google Play and any other APK and Gapps you wish. But to verify which rom you are actually running, go to <settings> and then <my device>. If you are running the China rom with Gapps added, updater may have been disabled by the company so not overwrite Gapps and reinstall Chinese bloat when updated.

That' s my thought. I also got someone who works in the industry in a senior position to check for me, and nothing came back as an issue.
Even looking on Xiaomi.eu list of roms there is no firmware matching this. Looking on Xiaomi's official forums, there has not been an update on the global either. Plus the website that scanes firmware updates isn't reporting anything.
If Wonda sold me the non global, I will go back to them, and also raise a PayPal claim against them, but I specifically asked them was this a chinese version with flashed eu firwmare, with the bootloader unlocked etc and they said not.
In fact this is what Wondamobile said to me "
100% global version from Hong Kong, not one with a bootloader unlocked and flashed."
Yes I agree. I have bought several phones from them in the past and found them to be reliable.
Our firmware number matches the one on xiaomi's site. It is just that letter 'A' that is different.
Looks like other versions have a higher number so hopefully we should see an update soon.

Fingers crossed. I have just sent an email to Xiaomi Customer service in HK, so hopefully they will confirm that the firmware is ok, and also when the next update is due. I also asked them for an ETA on MIUI 12 for the handset.

I will only be concerned once I see the 'global' version on xiaomi's site have a higher number and I receive no updates on my phone.
Yes, it is disappointing that they announced that the 9 would get MIUI 12 before the 10! I suspect they will give you a vague answer but you never know.

I noticed the Mi 10 (non pro) has a firmware number as you said pretty much identical to ours except for one letter.
Even if I get a vague reply, that's all I need for now. If the phone doesnt get the OTA for the new firmware when it arrives, then like you I will be concerned. I am not into flashing phones etc.

The page I am looking at seems to apply to both Pro and non-pro...see attached.
I guess you mean it says just Mi 10 under the ROM itself, but it includes Pro in the title. Confusing!
