This is my first time installing a custom ROM on my original Moto G and with so many to choose from I was wondering what your opinion is. The Overview of the ROM doesn't say much about speed/battery/CPU Usage etc. I'm looking for a ROM that's light on CPU and Battery as well as fast and customizable. I know CM is the most popular but I've heard it's not to good with battery life. Oh, and one more thing, Going with customizeability/features idea I would prefer Android 6. Any input would be greatly apreciated
P.S. Wouldn't mind kernel recommendations either, but I have a less than basic understanding of a kernel .
I would recommand ResurrectionRemix its based on 6.0.1 and has the april 2 security update and has OTA support its based on CM13 also but has so many tweaks and customization without loosing fluidity and smoothness im runnning it after testing multiple rom andits the one I<ll stay with until android 7... im getting 6h screen on time on a 12h uptime day (yesterday) it also offers the cm13 theme installer so pretty sick
Hello Mattwmaster58,
I am in the same situation - looking for a fast, stable(!) & bug-free rom with very good battery-performance.
I have testet many xda-roms for my old samsung-phone (S3 mini), and was surprised how much one differs from the others.
There is quite big list of number of Custom ROMs available for Moto G which might confuse users like us. Every single rom has some advantages and disadvantages.
For me it is important that the rom-thread provides a list of bugs and features, and also shows what changes were made (for instance: Omni-Rom).
I haven't shifted from Orion OS from 4 months give it a try buttery smooth and stable totally bug free if u don't use soft reboot that's IMO nothing big
Btw do tell if u find a better in terms of battery or performance or either
I have tested 15 ROMs for Moto G (Falcon) and below is my recommendation of ROMs :
- Omnirom : Stable and fluid.
- SlimSaber : Optimized version of Omnirom - fast smooth and stable, especially previous version. Good battery SoT.
- Exodus : rock solid stable.
- IDCrisis : stock based, stable
Which CM13 rom do you prefer ? Nexus-fy or Team Superluminal ?
Team Superluminal IMO. Very active development and extra features exclusive to the Mi4c such as the duble tap to go back feature found in stock. They also made the Google camera working! Pretty cool guys.
TSL's Cyanogenmod, just because I haven't had time to play with that many other ROMs yet. No random reboots, no FCs...Everything's working butter smoothly. Probably one of the best (and most stable) custom ROM experiences I've ever had so far. It scored pretty well in Antutu benchmark, too (71355).
I really like this phone with the small bezels and premium construction, but I've heard around here that there aren't a lot of developers working on it. Is that still true? I thought the fact that it got the Pie developer preview would mean it would end up being pretty popular.
How is the support compared to the Mix 2? I realize its like seven months newer, is it just a matter of time? If there is a big difference I might consider switching.
We have Project Treble now and in the Telegram Group many people report that Benzo or ArrowOS AOSP Roms work Great and everything works beside Dual Camera and also @Bruno Martins is hard at work

What's Bruno working on?
Yo guys! It's been a few months since the Xperia 5 II came out and still nothing on the horizon ..
Are there any developers working on a custom rom & kernel? The xda xperia forum is very quiet when it comes to this phone, it's a shame
I would love that one day we could have Lineage OS, or Resurrection Remix, Dirty Unicorn, Omnirom or even EvolutionX. Maybe it's just a dream?
The stock rom is fine but I do would like to have options
I would love to see Lineage on my Xperia 5 ii, I kind of want my XA2 back, which would now be running 18.1. But I guess we have to live with stock rom on this one At least the camera is lovely...

Well, sounds like a starter, but as Lineage enthusiast I'm only looking for a rom without Google, this sounds like the exact opposite. But I guess this one will make at least some people happy ;-)
Working on LOS here. Coming soon!

That's awesome !!
I hope we do see custom roms soon. I'm still using my OP6 and I can't decide between Pizel 5/4a 5G or Xperia 5 II. Would like to go for the Xperia due to longevity but the lack development support is putting me off. If I get one, I will certainly root and remove any bloatware.

Let's hope for it! The device and especially display format of the 5 ii is really nice, and I love that it is compact and fits in my pocket without problems. Lineage on this device would really give a positive vibe about a longevity.
(BTW: yesterday I installed Lineage 17.1 on my fathers ancient Z5 Compact from 2015, everything works just fine and amazingly fast, thanks to getting rid of the google stuff. Now he can use it for some additional time --> that's sustainability. Let's hope for the 5 ii to be as longevity)
Had some issues last Night, but i'm syncing a fresh 18.1 repo with xperia device trees right now. Will take some Hours but i think i can share a first Build the next Days...

Any chance you can test it and tell me, if the camera is still working and has the same functionalities? I'm not talking about the fancy Sony Camera app, but the simple one delivered on stock ROM. On XA2 and Z5 Compact the Lineage 17.1 Photo App is quite ok, but of cause these ones have no triple camera. And as the 5 ii is not cheap I would like to be sure, that this key feature is working properly... Or that I have the possibility to get the stock camera app working.

You can ask directly to the dev, I think he must have tested the image before he released it.
I'm waiting for someone to try it too lmao cause I don't want to lose any stock features.
Anyway I'm pretty sure it will work, otherwise he would have mentioned it in the post I guess

Is there any update on your Lineage-Release? Unfortunately the published version from ken442266 has been discontinued and I don't want to return to stock
Just checked the list of devices receiving the Android 12 update with OneUI 4 and our beloved Galaxy A20 is nowhere to be seen. Since the A20 already got 2 major updates the possibility of Samsung putting any effort to surprise users is very low.
Multiple security updates are yet to come but any OS updates is highly unlikely.
What are your thoughts? Which custom rom are you going to prefer if any?
Edit : OneUI 4.1 ROM is now available for A205X. OneUI 5.1 is in beta.
I noticed Eureka are releasing a lot of Android 12 ROMS lately. There's:
LighthouseOS
PixelPlusUI
crDroid
ProjectArcana
SuperiorOS
AospExtended
evolution
Arrow
I haven't installed any yet because I don't really want to move from OS 11 to 12 at this time.

I've been following Eureka Team on Telegram for quite some time now. Almost all the Android S ROMs are test builds. Some common features and settings are missing. Those who implemented the features are broken in many areas.
Android 12 has impressed me with it's performance so far. It's noticeably faster than any Android R ROMs I've used.
Fingers crossed, I have a lot of hope in Eureka.

What ROM are you running now? Is there one you would recommend?
I'm using the Stock ROM - June update. Basically removed the features considered useless, installed Eureka and called it a day. Tried hKtweaks but it just makes the phone unstable.
Project Sakura is what stayed on my phone for the longest time. UI might look less uniform at times but does the job.
Custom ROMs are a mere hobby for me. If A20 is your daily driver then I won't recommend using any custom rom at all. voLTE is broken in all all of them. But I still try every ROM that comes out.
-------------------------
Exceptions of voLTE bug are the modded OneUI ROMs, basically debloated stock ROMs which you could simply do by rooting, no need to waste data for just more broken features.
