Hi, I have the G7 power (model XT 1955-4) for 2 days, and something very strange happens to me,
Suddenly the phone to introduce the unlock by fingerprint or by pin, I constantly restarted and I can not continue, I get the message of activated motorcycle options,
I already did a cleanup from the Recovery model and I can't fix it,
I'd appreciate your help
That's an absolutely terrible bug never fixed by Motorola (AFAIK). This is what happens:
If I change "Default USB configuration" and/or animation scales, hours later, when unlocking the phone by using my fingerprint or PIN, in a random moment, the phone reboots and softbricks. After that, the only way to recover from this situation is making a factory reset and not changing those settings unless your life depends on it.
It's sad, but unless this is solved by Motorola or any kind developer, this is the only way I found out to prevent the phone from becoming useless.
I changed the animation scales with no issues a few weeks ago. You guys are just running unrooted stock I assume?

Sometimes I unlock my phone and the screen remains black, then the phone reboots but weirdly it doesn't ask for the SIM pin number. Other times I notice the phone reboots by itself and I notice it because obviously the screen lights up during the boot animation. This happens very rarely, so far it has happened about 3 to 5 times in a couple of months but it's still mega annoying when it happens.
Does it happen only to me? Is there any way to troubleshoot this issue?

If you provide some logs then maybe someone can see what is happening....
Or even basic information, like the configuration and setup of your device.
Right, forgot my configuration. I have an unbranded Z3 on latest Lollipop (but I recall I had a reboot also on Kitkat), no root, no weird apps like task killers or antivirus or anything like that. Sometimes it just does a reboot by itself, but doesn't ask for pin number so it's not a full reboot.
How do I provide logs again?

Factory Reset can solve ur problem /based on personal experience
I did that already less than two months ago and I refuse to believe I have to factory reset this thing every month to get stable operation. Also I'm not even rooted and I haven't messed with the system itself so why would I need to factory reset? Factory reset implies that there is something that has changed and needs to be re-set, and I haven't changed anything special that would require such a drastic solution. Not having done anything special, the issue would come back sooner or later if I don't spot the real cause.
Anyway, in diagnostics I have 21 application incidents for systemUI... Could it be caused by a bugged theme? Does this happen to anyone else?
Today I had two and I had another one last week. A off these were weird half reboots like I described above. I only noticed one because I was at my desk and the phone lighted up for the boot animation.
These reboots show up in diagnostics (phone info menu) as system events. Can you please check out if you have any system events and post here? I want to know if this is a widespread problem. Post here if you have any and also if you have a solution or way to troubleshoot.
Nobody at all? Really?
Prior to 5.1.1, every time the phone was idle for a short period of time the lock screen would appear and, when I was home, SmartLock left it unlocked, most of the time, but it always appeared. Since upgrading to 5.1.1, the lock screen rarely appears anymore and, when I’m away from home, since the lock screen rarely appears anymore, my phone is often unlocked and unlocked without a lock screen and having my phone unlocked is a big security issue . I don’t know if this is related to 5.1.1 or, perhaps, a recent Google Play Services update (since Google Play Services is responsible for so many things nowadays, I assume it’s suspect).
Anyone else have this issue/know of a possible fix? Thanks.
Bump. Is no one else having this issue? The lock screen for everyone works perfectly on 5.1.1?
Yes, since 2 weeks ago. Any solution?
None that I know of—I still have the problem.
Just chiming in to say this issue appears to be largely resolved since Android 6.0.

Resolved? Apparently not that largely. Such issue started 24 hours ago on my 6.0.1 device. Unable to lock screen despite pattern (or whatever chosen) is correctly set. No "smart lock" option is used, BTW; Though lock screen often appears but only when shutting down and restart the phone, not by rebooting it. Looked exhaustively for a common fix, but everyone suggests the same old, clear caches, credentials and device administrator thing. That is NOT working here. Safe mode says nothing's wrong with apps causing the flaw either. Yes, I'm rooted, on Xposed and all that stuff, as always. Probably it is related somehow; however, issue has never ever showed on any other device I had, and I had two previous on 6.0.1 as well. If anyone has a different hint on the subject, well it'll be well appreciated.
Sent from my Moto G4 Plus using XDA Labs
has anyone run across this issue when you set a specific time out, the screen dims after the specified time but does not lock, it stays on?
my phone was working just fine, stock not rooted, took the latest update and after that i've been having nothing but weird issues, the other day the notification area at the top was not working, i had to basically check every app, messages etc manually to see updates, had to factory reset the damn thing, now this screen issue, the phones is only 1 month old.
any input?
thanks
I'm having very weird issues with screen lock. I'm be on the phone and the device will randomly lock and not let me unlock it without restarting the phone.
The new update is when it all started. I don't want to do a factory reset, but it's looking like I might have to?
I've been having problems with device Encryption and the external storage not mounting, but I recently noticed that after enabling Secure Startup on my Galaxy S7 Edge running 6.0.1 for Verizon and left at this screen for longer than a minute without touching it, a clicking sound as if you were pressing buttons or entering the pattern can be heard. It's continuous and clicks every other second. I Reset All Settings, Reset Network Settings and even applied updates as well as restarted the phone after turning Secure Startup off and back on, but it's still happening. Not exactly sure if this is expected, but I couldn't imagine it would be, especiall due to the fact it's really audible. Any advice or suggestions would be great! I'm really at my wits end with this phone and I'm ready to throw it away. The encryption problem I had originally (found here: SD Card No Longer Available (Encrypted) After Firmware Update) is still an issue even after applying the latest updates and I can't afford to lose all the data on my SD card again.

I've been using the Pixel 3 for a few days. Today, it apparently rebooted itself overnight.
I knew because two things happened. 1) My alarm did not go off, 2), when I opened the phone it requested pattern unlock rather than fingerprint since it had been restarted.
The strange thing is that the startup process was "frozen" until I authenicated with the pattern unlock. Bluetooth devices like my watch were disconnected . Once I unlocked, I saw Bluetooth connect, and apps and notifications started loading and appearing.
My experience with prior Android phones is the system will fully load background tasks and apps when restarted, even if the user doesn't unlock it.
Is this something new for Anroid 9 or the Pixel? Is there any way to allow everything to load on restarts?
Is there any logging (other than ADB debug) that can identify the cause of spontaneous reboots?

This is normal. Until you unlock it,there's only a few things that will be available. Phone calls come to mind as one of them. Anything like Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, your bluetooth devices or any other apps won't have notifications until you unlock it. It's different than it used to be. It's a security thing. That said, I'm surprised the alarm won't work since it's a system app. I don't use it very often so I don't know it that's normal or not. From what I've read though, most apps aren't allowed to load completely after rebooting until you unlock the phone.
