Galaxy Watch and OnePlus 7pro Samsung Health constantly running. - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Coming here to the great minds of xda for some help. I've been searching for a few days to see if anyone has this problem but have come up short.
I have a Galaxy Watch lte connected to my OnePlus 7pro. I have it paired and have gear manager installed, which also asks me to install Samsung pay and Samsung Health.
Pay is fine. Health however is always running despite all tracking being done on my watch only. Also I will mention that I have denied all permissions to Samsung Health and restricted background data.
You can see from the screenshot that it's been running since I unplugged my phone this morning.
Not sure what else to do to keep it from eating away at my battery without uninstalling it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm experiencing the same issue. What I did few hours ago, was to remove the app and installed it again, granting the minimum essential permissions to run. So far so good, but more time is needed to confirm it has been fixed.

I uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times and didn't grant any permissions. Seems to have helped. I've been on battery for 5 hours and Samsung health had only been active for 30 minutes. I hope it stays like this

I've got the same model. You have better luck than I do!

Well apparently even with background use restricted it ran for 11 minutes in the background. Wtf is wrong with this app???

Can't turn on Notifications

I don't know how many of you have the Gear 2 along with a ton of apps/games (600+) on your Note 3, but any time I select "notifications" from within the Gear Manager with the Gear 2 it instantly freezes/crashes...giving me an error of "Unfortunately, Gear 2 plugin has stopped."
So I get NO notifications on the Gear 2 like I do on my Gear 1. After speaking with Samsung tech support 3 times it has been confirmed that this seems to basically be a memory issue (which I actually experienced with the Gear 1 as well until a Gear Manager update came out that helped).
In addition to the new gear being Tizen based and not having Android apps like Watch Styler (which causes me to lose over 100+ Gear 1 watch faces), I have also been extremely frustrated with the way the devices connect to your phone. Once connecting the Gear 2, going back to re-connect the Gear 1 is a true pain in the ass! The Gear Manager will constantly have to restore/re-install it's software every time you go back and forth between the two devices. When the Gear 1 finally does re-connects, which has sometimes taken over an hour to do, you'll not only find your watch battery drained but also some of your settings in the GM have been lost for your Gear 1. It's almost like Sammy didn't expect any of the Gear 1 owner to buy the Gear 2 so they hardly tested the two of them working well together.
So in short, with no notifications, no Watch Styler faces, no more camera shortcuts, no more hourly chimes, connection issues, and the WatchOn app that claims not to work with my Comcast cable box (when the same app works perfectly on my Note 3 and Note 10.1 with all my Comcast boxes) says to me that this $300 paperweight might be returned to the store soon for a full refund!
Buyers beware!...
P.S. - If anyone has a fix for the "crashing notifications" problem please let me know (and I've repeatedly tried clearing cache & data for GM with no luck). If nothing else, I need that at least to be working or this device is pretty much useless to me. Thanks.
When was the release date? 7 days ago...
What exactly did you expect? Give developers a little bit more time lol
There are also availability problems
I have absolutely no problems connecting the gear to my note 2 and everything works fine
For your Note 3 problem

I know this device was just recently released, however, I currently have 8 Android devices (5 of them Samsung) and I am very used to new tech ALWAYS having a bug or 2 when released. But not being able to properly connect a device "that has to be connected to even boot up initially" or not getting any notifications/communications at all on a smart watch is really unacceptable IMO because this is part of the watch's main functionality! If it doesn't connect or communicate messages at launch then how useful is it at $300. Having been a beta tester years ago, this product just doesn't seem to be very well tested to have such major problems right out of the box.
I've heard that an update might have been released today. I'm hoping that this info is true and that it addresses at least these major issues. I can then wait for the other fixes to come down the line later. By the way, thanks for the link! It doesn't really fix my problem with re-connecting the Gear 1 from the Gear 2 or the notifications issue, but interesting nonetheless.
I have the exact same problem ! The only way I got it to work was factory reset of note 3 then install Gear Manager and setup your notifications. But after a while the problem returns.
I'm hoping Samsung can fix this. I thought it may have been issue with the Omega ROM I installed on Note3 but it appears to be a prob on any ROM.

Gear Manager 5 Sep update

All,
The 5 September update of Gear Manager caused my watch to continuously disconnect from my Note 3.
The only thing I could do was factory reset the Gear 2 and reconnect. However, restoring the backup failed as the progress indicator remained at 100% and never continued. The last resort was a full wipe and start from scratch reinstalling all the apps.
Gear Manager settings show that an old backup is still present but it is greyed out.
Anyone else had this problem?

