A couple of weeks ago I started getting error popups, always at least two (dismiss the first then the same exact error pops up again) in a row, then usually a short pause followed by another two popups. It seems to mainly happen when I start on the move, particularily when driving, but then after the first one, or two sets, it won't happen again for a while. Every now and then it will happen at home when I'm on WiFi, but it's less than once a day that I see that. In case you can't see my sig, I'm running stock Kitkat 4.4.4 with Xposed & Gravitybox.
Steps I've taken to try to resolve this is, freezing various apps that I'd recently updated right before this started, installing both older and newer versions of Google Play Services (currently have 6.1.83), updated Google Play Store (5.0.32), cleared the data and cache of Google Play Store, uninstalled GPS updates (4.8.20), and updated to the latest Franco kernel version (r63).
Still the errors come up. Anything else I can try short of a factory reset? I'd rather not have to do that right before Lollipop, when I'll just be flashing over it again anyway.
the very first thing that you should have tried is completely remove xposed and anything that has to do with xposed. whenever you have an issue, and xposed installed, you cant really check anything else without removing xposed completely. xposed comes with many undocumented issues, it can break just about anything. so, if you have an issue, the very first thing is remove xposed.
I thought about that, but absolutely nothing was changed before the issue and after the issue. Earlier today I updated Gravitybox and a couple of other modules, but that didn't solve the issue. I suppose I'll try completely removing it, although I doubt that will fix anything since as I said, nothing in my Xposed framework had changed when I started having this issue.
Edit: Well slap my mouth and call me Sally. It's definitley an Xposed issue. Now I just need to narrow it down to which module is causing the problem. Thankfully it's not GB.
Thanks, simms22. I guess some change on a Google Services side must have had an issue with one or more of my installed modules. If I had to guess it is probably the "Disable Location Consent" module.
Simply reflash stock 4.4.4. Should end the issue. A fresh start. ?

Lately my Nexus 5 has been having some issues. I first started noticing this when I'd get artifacts popping up while on chrome. Then during reboot, play services would crash, and sometimes the launcher would refuse to start. Then other apps like Hangouts would refuse to let me view messages without a app crash. Even 3rd party apps have crashed on me.
I've done a full wipe and put stock 4.4.2, three different times now and within a day I get the same symptoms all over again.
This has been going on for over a week, I have absolutely no idea what to do now.
Any ideas? Is perhaps the storage bad? Any way to test it? Or what should I do.
Thanks
Flash clean stock and don't install a single app for those few days and see what happens.
If nothing, install just a few apps at a time per day. If it suddenly starts....you'll know its one of the few apps you just installed.
That's all I got. Lol

Are you flashing a custom kernel with it? Are you undervolting at all, running art? I specifically ask for undervolting, cause that will cause things to crash | reboot.
No, no custom kernel. Everything I got was from googles factory image site. https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/hammerhead-kot49h-factory-02006b99.tgz
And I've never undervolted before. I could root and perhaps increase the clock speed. Also not running ART. I did a few months ago, but switched back.

Well aside from rooting, best you can do is force stop all those apps, particularly the ones that are crashing specifically, then clear those caches from the menu. After you've done all your problem apps, reboot.
If he did a full wipe and installed a fresh stock image....caches aren't the issue. Its probably one app wreaking havoc. Lol
This morning I came into work and as I unlocked my phone it did NOT ask me for my pattern. I have a number of Xposed modules working, but none have been activated in the meantime of this happening. When I go to Security, my last option is still set, yet I'm not asked to enter any of the option whens unlocking the screen.
Anyone had anything like this happen? I really don't believe I've changed any settings between the security working and not working. This is very troublesome. I'll do a complete reinstall of everything if I have to, but I wanted to see if anyone has heard of this in the meantime.

Never happened here. Try to uninstall Xposed Framework then reboot and try again.

