We can Record video on the Wide Angle lens! - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi again! I can believe that OP didnt give us the option to record video with the wide angle lens. I've found it very useful. So, searching a little bit, i find this code *#*#1597#*#* that you put in dialer, to open de developer camera api.
Digging into the app, i realize that you CAN record 1080p video with the wide lens, so.. theres any mod to skip this awful step, copying the code, everytime i wanna use this function?
I dont know why we dont have this option native in the app.
PS: sorry for my bad english!

What are you talking about? I dont understand. The black background on a portrait mode is a Samsung Feature, for example.

You're holding it wrong.
Why won't phone manufacturers fix this obvious problem?
IE, when the phone is held vertically the capture is still a proper 16x9 wide screen?
Vertical video capture is ruining everything!

Hey! Calm down. That was just a test. I think we would be more open mind. Some content its better to see in horizontal, other content its better in vertical. Im a photographer and sometimes, there are stories that are better to told in vertical, cuz i wanna told you something in that form, for example, this pics here: the vertical one, have a special touch, a unique point of view im comparison to the horizontal one

Sorry if I came off sounding harsh, it's a major pet peeve of mine!
Still photos in portrait orientation are fine obviously.
It's the video that's the issue.
A simple solution to this problem can be fixed on all devices, not sure why the manufacturers don't implement it!

Hey! Hello!
You have to open the front camera and switch again to rear camera. You will see in red (Wide).

[Q] Better way to take photos with the default camera app?

I feel like this is a really silly question and a forum search yielded no one with the same question so it seems like I might just be missing something obvious!
Is there not an easier way to take a photo than to have to hit the little small "capture" icon when you're using the camera app? It works fine when you're taking a photo normally but when you either do a self camwhore shot or taking a photo of you and someone else, you face the camera towards you and then you can't see where the capture button.
I've been making due by putting my fingers really close to the button and then flipping the phone over and trying to get two of us in the photo just to realize that my finger didn't hit the capture button.
The front facing camera is awful but that makes sense.
I would have thought something as basic as double tapping or holding the screen would take a photo but that doesn't seem to work for me.
Thanks!
I would think the easiest way would be to use the self-timer feature

[Q] 3,4 pictures in ONE photo?

is there any application of there besides " INSTAGRAM " that can do this? Because of course i don't have an iPhone....i really hope that there is a photo editing app that can do this!
I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I'll give it a go.
If you mean HDR (taking a very dark picture and a very light picture of the same thing to combine them for more detail) then you can try Pro HDR camera on the market.
If you mean taking several pictures and combining them into a single larger picture (kind of like a panorama), then I don't know of one that does that, but someone else may.

look in the market and search photo stich, you will find several. For example photo stich lite can join 2 pictures, for more pictures you need the pro version. Or Photaf 3D Panorama.
Photoshake is the best!
Search the Market for Photo Grid...

Aspect Ratio Fix?

Is there any way to fix the aspect ratio when in certain video apps, like Netflix, Plex, or when watching a video through the browser, would seem to be a bit handy. Haven't found anything on this yet.

Try to use the game launcher. If you open game launcher and click add app then add the plex to the list, then hold on it, it should say list as a game app.... Then you should be able to do full screen when u launch the game
Edit: I tried with showbox it didn't work, maybe with plex u can make it work

You can force any app that exists to be fullscreen by tapping a cyan-colored circle that appears when you press the app switcher button, the circle appears below the X button in the app card. But I think OP means having a feature that crops out videos to fill the entire screen, that feature needs official support to work.

Oh I didn't know you can do that in the recent menu thank you... what was I talking here is about cropping I thought that it would also crop the video to fit the screen by doing that
I think there is some confusion between "filling the display", and changing the aspect ratio. I'm interested in this device. I went to Best Buy and held one in my hand. It's impressive, but it's shaped funny. Tall and slim. Great if you're a model, unusual if you're a smart phone. If you "fill the display", (which is really your only choice), you're going to crop the image. This is due to the unusual dimension of the display. I don't know of any other devices, TVs, tablets, or phones, with similar relative dimensions. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but I am saying it's a bit unusual. I haven't taken the leap yet because I need an unlocked, dual sim device, but while I wait, I wonder if the Note 8 will have a more conventionally shaped display........

Camera color correction settings

Hello,
Today i purchased a Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB model. I was a proud owner of the Google Pixel XL.
There is one thing bugging me on the 2 XL. Whenever i take photos using the stock camera app with the front facing camera the lighting corrects in such a weird way so photos look really weird.
This also happens with other apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Does anyone know if i can turn off color correction for just the camera or something?
Thanks in advance!
Please upload an example of your issue.