I'm runing tizen mod 3.0 and my galaxy s4 running hyperdrive RLS 18.1. I am having the same issues but cannot figure out of its eithe rof my roms on the phone or watch. i did notice that this disconnect issue did not occur when I had the stock factory image on my gear 2. I thought it might be the roms. But now that you mention it, it may be the latest update with gear manager.
I'm hoping some savy developer or someone with more expertise on the issue can shed some light on this issue.

Thanks for the heads up. I was able to pull the old gear Manager apk file and did 4 factory resets on my watch and my phone to get the thing up and running again. Can't believe samsung would update the gear Manager and not do extensive testing if people are already complaining of it breaking gear 2 connection. [emoji19]

Any chance you could post the old gear manager apk?
I have TizenMod 3.0 and Saproviders stops, I can't get notifications on the gear anymore... Samsung is really making me lose patience :/
Edit : all due to today's upgrade.
Same here. Anyone else know if we can deactivate the automatic updating? I did my bi-weekly CWM backup just last night (lucky!) so I have no problem restoring but as soon as I reboot the damn thing automatically updates! I want to pull the sim out, do a restore, deactivate the auto-update function and just leave it as it is until there is a fix. I would try restoring from Titanium but there are like 9 additional apps that it either installs or updates after the new Gear Manager installs!
This may be late for some of you but this is how I get around the problems...
1) Before you update the gear manager app, make a backup of the gear manager apps with titanium backup. (all the apps associated with gear manager will have the same gear logo)
2) Then open the app and update the software
3) Once complete, confirm that your Gear watch is connecting and receiving notifications. (The easiest way to do that is send yourself a text message)
4) If your watch is not working correctly or not connecting to the phone, then go back into titanium backup and restore the Gear Manager app back to the backup you made in step 1.
5) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until it works.
I personally had to do this twice before it connected and I received notifications. For future updates this is the only way I would do it because it is such a glitchy application and I'm tired of factory resetting my Gear and re-installing everything multiple times.
I hope this helps someone!
Strangely enough this update worked fine for me. It was the previous update that messed all up here..

So you used ODIN to revert to stock, rooted by normal means and then updated the Gear Manager and it worked fine afterwards?
I flashed stock with Odin and left it that way after the problems with the previous gear manager update. Before that I just ran stock rooted, no custom rom. The only reason I rooted was to remove the camera sound, but I don't use the camera that much on the gear.

I'm thinking that this new Gear Manager update checks the watch for root access and won't let it connect. That's just my first impression anyway.
I removed root from my watch but kept TizenMod, re-paired the watch and it connected without a hitch.
I don't think root is the problem because most of the comments are negative and I doubt most people have their Gear rooted. I think it's a software issue because even before root was available there were plenty of people having issues with connecting and the software has not improved much since then.

If it's an app I really like and support then I'll make a positive comment but I do also make negative comments as well. Root may cause some issues but before I had root I still had trouble with the app and had to factory reset multiple times just to get it to connect. I'm rooted and it still took me 2 times of trying to update to get it to work correctly. I think overall, Samsung did not spend enough time developing before releasing the Gear and Gear Manager. They're too busy pushing out a new phone every year and a new watch every 6 months.

Agreed. This is definitely a poor job on Samsung. They did this **** just before the release of the Gear S? What a way to win hearts and minds. Think Apple will have these issues? I mean damn... the developers on this forum don't even have fails this big! When they notice that something that they developed doesn't work as expected they pull the link, fix the problem, TEST IT and then release it almost immediately. This is neglect.

Yet Another Battery Drain Issue

Hey guys,
I am having battery drain issue on my Galaxy S6 since some time and I started to try to fix it. My SGS6 is not rooted or with any customization.
Well the first thing I did is completely factory reset the phone, including going to recover and cleaning the cache and data partition. After that, I just started the system and let it update itself. It seems fixed (going to deep sleep) for a part of the time, but right after it started to avoid deep sleeping at all (I just installed whatsapp).
Of course, I uninstalled whatsapp to check but is not related. After looking around I disabled the Google Play Services and it seems to be fixed now, but the issue is, there is nothing installed on the phone besides bloatware and the system itself. I disabled most of google and samsung apps besides sms, gallery, etc and the wakelock still exists if I enable google play services...
I am avoiding rooting or changing the system as I want to keep my knox flag clean to use android pay and other nfc payments, but without root I dont know how to search for wakelocks without the help of BBS or similar apps.

No! It has a method for non-root phones and requires administrative access which is absolutely safe as the developer is very professional! It force closes apps and keeps them in force closed state and eats no battery!
Package Disabler Pro lets u disable the useless apps on the S6 without root!
Btw my S6 is not rooted as well and these work fine for me!

