[WIP]Arc / Neo Camera App on Play

First things first: Im not a code guru - I just have some expirience on other android devices and can't promise that my attempts will work succesfully.
So I'm trying to port the camera app from the Arc to our Play.
Looks like we will need to modify the libs, as the camera installs flawless but gives errors on start "No camera found".
Only tried the Arc app, as I didnt get my hands on the Neo dump yet.
Here the zip with (i hope) all libs and the apk itself.

Attempt #1
Copy & Paste all camara related libs from the arc to the play
FAILED - if you overwrite the play-own cameralib.so the phone hungs up in a bootloop.

That sounds cool. I'll take that the arc camera interface is custom made and not as ours the native android?

Their custom app for the cam looks more cool and sofar i know has more options (or atleast they are better sorted)

If some of the real devs can make the libarys accept 720p recording, probably yes. as the camera seems to be capable to record in that high res. (eg. the htc desire has also a 5mp cam and record 720p flawlessly)

Can you make R the shutter button and maybe L just focussing?

im also working on remapping the buttons, im seeing how the market camera apps remap buttons and working from there.

hold on, did you fix permissions after copying/pasting? thats the only reason i can see why you ended up in a boot loop.

ok, i spent all day on this, i managed to remap the camera button and its fully working in the native camera app, theres still a bug i need to figure out, the bug is that if you keep hold of the R button, it focuses but doesnt take a picture.
also, i managed to get the arc camera app working, you have to remove ALL old camera related stuff and replace it with the arcs stuff, then double check permissions.
theres still bugs, none of the features in the arcs camera app work, it FC's if you even try to take a picture.
im rewriting the all of the libs, ill post with updates & uploads tommorow

I second that ! great idea

I spent a few days on this when the arc and play were rooted.. think we will be able to get this working but need to wait until we can get some custom kernel action as there seems to be a link to the arc in the app... or possibly someone smarter then me can break the .apk apart (easy) and find the expression etc that limits its use to neo/arc (the hard part)

Its the stock android camera app, still they removed the the zooming slider for the sake of the front-face camera changer icon thingy stuff...whatever ^^;

Instructions
1. Download and Flash zip through recovery
2. It is a common issue that superior auto and manual are broken, as well as constant force closing of the cameraui and the camera common if you happen to encounter this make shortcuts of all camera apps provided on the home screen of your launcher. Then disable cameracommon and semccamera under the all apps tab in settings. Adding of the shortcuts can be done on pretty much any launcher you will have to locate it for your respective launcher. The shortcut is labeled Camera and from there you select the needed apps. (IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE TO ADD SHORTCUTS BEFORE DISABLING CAMERA COMMON, AS THE SHORTCUT DISAPPEARS ONCE DISABLED)
3. Enjoy the Slew of new Sony Apps on AOSP

not everything works well with ART (so dont blame me if problems arise when using ART)

As of now no but im looking to iron out bugs specific to the HONAMI(this device), YUGA(xperia Z), As well as possibly the SIRIUS(Z2) when some asop roms start to show

OK I have to tell you that you did a great job! I was waiting for such a port from the beginning
I'm now on carbon rom and almost everything is working.... Except of main camera every add on like motion shot, defocus, etc are working nice but I got force close on main camera auto and manual... If I could get logcat via some app then tell me to do it

Thanks for the feedback but a logcat will not be necessary i am aware of the issues illustrated in your reply and have a logcat from a reliable source already. Am trying o fix the issues but admittedly am experiencing a few issues

Please read the OP.. Which Camera Are u talking about.. Only superior auto and manual are broken (Plz Check Social live, Motion Shot - Known Bug and Sony Select these apps are also not working on my device) rest all apps and Camera apps working fine

Some questions before buying G8142

Greeings, I wish to buy XZ Premium and the model will be g8142 in my country. Before buying I would like to ask some questions.
1. I need to root my device, and it seems that the rooting method only support Android 8.0. So sould I flash stock 8.0 ROM before rooting?
2. I heard that rooting will damage the camera function and make it green screen or something. Camera is a very important part to me and I wish to retain the original quality as the unroot stock ROM. Is there any way to fix it?
3. LG's app will crash if I change the resolution in terminal. Will Sony's apps crash or cannot be used if I change the resolution to 1080p and also lower the DPI?
4. Anything else that need to be noticed after rooting and need to be fixed?

