I found the following procedure to root my Honor 6X, but it seems to not list a few steps I've seen in other places, such as unlocking the bootloader. Do I need to unlock it with this guide? If so, how do I do so? What else is missing?
Guide: huaweiflash.com/how-to-root-huawei-honor-6x/
Thanks.

The first step in this procedure is install TWRP. If you followed the link on how to install TWRP then you wouldn't be asking this question.
The first step actually isn't TWRP but unlocking the bootloader, mandatory in way to proceed with everything else. Since that Crapwei has stopped support in doing so, you'll need to pay 3/4$ to third-party services (like DC-Phoenix in example, a service used by a lot of users here since that it's working and low cost) in way to unofficially unlock it. Just google for or search here on XDA some 'bout
Thanks for all the help guys!

I wish to unlock the bootloader of my Huawei U8950-1 (G600). I have received the unlock codes from Huawei and the instructions are listed on this link : http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/servicePolicy.do?method=getUnlockStep
As I have no experience of doing somthing like this I wish if any one could guide me about the procedure. I have a lot of querries about what is mentioned in the instruction.
I also found some links on this forum but did not get much help.
Unlocked my Bootloader, entirely in Linux. No need to download anything from outside.
All files were available in their repo.
Now can any one advise me for the next step to root the phone ?

First of all, never use KingRoot. Secondly, do you have an unlocked bootloader. If yes, I may be able to help. If not, unlock bootloader first.
Google it and follow the steps.
Lemme know if you need more info.

Just search forum and google to find way to unlock bootloader. It's hard to tell actual step by step thing because some methods don't work for all.
You can also search from honor 4x and p8lite forums.
I'll try.

Hello all.
I attempted to flash a ROM a while back and failed miserably. All I managed to do in the end was unlock the bootloader. I would like to change this, and set things back to they way they were; locked bootloader.
Is there anyway to achieve this? I would like to be able to use apps like Uber that won't work with an unlocked bootloader.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Hello I think this could help you
https://youtu.be/8OywEYZ2cbw
This is a video about how to rebrand your mate 9
Now it in the steps it says that after you use the options 2 to rebrand it relock your bootloader, I don't know what mate you have but since you probably installed a custom recovery it is why you can't relock with the command, so my suggestion is this download the WHOTA update and also install the the software finder via Google Play. With it look for your specific model and copy the links to download the files for your specific model in your PC, Also do a Backup of your Oeminfo via the TWRP since it will be the only file you won't find, probably (if it happens to be the MHA-L09 C605 send it to me I need it for my phone I made the mistake of not backing up my Oeminfo).
If you download the files and follow the instructions of the video you will be able to relock your bootloader. But watch it 3 times and also download all the files and make sure to back up everything in your PC if something goes wrong.

just flash your oeminfo.bin file again and your bootloader will be locked.. make sure its for your model!

Thanks guys. I've found a fairly simple solution.
This is the solution that worked for me.
1. Type "fastboot oem relock (your phone's unlock code)" and select unlock or yes with volume buttons & power.
Hopefully this method will help others.

Hcu-client (A tool by DC unlocker) worked fine last I tested it, was on MHA-L29C432B373
Just flash ur oeminfo.bin file to re lock ur boot loader.. Its that easy. But u lose all ur files cos phone resets
I don't know what to do update emui 8 because bootloader is lock and I can't unlock bootloader tell me please. ?
Now that bootloader unlock isn't supported by Huawei you can only rely on using some third-party services like DC Phoenix, the cost is something about 4€. Sadly if you don't have a code you need to get one in way to install EMUI 8.
What's your build number?

Ok, here's what you have to do: first of all, unlocking bootloader is mandatory in way to proceed to next steps.
Then, you have to debrand your device to the correct variant, BLN-L22C675XXXX, following this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/guide-debranding-to-india-variant-bln-t3679402
And last, once debranded you can update to EMUI 8 following steps listed here https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/update-bln-l22c675-emui-5-x-x-to-emui-8-t3819317
Just pay a lot of attention and make things with calm, in way to avoid unpleasant issues. Good luck and happy flashing

I'm looking to purchase this tablet, but want to be sure I can root it before doing so.
The one I'm looking at has the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T processor
I just want to be sure i can remove any factory installed apps, and can install magisk (or similar for tablet) and adblock.
i don't necessarily care about a custom ROM, but lineageOS or AOSP would be a good option, if available.
Thanks

The second response on the FAQ for this model has some good information about rooting. The process should be the same if you have the Official global version.

Don't worry about OEM unlocking
Just go ahead and go to bootloader and enter
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
and you're greeted with a bootloader unlock warning

Not in my case. Without the ability to toggle OEM unlocking in settings, all efforts to unlock via fastboot (and everything else I tried) were unsuccessful.
i gave up and returned it.
Hopefully @jacobobbo has better luck than I did.

I'd use P11 Pro OG if you want to root it because I did it on mine to fix cable content stuttering problem
I don't care L1/L3 because I don't play Netflix on it

Yes, I tried several times. Nothing happened. It just doesn't unlock the bootloader.
There is another thread I've posted to about this with more stories from others.
I don't think there is much risk of bricking your device, but it is just unlikely to get rooted.
But, maybe you find something I did not and you will be successful.
I really liked the tablet, but refuse to be crippled by a manufacturer that pretends to be protecting me from ... I'm not sure what.
I rooted mine and it was a mistake.
I do not really gain anything out of it and now I cannot update my device anymore.
Do not do it.
