Hi, I tried 3 gsi rom's for our device and I found that the video codec or something else regarding video playback is not right :crying: because when I play any video in YouTube it plays only audio not the video and sometime the video glitches very badly but audio works fine. So my question is that can it be fixed? By flashing some zip or overriding the codec or something else , it doesn't happens only in yt app it also occurs in other video players using HW Codec.
I used a bunch of GSI ROMS and I faced 0 problems playing videos. It must be something else. Did you follow this guide correctly?

Hi, could you recommend the best GSI rom you have ever tried?
FIXED : I think the issue was with the one ui rom itself, I downloaded quantum rom which was a little modded ver of stock pie (Samsung one ui). So, flashing GSI over that rom was giving me video playback error. Therefore I simply flashed official pie rom through Odin and flashed GSI over that and it fixed all my video playback issues.

Everyone will like a different based on their needs. I use HavocOS v2.8. You should also try LiquidRemix. And see which one you like.
I found the problem. When i switch my display size from 1080p to 720p, the video playback issue starts. So, I switched back to 1080p and everything is fine.

I have problem with sound when i watch video on Youtube and other sites,ther is some claping or crackling noise, and the problem is only with video files, music is ok, after i instaled CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC3, before that i had CM7 Alpha7 and it was normal.
Can sombody help me or know how to solve this problem?

Other users have also reported similar issues. I would try tweaking the settings in DSP Manager to see if that helps but the video drivers in CM7 are not fully made and i think that may be causing the problem. If you regularly watch videos on your phone the only solution would be to revert back to a froyo ROM.
I would wait for CM7 to be complete first
Try this:
- Copy alpha7.update.zip/system/lib (whole folder)
- Paste it in alpha8.update.zip/system/
- Install the update.zip and choose 'fix permissions'

its the problem with kernel, try flashing g3mod 2.5 or moik's fugumod kernel..its fixed in those kernels..

Hello,I have recently searching in XDA how to fix bugs in custom ROMs and from there I made a flashable zip to fix all bugs in RR like video,audio recording,sensors etc...I am not a developer..I have taken OK's meta-inf(from his flashable zip).Do a fresh install of RR then flash this zip....I have personally tested it in my r3s and it worked..thnx

You are right..there are no bugs except that.but sometimes video recorder freezes and works fine after reboot....have you tried the zip??noticed any bug after flashing??

Why don't you try it???Video recording will work perfectly but after some time when you will go to record video it will fail without any reason but will work surely after reboot....
i can try it but i do not know about the battery backup of the rr rom.becauese to explore bugs in it.i need to use it for some days.BTW the fix you gave for CM13 rom..does it solve recording issue? i have used that cm13 for like a fortnight and i was content with it...

You can try both ROMs as their base are same also the battery backup...but RR is a bit more customizable than cm...thnx...

Yup it's working for me on stock
is vedio chat on duo or messenger working? and whatsapp audio calls?
i tried the installation file with TWRP
(now the camera seems to be recording, the file is stored, but there is only the first image and no sound.
is there an extra step ? permissions are set during the installation ?)
ok, after a "clean" install it is working fine !
what i've done:
re-flash RR rom , flash final fix, wipe cache and dalvik (i keeped data)
so working : microphone for apps like google voice... , sensors for screen rotation, camera + video, ans till now everything

i just tried...the vedio recording works for a few times but then it does save vedio but the vedio is just one frame ...i even restarted my phone still same thing.i tried both RR with its fix..and CM with its.Same problem in both.otherwise very stable..audio recording is working fine.no issues with whatsapp calls(which previously was not working),also vedio calling is working fine.

Bro I have told if video recorder freezes,you can make it run again by rebooting and play the videos which you have recorded then,not before rebooting...and videos recorded before rebooting will still be frozen....only sound a still image...
But I am finding a solution.....

Unfortunately, it only works in the stock camera and only record on 720p. Tested in RR 6.0.0

Thanks.. I know the dev who made this file.. Also tested the same while this created in multiple oreo ROMs.. it's same like we're already using Footage as a workaround.. But still we cannot send Videos on whatsapp & maybe on some other social media apps.. We need a hardware level fix.. not a Software level which we already got a long ago...

Idk but other devs are trying their best to fix it..
First I installed Validus 8.1 ROM with Magisk, next I tried Resurrection Remix 7.1 with Magisk. I am having an issue with audio coming from any type of video- VLC movies, YouTube, etc. The videos play fine (in720p, of course) but I get no audio from any of them. I also tried music files on VLC with no luck, nor will they play on the stock RR music player or Power Amp Pro. The stock music player did work with Validus ROM.
So what am I missing here? Do I need to download/install a codec package? Do I need to install another kernel? What am I overlooking here?

Internal srt subtitle that is softcoded srt subtitle is not displaying.This happens with every video file with srt subtitle.SSA format is working properly.Downloaded subtitles are also working.Using Mx player 1.33.2.I have attached bug report.

Yes, it appears that you are using an older version of a custom codec by renaming it. Please use a custom codec built from the latest sources, and you shouldn't have this issue.
Yes I Am using now latest custom codec it is working now.
I have the same problem on my Xiaomi Mi Box S. I've downloaded latest custom codecs (v1.32.0) and installed them from here, but subtitles won't be displayed.

Thanks. That solved the problem!
To anyone who is facing the same problem. What I did is update the MX player pro. Though the update was not available on the playstore but I updated it from the official website. This problem is due to custom codec for me and for most of us. Just update somehow and use latest codec as mentioned above already by MXPlayer.
