Hi,
I ordered my 7 Pro from Amazon prime since it was guaranteed next day shipping; store was swiftronics.
Everything seems to be okay but when paying attention to the content of the box, nothing is in english. The documentation, welcome note from the owner/CEO, everything is in mandarin/cantonese. Also, when I do a factory reset, instead of "wiping partitions" or whatever is written at the bottom of the progress bar, it's also something in a language I don't understand.
I also noticed that when I boot it up, for 2-3 seconds, i'll see the oneplus logo, the "powered by android" at the bottom and it won't be centered, as if it was an image for a different resolution phone. After those 2-3 seconds, screen goes black and then the same logos come back but this time they are centered.
Should I be worried that I was sold a unit made for the Asian market? I don't care so much about documentation but I know China for example has its own restrictions for the internet and I don't want to have those in Canada.
In the about phone, it says Model GM1910, Oxygen OS 9.5.11.GM21AA.
Would it be different hardware for North America / Canada?
Quick update, I checked with the online chat with OnePlus and it's definitely a device made for China, not north america. It seems to work fine but I might try to return it and buy it again directly from OnePlus instead.

I also own a GM1910 with flashed Oxygen OS. My data wipe screen is in English as well so I'm not very sure what's going on there.
GM1910 (the Chinese model) is basically the same hardware, but it has different band support (missing Band 71 and several other). Here is the supported bands from the chinese model
Code:
FDD LTE: B1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,28,29,32,66
TDD-LTE: B34,38,39,40,41
TDS: B34,39
UMTS: B1,2,4,5,8,9,19
CDMA: BC0,BC1
GSM: B2,3,5,8
Thank you. I'm not concerned about documentation but the off center logo I find weird and you confirming that the bands are different makes me more confident that I should return in and buy one from Oneplus canada directly.
I'll just go back to my 6T for a few days while figuring out the return with Amazon.

So yours came with Hydrogen and you flashed Oxygen? Mine came with OxygenOS so I have a feeling this seller buys phones, flashes them to OxygenOS, and re-sells them as international.

Yeah I think that is very likely the case bc your model is should only be sold in China and all oneplus phones sold in china comes with hydrogen.
Just an assumption, as Chinese models are sold at a relatively lower price, maybe your seller purchased them in China and shipped them there to get the price lower.

The chinese 8+256 model costs 4499 CNY (around 637 USD), the model I found on op US official website costs 699 USD, but on amazon the price is 850 USD, not sure what the deal is there.

I noticed that too, hence why I bought it from OnePlus in USA directly and not Amazon.

On Amazon Canada, the version with 8gb/256gb was 949$CDN with next day shipping thanks to Prime. On the OnePlus store, it's 939$ but it ships from California so it takes longer to get to Canada. Not long but a few days longer.
Other reason I wanted to buy from Amazon is that I knew I'd love the phone but I was concerned about the size. Since our family buys a LOT from Amazon, I would not be too concerned about returning a phone if the size was a huge issue.
Turns out it's big, really big, but I can get used to it. What I don't want though is to have a phone for the next two years that might not be perfectly setup for north America.
I returned the Amazon phone last week and will order from OnePlus once they confirm my credit card has been credited.
It might not be a big problem but I plan on keeping the phone for awhile and I want to make sure it's perfect. It being a model for the Chinese market would bug me every day so I didn't want to keep it.
Edit: I forgot to mention that since it's made for China, it should come with hydrogen OS but it came with Oxygen OS so it's possible that store opens the phones, flashes oxygen OS, then repackaged them as "new from factory"

Do you get a one year warranty? If not, send it back to Amazon and order from OnePlus. Not having band 71 on the Chinese model is moot, since only t mobile USA uses it.

As you clearly are not comfortable with the actual situation and as long as you still have the return window open, there is no other way to happiness except returning the phone to Amazon and buy another one from oneplus. You will never have peace of mind knowing that the seller did that trick to make the phone international...

I hate returning stuff because I'm really happy with the phone and I'm not sure how much money merchants lose on returns. I don't think they were dishonest, but I think it qualifies as selling something not exactly as advertised.
Lesson learned, I bought my 6T directly from OnePlus, I should have done the same for my 7 Pro.

To my knowledge all 16GB phones are China-edition and thus
a) missing international LTE bands
b) come with a chinese OS (ColorOS) instead of CM
Afaik all early contest winners who won the 16GB edition were upgraded to white 64GB editions.

