Hi I'm trying to figure out why my phone cuts off for some odd reason. Today I pulled my phone out my pocket and hit the power button to wake my phone but it did absolutely nothing. I had just takin my phone off the charger 3 hours before & had not used it all day (i was at work)...so I know it wasn't dead. I tried holding down the power button & the vol down and no luck as well. I pluged it to my HTC charger (6 hours later when I got off work) & it didn't do anything until I held the power button & vol down button and got into bootloader and was able to reboot the phone. Can anybody tell me why it does that?

So I recently went to Viper 4.0 and it was running just fine. I had recently just S-off'd the phone and everything was going good. Then it reboots twice in a short amount of time and now I can't get it to turn on (have tried the volume and power and nothing happens). When I plug in the charger I don't get any lights. When I plug it into the computer I hear the computer do it's sound when USB is plugged in but I just get an unknown device in device manager.
Is there anything I can do to get this phone working. I already have a Nexus 4 on the way but I would love to clear this phone off and sell it if possible. Even if it doesn't work I would love to sell it on ebay but I don't feel safe with all the info just sitting on the phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and let me know if you need more info and I will try and dig up what I can.
It doesn't show up as QHSUSB_DLOAD on your pc? If not it could just be the power management bug. Try charging it for a few hours (ac outlet) and powering it on. If it doesn't power on normally try holding volume down + power for a minute.

Doing this now. I left it plugged in last night and still didn't get it to boot up this morning but I left it plugged in and will try again when I get home from work.
Hi all, recently started to get this on my N5, won't turn 'on' just displays a scrambled screen for a short time, won't start up at all. Weirdly gets somewhere to allow the notification light to show, but can't call the phone.
Tried the holding vol up / down for periods of time. Any other way to factory reset in the hope its not a screen issue?
Thanks if any one can shed any light..
Ryan
Factory reset is done via recovery. Hold down power and vol down to boot to bootloader.. If you still see the issue, its hardware

This is what I feared. But still doesnt make sense that I cant call the phone even when it's flashing with a notification.
Water damage maybe?

I had this exact thing happen on my phone. It happened when the phone was on battery saver and the battery got really low. I plugged in the phone, it kind of flashed and then turned off. After that I just had a notification light and either a blank screen or the scrambled screen.
The strange thing is that it worked again the next day. I held the power and the down button until the backlight went off, let the buttons go and it restarted again with the screen displaying properly again. I think I tried the down/power combination yesterday and it didn't work then, so I'm not sure that is the big solution. I'm suspecting a cable issue or power shorting issue but I'm not sure.
so out of no where, my opo decides to not turn the screen on?
when I press the power button, I see the hardware buttons light up but I see nothing on screen. It's just black.
The led turns on when I plug it in.
Got any idea what to do?
Long press power and force your phone to turn off. Then turn it back on. You're having a sleep of death issue.

I've had this issue for several weeks, even on the new build. I wish there was a fix for this because it happens to me almost twice a day. I just wonder if flashing a new kernel would help.

I had to hold down power and volume down button for about 10 secs and turn it off.
Turn it back on and voila
I'm having a weird power issue with my Shield Tablet (Original non-k1). When I power it off, it doesn't seem to shutdown properly. It goes through the shutting down message, and then the screen goes off like it shuts down, but I can't power it back on by holding the power button down for 2 or 3 seconds. The only way to get it to power back on is to hold the power button down for a solid 10 to 15 seconds (like you would for a forced shutdown of a frozen device) and then it will allow me to power it back on. Any ideas on what would cause this? I'm running stock Nvidia 7.1.1 Android, Bit-O-kernel, Magisk root. The tablet functions great aside from this weird shutdown issue.
