Unlock it using CROM

To unlock S8+ SM-G9550 bootloader use CROM service
Step 1: Download into your phone CROM.apk [message me for link, I'm new member and can't post URLs...]
Step 2: Install it by accepting from unknown sources
Step 3: Hit unlock and you're DONE!!!

What is this "crom.apk" and if all of the devs here couldn't find a way to unlock the bootloader for the snapdragon variant of our phone why would this work? Seems a little fishy to me.
I am not going to be the first to try it and brick my phone. If others try it and it works then I might try it.
Not calling you a liar, I just know that the devs here worked long and hard and didn't find a way to unlock this bootloader so I am not putting much faith into an .apk file. Sorry.

Well I actually found the CROM solution inside this site look for [[RECOVERY][OFFICIAL] TWRP for Galaxy S8 and S8+ (Snapdragon)] on the #3 posted by Jesec with link I run it on my SM-G9550 and unlock bootloader easily now my real challenge is to successfully root my phone which I believe is the path you're heading too, so far I was able to flash TWRP + dm-verity and force encryption disabler.zip + Magisk and been able to almost fully root it and I'm saying that due that if I activate Google account and shutdown/restart the phone it then get stuck at the Boot screen with a FRP locked message...

So you are saying after you run the crom on the next reboot it gets stuck, or only after you login to your Google account? If it gets locked/stuck at the boot screen then your phone is unusable. I am not trying to be a jerk or be difficult, and I hope you figure this out, but until it is fully usable I am not going to try it. Are you using the S8 or S8 plus?
Good luck figuring it all out.
Well, so I guess I should be more active in the site.
There are two firmwares for the G9550 the Hong Kong and the China, one has the bootlader unlocked and the other doesn't, you just have to install the one that is unlocked in your phone through odin. After that you can install magisk for root. I haven't done the process in Oreo, just Nougat, but I have a rooted S8+ g9550 doing this. Today I might try it in Oreo

I've been searching for a method to root a G9550 (the one I have is from China) for a VERY long time now and I still have practically no idea about anything. All of the Samsung phones I ever had were International models.
EDIT: Yes, I realise that Snapdragons cannot be unlocked, but for some reason I'm still trying to do the impossible. I guess I am not rooting the phone lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How to root S7 Model G930VL? (Stright Talk)

Hey folks,
I am new to the rooting scene and was hoping someone could give me some guidance on how to properly root my S7 model G930VL. I've read people say that the bootloader cannot be unlocked while others said it can by simply turning on OEM unlock? Do I really have to flash another firmware in order to root and if so, how would I do that?
Thank you for your time.

all the VLs ive seen use safestrap (i have a G900VL and its the same issue). Ive tried flashing so many different versions of S5 firmware that its becoming hopeless. I know youre talking about a S7 and im talking about a S5, but the issue should be at the very least similar. If the bootloader is locked and isnt unlockable, then all youre left with is safestrap

Hi,
Thanks for the reply back. I actually just ordered a SM-G930F international variant which I was under the impression is much, much easier to root, right? The bootloader is automatically unlocked by turning on OEM in dev settings?

yep and yep. you might have to contend with the 168 hour thing, but other than that it should be a cakewalk. The 168 hour thing is where the bootloader toggle wont switch unless you let it sit powered on for 168 hours. I.E., just dont reboot it for 7 days then toggle the unlock

Root for the unlocked boatloads versions

Hello there
I just ordered my V50 European model to replace my V30, which suddenly had a modem problem it seems cause it stoped reading any sim card without any damage, humidity or obvious short circuit it seems even after meticulously checking the insides abd trials and errors.
Ok I just wanted to ask because I am kind of confused. In the unlocked bootloader versions, isn't it possible to install a custom recovery and get root that way just like with any phone that I unlocked in the past? Meaning I always thought that if you have an unlocked bootloader you can always get root access easily. But is it not this way for now and so we have to wait for a root or custom recovery exploit even if we have an unlocked bootloader from lg?
Just wanted to clarify that and thank you for your time.

