Volume Steps - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

This 7 Pro has too many dang volume steps.
30 steps for the volume on the 7 Pro vs only 15 on my Note 9.
Takes an absolute age to adjust the media volume on this phone, LOL! In all seriousness... Is there any way to cut the volume steps in half on this phone? Any module? Custom ROM offer this?

On Havoc you cange the number of steps. You can choose between 5, 7, 15, 30, 45 and 60 for everything (alarm, music, notification, ringer, system, voice call..)

will increasing the steps change the minimum volume level?

Gravity Box lets you change it.

Throw this into your build prop:
Code:
ro.config.media_vol_steps=15
You can change 15 to anything you like.

I'm interested in editing the steps too. I got the buildprop editor app and was wondering where should I put that line under? Does it go under "audio" or "media" or doesn't matter ?? Also what is the default steps so I have a point of reference?

thanks man, I just changed them to 15.
If you haven't done so yet, get the "buildprop editor" app from playstore, hit the pencil icon, scroll all the way down and add the line that rickysidhu_ mentioned.
Hit save and exit, reboot and you're good to go.

@rickysidhu_ Hot damn! It Worked! Thank you so much! I set my media volume steps to 10. Much faster and easier to raise and lower my media volume now! I don't know why OP thought 30 damn steps was a good idea, LOL!

[GAME]Scrambled Equations

In each of these puzzles, you are given a number that you must construct out of several other numbers. You do this by taking the numbers and performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division operations on them. Each number must be used in the calculations exactly once, and only these four operations listed may be used. You may parenthesize your expression however you wish. For example, 10 may be obtained from 1, 1, 2, and 3, with the expression (3+2)×(1+1).

Thank you, i'm glad you like it
Good game I like it a lot! I will leave a review/rate on the market after I've used it for some time.
#EDIT:
I've played the game for about 10 minutes and like it, but if I may do a request. During playing the game I was "missing" a simple clear button. A button what will erase the whole equation created. Sometimes you want to go for a whole other idea and clearing it would make it easier sometimes.

Neat game...pretty engaging! One feature request - when one level is done, it would be nice to go to the next right away instead of selecting it from the level menu. And a link to the level selector on the menu bar would make it easy to use

[Q] Increasing volume steps

Hi, I'm looking for a way to increase number of volume steps on my Verizon S3.
I found the thread that shows how to do this by modifying framework.jar http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42631958. But I always end up with some unexpected top-level exception and bad magic value.
So I'm wondering if there is a volume mod for this phone/rom already since I can't find any.
I'm on CleanROM Seven btw http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832070

Here's another bump for you. I'd like to see a fix for the exception errors.
You could download Music Volume EQ. It allows you to set a DSP which plays your music louder. No root is needed.

In my case, that's not what I want. I want software level step changes. 30 would be a lot nicer than 15.

I honestly do not think you can do that on the S3.
For clarity, are you looking for a method to make the steps smaller between volume levels or are you looking to increase the overall volume of your gs3?
Ex:
GS3 audio starts at 0 db, ends at 90 db, with 15 steps in between - 6 db per step (FYI, these are completely made up numbers)
Are you looking for:
1) 30 steps at 3 db each, making the start and end points the same decibel level?
OR
2) 30 steps at 6 db each, making the start the same (0 db), but increasing the overall volume to 180 db?

In one of the setting in the app, it says you can edit the step through it which will then add it to the framework.

It didn't work for me since my rom's based on 4.1.2.
I think I'll flash other roms with 4.2/4.3 or just wait until S3 gets (hopefully) updated to 4.3.
At least now I know how to do it when I do so Thanks for the help!

If the Camera App doesn't have that option under Settings and your phone is rooted, you can disable it using a
root explorer App and navigate to: system/media/audio/ui
and rename the file "camera_click.ogg" to whatever you want.
This isn't really a solid solution to your problem (could be a hassle to you), but if you put your phone on silent or vibrate you will not hear the shutter sound go off! This works for me as because my phone is always in vibrate mode from the moment I wake up, however like i said not a solid solution if you don't prefer silent or vibrate mode.
Just mute your ringer. It works, at least in EU version.

The option doesn’t exist in the settings. Muting the phone before every time I use the camera is too much of a nuisance since I keep the sound on for other apps.
So, since my phone is rooted, your option of renaming the sound file is the best one for me. Tried it and it worked perfectly.
Thank you!

The option in settings is a custom ROM feature that some ROMs have. Keep in mind that removing the .ogg won't disable the sound for the HDR+ mode in Google Camera, as its embedded into the apk. You could use a Tasker profile to mute it when your camera app is open, too.

I purchased Tasker long ago, just to support the author, but to my shame I have not yet learned how to use it...... ?
That would indeed be a good use for Tasker. Maybe I will find a ready made profile (if that's what they are called) that someone else donated.
Thanks for the suggestion.

OK here you go man. Let me know if you have any issues. I did test it. If you have notification sound issues while this profile is active (only while in camera app) let me know. I'll find a workaround.
Make sure you remove the .XML extension (leave the .prl). Move to SDCARD/Tasker/Autoimport. Relaunch Tasker.

[Q] Increase the number of volume steps

First, I couldn't decide if this was the best place for this question, so if there is a better place, just let me know.
Does anyone know of a way to increase the number of steps for the volume control. In my office I would like my phone to make sound as I can't always here the phone vibrating. However the first step up on the volume feels kinda loud. I would love it if there was like a half step.
Is there any mod or app that will let me do this? I'm running the CM12 nightly (from 1/30) if it makes a different.
Thanks

Op I know you would go into /system/usr/keylayout and edit the generic.kl file with a text editor
Two things that need to be swapped are Key 158 and 254 and reboot. Make sure to swap the text next to each as they are written. Make sure you are rooted.
