Version B or C of Zenfone 6 - ASUS ZenFone 6 (2019) Questions & Answers

Hi Guys.
I saw this publication on Ebay and according to its description, the frequency support corresponds to the "B" version of the phone (which supports the LTE band 4), is it already on sale?, until now I've only seen the "A" version:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-ZenFone-6-Desbloqueado-128GB-de-doble-SIM-6-4in-6GB-Ram-48MP-AI-ZS630KL-Negro-/183856126779?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10#viTabs_0
Is it already possible to purchase said phone on a frequency other than the "A" version?.
For comparison sake, here are all phone's versions:
A version:
FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28)
TD-LTE (Bands 38, 40, 41)

EDGE/GPRS/GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz)

If you are here in the states, you want the C. Band 12 is used by T-Mobile, and the MVNO's that run off Tmo service..
Just a FYI

Thanks for the input, I'm not in the states, either version B or C is fine for me (not the A though), from what you're saying it seems that the version C is yet to be released, do you know if version B is already out?.
Thanks in advance.

Version B was available on eBay from various Taiwan sellers.

It's a shame Asus removed band 40 support for versions B and C, while adding 4x4 MIMO for the same. In India, Jio uses band 40, and also 4x4 MIMO. I wonder if using some mods with the NVRAM, it will be possible to enable band 40 in versions B/C.

CDMA variant?
Does anyone know if their might be a CDMA variant in the works?

What on the box would indicate which model you have? I'll post this as a fresh thread actually

I've looked through a few sold eBay posts where the box says 2a black but lacks band 20. I suspect something else on the box is the key to the extra band

Trying to find as well
Any more information on this? I did an online chat with asus. Only way he said to check is in settings, status. I even provided him with the serial number and all. I have yet to open mine because I am contemplating returning it.

No. On the official forum the mod was not helpful

I found some useful information by just reading the book - I've attached an image you might find useful.
The SKU WW which i'd assume is the version A as the other SKU/version doesnt support the bands that version A does.

Model number Asus
I'll have to look into that. I can see if them sku #'s are on the box somewhere

It's on the back of the box where it lists the specs of the handset

2A011ww the "WW" is the SKU i was talking about

Asus model number
Mine says 2A
---------- Post added at 10:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:18 AM ----------
Mine says 2A039WW

The 2a is written on the one with a Chinese language on too though

Asus version
So confusing lol. I just hope there is a way to enable or other LTE bands if I have the wrong model

Using European version in the US?

Hello,
I'm a European living in the US but also spending my time quite a bit in Europe. Therefore I want the dual sim version of the S10e.
Now I'm wondering how bad will it be using the European version in the US in terms of carrier support, reception, functions like WiFi-Calling etc?
As far as my research got me I found that the EU version is called SM-G970F and supports these LTE bands:
1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 17(700), 20(800), 28(700)
Compared to factory unlocked US version:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 46, 66, 71
The US carriers use these LTE bands (bold for main usage):
T-Mobile: 2, 4, 5, 12, 66, 71
Verizon 2, 4, 5, 13, 66
I guess that implies that for instance Verizon is not really usable at all and for T-Mobile I'd only have sort of half the network. Is this correct?
Is there anything else I need to consider before buying?
Thanks guys!

I'm using international version in the US for two weeks now, with Ultramobile (T-Mobile MVNO). I live in NY/NJ area and didn't experience any problems with reception, call quality on network speeds. WiFi Calling works great. On one hand I noticed that S10e shows less 'signal strength bars' than my previous phone (ZUK Z2), but on the other with Samsung I get some reception in placed where Z2 could not connect.
The only problem I've had are delayed notifications when screen is off (or even when app runs in the background). I didn't get notification when someone was calling me on WhatsApp, Signal or Messenger Lite. Only after couple minutes a missed call notification appeared. Turned off battery optimization and memory usage checking for those apps, but that didn't help. Searched the internet and many people have the same problem with Android in general (e.g. my wife experiences same issue with her Nokia 7). One thing that solves the issue is having a permanent VPN connection. I have NordVPN subscription and after turning it on all notifications appear immediately.

I have the SM-G970F with North American CSC but it is TPA (Panama).
I use tmobile and I get LTE+, wifi calling works, Volte (video calling works, HD calling works.
Only thing unfortunately that doesn't work is the "Caller ID and Spam Protection" in call settings. Anyone have a CSC they use that Caller ID and Spam Protection feature works?

Question Which version (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) does ASUS ROG 5 model "i005DA" map to ?