There is no custom recovery yet, but rooting with fastboot and some other stuff is not a very device specific task in general. The guide to root the g8s should be exactly what you need.
Any progress with the root?

Dude the g8s people have already managed to root it just look at their guide and use kdztools to get the boot img to patch with magisk
I was wondering if the original poster succeeded with the root. I was also considering to buy the European version but it's nowhere to find here in US.

[G955FD Exynos] Need Help with Re-locking Bootloader :foldedhands:

So I sold my s8+ g955fd seexynos to this guy for a really good price.
My s8+ was rooted with magisk and bootloader was unlocked.
But this guys wants it unrooted and wants the bootloader to be locked so that he can have the ota updates working. And if I fail to do so (which I am at the moment), I would have to return the money (which I dont want to).
I tried flashing stock rom (latest from Sammobile) from the scratch with Odin but still when I check with Intercept X app, it says bootloader unlocked. and I checked in developer options too, the oem unlock is greyed out and set to off and says "bootloader is already unlocked".
Could someone please guide me with working steps please? I am good with flashing and stuff.
I tried searching the s8+ forum but couldn't find anything helpful.
Need urgent help. :foldedhands:
Edit 1: now the OEM unlock is gone from developers options after flashing magisk again :scared:
Edit 2: After uninstalling magisk from magisk manager app
, phone went to bootloop. So I flashed stock rom "bl,ap,cp,csc" with odin again and the greyed out oem unlock is back with status "bootloader is already unlocked"
Any hint guys?
Just a hint would be enough!
Its a one way process from what I understand.
Anybody will want it locked because without it locked you cant use Knox or any of the payment apps that depend on Knox.
I could be wrong but this is what I feel.

How to downgrade to oneui 3.0 or 2.5 from oneui 3.1

hello guys , i need some help .
my device is s10e,G970U1 with unlocked bootloader. today i flashed the bl,ap,cp,and csc from oneui3.1 by odin ,and i get a locked bootloader ,so i want to downgrade to the unlocked bootloader,is here anyway to do that .
maybe i do not need the twrp but magisk is a necessity ,but i cannot flash the patched ap in odin ,what can i do now .
i just unblocked the bootloader at feb 14 ,and now i can not use it ,i am not felling well lol.
I haven't figured it out - trying to flash TWRP or flash the Magisk AP soft bricks. The UI 3.1 bootloader version is 5, and the old one is 4 and it won't let you downgrade since it is, technically, locked now. Though KNOX is still obviously tripped, so samsung pay still doesn't work on my watch.
I don't think it can be unlocked again.
G9700 Snapdragon with OneUI 3.1 and bootloader 5 is working with Magisk v22 and OEM unlock too...

If bootloader is same that you want to downgrade to then yes. If your bootloader upgraded from let's say U1 to U2 or S1 to S2 then no you cannot downgrade back to U1 or S1. And on 3.1 on some devices you do lose the bootloader unlock I believe.

Samsung pay didn't work because Knox was tripped, and it still doesn't work on my phone even after being re-locked.
Given the update apparently bypasses the token used to unlock the bootloader, I think we are SOL. People waited years for such an option, and apparently Samsung is working to lock that down.
Now I need to consider if I want to drop $350 for a new S10e still on original firmware, and then another $75 to unlock. I suppose if I can get $150 for my current phone that's not an awful deal.

They are out there. Some new and refurbs for $250-$350.
In any event, I had mixed feelings about rooting in the first place. I pretty much only used it to limit constantly charging my phone to 100% every night. Not going to throw any more money at a phone already over 1.5 years old. A few years from now, I'll probably regret losing root.
hello, I have Galaxy S10E (Snapdragon) SM-G970W with bootloader v6, can anyone help me to unlock this so I could able to flash custom from, TIA.
