If I'm in let's say the settings menu and tab to another screen , the settings screen closes. Irritating as I then have to drive back to my menu again.

Mine stays open. I can be in display settings and swipe up for home screen then open 8 other apps and leave them open and 5 min later my settings tab in recents doesn't reload but I'm instantly back in my display settings
Soon as I press the square button on the navbar settings screen poof disappears.

That has been removed. The menu button will appear only if necessary and needed by the app itself. If you don't seem to find the menu button, it might be embedded in the app itself. The menu button on the navigation bar will appear at the left-most corner. A 3 horizontal line with a small triangle.
So it seems like..it has already been removed..and also the screen grab shortcut aswell hmmm anyways thanks for the input though

Any idea how to flip the multitask and back buttons ? Isn't it weird that the back button is now on the right ? Why would Samsung do that ?
My menu button on GT-6210 hardly ever shows up no matter which app I'm using & it's totally random when it decides to show back up (using stock honeycomb.) I got so annoyed by not having it when I needed it so I bought an app called called button survivor from the market. I think it needs root permission but now I can use that to open the menu whenever I need it.

So did they remove quick launch options in the display settings removed on jellybean?
Settings/display/quick launch
I don't have jellybean so I can't check but if they they removed the quick launch option & removed the screenshot shortcut that is very disappointing and makes no sense at all.

One thing that I am finding annoying in Kitkat is that the left most screen (other than Google Now) is the default screen after pressing the home button. I'd prefer that I could choose which screen the home button takes me to. Is there a setting for this that I am misssing?
Thanks
Yes you're missing everything about android, this isn't ios of course you can change whichever home screen you want. When you're on your home screen press the 'Home screen button' again and then press the small + sign the upper right corner, there you can add or delete and rearrange your screens and the one with the green check mark is your default main home screen.

That worked on 4.3, but it doesn't seem to work on 4.4. The default home screen (i.e. where the home button takes you) is always the "left-most" screen (other than google now) and you have to scroll right to get to the other screens.

Not being able to choose the default screen bugged me for a total of 1 day and now I don't care anymore.

you can drag and rearrange the screens to pick a new home
While it looks like there is no way to set which screen is the home screen - probably because of google now being the leftmost screen - you CAN change the order of the screens by long-pressing and then dragging them to rearrange. Whichever one is left-most becomes the default "home screen". when you hit the home icon.
Hi,
I'm currently using Nova Launcher which has a settings to remap the home button when on the homescreen.
You can map it to a Nova settings, an app or a shortcut.
I currently have it mapped to a Secure Settings shortcut that lock my phone.
The issue I'm having with this settings, it's that it does not respect the delay locking option I have set on my security settings (5 min).
I'm looking for a way to map the home button to something that would shutdown the screen but respect the locking delay like the real power button does.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks.
Its because you're locking the phone in secure settings. Power button turns of the screen. So its a different action.
Which are you using by the way? Dev admin action > lock device or root actions > power button lock?
Not sure how different they are. Essentially you need to look to turn off screen not lock device

Hi haven't payed for the Pro Upgrade so Power button lock is not available to me.
I know it's because I'm using the Lock Device feature, that because I cannot find another option that simply simulates the power button press.
Can someone confirm to me that "Power button lock" in Secure Settings would provide me with the right feature ?
Thanks.
I don't have pro. You're rooted though I guess? Dalvik or ART?
Can use xposed + gravitybox in nova as a shortcut to set device to sleep. This allows the delay to work

Yes ! Thanks a lot !
My phone is automatically going into DND at 9pm everyday.
But when go to settings and click on DND it just jumps back to home screen. I can't get into menu to change time or deselect option anymore.
I can manually switch it off via quick settings but obviously something isn't right.
Are clicking on the little arrow on the far right rather than the centre of the panel?

This feature is somewhat lacking in its execution on Samsung devices...
You can only get the sleep option by long pressing the apps icon that you wish to put to sleep. Only it will work if you have a shortcut on the home screen.....it doesn't work if you long press the apps icon on the app drawer because all that does is put the shortcut on the home screen. This means the somewhat simple task of putting an app to sleep takes 3 steps.
Make the shortcut
Put it to sleep
Delete unwanted shortcut from ocd style home screen.
Am I missing a super easy alternative method??

put to sleep? where is that? I'm only seeing "force close" as usual
Settings - Device maintenance - Battery.
Scroll down to app power monitor, you should be able to put the awake apps to sleep there from what I can see.

Yes its an android 7 feature. Once an app shortcut is on the home screen you can touch and hold to bring up a menu. In that menu is sleep. I do this more waze for example.