I had asked this on another forum, but did not get a straight forward answer. But I feel this is an important thing to know, so bringing this up again:
I just received the phone. It looks like this is the Tencent version. and the model number is 'i005DA'
If that is true, then according to the ASUS website, The following bands should be accessible:
5G (Bands N1, N2, N3, N5, N7, N8, N12, N20, N25, N28, N38, N40, N41, N66, N71, N77, N78, N79)
FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 32, 66, 71)
TD-LTE (Bands 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 48)
WCDMA (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 19)
EDGE/GPRS/GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
But the seller says bands n71 (5G) and 12, 71 (4G) are NOT available in this model. I also verified that Tmobile has really poor reception because of lack of bands.
How do I know which VERSION (a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h) does the 'i005DA' model corresponds to ? Can Someone point me to some ASUS website or verifiable source that maps the model to the version number ?
I believe the answer you got was "G"
Re: Which version does ASUS ROG 5 model "i005DA" map to ?
Version G = ASUS_I005DA = China / Tencent Games

Question Unlock frequency bands

I rushed to buy this phone and bought it from Amazon where they said the phone shipped from Hong Kong. I am in the USA and use AT&T. Unfortunately I don't get any 5G signal, even though it's included in my service and the SIM card is 5G capable along with the IMEI being registered with AT&T. Besides 5G not working, the 4G coverage is super slow and I was thinking it was probably because the phone itself doesn't cover sufficient bands available in the USA because my last ROG Phone 2 was super fast in every way. Does anyone know how to unlock the bands for 5G or at least more 4G LTE bands please?!? I really can't stand these speeds
Your carrier would have to add them to the service. The bands you have are set by the hardware. You can't unlock them.
it is tied to your hardware. Youre screwed.. but please dont tell me you paid the premium on the phone just because its was on amazon? You could have gotten the same glorified tablet for 600-700 elsewhere

No I bought the cheaper version (not the ultimate) but with the 16GB RAM. I guess this will just be a project phone
I guess lesson learned! Just sell it then buy the global one.

Who is going to buy it? Now that the proper local versions have released, the resale on a used foreign version is going to be about $200 (unless you pay shipping back to the origin country), meaning you are still around $800 short of buying the same phone.

Yesterday I noticed I had 5g service on my 16gb 256 version. I am also with att. I was surprised to see the icon so I checked the band. It was on band 2 which was previously a lte band in my area. The speeds were the same so I dunnno if it's really 5g or not. Mine is the global one direct from Asus

The global version from Asus has similar bands to the US version. The ones from Hong Kong are Tencent devices, which do not.

Interesting. I'm on AT&T with a 5g plan and sim, and I have yet to see the 5g icon. After spending some time with AT&T support verifying my IMEI etc, I still have had no luck and 5g is definitely active in my area. I have also purchased the phone direct from the US Asus store.
Do you mind sharing your APN settings?

Thanks for these. I'm going to try adding the settings that you used under bearer and see if it changes anything on my phone. I won't be able to try until later but will let you know.
The samsung devices list GID under MVNO and 53FF under value but if I do that on my phone the APN vanishes.
Hopefully Bmayne responds with their setup too since I have the same device.
Billy, thanks for asking about the APN. I didn't think to look at that. Apparently it's a new APN I haven't seen before. Here it is.

They don't appear to have data for other models of the phone.
https://store.asus.com/us/item/202105AM210000001 lists the information under "Connectivity" for the US version of the phone.

Question How can I enable n78 band 5G on my US variant device?

I just got an SM-G996U1 US variant snapdragon 888, however, it does not natively support n78 band 5G that is used in my country, is there anything I can do to enable it?
I have tried the revice menu but it is to no avail.

I tested the speeds with a local device that supports n78 band and it is at par. I am also baffled with what is happening.

Can you reveal your valuable solution here?
I also need n78 frequency unlock
Please tell us how you did it
Probably he has done it on Android 11 where the service menu was accessable
Now, there is no valid solution yet to activate or access to service menu on Android 12
Same issue I also need a solution. Android 12 unfortunately

Question Network Bands

If i bought a snapdragon version of the S22 ultra from Hongkong or US, will its network bands work in middle eastern countries like Lebanon? how can i check on that?
Also I found this model of the phone SM-R908N and wonder if it could work on the network bands of Lebanon. Any thoughts on this issue I'd really appreciate it.
Oh, one more thing, will i encounter any firmware-related problems too? considering the different firmware models.
Easy to check....go to Alpha, see devices they sell, check specs
Alfa | Lebanon's first mobile network
Alfa is Lebanon’s first mobile network, managed by OTMT. Browse Personal, Business & Broadband offers as well as a wide range of devices & accessories.
www.alfa.com.lb
it uses
FDD LTE Bands: B1, 3, 7, 8, 20, 28, 32
TDD LTE Band: B38
UMTS Bands: 1, 3, 8
LTE CA UL Bands: B7+B7, B38+B38
>>>bands 7 & 38 are main there
so now go to gsmarena
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G - Full phone specifications
www.gsmarena.com
see specs
4G bands1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 32, 38, 39, 40, 41, 66 - SM-S908B
So s22 ultra should work as it supports Band7 and Band 38 as Alpha provides, if no special locks at network, your s22 ultra shoulbe fine (max download speed are unknow)
