MCTE_MX, resetting to factory still keep some settings, carplay/android not working - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hi guys,
I've got an Astra J with a MTCE-MX headunit installed and I'm having some issues with the carplay adapter as I'm now getting a grey screen every time the phone is connected, it also happens to Android with android Auto. It used to work fine, but as I was playing with some settings and trying to configure the head unit properly it eventually started doing this grey screen and never came back. I've reset the device to factory using the menus, which wiped all user data but it seems it keep some car settings and I cannot reset those to factory. I found a factory reset option under vehicle settings which goes into some hidden configuration screen where I can choose car logo and some other bits, after that it restarts but it doesn't reset the settings to factory.
I'm wondering what can I do here? I'm suspecting my USB cable inside the dash may have gone faulty, but then I should not have both iphone and android detecting carplay/androidauto fine I guess?

Car Bluetooth not detecting my S7

Hi All,
Not sure if this is possible, but thought its worth asking...
I've upgraded from the S6 to the S7 and we couldn't get the Bluetooth to detect in the car.
It doesn't appear in the list, the S6 worked just fine - or so I thought...
I had the S6 originally configured with Lollipop and the OTA pushed me to Marshmallow, didn't have any issues with Bluetooth - until I wiped the S6 to factory settings and attempted to connect my car.
The S6 on MM didn't find the car Bluetooth, I downgraded to Lollipop on the S6 and I was able to detect and connect to the Car Audio successfully. I've upgraded to MM now after being successfully paired to the car and everything is fine with the S6.
I really want to get this up and running on my S7 - otherwise I'll need to sell it and replace it with something else... As most of you are aware MM is the first release on the S7 so I can't downgrade... I tried it on a Nexus 6P with MM, that worked just fine, it might be a touchwiz thing?
I don't think the car is capable of a firmware upgrade to fix this - its a BMW 118i 2008 with the "Professional Radio"
I've searched a few forums - no such luck finding one.
Guys, I'm open to suggestions to try and make this work...
I've tried Bluetooth apps in the play store, no luck so far, I've tried clearing the cache as I've read in a post, I've reset the phone twice...
The S6/S7 is not rooted, not sure if there are any ROMs out there or modem upgrades that could possibly resolve this.
Thanks all,
I am aware you already cleared cache, but just to make sure everything here is tried at the same time in the same run.
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Application Manager
Find Bluetooth and Force Stop it
Now clear the cache and data
Now find Bluetooth Share and repeat the same process
Reboot and start the next section
Now you'll need to make sure you're trying to pair it correctly with your vehicle
Insert remote control all the way into the ignition lock
Switch on ignition without operating the brake or clutch or pressing the start/stop button
Press the Menu button
Press the controller to open the "i" menu
Select "Settings" and press the controller
Select "Bluetooth" and press the controller
Move the highlight marker to the second field from the top, select "Phone" and press the controller.
Select "Pair new phone" and press the controller
Select "Start pairing" and press the controller
The bluetooth name of the vehicle should now be displayed on your phone
That is taken directly from your manual I believe. If that still doesn't work are you sure that you don't have too many devices paired to your car? Try deleting an old phone or two from your car to see if that clears things up.
Also, I do think you are able to do updates for your vehicle.

Bluetooth suddenly stopped working, can pair with devices but not connect.

I'm not sure what exactly happened but I've been pairing with my old Nexus through bluetooth for a while now with no problems, and suddenly I stopped being able to connect to it or any other device. I can turn on bluetooth, see devices, and even pair but when I press on a device name to connect it says "connected" for about half a second and then disconnects immediately. Thought it was the Nexus but I am unable to connect to any other devices.
I tried rebooting, un-pair and re-pair, clearing bluetooth cache/data, clearing dalvik, but nothing.
The weird thing is that this actually happened a while back, and when I turned off developer mode it started working again. But now that's not doing anything.
I saw that there are a few old threads about others with bluetooth problems. Has there been a fix for this?
I'm running RR on 6.0.1.
Thanks in advance!
I'm writing a cordova app that was starting bluetooth just fine until, without any known change, it suddenly just hangs and my gui just sits there like duh forever. note 4 android 6 cant root it so ive got the bloat and the upgrade cycle slooowdown

