Front Camera popping up while web browsing - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

The camera opened for a second then immediately recessed when I went to open a website in the browser. Has anyone else have this happen? I was pretty shocked when I saw this. I tried to replicate it by opening the same website, but the camera didn't do anything.
Talk about a WTF moment!

LOL, that's a new one. Have not heard of it...

You should quickly check your logs for what triggered the front camera. It could be an app spying on you...

[Q] A cpl WP7 questions

I browsed and couldn't find if these were already answered, but here I go. Using DVP.
1) Contacts pictures when they call, even when they are pinned to tile on home screen are blurry. Is this a WP7 issue? The pictures are not the issue, they were taken with Sony NEX5, and are good quality. I emailed an original pic for one, and then did a Zune sync with the other.
2) My browser bounces around. If I am reading an article, the browser pops down about 1/3 of a page, like it's scrolling, and then pops back into place. Any site, no rhyme or reason.
I think the blurry pictures thing is a known bug. Check the bugs thread.
As the browser thing, I've never heard of that one before. But you never know, sometimes my phone's camera button won't wake it up, and I've never seen that bug noted anywhere else either.

The picture issue is not a bug of the phone but a limitation of google (or windows live)
The pictures are scaled down considerably by google when the contacts are synced and these synced pictures hence look distorted..

That's because you're covering the proximity sensor with your other hand. That's a feature to sto pthe camera button activating the phone when it's in your pocket. Try using the camera button while keeping your mitts away from the sensor and it'll work every time.

Well lookee here. I'm apparently learning a lot in this thread.
Just tried that, and it worked fine, many thanks.

I was thinking that might be the issue. Is there anything I can do to fix that issue? Or it just is what it is when you sync the accounts? Obviously not a big deal, but a little annoying.
As for the browser jumping around, I'll get some video of it in action in the next cpl days.

Hangouts does not want to send pics taken with front facing camera

I've encountered a weird bug. Any pictures taken with the front facing camera either through hangouts itself or the camera app, don't seem to be delivered. It says it sent, but my girlfriend does not receive. However sending a picture taken with the normal camera is delivered. Anyone encountered something like this?
I have confirmed that front facing camera pics will send with Textra sms app

KitKat has built in nude selfie prevention technology. Just kidding. I just sent one to my wife and it worked. Must be something on her carrier or phone end. I opened Hangouts and took the pic through the camera button on bottom. Try sending one to someone else and see if you get different result. Also, does she use an iPhone and maybe this is an issue between Hangouts and iOS?

she does use an iphone. Seems odd though that pictures taken with the normal camera will send

That is unusual. Ask her to download the iOS version of Hangouts and see if she will then receive them. If you know a few people with both iOS and Android, try sending a few people one. This could be a way to weed out the exact cause.

Camera defocusing when recording starts

I have noticed this problem a couple month ago but figured only today that I could post here.
So the issue is pretty simple to describe. When recording a movie, the focus moves just a little bit right after I click the record button.
So if get the focus straight before recording, the focus will move and the movie will be blurry.
It seems I can prevent this to happen if I focus manually, hold my finger on screen while I start recording with another finger. But it doesn't work 100%
Am I the only one with this issue? Any idea how to fix it?
When I found this out I was rolling with Chroma, since then I went back to stock but the problem is still there.
Thanks in advance for your help
Nobody?
I noticed a while back that when I take a photo using my text messaging app, it is constantly trying to focus. Yet, when I switch to my actual camera app, it will focus just fine. I would suggest trying a different app. I don't do much video, but I know what you are talking about. Its freaking annoying. Its already focused just fine but then its like it decides to just try again and it takes longer while you're recording. Definitely try a different camera app. There might be one with focus lock or something like that.

Those of you on pie with camera issues, let's make some noise

Those of you who think you solved the problem by "doing a clean flash" feel free to show yourself out, you're not helping us we've already done that. Some of us several times.
OnePlus forums are broken for me, I can't register, it keeps just sending me back to the OP home page. Several people have the same problem there. So this is the last hope for those of us with pie camera issues, I don't know that OP has acknowledged camera issues so if we want any help, the best thing we can do is work together, make some noise, so OP can actually see the problem. Personally, no amount of reflashing, downloading, etc will fix the issue on pie for me. I'm rooted with Magisk and unlocked bootloader obviously, that's it. No kernels or custom "ROM" or anything.
Again, if you've solved it, good for you, get out. You have nothing to contribute to this thread and I know this forum is absolutely loaded with trolls who just blame everyone else for every ROM problem.

Yep, my friend also works in testing firmware and hardware compatibility on android phones and as soon as I told him more than just a few people (I've seen at least 15 different people report this issue, and let's be honest a lot of people won't bother to report it and even more people don't have accounts here to post it if they do have the issue) had it he said sounds like firmware issue, possibly related to hardware revisions.
Boring explanation warning: For example there may be very slight differences in say CPU or camera hardware, enough that it passed bench testing or was supposed to not even require bench testing because it was guaranteed 100% compatible, but as time goes on, maybe just one line of code somewhere does something that causes the very slight difference to manifest itself in a way that becomes apparent to everyday users.
That's just one possibility out of dozens though.
I agree in 100%, it's something broken with camera on Oxygen based on Pie.
I use the stock ROM, i did full wipe etc without positive effects.
We wan't fix or update to use the phone normally...
What is the Camera issue ?
Maybe if you are specific and tell us what is wrong with the Camera ?
How can anybody help if you can not be bothered to say what the problem is ?
.... Do not have kittens, I done a Google search and all I found was several months ago some talk about focusing.
I took some pictures ... not many but so far so good.
I would be more than happy to complain .... what do I look for ?