It's somewhere in the Xposed modules. When I uninstalled the framework, it asked right away for my PIN. I'll go back and see which module is giving me the problem. So far I have installed:
Blurred System UI
Burnt Toast
Chrome New Tab (Xposed)
Complete Action Plus
Gravity Box KK
Notification Count
Shaky
Shortcut in App Info
Unicon
YouTube AdAway
I know I changed a setting (I think in Gravity Box) that makes the lockscreen always require the slider. Then it would ask me for my security PIN or Pattern. But I've had then running for a few weeks now. Blurred System UI is a newer mod for me and I was trying out a Translucent mod for KK as well yesterday, but I uninstalled that.
We'll see. Might even go to the L Preview for a while. It worked great for me, but I missed the Xposed additions.
Thanks for the advice. Good call.

It seems it was Shaky that was causing the issue. I've uninstalled it and won't go back since I don't use it much.

It mainly happens when I reboot the phone. "Google play services has stopped working" followed by "com.google.process.location has stopped working", sometimes twice in a row. It's been happening for a couple of days now. The only adverse effect I've noticed, besides it being annoying and frustrating, is that my zooper weather widget hasn't updated in two days. I've even tried to force update it. I tried a websearch and it only turned up a gapps error message. Has this been happening to anyone else or might anyone have some insight as to what is causing the problem?
Try to clear data and cache on google play service.
If it still heppens, reflash your GApps

Clearing app data won't change anything. I fixed it with a clean flash.
"Are you rooted? If so are you using xposed with the Disable Location Consent module? The new Play Services update is causing a conflict with that module; try disabling it and see if that resolves the issue. If that's the culprit you should be fine without the module, there's now a checkbox to no longer show a prompt when switching between Location modes."
I found this solution on reddit.
@Penetrator18 : thanks for the tip mate, it solved my problem
So basically, only when I'm in the Chrome app (not the beta, just stock chrome), when I hit the home button and come to my home screen, it's blank for a second or two, and then my apps / folders pop up. This shouldn't happen and hasn't happened to me until recently. It's almost as if i'm using too much RAM, but i know for sure I'm not as I've tested it with chrome being the only app even running. I don't think chrome is leaking 2 gb of ram...
Some info- this is on my nexus 5, rooted but stock rom with xposed. No xposed modules related to chrome, chrome is not greenified or anything, so i'm not sure where the problem is. I've reset all the default on ://chrome/flags so i'm not allowing it to use too much RAM. Can anyone think of why this is happening? I can provide more info if needed, just ask.

first things first. xposed comes with a countless amount of undocumented issues. before doing anything else to try and fix your issue, get rid of xposed, completely. if that doesnt fix your issue, we will try other things. if you dont try removing xposed. then theres no point to try anything else.

Simms is right. What I would recommend personally is having MultiROM installed and having one ROM on ART without exposed and another ROM with every XPosed module known to man and several species of Monkey. ?
Over time your device may seem fine but XPosed starts slowly corrupting the integrity of the ROM have no idea how. You'll get random force closes, weird audio bugs, force reboots, screen of deaths, and random lag spikes from my experience. You'll run every cleaner in the book, you'll clear cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions but it won't help. You've been struck by a smooth criminal, ahem. XPosed.
I'm currently with the latest version. I rooted my Z5 about a month after buying it and some weeks later I installed Xposed on it. Since then I have experienced these problems:
- On the YouTube app I can't watch any videos after watching a certain quantity of them (I haven't done the experiments to know what that quantity is). The only solution is to restart the phone.
- Similar to the previous problem, the fingerprint scanner stops working after some uses. Or maybe it's after a certain time, since once I experimented using it continuously until it stopped working but I stopped at about 30 uses because it was still working. It says the hardware isn't working, or something like that. Again, the solution is to restart the phone.
- The last (maybe) problem is probably related to Xposed or root. When going to the settings and trying to see the apps section, it takes tooo long to load. I do have a big amount of apps, but I feel like it's just to much. The worst part is that when I directly go to an app's settings (without going through the phone's settings and all) it is very slow, like it was loading all apps again
So, do any of these problems have solutions? Or does it only happen to me?
Oh, and I need to address this:
Is there a way to hide the headphone notification? I hate it and hate the fact that Sony put it there just because yes and with no option to disable it.

You can do it with the xosed module GravityBox.