Please see the YouTube link below - I believe they address the issue of pics taken vs. pics viewed via phone display vs. pics viewed via Instagram/Snapchat. This critique is towards the end of video

Color correction
The video didnt come close to the actual problem im having.
For example when i try to make a selfie using snapchat or instagram, before i take the picture my face has pale natural color which is perfect. when i took the picture and look it up in my Photo gallery it just looks awful.
My skin color turned greyish. This has nothing to do with the lighting in the area im in. Ive tried many different areas when taking pictures and they all result in the same weird greyish color
Pics or it didn't happen...
There is some known issue's with Pixel 2 and will be fixed by releasing patch and this would be a permanent solution.
Take a picture with hdr+ off and see if there any difference.
Here are some examples
This one is a picture before it has actually been taken, so its a preview

This is the actual saved picture
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1G2KVE_I0oeCKC9lp4hNHzo6YfhhWlshing
As you can see it has some difference and the saved picture just looks worse.
Another example.

Did you reboot? This is, I think, the way it works.
The Visual Core you enabled doesn't work for the viewfinder preview in non-stock-camera apps, and I'm not sure it ever will.
Either turn hdr off in these apps if you prefer the blown-out look, or use the stock app and add to instagram app

I honestly don't see the issue in your samples. The only thing I noticed is that you're using snap chat which takes terrible low resolution photos. That night be one reason why the image looks so bad.
its a problem of snapchat, try taking pic in instagram with pixel core on , instagram, facebook, twitter take awesome photos but snapchat its a trash

New HDR function in Photo mode

HI, I've a CLT-L29C432 with FW 8.1.0.156(patch3)
I've noticed that now, but in the photo mode only, there is a powerful HDR on by default, and cannot be selected if on or off, the only way to have a "clean" shot, without HDR, is to use the PRO mode.
It works only with main sensor and not with Front camera nor with the tele-zoom camera.
This photo+HDR mode maybe is available by the last firmware update (156-p3) because I never noticed it before.
I don't know if this feature is known or not, so I decided to open a specific thread about this.
I've done some shots to demonstrate the differences
the darker shot is in pro mode ( the nearer light condition to real vision )
the lighter shot is in photo mode (+HDR hidden future) and you can see is a little more blurry than others
the in between shot is in Night mode , less blurry but also with less light and a better color handling.
there is also a shot in HDR mode from other presets page that has less light but it's sharper than photo mode + HDR
I think that this powerful feature is a little ruined in night shots during the camera status " don't move - sharpening your photo" message ( that also usually causes blurry photos also without HDR)
Other shots indoor scene
Are you sure it's not the AI that kicks in and the second picture is not using the night mode as it was triggered as I said by the AI?
Its not some hidden hdr feature. The iso now jumps all the way to 1lakh in low light hence producing very bright pics.
This happens only with 10mp camera (never with 40mp camera).
This is because the 10mp camera also use the black and white sensor to retrieve more informations and give you a boosted photo.
I don't like most of the time these photos.
You can't disable this!

Yes : I forgot to say that it works only in 10mp (like almost everything)
Photo mode is intended for a sort of point and shot if you don't want this you can use pro mode that has no AI or HDR and you can take very nice auto pictures or twick them manually.... And 40mp as well
PRO mode should be the default mode for an advanced phographer.
What I think that huawei should only let the user be able to set by default the preferred mode ... But not eliminate this hdr future or AI at all

In .156 patch 3 firmware, you loose the 4d predictive focus. The .157 firmware coming soon but don't fix the 4d predictive focus according to Huawei customer service.
Hehe, guys, it's there since .131.... Huawei is constantly working on it, the camera got lots of improvements since the release. Yes, they mess up the 4D focus from time to time but it's working great in the Android 9 Beta. So stay tuned!

Wow, I have speak with other guy in this forum and for him also not working. It is very interesting because few people complaining regarding this issue on. 156 firmware. You are very lucky then. ?
This is actually not HDR although the results look similar. What you are looking at here is the full effect of pixel binning in action, where four pixels are stacked together into one which in effect is boosting the dynamic range of the sensor by some clever algorithms. The end result is that highlights are rescued from being overblown and shadows are also rescued from being too dark. You end up with a evenly balanced exposure which has the same look and feel of a HDR. But this is pixel binning as it should work.

IMHO, pixel binning is the same of hdr: multiple shots are multiple pixels or not? ?