Your knowledge is wrong.
1. The LTE works fine in Europe for the chinese version.
2. You can flash CM11S stock image.
3. There are 16GB international phones for sure.
I bought mine from lenteen.fr , paid via paypal, received 1 week later
But now they ship from EU (mine was shipped from china) and it should take around 48h
If your buying on Gumtree then make sure you pick it up as there are a lot of paypal scammers on there.
I'm selling one of mine on there at the moment and I have had a few people asking if I would post and take paypal even though I offered to deliver(I travel a lot with work) so you just know they would make a paypal claim as soon as they get the phone.
Likewise if your buying on there you get a lot of scammers looking to pull a fast one.
If you are buying a sealed in box phone then you can't check for the yellow screen until you pay for it.

That's a dangerous statement as neither chinese nor international OnePlus work as expected across all of Europe due to the missing LTE band 20.
Furthermore the chinese 1+ is missing LTE bands 4/17/38/40 which equals to 43% of all LTE bands missing. True it will work in most parts of Europe where the international one is working due to Europe's huge reliance on LTE bands 3/7/20.
Additionally the chinese version is missing 3G/HSPA band 4
Conclusion: my point still stands that the chinese version is NOT the same as the intl. connectivity-wise.

I specifically said "comes with", not that CM11S cannot be flashed anyway. Even if it is not very likely, they could break CM11S official updates based on IMEI, serial or other factors if you are not entitled to it. You would still have the "normal" CM11 though.

They changed production schedule way before mass-producing the device - only a few international devices were shipped with 16GB to journalists and maybe very early contest winners. Fact is that you could NEVER buy the 16GB intl edition.
Just bought mine off Gumtree from a local guy who had pre-ordered but bought an HTC M8 in the meantime.
£320 for a SandStone Black 64GB, brand new and unopened - absolute bargain
Hi there. Im from Barcelona, Spain, and I bought my Oneplus One from myefox.es. I bought the white 64GB one, with DHL shipping service (was here in 6 days) and it costed me 313€ total price (around 270 pounds, guessing) Yes, it is the chinese version, but it comes with CM11S installed, unlocked bootloader, stock recovery.
Works perfect, no problem with reception, calls, signal... not eiter in spain nor uk, as I travel to Glasgow quite often so, so far, so great!
I think it is a great deal, so you might want to go and check the website, I think they have one in english too, but this is the one that I bought it from.

Paco.

Sorry, you're right. No invites for 16gb phones now..
As for CM, since they posted a ROM on their website, it's very unlikely they would ever start doing something you mentioned to the CN versions... Even if the 1% chance came to be, you can always get the latest OTA zip on xda
Gumtree probably best place like I said just meet them at there house or yours exchange details if you feel need. There some good deals ATM

Since it appears the AT&T V10 is bootloader locked. I will not purchase another bootloader locked phone, period! This thread is information on using the T-Mobile V10 on the AT&T Network. Discussion should include LTE bands, apps, signal problems, carrier unlocking methods, etc.

This looks interesting. Looks like band 17 is included.
Note as information is confirmed, I will change the OP.
Thanks.
The other thread mentioned T-Mobile chat said a T-Mobile account holder could check in their My T-Mobile page. I looked, "Technical specifications not available for this device."
Also, the box does not list any band support.
Also, I can't test another SIM really since I don't have SIM unlock (you can request it from T-Mobile if your device is paid off or you're going overseas).
I guess the only real way to find out is to actually buy the phone, try it for ourselves, and do a speed test. I'll volunteer, but since I called T-Mobile and they refuse to sell the phone without a plan, I have to wait for Best Buy to start selling the phone. Shouldn't be long, as I called them and was told to check back on Monday. Plus, since the terms for LG's special SD card offer (which ends in about two weeks) lists Best Buy as a seller, they will probably start selling them within the next week. But then I'll have to wait for T-Mobile to send me an unlock code, which will only take 3 days. Worst case scenario, 4G either doesn't work or is garbage and I have to return the phone, which I'll have 14 days to do for a full refund.
But if anyone figures out we get decent/excellent LTE speeds before I end up buying it, that would be awesome

Since 12 and 17 are both a part of LTE700, do we know for sure if that will be enough to use AT&T's 4G network assuming we have the T-Mobile V10?
I put an app on a T-Mobile Note 3 named LTE Discovery. One must have band 17 for LTE in my location for AT&T LTE. On the T-Mobile web site the Note 3 does support LTE band 17. This does not look good, but will wait until someone confirms. At least on the FCC site the phone has been approved for LTE band 17 but it is not clear if this is the AT&T or T-Mobile version. One last thing the AT&T website does not list support for LTE band 17 either (very strange). Here is the AT&T V10 Bands: LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 29, and 30