Hello to can root your device and if you unlock the bootloader some fonctions will stop working but we have a fix for that and for the resolution it's normal they are many app who doesn't even support 1440p

1. You can root any ROM, just flash magisk in twrp.
2. There are drm fixes available, e.g. Janjan's kernel, xperifix.
3. You can change the screen resolution to 4k in adb but not every app is working. No need to change, default 1080p is all right.
4. Every time you have to update the software manually and apply drm fix if you unlock the bootloader. Android Pie is probably going to be the last major update for the phone. There are not many custom roms out there.

2. What drm fix does is that it tricks the phone to think that the bootloader is not unlocked. You can check *#*#7378423#*#* and then service info, configuration, it will say bootloader unlocked allowed: no. But you are still running the phone with an unlocked bootloader.
3. The phone will stay at 1080p unless there is 4k content, or 1440p content...if you change it in adb, when you press the app switcher button, it will show every app as black colour, no content. I have manually changed it to 1440p before no app crashes, 4k is not good because there might be some issues. So I switched back to default which is 1080p.
To be honest even it is on 1080p the screen looks fantastic. I bought it only because of the screen. Proudly G8142 owner here...

It is the square button on the right hand side of your home button(app switcher). When you press this, all apps become black, you won't see the preview.

Alright. In adb, Is it possible to transfer a .ogg file into system/media/ui without rooting the device and replace the orogonal one? I want to replace a ui sound file with a .ogg file. Thanks a lot

i can mod MiuiCamera apk to unlock some disabled by default features like night mode for front camera, boost hdr level, add more filters and etc, but for now i have locked bootloader. However i can make flashable Twrp and post here ??

Whatever can make my phone take better pictures while a real Gcam mod is available for this phone.

Does anyone know what the settings do? I noticed that disabling the settings above and below the setting with the chinese characters slows down taking photos, but also slightly improves the photo quality.

I have tried this in my Mi 9 Lite, but I don´t see anything happen, nothing with the folder and no more settings. I already had all settings shown in your pic.
Maybe I misunderstood what you mean by "force close". Could you explain'?
Edit: Disregard from above question. English is not my native language, so I had a confusion on terminology. Still, nothing happens when I force stop.

What are MFNR, SR, Magic Tools and Quickshot?

i would really appreciate that some pro might explain all those hidden setting how it works

I wanted to give it a shot to see if there are any improvements and surprisingly it seems much smoother compared to previous versions and the best part is that it's compatible with Quick-Step so all gestures work correctly. You get a dark Google feed and it doesn't seem to be as slow and glitchy as it has been in the past. Also an update to the camera app is available as well that comes with a few new tricks as well! Does anyone know what phone these are pulled from?

Yep, once the app is "upgraded" (becomes a version other than the stock one (usually the one provided most recently through software updates from LG), a small menu becomes available in the app settings (ie App Info > Camera). This menu allows you to uninstall updates to the application and revert to stock.
I just uninstalled the latest camera update (the one listed here) since it didn't really change picture quality and has an icon for "Show new features" that crashes the app. I did update "Home" though and it feels a little better.

Weird, I don't have that icon. The Manual focus seems to be improved, and if you swipe and hold the shutter button left/right, or pinch the screen with a gesture it switches between wide and normal lenses. I don't remember if the previous version worked like that. I feel like AI mode works much smoother, and portrait mode with it's blur adjustment function is improved, but it could just be in my head.

You have to be rooted on Pie and have the Quickstep Magisk Module installed. Using a launcher other than the LG Home launcher, open the Quickswitch app and select LG Home as your recents provider. The module will run a script and reboot your phone. Once your phone restarts, then set LG home as your default launcher.

camera is worse and for sure is from another device

It's definitely for a different device, but I've had nothing but good results.

I've downloaded both & Home launcher works fine but the camera is not supported completely, Night mode doesn't work, Camera is Slightly good but I found buggy were I a line on pic. so better stay on original version and wait for Android 10 update.​

The LG Bridge suite, the program to backup via pc. Ucant backup or restore if have this istalled, the program detects an alteration. This is my experience.