I went to google store after reading here about these apps, it is said on the store "need rooted device" so there were my comments..
Hello guys,
Thanks for your input. After a long section of try and errors, trying to find each app and wakelock which was preventing my system to go into deep sleep, I gave up and rooted it (KNOX tripped, bye bye payment with nfc :crying.
Unfortunately, even after installing the custom roms utilized here I still suffering from something preventing deep sleep even without installing anything besides BBS (Wipe, clean install, BBS, wait 30~ minutes and check BBS). I really don't know which kind of configuration is preventing my phone from going to deep sleep.
I hope I can fix it at least, because if not, I just rooted my phone without any worth to me. I miss when I got this phone and it had about 5h SOT everyday even with wifi, music, and anything.
Hi man
Hope this is any help.
Had battery drain aswell and still I'm searching but for me I come closer to the drainer.
I was a little frustrated but I came to the conclusion that cell standbye and android o s where the biggest consumers.
This morning I totally loaded the battery till it was full.
Around 7 I turned on flight mode and turned off WiFi and mobile network.
Now it's 12.37 and the battery is half drained so still 50% and 5.29 ours of battery life left. Note that my s6 is just laying in de room. So no usage by anyone.
I am not satticefied but I know now that constantly searching or automatically searching for network was one of the problems and due cell standby who is connected to that options. Well, automatic network searching can be stopt.
A littke bit closer tot the answers but tonight i will do the same. Full battery, Flight mode on, mobile network of andere wifi on tot zee what happend without usage from me.
No about android o s. This was left as the biggest consumer so I have to go and search that and see if i can find answers there.
Hope it's useful for you and any help would be priciated

Both rooted, kernel... WiFi on, flight mode on, mobile network off.
Thing that stands out is dat Samsung o s on the s6 has 42% and on the note 3 Samsung o s 6%

It works best with rooted phone, but there is a working mode for unrooted phones as well which I'm using on my s6 as it's not rooted! It's located in experimental features, you'll see it says working mode Non-rooted!
Download it! It's free and less than 5mb! If u don't like it, uninstall it!
My carrier is a brazilian company called TIM, which is a subsidiary of Telecom Italia Mobile. I don't have problem with 4g/lte/call signal.

Morning guys.
Last evening I wiped cache, fully loaded the battery. WiFi on, airplan mode on. Rest off. Downloaded better batterystats and left it.
This morning the phone still has battery life left! That's new!
Now 9.27 our on battery. 76% empty
We'll wenn I look at battery usage on the phone it is Samsung o s on top with 43%.
In better battery stats. Awake has 96%.
So that means that the phone never go's to sleep?
Someone got some solution for that?
After reading something about it I've uninstalled ANT services and ANT plug-in, definitely a better behavior.
With wifi , bluetooth, mobile data off, non automatic display and set to one third for luminosity (enough for an indoor use), google and S voice on demand and some other goodies deactivated, a charge lasts 2 and a bit days on this S6 edge + (I used it heavily yesterday with sms and one long call for about 3h),, so this is much better thant the first days when it lasted hardly one day on a charge.
I'll try these apps to round the culprit and still has to uinstall all the non needed apps and services like google crap, samsung crap, facebook and such.I've also installed DS Eco Battery from playstore that clearly helped my phone to stay in deep sleep.
Hi Charlene
Can you post your s6 battery usage here?
I have the same phone and for comparison it would be useful to see what the difference is in usage?
As mentioned earlier the android o s toke up far to much % if you ask me.
Edit: Today I ran wake lock detector. WiFi off, mobile network off, no acculoader plugged.
Just looked at it and under kernel I found bcm4773_wake_lock keeping s6 awake. Anybody familiar with it? Thanks!

S-Health Steps counter doesnt work / if it works, its very unprecise to say the least

My girlfriend has the S7 Edge (German model) now since it came out. She had Galaxy devices before, but since then she never really cared for S-Health. Now with the S7 she kinda does, and in the beginning the steps counter in S-Health worked fine. Now out of a sudden, it stopped counting. The device is still vanilla, no root, no mod or anything. It recently got the latest Update from Samsung that is available here. But even after that, the Steps counter still worked fine. Now it stopped most of the time, and if it works, it only says like it has done 30 steps (after it should be at least 2000 or so). On google i found a hint to uninstall all Updates for S-Health and reinstall them and start over with S-Health. Did that, no effect really.
Does anyone know what the issue is ? Is it a software issue, is a sensor in the device broken or faulty or what could it be ? Because for her, that Steps counter is important, and she really would like to continue with that. Maybe one of you also had this issue and even fixed it and maybe knows what to do. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.

It happens to me once, I removed the widget and put a new widget again and it started counting
She doesn't even use the Widget on one of the Screens. She just goes into the app itself to check. So she doesn't even have the widget in use.
Sent from a smartphone...
The same thing has just happened to me and my phone is only 4 months old. I tried uninstalling updates, and I do not have a widget. I am about to return it to Best Buy if I do not find a solution soon.