They won't, but T-Mobile made it very clear that they would send me an unlocking code after I bought the phone (paid in full), so long as I can wait 2-3 days. This is why I want to wait until Best Buy sells it, because their return policy is so rock solid, and I can take advantage of that if 4G doesn't work. I can't say the same for trying to return the phone to T-Mobile. Plus, I really like Best Buy's accidental damage plans, so I'll wait for them to start selling it there.
Good information but the local bestbuy only sales T-Mobile prepaid phones.

I picked up the v10 yesterday from T-Mobile and they gave me the phone and said they would unlock it immediately if I wanted to stay with AT&T. They will also finance it if I want. I told them exactly what and why I wanted to get this phone from T-Mobile instead of AT&T and they had absolutely no problem with it. I am testing the T-Mobile Service for now to see if it will work in my area. Would be close to $80 a month cheaper if I switch and a ton more data a month. Maybe certain areas have different rules? Not sure why my T-Mobile store would do that and others won't.

Different stores do different things. Reminds me of the cricket store here. I wanted to buy a sim card and port my number they told me to go to walmart to buy one and call cricket to port my number. Anyway my son-in-law went to the cricket store in his area and they not only gave him a free sim card but ported his number. These stores don't have consistent policies.
Whatever.

I was told that the stores themselves don't have any authorization to do that kind of thing (carrier unlock), and that I'd have to go through customer care if I wanted to unlock it.
Did they tell you that in person? I find that what you're told on the phone and what actually happens in person are two very different things.
Did you get it unlocked yet? Everyone's pretty eager to see if 4G works.

In person. I made it a point to ask. The guy that was helping me called his general manager to make sure. I didn't want to do this and get screwed over later if the guy didn't know what he was talking about.
Not unlocked yet. I'm finding the signal from T-Mobile is better than I had with AT&T so far. The true test will be when I go to work on Monday. For anyone with T-Mobile the service sucks inside the building I work in.

I definitely wish I could do the same. I have to drive nearly 70 miles to get to the nearest T-Mobile store, and of course they have coverage in that area, but they have absolutely no coverage where I actually live. If the phone works for sure on AT&T, I won't mind driving all that way to get it, nor will I mind paying the extra $35 for a stupid plan (really crappy that they force that on you), but I want to find all that out before I go an hour out of my way to find out I'm out of luck. I also really want to get this sorted out before the free SD card/battery promotion runs out. I'm considering just getting the AT&T one on a payment plan, but I just don't know how I'm going to get by without root.
At T-Mobile now to get unlock. Signal dropped as I drove past my job. I can't have the signal drop at work. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks! I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we all really appreciate it. If you could use the speedtest.net app too, that would be awesome!
I called all the t-mobile stores close by and none have had the v10 in stock. All said it could be ordered and delivered in 2-3 days. Either they didn't have many or this is a hot phone.
There were only 2 stores in my area that had it and both probably sold out last night or today. (there's a ton of stores near me but only the "big" ones had it in stock yesterday.)
I was in store buying mine around 530 last night and a guy came in to get one as I was finishing up. The rep that was helping me was also going to buy one that evening and they only had like 4 left when I originally called.
I think its going to be more popular than they are anticipating because of the **removable battery and sd card**!
Samsung ditched a lot of people when they dumped the battery and sd and we've been waiting!

Newegg.ca was carrying some stock this morning, but an hour later they were sold out. Any other online retailer carrying this phone? I don't want to get the one from B&H as there will be customs and duties charged on an already pricey phone.
Finally made up my mind after reading some reviews this morning (I was considering the Pixel XL - I have a Nexus 6 currently), however I prefer the slightly bigger screen and replaceable battery on the V20 (I consider the rest of the features equivalent for my purposes). Found a couple on newegg.ca, but got distracted on a conference call, when I got back to the site, they were sold out....
Haven't seen it either. There is a tiny shop in Vancouver that appears to be selling it for $1300 but their website looks like its from 1999.
If we can buy the Tmobile variant with the $200 rebate it will be cheaper than buying it in Canada at any point in history I believe.
https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/K0YNFay/lg-us996-v20-lte-a/canada (LG H918TN) The LG V20 F800 is not useful in Canada.
B&H you can order, get a tablet, and some headphones. Of course you need a place to ship in the USA to pick up or use something like skypax or w/e.