Major Bluetooth Issues on 9.5.10 International Version

Long story short have a TMo 7Pro that I converted to the international version. Running firmware 9.5.10.
I have searched the forum, I searched online. I cleared the Bluetooth cache and data. I hard reset the network settings for wifi and Bluetooth on that screen and restarted my phone. I did this twice. I even wiped my phone completely.
The issue is, my Bluetooth keeps turning on and off itself. I have watched it do it. My smartwatch (Fossil Q), wireless earbuds (Jabra 65ts) and car all constantly connect and disconnect from Bluetooth.
Sometimes the Jabras will go, connected, no device detected. My car will connect and disconnect on calls and music.
Help. This is an extremely aggravating issue. Once again I have already hard reset the wireless settings for wifi, Bluetooth and whatever have you and wiped the cache and data for Bluetooth specifically.
Thank you.
I have the exact same, watch, and 9.5.10 (not converted though) and have not had this issue. Maybe try clearing cache partition:
Wipe cache partition
Turn off your device.
Press and hold the Volume down and Power button at the same time.
When the OnePlus logo appears, release the Power button, but continue holding the Volume down button.
At the Password screen, enter the Password or PIN number that you use to unlock your device. When done, tap Ok.
Tap English.
Tap Wipe data and cache.
Tap Wipe cache.
Tap Yes to continue.
Tap Reboot to restart the phone.
Thanks friend, I actually just tried that and no dice. It works for a little while everything I do, but then it starts happening again a couple hours later.

Click to collapse
Try this:
Delete your phone profile from your car.
Delete it also from your smartwatch.
Clear cache and data from your phone bluetooth, "forget" both of them from your phone, and reconnect all as new devices.
I hope that works.

Question Android Auto stopped working after Android 13 OTA

Hi,
I just updated to the Android 13 OTA on the S22 Ultra (VZ, USA). All of a sudden my android auto stopped working. Wireless completely. Before AA wireless would connect to my car within a few seconds of my head unit booting up. Now it just waits at "Connecting". It knows my phone is available, but doesn't seem to want to connect.
If I plug in the phone, it works for all of ~20 seconds before disconnecting. If I just simply reconnect the cable it works again, 20-30-40 seconds before disconnecting.
Before the 13 OTA, it was working perfect, no disconnects on wired or wireless. So I 100% know it's not the cable or my headunit. Literally last night it was working, now it's not.
I checked sleeping apps on the phone and AA or Maps is set to never sleep/not optimized. Not sure what else might have changed.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled/cleared cache etc of AA on my phone. still nothing.
I fully reset my headunit to factory settings, I've done the network reset on my phone multiple times. I'd -really- like to avoid having to fully wipe my phone and try from there...
Has anyone run into this on their newly updated S22? Tips?Suggestions?
Thanks!
Me too. S22 ultra. Car is Mercedes A250 e. It's only a few days I have the car and I was able to connect only with usb cable in Android 12. I don't know if it is a limitation of the car not to be able to connect in wireless mode. Yesterday after OTA upgrade to android 13 I get the error unable to connect to android auto in the MBUX of the car.

Allwinner T3 P1 not recognzing iPhone for CarPlay

Hi guys, I updated my Allwinner T3 P1 last week through Android check for updates without installing custom ROM or anything like that, just a regular update.
It turns out that since then my app that I used for Android Auto and CarPlay, which is called TLINK, simply stopped recognizing the iPhone. (Android continues normally). The iPhone connects normally, even charging works normally, but the app fails to recognize it and displays "fails to link, try another usb port". I've tried other ports, cables, apps, even other iPhones and nothing happens.
I did a factory reset and still nothing.
After factory reset, bluetooth also stopped working, now I can't search for bluetooths devices anymore, I also tried go to extra settings > config info > {tick BC7, untick BC6 and BC8} but still, I continue without bluetooth and without CarPlay.
I downloaded a ROM and put it on the pendrive to really try to format the device, but it happens that when I go to car settings > system update nothing happens, as if the option had no action, I pressed multiple times and still does not work.
Can anyone help me with this?
