Am I the only one with stock 4.4.2 whose camera freezes?
I've been battling the problem that if I use the camera on the Nexus 5 it will sometimes freeze the phone. It may happen after a variable amount of pictures are taken. Suddenly the phone freezes and only a reboot will get it back to normal. I've asked in this forum without success and then found this

Any solutions anyone?

What's your phone setup? Are you rooted with a custom ROM?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Rooted, stock 4.4.2 ROM.
Nova prime launcher.
No syncing on anything.
Use xprivacy, AFWall+, gravitybox. (but all 3 disabled with no improvement).
Camera is essentially unusable because of need to reboot every few pictures. Screenshots in my other thread.

dont disable the exposed, delete it(remove everything xposed completely), reboot, then try your camera
I would hate to do that because I really like xposed. But I'll make a nandroid backup, and then do as you say. If it's no better, I could always restore the nandroid. But nobody else has noticed any connection between xposed and Google camera. I "believe" the problems started when I updated to the latest camera update. Wish I could find the pre update camera app.

xposed causes many many random issues that are undocumented. for many not a single issue, for others its like a phone full of gremlins.
Well, tis done. I'll see if the camera behaves. It takes time for it to act up....
Fwiw, I've used xposed for quite a while and the camera freezing only started about 4-6 weeks ago. Maybe it was a recent update.
I uninstalled xposed. Where should I look for files to delete to ensure a good test?

honestly, i dont know. i have never needed or been willing to use xposed. an uninstall and a reboot should be fine(dirty flashing your rom again would be best, but i think it will be fine without). just give it some time to test. if its not xposed, restore your backup and we will look further.
I'm afraid to say anything, but I think uninstalling Xposed did it. Will wait longer before breathing a sigh.....
Thank you.
Has anybody tried the xposed framework? Phone is rooted and I want to use the "keep notifications" feature which requires xposed. I have read the xposed threads and it seems like its very unstable n had loads of bugs and can also almost brick the phone. Has any body tried greenify with xposed? Has anybody installed xposed successfully on moto g?Are there any problems on moto g due to xposed?
Thanks guys for the help. I did install and activate it and rebooted. I activated the greenify module and rebooted again. Then I turned on the "keep notiifcations" feature in greenify and rebooted yet again. Now another problem quietly bombarded upon my face. I am simply not getting any notification for the hibernated apps. For example, let's take the Facebook's messenger app. It is hibernated. I asked my friend to send me a message just to see if I got any notification. I simply didn't. Any solutions to this?
Noo... nothing like that u cn use....i m using it...also have more modules too..nvr had any problm.

Xposed gets unstable if you use lots of modules and especially some exotic ones.Otherwise you wont even notice that it's there.
I concur. Used Xposed with the GravityBox and BootManager modules for several months on my previous phone and never had any problem. I guess you could get bugs if you activate different modules that perform the same modifications, though. They might conflict with one another, I guess.

Yes : uninstall Greenify
I never noticed any real difference in battery life.
I am seriously considering giving up on greenify for a while and see if it goes well, maybe back to use ART in this case for uninstalling xposed. I feel the battery impact is not that huge at all.

Guys, I don't use Greenify for saving battery, I use it for getting some free RAM. These apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, Messenger, etc always keep running in the background and hog memory and impact game performance. Also, when these apps receive messages and a notification comes up, the running game lags for some seconds badly. One solution is turning the wifi off. But still, these apps do try to connect when running in the background and thus they do have some sort of activity going on. Also, they eat RAM and depriving the game of memory and thus slowing it down.

In that case simply enable "GCM Push notifications" on experimental features, all the pushes that come within GCM will work properly - well, quite properly since it lags the notifications a bit on my end.

That solved my problem. Thanks.
A couple of weeks ago I started getting error popups, always at least two (dismiss the first then the same exact error pops up again) in a row, then usually a short pause followed by another two popups. It seems to mainly happen when I start on the move, particularily when driving, but then after the first one, or two sets, it won't happen again for a while. Every now and then it will happen at home when I'm on WiFi, but it's less than once a day that I see that. In case you can't see my sig, I'm running stock Kitkat 4.4.4 with Xposed & Gravitybox.
Steps I've taken to try to resolve this is, freezing various apps that I'd recently updated right before this started, installing both older and newer versions of Google Play Services (currently have 6.1.83), updated Google Play Store (5.0.32), cleared the data and cache of Google Play Store, uninstalled GPS updates (4.8.20), and updated to the latest Franco kernel version (r63).
Still the errors come up. Anything else I can try short of a factory reset? I'd rather not have to do that right before Lollipop, when I'll just be flashing over it again anyway.
the very first thing that you should have tried is completely remove xposed and anything that has to do with xposed. whenever you have an issue, and xposed installed, you cant really check anything else without removing xposed completely. xposed comes with many undocumented issues, it can break just about anything. so, if you have an issue, the very first thing is remove xposed.
I thought about that, but absolutely nothing was changed before the issue and after the issue. Earlier today I updated Gravitybox and a couple of other modules, but that didn't solve the issue. I suppose I'll try completely removing it, although I doubt that will fix anything since as I said, nothing in my Xposed framework had changed when I started having this issue.
Edit: Well slap my mouth and call me Sally. It's definitley an Xposed issue. Now I just need to narrow it down to which module is causing the problem. Thankfully it's not GB.
Thanks, simms22. I guess some change on a Google Services side must have had an issue with one or more of my installed modules. If I had to guess it is probably the "Disable Location Consent" module.
Simply reflash stock 4.4.4. Should end the issue. A fresh start. ?

My phone is rooted and has Xposed, Snapprefs, and Snapchat 9.21.1.0 installed. When I tap on the Snapchat icon, my phone hangs for a few minutes. It doesn't respond to any of my touches/button presses. On top of that, Snapchat usually just ends up not loading, and then my phone will crash and restart within a minute of being "usable" again. Is there any way to fix this? This does not happen if Snapprefs is uninstalled/disabled. I logged into Snapchat before installing Xposed, and I have RootCloak installed, with Snapchat in the apps, and "Snapprefs","Snapprefs.apk","XposedBridge" and "Xposedbridge.jar" in the keywords in RootCloak.

Which Xposed framework version do you have installed on your device along with Xposed Installer?
Does Xposed Installer say that the framework is active (in green text)?

It's not an issue with Xposed as far as I know. Every other module that I have installed works fine. I have version 81, and it's active.
The issue is with Snappprefs. After uninstalling it, I was able to use snapchat just fine again. Seems there's some bug with it :/
Also, do you also have issues with Snapchat camera going dark when recording videos, and the front camera being way too dark compared to the normal camera app?

Sorry, I didn't realize there was a response. I don't/didn't have any other issues with Snapchat other than the Snapprefs issue
My pixel 2 is on Dec update and has magisk. On fully charged phone, after a restart I get a handful of messages (same apps every time) saying, "App has stopped", "send feedback". DI.FM Radio is one such app that always stops. No idea what's causing these 4 or 5 apps to always "stop" after a restart.
Another odd behavior is background data sync seems to stop working---google, aquamail, sharptools, pushover. I have to open the app to get it to sync (and then see its notifications).
Not sure these two things are related. I've checked: Battery optimization, account setup (syncing), battery saver mode (off). Will uninstall Greenify and related Magisk Greenify module----just to test. Would hate to have to factory reset...just wondering if anyone else has had similar observations.
Sounds like it's greenify. Disable/uninstall it. If that's not it disable/uninstall any and all modules in magisk and see. After that I would just factory reset if it was me.