B&H you can order, get a tablet, and some headphones. Of course you need a place to ship in the USA to pick up or use something like skypax or w/e.

Just remember that if you buy the T-Mobile phone you have to use it on their network for 40 days before getting it unlocked. Do NOT expect to get it unlocked from a 3rd party site. It won't work. I went down this road with the v10 and it is not a pleasant experience.

Probably a better choice to just buy the B&H variant then, you get free headphones, free tablet, and an unlocked phone. I thought t-mobile was all unlocked phones, the uncarrier.

You won't be disappointed, virtually no 3rd party bloat (facebook can be disabled),as most of the T-Mobile garbage can be disabled as well.
It's a nice phone,root/de-bloat/ROMS will make it even better,my Note 7 is fast becoming a faded memory...................

Good to see you in the neighborhood @markbencze
I've had success with this service,as recent as this year, with unlocking the HTC 10 & M9 before the 40 days is up (still under device contracts as well) :

As we speak,I'm going to order it to try out, results are promised in 3-5 days,I'll update as soon as I get the results...........

I just got the order confirmation:
As T-Mobile is different from other carriers, the usual 3rd party unlock codes DO NOT WORK,methods that are specific to T-Mobile's Device Unlock App are the only ones that will work w/current/newer T-Mobile phones.
Basically,if the phone comes with the Device Unlock app,you have to use the method specific for devices with that app:
Here's another example of what I'm talking about, from another supplier:
https://www.masterunlockcode.com/lg-u-s-a-t-mobile-unlock-via-[unlocking-app]-lg-v20-unlock-code-np-2383-21613
Yeah,it's expensive, all unlock services are with brand new devices, the prices do drop relatively soon.
The one I used in my previous post is $15 less expensive than this one, there's probably others out there, just pick one you like.
Again,my order should deliver mid-week,so,I'll post my results, perhaps save you some trouble should the unlock request be unsuccessful.
FWIW,the service I used has a money back guarantee, just follow the links I posted & follow the instructions in the correspondence after the order & you should be good to go.
Another BTW,I am a T-Mobile US customer with the T-Mobile variant of the V20,financed via JOD.
This shouldn't have any bearing on the success/failure on the unlock request, just a BTW. :good:
Well I used 3 different unlock site for my v10 and all 3 refunded me because of changes to the tmo device unlock app they couldn't do it anymore. Feel free to try but what I had to do was buy a prepaid birth American roaming plan for $50 usd a month and use it for over 40 days so it cost me $100 usd and then after 40 days send a ton of unlock requests. Finally after going through a ton of hours of tech support I got ahold of a lady in the vice president office who was able to grant the unlock. I posted the ladies info in the v10 and g5 forums somewhere in one of the several "unlock help" threads. It is a known problem for people who bought tmo devices hoping to use on other networks. So you've all been warned to prepare for a painful ordeal. Who knows maybe you get lucky.
What's B&H ?
Oh and what has my interest is the LG theme system. I've got my hands on the black and gold theme apk and took a peak at it. I'm gonna try and modify it slightly and get someone to test to see if it will install and be accessible like their other themes. If that's the case then I can make themes for it without issue. Unlike samscum who's themes don't install like a normal apk. That's gonna be the deciding factor if I get one of these or not

I've used UNLOCK BASE in the past without issue & they do offer a guarantee,I used PayPal to check out,so,I'm not out any $$ for 14 days.
Should it not work,a call to PayPal will cancel the payment/transaction within minutes,so,virtually risk-free.
I know that's of little consolation for those on another network & paying for a device full price with usability still in question.
That's why I'm giving it a shot with this phone/service,it's the least I could do to help out the community.
I'll keep y'all posted

I don't want to deal with the customs/duties etc and would rather wait till I can get it from a Canadian site like newegg.ca. I've been burned too many times with customs/duties and its a hassle driving down to Buffalo to get the phone - working too many hours these days.
Surely there's got to be more than one retailer selling the phone in Canada?

I've used this exact same service for at least 3 T-Mobile devices with the Device Unlock app & have never had an issue whatsoever.
One big BTW:
This has to be performed on an unrooted device, however, once unrooted (which I had to do on one of my phones), the service works as intended.
Re-rooting the device has no effect on SIM Unlock status afterwards.(I'm certain most are aware of this, but, just putting it out there, since this T-Mobile Device Unlock app & 3rd party unlock method is new to a lot of users everywhere). :good:

I wonder if Wind would sell me one - I'm with Fido.
The Porsche Design is incredibly expensive. But they have announced a Mate 9 Pro, and is on their web site here. But no information on versions, or places to purchase.
Google search not turning anything up either.
Seems like this time of year would be good time to get this stuff out there and available.