For example: Snapchat app. After 5s app frozen, black screen. On other phones everything ok...
Oneplus 6 & Tapatalk
For me, when I open snapchat, the camera will usually work for 5 to 20 seconds, no more, then the image freezes for a second before it goes black, and then every app that uses the camera for a little while will freeze/crash. Including the stock camera app if you try to access camera features in those apps.
Say I just turned on my phone, I go to open snapchat and the screen works as a viewfinder like normal for maybe 5-20 seconds, then the image freezes for a second before it goes black. The snapchat app no longer responds. If I try to open the camera in another app (say discord, stock camera app, instagram, etc) that app then freezes too. Half the time the only way to fix it is to force close all involved apps.
It goes back to working again within 5-10 minutes but you only have generally 5-10 seconds to take a picture before it freezes and does the same thing.
Occasionally when I open the stock camera app after snapchat freezes, it closes itself and a little toast notification on the bottom of the screen says "Unknown error". Usually camera app opens fine after that.
I think this tread explains very well and in detail, the REAL problems with OP6...
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-6-camera-takes-blurry-and-noisy-pictures.864226/
Painted faces, lack of detail, wrong temperature colour....etc,etc....
I am also experiencing these issues since i upadated to official Pie, didn't have any problem with DP1 & DP3 thought. Also i only have this on Snapchat, didn't experience any problems with the official camera.
Let's hope it's a known issue and that it will be solved in the next update.
Where exactly do we complain?
I have the same issue as well. My fiance does too. I'm on xXx module with EX kernel and my fiance is 100% stock with a locked bootloader.
I've done a clean flash before as well.
Sounds like it's either a snapchat issue or OP issue. I think there was some notes from other users having issues taking pictures with WhatsApp since pie. Could be related

Try emailing both snapchat support and posting on the OnePlus 6 official forum (on the oneplus website). I feel like it's not snapchat because it's happened on other apps for me.
I am on OB4 and have some other camera issues. When U open the camera app and select Timelapse all I get is the video capture screen and no option to set the time lapse setting. I alse get the standard 1x , 2x zoom option and it all it does is zoomes.
focus sucks
I'm on stock Pie, no root - some examples here how the focus socks: auto mode, (1) normal photo (2)about 3.5 zoom (3)~x5 (4) x8 I have gopro modified handlebar attachment on my bike, so consider it as if those pics were taken still and steady from a tripod.
focus sucks cont.
My phone/camera field stand - 2 pics, the 3rd pick shows zoomed detail of one of the islands there taken with my cheap, pocket Casio EX-ZR800 which has unbelievable zoom: x18 optical + x36 so called 'SR Zoom, does 1000fps as well, 224x64only let's hope they bring some of that technology to phones soon.

After today update i dont have issues with Snapchat.
Wysłane z mojego ONEPLUS A6003 przy użyciu Tapatalka
I also experience trouble with the camera. Zoomed in using snap. When I take pictures with stock camera app the shutter seems rly slow. Bad focus etc. Everything worked fine before Android pie. Good thread!
I was waiting to see if it would immediately **** up after I posted this, but it's been a few days since the last snapchat update and I no longer have the problem at all, at least that I ever noticed.

Same here. At first I thought it's cause I don't let it focus anymore since that causes the issue but it seems to be resolved for now. Now time for the rest of the pie issues to be fixed.
Agree. Happening with all the apps which use the system's camera. However, If we use the Camera app then it will work. but any 3rd party app that uses system camera it got stuck and crash.

Question Is anyone else having this issue with the camera?

So I finally got an s22 ultra after the whole fiesta was Samsung locking my previous phone because the person I bought it off of scammed me. Only to find out I can't take a video of anything at all unless I restart my phone.
If I open my camera on my phone and I hit the record button it'll act like it's recording but if you look up at the top the timer has not started and then if you click stop to go and verify if it threw something in the gallery as if you actually recorded something nothing is there. So I know it's not actually recording.
Here's a link to a YouTube video that kind of shows exactly what I'm talking about pay attention to the top where the timer is when you click the record button the timer doesn't start and it's not recording.

Yep this was an issue last update as well as this one. Current version: S908U1UEU2AVDC. I guess I worded my question wrong I know I'm not the only one with this issue I just more or less want to know if anybody has insight on if they fixed it or not. Because if you do a quick Google search of s22 ultra camera issues there's a whole slew of articles and post on samsung.com forums of people griping about this very issue except none of the articles seem to give a resolution that works and samsung.com forum mods are completely unhelpful
Can't replicate that issue. If you clear app cache and or system cache does the issue return?

Just tried mine. Counter is working.
Just an FYI so Samsung did confirm it was an issue select individuals are facing. They will be addressing it in the next update according to several Samsung news websites including this one pictured below
New firmware today. Thought I heard it had something with the camera. AVE4 for T-Mo