Permissions granted to Gsam Pro and Wakelock Detector keep resetting on reboot

I have a strange problem that so far only seems to be plaguing my new S8+. I use both Gsam Pro and Wakelock Detector to identify problematic apps that needs some TLC. As I do not root I would normally just provide appropriate permissions to the two apps via ADB and all is well until I have to factory erase or reinstall for some reason. With the S8+ however the granted permissions will randomly reset themselves after a reboot. Not every reboot will do this, some only. It is totally random. When the permissions are gone I actually have to reapply them before the two apps can be used properly again. Any idea what is resetting the permissions?
Thoughts?

hi ,
Just to add support, to your question .
I have the S8+ for _+ 4 days .
My S8+ is also not rooted ,stock ROM .
I have also Gsam ,Wakelock Dectector and BetterBattery Stats on phone .Also used ADB
to configure Gsam and BetterBattery Stats .( forgot to configure Wakelock .....thanks )
I at least reboot my device once a day (a habit !! )
Anyway BetterBattery Stats has once resetted itself over period of time
Gsam i have had not issues yet .
Will see if Wakelock Dectector stick .
I have had problems with gsam, yesterday i was able to reboot ok and gsam remained ok. this morning my AQDD update arrived and after installing that, gsam has reverted to showing no breakdown again. However I also had trouble with gsam when i first gave it permissions via ADB with it refusing to work.....until I had fully charged it, then suddenly it started showing me the breakdown again. At the time of installing the update this morning I only had 40% battery left so I am wondering if it has something to do with the battery percentage and reboots causing it (nougat itself still knows it has had 4h screen on time). I did not re-do the permissions in between, i just charged it to full and suddenly gsam started showing the full app breakdown instead of the one item, so I dont think it is actually losing permissions, it seems to be something else causing it to firstly reset the timers and secondly stop showing the breakdown properly.
The other issue is that even yesterday and the day before, when it was correctly showing the full cpu app breakdown, every time i reboot, it reset my screen on time and other stats! The Nougat stats still showed the correct screen on time. I tried both sets of stats "since last unplugged" and "since last full charge" and it had reset both. It WAS still showing the breakdown (unlike today), it had just reset all the timers like it does every time i reboot.
Hmm, maybe we should reach out to the developers to let them know. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.
@ewokuk - can you tell me your version of DQA? I accidentally dismissed the prompt to update it and now I am no longer able to get the update it seems. Ideally if you can extract the APK and attach it here I would appreciate it.

I did email the gsam dev a few days ago when I was first trying to make it work, but didnt get a reply. If we all email him maybe they will fix it
How do I see what version it is? Package disabler doesnt show version numbers of the packages, I haven't seen any update for DQA though so it sould still be the default one.
Updated DQA is 1.1.13-10
It's called base.apk for some odd reason per APK Info.

Thank you sir. Samsung needs to work on their delivery of critical updates. What a joke. I accidentally dismissed the prompt and there was no way to get it back or to get the update again. Thank you for posting this.

Hello...
Did you get answer from Gsam developer??... I'm having this issue as well. The Gsam it's working well, but suddenly the stats had been reset and not showing the full cpu app breakdown.
Also there is a small gap on the android graphic, so I guess is something related to a kind of power subsystem restart or something like that, but BetterBatteryStats are working well....

Thank you...
I guess Gsam is abandoned. There is not new version from 2013.
Thanks we've got BetterBatteryStats....
Now I've purchased AccuBattery, but it is not the same. We cannot see the aps on background...
Regards!!!

Yes, you're probably correct. No problem ?
I have the same problem but Gsam is dead and no longer being supported. It resets on my 6p, Pixel XL and it did the same on my old s8Plus. It literally just reset on my Pixel XL with 64% battery left. Sometimes I can bring the stats back by force closing it and clearing the cache but that doesn't always work. It didn't use to do this. Oh well. I guess we'll have to live with it because it's not going to get fixed. It sucks because I love Gsam. I also had Wakelock Detector and Better Battery Stats reset. I think it's something to do with Android.

Yes I guess is something related to Nougat. Wakelock detector also fails, but BBS it is not failing at all, but this is because BBS is still under development, and it is up to date, use it.

I'm not on Nougat. I'm on Oreo on my 6p and Pixel XL. Gsam started acting weird on Nougat and continues to on Oreo. It's weird because I've never had Gsam reset on my Axon 7 on Nougat but it did on my 6p when it was on Nougat. It just started doing it out of nowhere. When Gsam would reset BBS would too. BBS had an update awhile back so maybe that corrected it. I usually have both of those apps installed. Gsam reset on my Pixel XL yesterday but BBS didn't. I guess I'll keep using Gsam and BBS. Gsam provides me with good information until it resets. Lol