It's only a limited release so far.
It's available in China, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Your only way of getting it would probably be to import a Chinese version. I've yet to see a Nordic shop ship internationally even though it would probably be preferable (albeit more expensive) to get one from a Nordic country.
Other than that, you can only cross your fingers and hope it sees a wider release. I'm guessing they're testing to see the reception of a curved amoled display for future devices.
Thanks
Sweden and most of the others appears to be pre order from 20th.
i've found a couple of shops in sweden that will ship to other countries when they do have stock...
If you find out where the Pro is available for purchase online, please post.
Yeah, a lot of people like me have interest on this Model.
Sure. Likewise, of course.
Misco in sweden will post overseas but they only taking pre orders and are not guaranteeing it'll be instock by 20th. They said telcos will get them first so maybe try them....

Yup. It sure is. Although it is not available from a supplier in the U.S.
One of my concerns about purchasing a phone that would not be from a vendor in the U.S. is support. Even if the support is 'good', timing for handling would be an issue, I presume. Maybe my concern is not valid...I don't know.
The other thing for me is if I purchase a phone (especially one in that price range) I want to be able to evaluate it for at least a couple weeks and return it if it's not for me for whatever reason. The Oneplus 3 has a 14 day policy, and the Axon 7 has 30 days.
I talked to Huawei customer support today inquiring about the Mate 9 Pro because I have been wanting to get one but was told that they do not recommend buying it from 3rd party vendors or sellers and there is no warranty for the international version of the phone if you use it in the U.S.
Well, that ended my hopes of getting an expensive unlocked phone. Might as well wait for the upcoming phones...

Some re-sellers offer warranty support.
I wouldn't worry about it... I've never had to use warranty service for any of my smartphones. I've been searching but can't find any places selling this phone in silver/gray at a decent price... most are $1,000+. I already got burned when I bought my international Mate 9 (lost $200 when I sold it after the unexpected U.S. release).

Very valid. I bought a Mate 9 Pro in the USA via a seller on ebay. The sellers post just said huawei has 12 month warranty. Which is true. Just incomplete
After i received the device, i could figure out:
Huawei does not seem to have global warranty support == you need to send in the device for any form of repairs to the country where it is originally from.
My device seems to be from Taiwan, but that is just conjecture by me because the packaging has a URL from Taiwan on it. Alas, the Taiwanese Huawei site is one of the few that does not have online warranty check and when i sent an email to them from the webpage to inquire about my warranty status, i never got a reply. Maybe they can not or do not want to talk english. Or deal with overseas sold units customers.
Aka: i guess i am pretty much out of luck wrt. warranty unless i learn chinese and jump into a plane to taipeh. Which could be fun . But i guessed something like that to be the situation before i bought the phone, so no big surprise.
i got my mate 9 pro from ebay too. and it's also from taiwan. it's the gray one and it's only $878 + intl express shipping. i think it's the cheapest gray mate 9 pro coz some sellers from aliexpress sells it for even more than $1000 coz it's very rare. and they are selling the chinese version too. mine's international, i got it after 5 days here in new zealand via dhl. didn't have pay any import dutiesas well. the seller only sold 4 of these and i was one of the luckiest to grab the sale. here's the link:

That is a great price! Gray does seem to cost a lot more because it's unavailable mostly... there's a AL00 (China) model open box on eBay, but I'm afraid of dealing with annoyances from buying a Chinese model.
I've just ordered the gold via Amazon Prime for $889. At least that way I actually CAN easily return the phone and get my money back if I don't like it... or if Huawei does a release in the U.S. soon I won't get screwed.

Sadly not available in the UK via eBay, I wonder how it compares to the G8 as this would be my first LG phone.
In the UK the V50 will be quite pricey on contact so Wonda might be an option. I'm weighing up getting the V50 or something like the Lenovo Z6 Pro which is getting a global release this Thursday on Aliexpress - Lenovo's official store having a sale I think. Lenovo Z6 Pro is only £400 - looks a great bargain.
Both LG and Lenovo don't have a great track record of updating Android but Lenovo might be improving as two updates have been issued since the Z6 Pro was released in April.
